This document discusses the ongoing revolution of cloud computing and its impacts. It notes how cloud computing has made infrastructure resources like storage, bandwidth and compute power effectively unlimited and commoditized through services with simple APIs. It also discusses how cloud computing and software as a service have disrupted industries like print journalism, education and manufacturing. Finally, it raises several key ongoing challenges around privacy, data organization and control in the cloud era.
The biggest trend today is utilizing the 'cloud.' The cloud is a phrase used to describe moving document storage away from devices and to Internet-based locations. Cloud-based computing has several benefits including ease of collaboration, accessibility of information on multiple PCs and devices and can save organizations money and space. There are multiple companies offering cloud services, join Diana to explore the cloud and offer pros and cons of several popular cloud services including DropBox, Amazon Cloud and Google Docs.
Presentation for Chenla Launch Party. The presentation gives a high level overview and introduction to Chenla and some of the projects we are involved.
Presentation of things learned at conferences in October and November 2011. Specifically, information about Day Camp 4 Developers, HTML5.tx, ZendCon, and RedDirt.js.

Mapping Life Science Informatics to the CloudChris Dagdigian
Infrastructure cloud platforms such as those offered by Amazon Web Services are not designed and built with scientific research as the primary use case. These presentation slides cover the current state of mapping life science research and HPC technique onto “the cloud” and how to work around the common engineering, orchestration and data movement problems.

Big Data! Great! Now What? #SymfonyCon 2014Ricard Clau
Big Data is one of the new buzzwords in the industry. Everyone is using NoSQL databases. MySQL is not cool anymore. But... do we really have big data? Where should we store it? Are the traditional RDBMS databases dead? Is NoSQL the solution to our problems? And most importantly, how can PHP and Symfony2 help with it?
Slides from my talk at ACCU2011 in Oxford on 16th April 2011. A whirlwind tour of the non-relational database families, with a little more detail on Redis, MongoDB, Neo4j and HBase.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
