1) The document is a presentation on climate change by Mr. Virender Chhachhiya for the Department of Geography at Panjab University Chandigarh.
2) It discusses the definitions of climate and climate change, causes of climate change including both natural factors and human activities, and effects of climate change on various systems.
3) Solutions to address climate change discussed include mitigation efforts in the energy sector, shifting to renewable energy, individual actions, and international cooperation through frameworks such as the UNFCCC and Kyoto Protocol.

Introduction
• Climate change is an enormous challenge facing
humankind today.
2
• Undoubtedly,it is the single largest environmental
threat facing the planet, and we need to act fast to
mitigate it.
3
• There is much that need to be done and much that
can be done to halt the catastrophic impacts of
cliamte change.
4. •
The Climate of
a given place is
the average
weather
experienced in
that place over
a perios of
time.
What is Climate.
Climate is the
average
weather of a
region or area
over a period
of time.(35
years).
Various
elements of
climate such as
rainfall,
• temperature
• humidity
• Air pressure
• winds
• clouds and
• sunshine
5. What is Climate Change.
Climate Change is natural phenomenon and has been
occurring since the earth came into being.
Climate change is a change in the average weather of
a given area or region.
This includes temperature,wind patterns, and
precipitation. This change is referred to in a global
sense and concerns the earth as a whole.
6. The Earth's Climate in the Past
Some natural factors that have changed
the Earth's climate in the past
Changes in the Earth’s orbit
Changes in the sun’s energy
Photosynthesis
Volcanic Eruptions
10. 2008 Global CO2 Emissions from Fossil Fuel
Combustion and some Industrial Processes

15. Effect of Climate Change
Extinction of Species
On Acidification of Ocean
On Health
On Ocean temperature
On Migration and conflict
Oxygen depletion
On Water resources
On Natural Disasters
18. Finding solution
Mitigation in the energy sector
Using CNG Vehicles
Using Electric Powered Vehicles
Cleaner Diesel Engines
Hydrogen-fuelled Vehicles
19.
20. Finding solution
Shifting to Renewable Energy
Using Solar Power
Using Wind Power
Using Hydropower
Using Bio Gas
21.
22. Finding solution
At Individual level
By Using Eco-friendly transport
By Using Energy efficiency
By Managing waste
By Plant more tree and preserve nature
