1. Classification Essay On Music
Writing an essay on the classification of music can be both challenging and intriguing. The
difficulty lies in navigating the vast and diverse world of music, encompassing various genres,
subgenres, and cultural influences. The task requires a deep understanding of musical styles, their
historical evolution, and the intricate connections between them.
To begin with, one must conduct extensive research to grasp the nuances of each music category.
Whether exploring classical compositions, dissecting the complexities of jazz, or immersing
oneself in the rhythms of hip-hop, a comprehensive knowledge base is crucial. The challenge is
not just in recognizing the major genres but also in uncovering the subcategories and hybrid
forms that continue to emerge.
Crafting a coherent and engaging essay involves more than just listing musical categories. The
writer must develop a systematic approach to classification, identifying common characteristics,
historical contexts, and the impact of cultural influences. Moreover, weaving a narrative that
seamlessly transitions between different genres requires finesse and a keen understanding of
musical theory.
Balancing objectivity and subjectivity adds another layer of complexity. While presenting factual
information about each music category, the essay must also capture the emotional and subjective
experiences associated with them. This requires the writer to draw on personal insights,
anecdotes, and cultural contexts, making the classification not just a technical exercise but a rich
exploration of the human connection to music.
Additionally, the challenge extends to maintaining a cohesive structure throughout the essay.
Organizing the myriad of information in a logical sequence, ensuring smooth transitions between
sections, and avoiding redundancy demand careful planning and meticulous editing.
In conclusion, writing a classification essay on music involves navigating the vast and intricate
landscape of musical genres. It requires extensive research, a deep understanding of music
theory, and the ability to balance objectivity with subjectivity. Crafting a compelling narrative
that captures both the technical aspects and emotional experiences associated with each genre
adds another layer of complexity. Despite these challenges, the process can be immensely
rewarding for those passionate about exploring the diverse and captivating world of music.

2. The Legacy Of Ronald Reagan
Ronald Reagan
California proved divided on state political issues in 1964. The state needed a
Republican candidate with an inspirational personality that could humanize
conservatism within the state. Ronald Reagan fit the criteria (DeGroot, 1997).
Reagan a former actor, and president of the Screen Actors Guild was not a politician
by Washington standards. However, Reagan had been on the campaign trail with
Barry Goldwater, delivering inspirational speeches at various campaign stops.
Reagans speeches captivated the audience, speaking in terms the audience
understood, exuding a sincerity on the issues he spoke of. Visual aides, like the

The most distinguishing factor about Ronald Reagan, he was a conservative with a
charming personality, who spoke passionately against communism, Americas
economy, and making America great again. Reagan had a way of speaking to
colleagues that made them feel as if he belonged with them, understood them. His
calm demeanor exuded an aura that commanded respect, showed his strength and
compassion to do what was right. Reagan brought renewed hope not only to
Americans, but to the world over.
Reagan s Economic Policy
Ronald Reagan s message and vision for the future of America was clear. Cut taxes
and make Americas economy great again. Increases in unemployment, taxes, and
inflation during Jimmy Carters presidency, would require immediate action. President
Reagans stance on the economy attributed to him winning the election.
Enthusiastically, Reagan immediately began working on the economy by reducing
government spending, controlling money to curb inflation, and economic
deregulation (Fox, 2008). Through Reagans policies, the United States began to
emerge from the stronghold of the 1970 s. Taking the direction towards economic
freedom. Reagan fought and won the battle to the White House. Energetic, humorous,
witty, but above all intellectual. It was his intellect that appealed to the American
electorates. Reagan spoke to them about his vision for the United States, how he
would accomplish tasks before him. He believed
3. Gulliver s Travels By Jonathan Swift
Gulliver s Travels, a satire by Jonathan Swift, highlights various aspects of English
society, of its time period, through Gulliver s voyages and exposure to different
cultures. On the surface, this satire is simply a fairy tale, but with observation,
Swift s satirical comments can be easily identified and related to his society and
even today s American; such comments are criticizing aspects of society. These
aspects include the struggle between those in powerful versus common man,
corruption, and the true inner of honorable people One topic that this piece
focuses on is the struggle between empowered men and unfortunate men. Gulliver
arrives onto the floating island of Laputa which is filled with strange people who
fail to make practical use of their knowledge. These people do have a king and
Gulliver soon discovers that he is a tyrant. Below the island, is a region known as
Balnibarbi which is in total control by the king. As a matter of fact, the king
punishes any town in the region for their disobedience using two methods. If any
town should engage in rebellion or mutiny, fall into violent factions, or refuse to pay
the usual tribute, the king has two methods of reducing them to obedience (Swift #).
These punishments include covering the town from above, or, in extreme cases,
dropping the island on the town itself. The first and the mildest course is, by keeping
the island hovering over such a town, and the lands about it, whereby he can deprive
them of the benefit

Duty to Warn Genetic testing has provided individuals the opportunity to make life

find this to be a selfish decision. However, as a healthcare professional it is important

Is Competitive Dance a Sport And those who were seen dancing were thought to be
insane by those who could not hear the music. said by Friedrich Nietzsche. Although
many will argue that competitive dancing should be considered an art over a sport, I
have a different opinion. Though I do believe that dancing has many qualities that
would consider it an art, I still believe that there are even more qualities that should
make it considered a sport. Keep in mind that i m talking about competitive dance, not
just a couple classes throughout the week. Competitive dancers go to competitions
with a judging system that ensures objectivity, fairness, and transparency. Dancers
also require good stamina, speed, flexibility, and muscle. Dance also requires a
very strong level of discipline and strength. Being a competitive dancer myself, I
can say that the judging system can get pretty intense. There is a first, second, and
third place like any other competition. The judges judge you based on your skill
level, how well you re able to perform, the way you look as a group, and you also
have a time limit just like you have a time limit in football or baseball. Dancers train
all year and go to many competitions to prepare for nationals like football teams
would for something like the superbowl. According to the Grace Sim website, judges
take into consideration choreography, precision, showmanship and technique. The
website also says that judges usually award up to 100 points and the
6. Breast Feeding Executive Summary
Breast feeding is as natural as breathing and has always been a way for a mother to
not only feed her child, but to form a connection with her child. It seems like a no
brainer, but many women struggle with the choice to breastfeed or to bottle feed with
packaged formula. Fortunately, there is an abundance of information available to
parents that help explain the advantages of breast milk, whether the baby feeds
directly from his or her mother or receives milk from a donor. The textbook, The
Developing Person: Through the Life Span by Kathleen Stassen Berger (2014), does
a great job stressing the importance and benefits of breast milk. In chapter 5, Berger
makes the statement that breast is best and goes on to list the many reasons why...

The professionals were recruited by opportunity sampling or naturally occurring
groups and the mothers were recruited using posters that were placed in local
nurseries and different community centers. Theses community centers were located
in a variety of places with varying degrees of social deprivation. Both groups engaged
in interviews but the questions were different. Some of the questions that they asked
the healthcare professionals wanted to gauge their experience with mothers and why
they believed that the breastfeeding rate was low in the UK and the questions that they
asked the mothers had to do with their experience with breastfeeding or formula

educational background, income, marital status, their infants birth weight and
gestational age at birth. If the child was born prematurely, with low birth weight, or
with serious health issues, then the interview wasn t conducted. Additionally, the

7. Analysis Of We Wear The Mask
The title of Dunbar s We Wear the Mask (1896) emphasizes the essential idea of the
poem, which is deception and illusion. The title is repeated in all three stanzas. This
tells the reader to keep the title in mind while reading the poem. The persona of
Dunbar is conveyed to the reader in first person, which has a strong contributed to the
message of the poem along with the rhythm and word choice. It shows the repulsive
worldDunbar lives in and the masking of his own true emotions throughout the poem.
Dunbar s emotional appeal enhances every mood in the poem from the need to hide
the true self, to the deep sorrow behind the mask, and to connecting the mask to how
humans must lie.
In the first stanza, Dunbar uses irony to express what the mask symbolizes. The
mask can represent several things from someone hiding behind a false expression
to the things people say and do that aren t honest. The main point of the poem
which describes the mask as a grin, but can lie . It hides our cheeks and shades our
eyes (Line 2) gives the reader a mental picture with the use of imagery. As well, the
extra spacing at the beginning of line two emphasizes the word hiding . This mask
hides its own existence, of agonizing misery and hardship. Many people put it on to
fit into society. When Dunbar says, With torn and bleeding hearts we smile , (Line
4) it explains the worldly power of the mask. The debt we pay to human guile, (Line
3) means the unhappiness they feel is related to them deceiving others. Both lines are
hyperboles that emphasize the struggle behind the mask. The figurative language not
only shows the theme of discernment, but shows its impact. In addition, applying the
words, we and our gives the poem an all inclusive feel which creates an auxiliary
meaning.
In the second stanza, Dunbar asks a rhetorical question to prove a point. One should
not let others make them suffer by hiding all feelings and emotions from society.
When he says, Why should the world be overwise, / In counting all our tears and
sighs? (Line 6 7), it contradicts the idea that this poem is universal with the phrase the
world . Throughout the poem, the time frame of the publication does not shift the
poem at all. But one would

9. International Service Of Air Transportation
Introduction
An airline company can be defined as an organization providing public service of air
transportation on one or more routes to passengers and freight. Airlines vary widely
in size, from small companies to huge multinational companies. Airlines lease or own
their aircraft with which they supply services and may form partnerships or alliances
with other airlines for mutual benefits. Generally an airline must have an air operating
certificate or license issued by a governmental aviation body.
History of airlines Airplanes were around the first few years of the 20th century. In

Established airlines enjoyed an advantage over star ups, as new carriers found it
difficult to break into exiting routes. (Harris, A.).
The Federal Aviation Agency, now known as the Federal Aviation Administration,
was created in 1958 to manage safety operations. A 1981 air traffic controller s
strike brought a temporary setback to the growth, which continued throughout the
1980s. Major carriers such as Pan America and TWA, began to collapse in the
wake of competition; such carriers disappeared completely following the Gulf war
and recession of the early 1990s. In 2001, the industry faced another economic
downturn, as business decreased while labor and fuel cost increased. The 9/11 events
worsened the airline issues, which lead to a decline in customers and significantly
higher operating costs. Loses continued for years; the industry as a whole did not
return profitability until 2006. (Harris, A.).
NAICS Codes
According to the NAICS code data source, the code used to identify the U.S specific
sub sector under the airline industry is 48111 (Scheduled Air Transportation). As
officially defined by The United States Census Bureau, the industry comprises
establishments primarily engaged in providing air transportation of passengers and

10. It Ain T Me, Babe Is A Creative And Imaginative Broad...
IT AIN T ME, BABE is a creative and imaginative broad comedy. The concept is fun
and a nice setup for comedy, conflict, and character change. The script is driven by
the theme of second chances.
There s definitely a lot to like about this script. On the other hand, there are also areas
that would benefit from more development.
First the script opens rather mildly. The idea that the music store is in jeopardy of
being taken over or closed down certainly is workable, but a bit outdated, meaning
this type of plot beat (being evicted etc.) has been used several times before.
Given that there s a theme about time perhaps the story should begin in Dave s past
showing the end of his career with his band. This could set up his inner conflict about
missing out on a more famous life versus being almost famous. Then the structure can
transition to the present day storyline of him working in the record shop.
It would also be nice to set up Dave as a man that regrets some of his life decisions
and wishes he could go back to the past and undo them. Right now, the scenes in the
opening and with Jane simply are not the most engaging. The characters feel a bit
immature and old fashioned.
On the other hand, the opening pages does foreshadow events with Amanda, Gary s
desire to be a manager, and the city undergoing new development in which the past
seems to be disappearing.
There s a solid and fun inciting event when Dave finds the old antique listening booth.

Consequently, this diary uncovered all of her secrets and personal thoughts. This
act of exposure is similar to the disclosure and photographic taking of Tereska
Draws Her Home. Documentation of personal accounts helps the rest of the world
understand and learn, such as from the faults of the government and military
systems. Tereska s illustration is personal, and extrudes the immense impact the
Nazis and concentration camps had on young children. Other children like Tereska
drew their interpretations of their home as well during this same assignment in
other photographs Seymour had taken. These other children drew recognizable
images of homes and concrete buildings, most of which consisted of squares and
identifiable figures. Conversely, Tereska did now draw anything so identifiable.
Instead, she drew clumsy, large scribbles that fill up the entire space given to her.
There is a relevant circular motion to her drawing, and her drawing is so large that
it even crosses over in the child s drawing on her left. At one point, she even draws
over her name at the top. She is attempting to cover the entire space in these circular
scribbles, with the inspiration of her childhood home, a concentration camp. This
image not only speaks largely of the detrimental psychological effect concentration
camps had on children, but Tereska s art speaks largely to the topic of the
psychology of children s art. Tereska s response of confusion and distraught is
displayed too close for comfort.
12. The Cask Of Amontillado, By Edgar Allen Poe And Young...
Literature about Evil
The purpose of this paper is to introduce, discuss, and analyze the short stories The
Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe and Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel
Hawthorne. Specifically it will discuss the phenomenon of evil in the human heart
as it appears in these two works. Evil lives in everyone, whether they want to
acknowledge it or not. These two chilling tales show two different sides of evil, but
they both illustrate how evil can corrupt a person right down to their very heart and
soul.
The narrator, Montresor, in The Cask of Amontilladois so evil in his heart that he
must gain revenge over his adversary at all costs. His family motto is Nemo me
impune lacessit [No one assails me with impunity], and he feels his friend Fortunato
has somehow insulted this honor, and so he seeks the ultimate revenge. He walls his
friend up inside a cellar and leaves him there to die. Clearly, the narrator is insane,
and that is a commonality between these two stories. Both the protagonists are insane
or mad, for whatever reason. Goodman Brown goes mad in the forest when he
believes he has encountered the devil, and the reader never knows what sets
Montresor off, except it is some kind of insult. The authors are very skillful in making
both these men quite unsympathetic characters, and that heightens the sense of evil
surrounding them both.
Montresor may seem to be the more evil in nature, but Goodman Brown has his own
issues of evil to

16. Gas Transportation Methods Of Natural Gas
GAS TRANSPORTATION METHODS
Natural gas is a clean and environmental friendly energy source which is estimated
to constitute a major part of world energy consumption in the coming years. Usage
of natural gas is increasing due to its relatively cheaper costs than diesel or gasoline.
Transportation and Storage falls under the final stage of Oil and Gas processing
where it gets transported to the end user for further use in industry, plant or any other
facility. Transportation of natural gasremains as a challenge due to its isolated
reserves throughout the world. Natural gas has more problems in transportation
and storage when compared to other forms of energy such as petroleum, coal etc.
The main reason is due to the energy density of natural gas which is low at ambient
temperatures and pressures (Kidnay et al. 2011). So in order to transport the gas
by pipeline, its energy density has to be increased using high pressures. Another
problem of Natural gas due to its low energy density, lies in its storage. Natural gas
is highly volatile and sophisticated storage facilities are to be provided to prevent
any hazards. Therefore natural gas has to be transported continuously to the end user
avoiding reasons for storage. When there is less demand for its usage, natural gas has
to be converted to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and then stored.
Otherwise transportation of natural gas is carried out in different ways such as:
1. Pipelines
2. Compressed Natural gas (CNG)
3. Liquefied

have initially appeared as an accident was the result of many factors including the
design and construction of the walkways supports, but more importantly
communication between all involved parties in its design and construction. Ethical
concerns over this tragedy were raised as well as further investigation of possible

The original walkway was designed to have single load bearing rods that would pass

Chapter four analyzes this fascination. It starts off talking about Thomas Trevilian, an
author of an elaborate commonplace book, that showed the English public was
keenly interested in the world and in understanding how to categorize the knowledge
about all the new things, people, and cultures of which specimens and descriptions
were now available to them. (109 110) Their thirst for learning about the new was
quenched by frequent plays, narratives and other writings by colonist, and cabinets of
curiosities, early version of museums. The fifth chapter examines the effect
geography, climate and more importantly the naming of the areas in the colonial era.
The power to apply a name and make it stick implied ownership and control. (147)
Also, it discusses the climate and weather affect on Jamestown and the world s
relation. It talks about the Little Ice Age, and how the colder temperatures were
compounded by unprecedented drought throughout North America in the period of
contact and the first settlement. (171) Chapter six contrast Jamestown with other
British colonies in Ireland, the West Indies, Guiana, Roanoke, Newfoundland, and
New England. She focus on Ireland because the colonization of Ireland taught the
English how to transfer a social order and to transform the native population. (208)
The first year of Jamestown existence is the focus of chapter seven. It s name,

Similar to the root, it is centrally located, and it can cause individuals pain if
exposed due to a cavity, crack or fracture.
Dentin
Dentin is the porous layer that covers the pulp and sits below the outer tooth enamel.
Because it secretes a mineralized substance, and is soft and flexible, it provides tooth
enamel an added layer of support and helps prevent it from fracturing. If the enamel is
compromised and the dentin is exposed, however, it can cause tooth sensitivity.
Enamel
Enamel is the hard, white exterior covering of the tooth. Comprised of calcium
phosphate, its hardness serves to protect the sensitive inner parts of the tooth, but it is
still vulnerable to wear and tear, injury and tooth decay.
Although diet and hygiene play important roles in keeping your teeth in good shape,
crowding, bite and/or alignment issues due to genetics can also have a big impact on
the condition of your teeth.
Types Of Teeth

China has 5000 years of history which experienced wars, collapses, failures and
successes. The Opium War in the year 1839 and 1856 marked the changing point of
China s trade policy with foreigners, especially with British in opium and tea. China
changed from getting tributes to being forced to sign the Nanjing Treaty and Tianjing
Treaty with British and French. Due to Chinas over confidence and unwelcome
attitude toward foreigners and opium, it caused the British to declare the Opium War
to China which made Chinese suffered for many years, but at the same time it also
forced China to open its door to the foreigners.

And at the heart of the trade was tea. It came from no other place. India did not then
produce any, nor Ceylon, Java, or Formosa; Japan was inaccessible; the world
perforce drank China teas. Above all, the English drank them (17).
English needed the tea from China which was one reason caused British to negotiate
with the Chinese to open more trade opportunity to the outsiders, and the denial of
exporting tea to the British caused the later Opium War.
Qianlong emperor s reaction to Macartney s mission angered the British as well.
Qianlong emperor s over confidence was shown in the court when he met the
British ambassador Macartney. He required Macartney to wear Chinese clothes and
practice Chinese kowtow. But Macartney was not going to obligate, or rather he
would perform the three times three only if some mandarin also kowtowed before
his own sovereign George III, a portrait of whom he had thoughtfully included in his
baggage (32). Even though China had a great power during that time, Macartney did
not considered himself as who came from a weaker country. China did not think it
needed products from foreign countries. Chinese needed nothing and traded a little
with tribute bearing barbarians only out of affectionate condescension. Let Macartney
go quietly away! Let King George, his master, display the proper respect and
devotion by refraining in the future from importunate embassies! (32). All they care
about was the Confucius culture of paying ritual.

Statistical Tools Methods: The main statistical tools that will be used to perform
my analysis are the Microsoft Excel data analysis Tool Pak and an online calculator

to use because the data that has been given is quantitative not qualitative. The data
that the teams are given in the case study appears to be units used/sold and
manufactured and this is good data to import into Excel. The only variable that is
present is the year, quarter, or month that the units were sold/produced in. In this
case study the given data would fall in the category of a time series because the
sales figures increased over the time (years). Also in reviewing the data there is
seasonal variation in the sales figures from 2006 to 2008. This category of data
can be analyzed using time series methodologies. The next year s data or projected
data is dependent on the previous year s data, so time series analysis is
appropriate. When looking at the problem that A CAT is facing we see either
overstocking or under stocking transformers. Over stocking causes capital to be
tied up in the inventory. Under stocking causes A CAT to be unable to deliver order
quickly. I chose to use ANOVA and a regression analysis so that I could establish
definitively if the transformers required is dependent or independent on the sales of
refrigerators and by how much does the sales of refrigerators influence the number of

The evolution of the Sonata form in the Classical period and the Romantic era gave
composers a platform to encourage and indulge their curiosity. Theses composers
took a form an exploited it as limitless. They introduced new elements that combined
the classical and romantic era bridging them like star crossed lover s. In this essay,
my aim with this paper is to present how one of the greatest forms in music inspired
genius throughout the classical era and beyond.
Sonata during the Classical period meant a work in several movements that is usually
in three or four. The first movement is in a special sonata form. Sonatas were highly
regarded and an important form for composers. The Classical period had roughly
replaced the harpsicord with the piano, most composers during this period wrote
Sonatas. They did this mostly for solo instruments plus piano, but violin, cello, and
flute sonatas were all treasured. In classical sonatas with violin, piano is considered
an equal partner not just an accompaniment.
The standard Classical Sonata form is as follows, the first movement is allegro in
Sonata form. The second movement is slow, the third movement is minuet and trio
or scherzo. The fourth movement is in allegro. The minuet and trio is a dance with
three beats in a bar. Now the first movement of the Sonata form has three main
sections. One section or the first section is called the exposition this is a large,
diverse section of music in which the basic material of the movement is

28. The Parthenon Sculptures
The British Government have an obligation to give back the Parthenon Sculptures in
the British Museum back to the Greek government. This is due to the importance the
Statues have in Greek Culture, the importance of having the Acropolis once again
united, and the high level of evidence supporting the claim that the British stole the
statues. This essay will aim to explain each of these points, a well as the British
Rebuttals. Not only this, but a recount will be made on the attempt made by myself
and a classmate as we attempted to replicate this debate and negotiate for a peaceful
outcome.
Since 1983, after the transition from Post Civil War Greece to the Modern Day
Democratic Greece, the Greek Government has demanded the return of its ancient
Parthenon Sculptures from the British Museum in London. After Greece regained its
independence and government, it has demanded for the stolen statues to be returned
to Greece so they can be united with the rest of the Parthenon and the Acropolis. Not
only this, but the Greeks put the legality of the British s taking of the statues under
question, stating it was through secrecy and conspiracy this was achieved. The
British argue that under law, they legally bought the statues from the Ottomans (The
then rulers of Greece) in 1811 with Lord Elgin. Not only this, but they state that they
wish to preserve the statues in London, to showcase to the world mankind s greatest
achievements. While both sides offer valid and tenacious arguments,
29. Analysis Of Ace Ventura And School Of Rock
In both, Ace Ventura and School of Rock, comedy is proposed from the outset;
even the title and movie cover are comedic. Setting up pretend worlds creates
distances for the audience allowing them to laugh at the comedies. In Ace Ventura,
the main character, Ace Ventura, is a pet detective hired to find a missing dolphin
who is kidnapped before the Superbowl. This concept suggest absurdity at both the
ridiculousness of someone kidnapping a dolphin and a private pet detective being
hired to find it. This concept also sets up a lot of jokes throughout the movie; Ace
has a special bond with animals, an ability to communicate with animals, and in
many ways acts like an animal, especially a dog. At no point is the concept of the
movie taken seriously by the audience so the outrageousness of Ace s character and
his actions are cartoonish.
This is a very different tone from School of Rock, where the movie is set in a
somewhat more realistic world that the audience is able to identify with. School of
Rock creates comedy through a fish out of water scenario where the immature, rock
and roll loving, Dewey impersonates his roommate, Ned, and becomes a substitute
teacher for ten year olds. The scheming Dewey devises a plan to create a rock band
out of his class and win a contest, setting up multiple comedic approaches.
The role of Ace Venturaseems to be written especially for Jim Carrey as it takes
advantage of all of his physical comedy gifts. Jim Carrey honed his comedic

Asoka was enlightened because he changed his ways, spread Buddhism, and
created helpful edicts for his people. If Asoka didn t realize what he did wrong, he
wouldn t have been an enlightened ruler. To start off, Asoka changed his ways of
life. At first Asoka conquered many lands (Doc A). This allowed him to build a
huge, strong empire. When he attacked these empires and land, he scared many
people causing no one wanting to fight (Doc B). After all the fights he felt he had
just enough land to stop and not have his empire collapse. When all these wars
ended, after he felt content, he felt a great crisis (Doc C). Asoka went to sit under
the Bodhi and felt enlightenment to change his harsh ways. The Bodhi tree showed
him the Buddhist religion and kindness. If it wasn t for his crisis and the Bodhi tree,

Buddhism as little evil , much good, kindness, generosity, truthfulness, and purity
(Doc E). It must be a very special religion if it has little evil . If Asoka didn t devote
his life to spreading Buddhism, then his empire citizens would not have had a good
31. Internal Conflict, When Emotions Compromise Your...
INTERNAL CONFLICT , when emotions compromise your negotiation leverage.
Abstract
Conflicts occur on a daily basis, throughout all levels of society. Conflicts often bring
about intense emotional reactions, which may strongly affect the individuals
involved. Given that conflicts are often infused with emotions, it is important to
understand how these emotions may shape conflict development and resolution.
Emotions play a pervasive role in our actions on a daily basis. Positive emotions such
as happiness and empathy can influence our actions to make us better human beings
whereas negative emotions such as anger and fear, if not harnessed well, can hold us
back from achieving our true potential.
But when it comes to Negotiation, time and time again, common wisdom has proven
that emotion of any nature, whether positive or negative should be kept out of it as it
can only hamper the end results of the negotiation and skew the results in the
opposing party s favor.
This is because emotions reduce people s ability to process information quickly.
This simply means that they don t take the time or effort to explore out of the box
solutions or creative options. Important facts or clues may be missed out, which can
lead to a loss of leverage in negotiation.
This study is meant to examine the adverse effects internal conflict and emotions play
when brought into the negotiation process.
Why was this subject chosen?
Negotiation has been studied from many
32. The Pit And The Pendulum Symbolism
Terror is something that most living things have experienced in their lives, from
people to animals. It manifests itself as the emotion of fear in the minds of those
who experience it. Edgar Allan Poe creates a sense of terror in The Pit and the
Pendulum by expressing symbolism; he uses the candles, the pendulum, and
General Lasalle arriving. By doing this Poe creates a sense of fear in the minds of
his readers and intrigues them. Poe uses the candles to, at first, symbolize hope and
charity, then, to represent evil and meaningless spectres. At first they wore the aspect
of charity (Poe 856) to the unnamed narrator; it showed that he still had hope even
though he was locked in a cold and dark dungeon. He thought when he... Show more

Poe also uses the symbol of General Lasalle to represent a savior such as God. The
walls had ...shifted its form into that of a lozenge (873) and were slowly closing in
and pushing the narrator toward the pit in the cell. The walls closing in represent a
person coming closer to death and slowly dying; as he got closer to the pit he was
inching closer to death. This all came after the narrator thought that he was free
after he had freed himself from the pendulum. But just as the narrator was seconds
away from falling into the pit, an outstretched arm caught my own as I fell, (873)
and saved him seconds before he fell into the pit. This could be seen as a direct
reference to the Bible, where God saves a soul before they fall into hell, which is
represented by the pit. The narrator also hears trumpets as he is about to fall into the
pit, representing him about to die; many paintings the afterlife are shown with angels
playing trumpets further showing that Lasalle is meant to represent God and finally
ends the terror that the narrator was faced with. In conclusion, Poe uses symbolism to
strengthen the theme of terror in The Pit and
33. The Army s Education Of Field Grade Officers
A major focal point in the US Army s education of field grade officers is the ability
to understand the phenomenon of war, its relationship to society, and its ever
changing character. While the notion of strategic culture fails to be deterministic,
there is no doubt that it plays an important role in both why and how a society wages
war. For the strategist, the notion of strategic culture provides a critical input to the
planning process by shedding light on the intent and future decisions of both state and
individual actors; the value of an object and effort to expend in its pursuit; and the
overall organization and employment of militaryforce. The discussion begins by
providing the theoretical foundations that led to the notion of strategic culture before
turning to its practical use, and limitations.
During the 1920s, Max Scheler coined the term sociology of knowledge . He
emphasized that knowledge comes from experience and history. This knowledge
appears to the individual as the natural way of looking at the world. In 1966, Peter
Berger and Thomas Luckmann expanded upon this concept with the social
construction of reality. They argued that the constant interaction between man and
society gives meaning to what individuals understand as truth. This objective truth,
learned and internalized over time, affects one s thoughts, perceptions, and actions.
Moving forward to 1981, Colin Gray argued that a nation s culture is formed over
time by geography, history, beliefs,
34. How Government Has Established The Racial Lines
There are many different ways that government has established the racial lines as
we understand them in America. The one drop rule as discussed above was a result
of the southern state legislatures and the development of Jim Crowe Laws. In
Virginia that state passed some racial integrity laws an in 1924 one such act read in
part as this It is estimated in the state from 10,000 to 20,000, possibly more near
white people, who are known to possess and intermixture of colored blood, in some
cases to a slight extent it is true, but still enough to prevent them from being white,
(LAW). This was the response the legislature of Virginia put forth when faced with
the biggest whole in the raceis a static nonmalleable fact. They had to find a way to
get those of mixed races into a box. Depending on how one looked at the issue
either these people fit in both boxes or did not fit in any box. The State legislature
had to decide which box would be accepting them. And it was the political
institution that decided that one drop was enough to remove you from being
considered white. It was a maneuver to oppress blacks and trash the whites who
mingled with them. This was not a biological decision that would argue the black
gene is dominant enough that one great grandparent is enough to make all future off
spring black (which wouldn t be true), it was a social and political choice. A State
legislature decided the borderlines of race, not some natural law. Legislatures were
not the

The Histories is a book written by Herodotus during the 5th century BC and is one
that is very useful in the study of history. Herodotus himself was and still called the
Father of History as it is believed that he is the first to write down histories. A
historian from 400 years after Herodotus, Dionysius, had stated that Herodotuschose
not to write down the historyof a single city or nation, but to put together many,
varied events of Europe and Asia in a single comprehensive work . The book is
useful in the sense that the level of detail present and Herodotus himself included his
insight on the events to give modern historians an idea about the events. These were

The Great Pyramids were built by slaves under the rule of Cheops, according to the
priests that Herodotus encountered. Cheops had closed all the temples and used
slaves for his own advantage. Some of the slaves were forced to drag blocks of
stones from the Arabian hills to the Nile, where would then be ferried across and
other slaves would come and take over and drag the blocks to the Libyan hills. As
Herodotus had said, they worked by a hundred thousand men at a time, for each
three months continually . This went on for twenty years. However, modern
science proves this to be impossible or extremely hard to achieve when taking in
account the size of the pyramid. According to Herodotus, the pyramid was five
furlongs in length, sixty feet wide and forty eight feet high at its highest point . The
real size of the pyramid is around 750 feet for the sides and 480 feet high. This
measurement differs greatly from Herodotus and creates suspicion on reliability of
Herodotus writing and therefore would not be useful in the study of

Antenna Radiation Pattern When selecting an antenna, both the width of the area
to be covered and the distance of each link must be considered. These
considerations will then determine the type of antenna to use, based on each
antenna s signal pattern. Every antenna has a pattern to the signal. This pattern
applies both to sending and receiving. By convention, the radiation line used to
draw this pattern is placed wherever the power radiating out drops to one half of
the power at the antenna surface. For example, for a dipole antenna:| | As opposed
to a directional antenna:| | | Note in the diagram above that the radiation pattern
does not have an even outline; there is a large main lobe, which is desired, and one
or more side lobes, which are undesirable. These side lobes are also called the minor
lobes. Antennas also have a front to back ratio that is measured in dBs. The forward
gain is the maximum gain at the end of the main lobe of the antenna. The rear gain is
measured either at 180 degrees from the main lobe, or from 90 degrees to 270
degrees from the main lobe. Using the wider sector is the better way to measure this
distance. These back lobes are also undesirable. A front to back ratio of 10 15 dB is
fair, 15 20 dB is good, 20 30 dB is very good, and above 30 dB is excellent. The
regions in between the main and minor lobes are areas of weak signals called nulls.
All antennas have gain, but this may or may not be real

The first piece of evidence that shows any sign of women getting their rights is
when the Underground Railroad stations ran right along the pathway of the Erie
Canal and triggered women forcing themselves into communities and realizing how
disrespected they were being treated. However, since women did not have very
many right they could not make a difference about it. According to Catherine A.
Brekus article Female Preaching in Early Nineteenth Century America women began
working against the grain and started to rebel against them not being able to do any
of the things men can and started with preaching in churches secretly. Eventually,
women did not need to keep it a secret because some churches actually began
allowing women to preach instead of men. In the article, from the National Park
Service, it is stated that along the stations of the Underground Railroad a conference
was made to discuss Women s Rights. During this convention, of sorts, 300 people
responded to discuss Women s Rights. This convention will lead to the Women s
Rights movement after the Civil War, and World War II.
Given these points, it is safe to say that the Erie Canal effect America by its way of
trading, leading to the abolishment of Slavery, and lead to the Women s Rights
movement. So it is important to reflect on fantastic achievements like this because

Bhopal, India (Union Carbide)
Background and history of the Union Carbide Accident
The Union Carbide Accident occurred in 1984 in Bhopal, India. The incident led to a
discharge of approximately 30 tons of highly poisonous gases, including methyl
isocyanate (MIC). The plant was situated in close proximity to shanty outskirts of the
town (Taylor, 2014). Following the incident, close to six hundred thousand people
were exposed to the toxic gas. The effects of the incident on human health were
manifested through nausea, eye and throat burns and eventually, deaths. In addition,
the incident led to retardation of mental development in infants. The average death
toll was reported as 15,000 persons. Today, toxic substances are still evident at the
site (Taylor, 2014).
Ethical Questions or Problems that Came Up
Preliminary investigations point out a fundamentally flawed working environment at
the facility. There was a fundamental departure from the ASCE Canon that requires
engineers to hold paramount the welfare, health and safety of the public ( Code of
Ethics, 2016). Simply, the plant was devoid of adequate operational and safety
instruments. The available instruments such as MIC refrigerators were of poor
quality. This affected the operation of the systems components (Taylor, 2014).
The second ethical issue observed was gross negligence by the government to protect
public interest. Even though three separate

In 1863, a couple of years before Verne composed his novel, Le Plongeur, a 140

Dogs remain one of the friendliest and most beloved animals to humans, but despite
their ability to sustain a lovable reputation, dogs do not possess the ability to realize
the ramifications of their actions. Homes built in the rural area are built fenceless,
giving dogs a literal doorway to run loose because the owner chooses not to enclose

The interview made me reflect about what I want to and why. If I want to become a
school counselor then that would require education beyond a bachelor degree. I had
always picture myself having my own classroom and returning to Kern County to
empower and teach students. After talking to a few social workers in Kern County I
became interested in the field, but that would require me to attend a graduate
program. After graduation I could see myself working in the education field whether
is it counseling students or teaching them I know that I will be making a difference in
