Life In Ancient Egypt
I chose Egypt for my report, first I will start off with Egyptian life.
The Egyptians lives were normally all based on the Nile River, they depended very much so on it.
Once it would flood this meant they were wealthy with the land again. The Egyptians would grow
their own crops, if they could not grow a certain crop that they wanted they would go to the villages
and trade what they had grown with someone for what crop they wanted. Ancient Egypt population
solely consisted of nobles, craftsmen, and farmers. Egyptians also had board games and it did not
make a difference what class you belonged to, you could play if you were poor or a pharaoh which
made this popular during this time.
Trades
The craftsmen who created the items that were being traded were usually skilled men. If he was
indeed a skilled man then he would have an easy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later the Egyptians started to bury the dead in coffins instead of letting them in the desert where they
would be exposed. They soon discovered the dead that were being buried in the coffins did not look
like the dead in the desert, so they figured they would embalm the bodies to make them look life like
once again. First they would wash the dead body with wine then once finished wash the wine off with
water from the Nile, because that was their only water source at the time. Then they would remove the
insides by cutting the body on its left side. They would then remove the intestines, lungs, stomach, and
liver then wrap each individually with natron which would dry each piece up, once finished they
would go through the nose with a stick and break the brain apart so they then could pull it out from the
nose. Then they would cover the body and stuff it with natron, 40 days passed and now it was time to
wash the body one last time and rub it with oils. Last they put the insides they had taken outback in
the body and it is now ready to be

Descriptive Essay On Daddy
I m sure every Daddy has said at least one thing on this list, and has probably regretted it ever since.
When in the heat of the moment, it always seems that you say the most hurtful things to the ones you
love the most. Anger takes hold, and words get thrown around. Let s face it, a majority of littles are
extremely sensitive; and a majority of Daddies are extremely good at saying the wrong thing at the
wrong time. No Daddy is perfect, and mistakes happen; but a good Daddy will learn how to avoid

Genetically Modified Foods Debate
Many consumers do not wish to eat food that has been dosed with pesticides because of the possibility
of health hazards. However, genetically modified foods are quite capable of helping eliminating the
utilization of harmful chemical pesticides. Due to this, many farmers choose and prefer to plant
biotech produce because of this benefit. In recent news, Sudan decided to take part in planting a type
of these crops, Bt cotton. The production of Bt cotton has led to a decrease in the amount of
insecticides used by 50%, reducing the risk of exposure to these chemicals. In China, the use of Bt
cotton has led to a reduction of 78,000 tons of pesticide which covers about a quarter of what China
has sprayed. (ISAAA,
http://www.isaaa.org/resources/publications/briefs/44/executivesummary/default.asp) Furthermore, the
uses of these types of biotech crops allow a reduction of risks associated with agricultural waste run
offs. GMOs in these countries show how they are beneficial especially for preventing environmental
and human contact damage.
As the population on the world continues to increase rapidly, soon farmers will need to find a way to
grow crops in unsuited areas. This is where GMOs come in. A company, Dupont Pioneer, released
eight versions of its customarily bred Aquamax corn and found that it boosts yields up by 7% in
drought conditions compared to regular grown corn. Additionally, interbreeding the genetically
modified food such as the Aquamax corn with ordinary corn can

Ptsd Is An Abbreviation For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder...
Every year there are well over 7 million cases of PTSD that are announced (Kledzik). A small
percentage of the people on Earth at some point in their life span will have some form of PTSD. A
solution that will be able to help these people is commonly referred to as man s best friend. For many
years PTSD dogs have been useful to relieve the severe symptoms of this disorder. They have proven
themselves to be more than just an animal. Post traumatic stress disorder dogs are far beyond just man
s best friend; they protect the protectors far after the wars end. First of all, what exactly is PTSD?
PTSD is an abbreviation for post traumatic stress disorder. One website says that the people that have
this disorder developed it from being in a situation that was threatening or terrifying ( Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder ). This disorder does not only happen with veterans; PTSD can develop in anyone who
has been assaulted, involved in any kind of accident, abuse, tragic loss of a close person, or hurricane
victims. There are many symptoms that can be seen in people who have this disorder; however, the
symptoms can be different between adults and children. In a different article by the Nebraska
Department of Veterans Affairs they mentioned:
Although PTSD symptoms can begin right after a traumatic event, PTSD is not diagnosed unless the
symptoms last for at least one month, and either cause significant distress or interfere with work or
home life. In order to be diagnosed with PTSD,

Coca Cola Vs. Pepsi Cola Essay
The smooth bold refreshing taste as the cold bubbles fizz on your tongue and head down your throat
and into your stomach. Coca Cola is something the average American has drank in his or her lifetime.
This has been in part due to the remarkably intelligent advertisements that were made in post 1945
America. While having emphasis on its refreshing cool taste and convenience, these ads created a
certain attitude with its audience causing the rise in popularity and sales. During this same time Pepsi
was also on the rise competing with Coca Cola. Both Coke and Pepsi used similar strategies but Coca
Cola gave itself a slight edge through innovative technique and the use of lifestyle advertising. Coca
Cola really did create a refreshing beverage but created an ad campaign using refreshing, exciting, and
humorous ads that made your mouth water. Looking at both advertisements as a whole one notices
how all of the ads for both companies are paintings of people, which makes people compare
themselves to something that is not real. At this time many men and women were greatly affected by
these ads. Women particularly would notice the unrealistic waistlines and flawless skin and tone. This
caused them to become self conscience about their bodies because they believed those images to be
something they were to copy. This technique plays with the psyche of our society, which is clever but
very controversial. Established in 1886 and 1889, Coca Cola and Pepsi Co., respectively, were among

Helicobacter Pylori Research Paper
Helicobacter Pylori at Tight Junctions
Prior to the isolation of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori} by Robin Warren and Barry Marshall in 1982,
it was theorized that peptic ulceration, an ailment first described in 1857 by William Brinton, stemmed
from poor diet, tobacco use, and stress due to the failure to definitively identify a causative agent as
well as the belief that the inhospitable environment within the human stomach resulted in its sterility
(Tanenbaum 2005). Because physicians were ignorant to the existence of H. pylori, individuals
suffering from peptic ulcerations underwent ineffective treatments for over a century. The successful
isolation of H. pylori and identification of its role in gastric diseases earned Warren and Marshall a
joint Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2005 (The Nobel Prize 2005). Despite the passage of
thirty two years, modern medicine has been unable to definitively eradicate H. pylori, but research
continues in hopes of developing a more permanent cure as well as effective methods of preventing
initial peptic ulceration, as occurrence is linked to an increased risk of developing gastric carcinomas.

The Hybrid Electric Engine Concept
This summer, I had the opportunity to intern at Pratt Whitney Engines, a subsidiary of United
Technologies Corporation, in East Hartford, CT. Pratt Whitney is one of the largest aircraft engine
makers, for both commercial and military aircraft in the world, with over 31,000 employees that
support more than 11,000 customers around the world. Within Pratt Whitney, there are several areas of
operation. I worked in their Propulsion Systems Analysis in the vehicle systems analysis group. While
working at Pratt Whitney I had the opportunity to work on quite a few projects, including looking at a
hybrid electric engine concept, which was my main project for the semester. The hybrid electric
engine concept was one of several engine concepts that were discussed in the NASA Subsonic Ultra
Green Aircraft Research, otherwise known as SUGAR, research papers. NASA partnered with Boeing
to identify possible aircraft and engine concepts that would meet certain performance, noise, and
emission standards. NASA expected that these concepts would be possible between 2030 and 2045. In
the Phase 1 report, released in 2011, they looked into five aircraft concepts ranging from a 2008
baseline, which was a Boeing 737 aircraft, to a gas turbine battery concept and hybrid wing aircraft. In
NASA s Phase 2 SUGAR report, released in 2012, they updated some information of the aircraft and
engine concepts used in the Phase 1 report along with adding new aircraft and engine concepts. In all

Paris Bordone During The Italian Renaissance
During the Italian Renaissance, societal changes allowed for the introduction of high class pieces of
artwork into the elite community. Artists such as Michelangelo, and Botticelli flourished during this
era, creating masterpieces that continue to relevant in this day, and age. One such painter, Paris
Bordone played a very influential role in the renaissance and produced numerous works such as
Annunciation, the Baptism of Christ, Bathsheba Bathing, with an African Servant, Chess Player, and A
Portrait of a Lady. Born on July 5th, 1500, Bordone lived in Treviso before moving to Venice in his
late adolescence. He applied for a brief apprenticeship with Renaissance giant Titian, and branched
out as a painter by the 1520 s. There he began his career painting biblical portraits in Italy. Somewhere
between 1534 1535, Bordone first gained recognition as an maestro for painting a canvas of the The
Fisherman Presenting the Ring to Doge Gradenigo. This boosted his career, but also showcased his
limitations as his usage of perspective in his painting created dwarfed backgrounds. However, this
didn t detract his fame as he became a famous name in Venetian cultural achievement. Bordone use of
Mannerism lead to his crowning achievement, the Portrait of Giovanni Jacopo Caraglio in 1552. This
piece of art embodies the four ideals of the Renaissance, as well as providing a critic of society. The
Portrait of Giovanni Jacopo Caraglio was fabricated for master goldsmith Giovanni Jacopo

Family Marriage And Family
I am learning many things about family, marriage and relationships. God wants us to show
unconditional love towards others as he has showed us. Marriage takes commitment, according to
Balswick Balswick, (2014) continued commitment in modern marriage is contingent on happiness and
self fulfillment. In today s society it seems like convenience is more of a priority than commitment.
We must first be committed to our God who is wholeheartedly committed to us. In Psalms 37:5 it says
to commit your way to the lord trust in him, and he will act. Marriage is difficult, but it is easier when
we depend on God and not man. Some of the things I will discuss are family, marriage and what God
designed it for. I will also talk about my own experience with marriage and family. According to
Balswick Balswick (2014, Marriage is the process whereby a man and a woman marry and become
one, yet maintain their individual distinctiveness, (p. 4). This is a very sensitive topic for me seeing
that I have two failed marriages. When I walked down the aisle and made that commitment until death
do us part I did not realize that it would not be death but selfishness that pulled us part instead. God
designed marriage to provide, partnerships, spiritual intimacy and the ability to pursue God,
(Heffernan, 2014, p. 7). I now understand what intimacy is and how important it is in a relationship.
Many individuals including myself mistake intimacy as only being about sex. Balswick (2014)

Evolution Of Lincoln s Policy On Slavery Essay
Evolution of Lincoln s policy on slavery in the United States.
Abraham Lincoln was the great man of his generation just as well as he is considered a great man in
history today. He made a huge difference that impacts us greatly today still. He is one of the main
reasons to why we do not have slavery around anymore, along with some help of other people back
then that supported him. Even though, racism still exist today it is not as horrifying and sickening as to
how it was before back in the 1800s. Considering the fact that Abraham Lincoln ended slavery, in
order to have achieve this he created many policies to permanently put slavery to a final end. Some of
these policies were: The Gettysburg Address, the Thirteenth Amendment, Emancipation Proclamation,
and so on. Slavery was a serious problem that needed a solution and he just so happened to be the type
of man that never quit to achieve what he wanted or thought what was right until he achieved his goal.
This is a great quality that he had and some of the reasons to why this man was and is greatly
respected and appreciated before and today. He detested how unequal African Americans were being
treated by the people that supported slavery and thought it was the right thing because African
Americans were only three fifths of a person. He did not like how the people of the black race did not
have all the rights as of the white race, which is why he created the thirteenth amendment. Abraham
Lincoln would make speeches and

The Fantastic Journey Of The Mathematics
Abstract: This paper is to give a brief description of the fantastic journey of the mathematics
throughout the time. It is intended to provide information through archeological about the importance
and use of counting systems by pre historic men. Also, it will illustrate how the development of early
civilizations and mathematics was closed related. Furthermore; it will shows the development as a
magical journey which involved many thousands of years.
The Origins When and where are the origins of mathematics?
The origins of mathematics accompanied the evolution of social systems in many ways. The social
development of any society requires some sort of calculation and the use of a number system. On the
same way, the arithmetic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the invention of numbers and counting systems occurred when people started to live together
and formed the first human society, mathematical scenes was the link that helped them to form
societies and to develop a type of communication system and in a way help them to establish the first
trading system which in turn, was the fundamental factor to establish a communication channel with
other societies. For example, the article titled Mathematics in pre history says that there is an
archeological evidence which describe that they have used some kind of basic mathematics as early as
30, 000 BCE, the article mentions that bone artifacts where discovered that had use for reckoning time
in sequences of numbers that agree with the number of days included in successive phases of the
moon . So, ancient math is an accepted fact, and maybe the first method of counting was just a simple
method like adding tow objects, or dividing food among all the family members. Some scholars agree
that they started counting by using their hands and fingers, others say scientist say that the early man
started counting by using sticks and stones. However, we can only speculate on the effectiveness of
these systems, but it is obvious that despite being so simple it was an effective system for them.

The First Wave Of Psychological Therapy
Mindfulness
The first wave of psychological therapy focused on the clinical application of behavior principles. The
second wave introduced cognition into therapy and linked the idea of irrational thoughts to behavioral
issues (Hayes, Follette, Linehan, 2004). The third wave is the most current theory which focuses on
traditional cognitive behavioral concepts with the addition of mindfulness techniques and the
acceptance of thoughts (Hayes, Masuda, Bissett, Luoma, Guererro, 2004). This third wave of
cognitive behavioral therapies includes such methods as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT;
Hayes, Strosahl, Wilson, 1999), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT; Linehan, Armstrong, Suarez,
Allmon, Heard, 1991), mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT; Segal, Williams, Teasdale,
2002), and mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR; Kabat Zinn, 1994). These various techniques
differ from traditional therapeutic methods in that they focus on accepting problematic thoughts and
emotions for what they are rather than trying to change the thoughts and emotions (Greco Hayes,
2008, p.16).
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness can be defined as focusing in the present through the self regulation of attention to allow
for increased awareness of one s mental events and experiences characterized by acceptance,
openness, and curiosity (Bishop, Lau, Shapiro, Carlson, Anderson, Carmody, et al., 2004, p. 232). A
key component of the third generation therapies are mindfulness

John Stuart Mill The Harm Principle
John Stuart Mill was an English philosopher and a progressive in British politics during the 17th
century. He lived during a time of political transformation in England caused by the Industrial
Revolution. The Industrial Revolution brought social mobility to the middle and lower class, along
with more political participation. With this newfound freedom, the people of England felt their
liberties were being diminished because they had the ability to accomplish all the more but in some
cases, could not. This was just one question of liberty brought up during the time Mill was developing
intellectually (Sparks 186). Mill wrote many works that trifled with the idea of gender equality,
government structure, and economic principles, to name a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The largest and arguably most influential point Mill makes in his essay is that the harm principle does
not only apply to the government anymore but to all of society. In making this argument he is defining
societal values in that it shaped areas in which society must respect personal liberties. He constructs
his statement on how the harm principle is applied to society in three parts. His first assertion pertains
to the liberty of one s own mind. He states, the inward domain of consciousness; demanding liberty of
conscience, in the most comprehensive sense; liberty of thought and feeling; absolute freedom of
opinion and sentiment on all subjects, practical or speculative, scientific, moral, or theological (Mill
20). In saying this, Mill means that a person s liberty cannot be persecuted if they never act on them.
Any thoughts a man may have are his own thoughts and he may think whatever he would like to think.
This has shaped societal values because no one is truly obligated to share what they think today, nor is
it a societal norm to criticize one s opinions if they differ from your own but it does happen. His
second statement addresses the control one individual can have over another. He claims that an
individual can plan their life as they please, and should not be met with the pressure of what others
may see as being abnormal (Mill 20). By saying this, Mill expresses the

The Debate on How Urban Middle Class Identities Have Changed
Materialism is the new karma . (Pavan K Varma, 2005)
Whilst numerical estimates of the Indian middle classes vary drastically, media images contribute to
their portrayal as affluent consumers participants in the IT boom in urban centres such as Hyderabad
and those revelling in India s status as a call centre superpower , particularly thought to symbolise a

For instance a shift in the values of the Malayali middle classes can be partially attributed to the
implementation of colonial legislation instigating the abolition of polygamous practices such as the
Marumakkathayam system of inheritance amongst Nayar communities, whilst increasing nationalist
sentiment contributed to the diminishing importance of unique matrilineal forms in Kerala in favour of
the patrilineal inheritance that prevailed as a middle class norm in the rest of India. (Arunima, 2003).
Note that I have made no distinction between Nayar castes and a Malayali middle class , necessitating
the clarification of two dimensions: reconciling class with the alternative hierarchical structure of
caste; and related to this how the concept of a middle class has changed over time. From this I will

By their fifth birthday, almost all children have been infected by rotavirus. Annually, rotaviruses cause
approximately 111 million incidences of gastroenteritis in children, 2 million hospitalisations, and

by rotavirus, which after infecting the lining of the intestines, triggers severe diarrhoea in young
children.2 However, with the development of vaccines, the threat of disease by rotavirus has been

laser desorption/ionization) and as well as by strand by strand conventional sectional analysis by LC
MS/MS, revealed a substantial concentration of the drug onto the hair bulbs after ingestion and small

allows direct detection and visualization of drugs inside the hair in forensic cases.
Aside from detecting drugs, hair analysis is used to explore environmental substances found at
hazardous waste sites. On June 12th 2001 in Atlanta, Georgia, the Agency for Toxic Substances and
Disease Registry (ATSDR) held a panel of scientific experts to discuss hair analysis from
environmental exposures [6]. The panelist covered wide variety of topic areas such as: analytical
methods, data gaps and research needs, scenarios for which hair analysis may be appropriate; to name
a few. The agency has conducted several hair analyses to assess current exposures, but wants to
determine whether science supports this effort. From this panel, it was concluded that analytical
methods for measuring organic contaminants in human hair are sparse. For most substances measured,
the data is insufficient to predict a health effect from the hair analysis.

Gender Issues Faced By Women Union Membership Essay
As women continue gaining equal representation within the workforce, it should be unsurprising that
women also are steadily gaining ground within union membership. As women union membership
increases, we would also expect women in roles of union leadership to also increase. This is an
important metric to examine, as there are several gender specific work related issues that women
would benefit from being prioritized. Women consistently see lower wages for the same work, fewer
promotion opportunities, and the added stress of childcare responsibilities typically relegated to
mothers. It is possible, therefore, that women look to union leadership to account for these needs. It is

Robert Frost Imagery
Robert Frost is an English poet who wrote several poems during the 1900 s. His poems include The
Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening . Frost s Stopping by Woods on a
Snowy Evening is literally about a person who stops in the woods on the night of December 21st or
the winter solstice. The owner of the woods lives in the village so he will not see the speaker. When
the speaker stops and looks into the woods, his horse shakes his bells. However, the speaker wants to
stay in the woods, but he has miles to ride before he can go to sleep. Through his use of imagery,
figure of speech, and sound effects, Frost illustrates the influences of life and death in Stopping by
Woods on a Snowy Evening .
Frost uses several images to portray the ideas of life and death. For example, Frost writes to watch his
woods fill up with snow (Frost l. 4). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this poem, the rhyme scheme AABA remains constant for the first three stanzas. In the fourth
stanza, the rhyme scheme changes from AABA to AABB. The last line is repeated. Frost, wants the
reader to understand the importance of miles to go before I sleep . Frost repeats this line of poetry
because he wants the reader to see that people must fulfill their responsibilities before they die. In this
line, miles mean years, and sleep means death. The speaker has more years to live before he dies.
Another example of sound effects is Frost s use of alliteration in the form of only other and sound s
the sweep (Frost l. 11) in the line the only other sound s the sweep/ of easy wind and downy flake
(Frost ll. 11 12). This line is very soothing to the reader and implies that death is silent. Then Frost
adds of easy wind and downy flake (Frist l.12). This sound effect is assonance, as one can hear the
breeze of the wind and the snow falling to the ground. These two sounds represent the ideas of death

The Indian National Congress ( Inc )
In May 2014, Indian politics took a historic step into a new direction. Since the beginning of Indian
independence from Great Britain, there have been two dominant political parties that controlled
progression of the nation. The Indian National Congress (INC), one of those parties, was led by the
Gandhi family predominantly. The Bharatiya Janata Party, or BJP, contrasted the INC in almost every
possible way. Nationalist leaders emerged from the working class and opposed INC actions. These
two parties rotate in and out of power. The election in May 2014 resulted in a huge win for the BJP.
Manmohan Singh, the previous Prime Minister and member of the INC, relinquished control of the
Parliament. The ten year INC control of Parliament was officially ended in 2014. The relationship
between the INC and BJP has been very similar to the relationship between Democrats and
Republicans in the United States. Unfortunately, the rift has caused a lot of differences in platform
focus. The INC promotes a globalized nation with international ties to strong and dominant countries.
For example, Manmohan Singh, worked very closely with the United States to increase India s nuclear
power. The BJP has different priorities. They are wedded to India s unity and integrity, its intrinsic
identity and the social strength, individual character and cultural uniqueness that have been the
hallmark of this great country and its people for millennia (BJP, 2014). The BJP focuses on the

Moving To Mexico Research Paper
Imagine waking up to a beautiful view every day, without a care in the world about the expenses of
life, but instead enjoying the perfect weather that makes life just that easier. This would be the perfect
description for the beautiful land of Mexico, that has proven itself to be one of the finest places to live
in. This country would be one of the top three locations people would consider moving to when they
no longer find their way of living in their country to be worthwhile. They are not only attracted to the

On the website Expat Info Desk, an article titled Living in Mexico: A Guide to Moving to Mexico as
an Expat gives people who are considering moving from their country a gist of what it is like to live in
Mexico. Allegedly, one of the most beneficial factors in moving to Mexico is the difference in
currency, that allows middle class Americans to enjoy a high standard of living with lower prices for
basic necessities such as grocery items (Living in Mexico). The drastic difference between a US
Dollar and a Mexican Peso allow young families to adapt to the lifestyle in Mexico easily with only a
small amount of saved up money. Another factor that families focus on when moving is what city to
settle in and how expensive housing will be in those locations. Although places like Mexico City are
far more expensive than other towns and cities, for the most part housing in Mexico is relatively
cheap, in comparison making moderately sized properties the same amount as a small clustered
property in the United States (Living in Mexico). This alone becomes specifically beneficial to
Americans who never get to enjoy luxury time to themselves, or work all day throughout the week to
live a barely lived life, which could all change by moving to a new country. Not only is moving to
Mexico a stable place to start a new life, but a constant vacation with all of the easily accessible

There are many different noises at a wrestling meet. The most noticeable one is the coach s and the
people in the crowd yelling. The coach s yell to get the wrestler to do what they say, and the people in
the crowd yell at the referee s if they think that they did something wrong. You can hear the
cheerleaders pounding on the mat and yelling their cheers. These things can be a negative if you are
sensitive to sounds. If you are in the crowd you will most likely hear kids running up and down the
bleachers when they are either going to the bathroom, or they are trying to find something to do.
When the wrestlers lose their match then they get mad and take off their headgear as fast as they can
and go to the sides. When they throw their gear you can either hear it hit a chair or the floor and it will
make a loud noise. When the wrestlers lose most people stay quiet because they know that if you
cheer then it can make the person that lost feel worse about losing. If the wrestlers lose their meet then
on the way home on the bus the cheerleaders and everyone else have to be quiet so that they can think

Intimidated High School Students
While there are benefits of attending college, there are also significant challenges that affect students.
Specifically, high school students in particular can be intimidated with the overall process of going to

environment, and meeting new people. In addition to these adjustment, students have to deal with the

Similarities And Differences Between South Africa And Haiti
In South Africa the first period up to 1910 indicated the establishment of schools, which were mainly

Parents were responsible for hiring a schoolmaster who moved around with the community providing

Computerized Physician Order Entry systems or CPOE was introduce to the healthcare field to aid in
the reduction of medical errors. The goal of an CPOE system is to reduce healthcare cost by reducing
the number of errors, increasing medication safety. With every new product there will always be some
unexpected problems that may surface. In regards to CPOE those unexpected problems are referred to
as Unintended Adverse Consequences or UAC. According to Sittig Ash, 2011 UAC s are events that
are neither anticipated or unanticipated, they are simply unfortunate mistakes that happens along the
way. Altogether they are nine UAC s they range from: never ending system demands, more/new work
for clinicians, paper persistence, changes in communication patterns and practices, new kinds of error,
change in the power structure, workflow issues, emotions, overdependence on technology (Sittig Ash,
2011). UAC s can have a huge impact on the implementation as well as the ongoing maintenance of
the system. As a result, UAC s can have a negative outcome when it comes to the patient, cause
medical cost to be higher and even unforeseen medical errors. Out of the nine UAC s this analytical

Genetically Foods And Genetically Engineered Food
Research Paper: Genetic Engineered Crops and Animals
This planet sustains various life forms and over time these organisms have evolved to better survive in
the environments in which they live. Humans are constantly trying to improve the world and the
organisms in it. In order to achieve this goal, there is a powerful tool scientists are using called DNA
Technology. It is this technology that allows humans to modify, create, and/or destroy life as we know
it. In this paper, I will review genetically engineered staple foods and genetically engineered animals
and will discuss which is more beneficial for humans.
REVIEW:
Genetically Engineered Staple Foods
Genetically engineered staple foods were created by scientists, using the human s vast knowledge of
DNA technology to enhance live crops. These crops are genetically modified to become the super crop
, which is a crop with special traits such as resistance to insects, diseases, and/or the ability of holding
more nutrients. For example, Golden Rice is a genetically modified variety of rice containing large
amounts of orange and red plant pigments. This is known as beta carotene, a substance which is
essential in the human diet and is a precursor of Vitamin A. It is critical to combating malnourishment
because resolving hunger is not just about having enough to eat, but about having the right
combination of nutrients and calories needed for healthy development (Miyoshi 3). In Professor Naoki

The Shareholder Approach For Managerial Responsibility Essay
The Shareholder approach to managerial responsibility was highlighted in Milton Friedman s New
York Times article The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase Profits . In essence, that article
states that the responsibility of a manager is solely to the shareholders; he or she must follow the
shareholders interests as long as it stays within legal and certain social parameters. In this essay, I will
further explain Friedman s arguments, address main counterpoints, and ultimately argue that Friedman
s conclusion is a correct and normative view of the moral responsibility from the perspective of
management in a non private company.
The shareholder approach to managerial moral responsibility has a few main points that are necessary
to address in explaining Friedman s argument, especially in the context of distinguishing the approach
from other arguments that have been suggested as alternative approaches.
Friedman s first two arguments are similar in nature they both point out the lack of ownership of a
firm s assets by the managers. In his article, Friedman writes:
The stockholders or the customers or the employees could separately spend their own money on the
particular action if they wished to do so. The executive is exercising a distinct social responsibility,
rather than serving as an agent of the stockholders or the customers or the employees, only if he
spends the money in a different way than they would have spent it. (Friedman 212)

The keyboard renders one the ability to dialogue with one s self. Not just with rather, but to. This often

The Results Of Gothic Architecture
The results of Gothic architecture in York
In the 12th century architecture saw the progression from Romanesque architecture to the Gothic era,
which saw the forthcoming of the prodigious cathedrals that were to become the architectural symbol
of the middle ages. This was during a time of high aspirations. As well structural developments Gothic
architecture is also associated with a change in thinking and social attitudes that are represented in
numerous ways, essentially appealing to emotions.
After the fall of the Roman Empire the political culture shifted from the feudal system to monarchy,
bringing forth a cultural identity. Poetry and art became more personal and intimate, giving people
individuality. It reflected the social sustainability of the modern age and the growing confidence of the
Christian Church of Rome, which successfully lead crusades to reclaim the Holy land from the Islamic
occupants. The representation of Christ changed from a godlike hero in the battle between good and
evil to a tortured human figure that sacrificed him self on the cross for the sins of mankind. To
respond, architects believed that light was the closest substance to God s true presence and focused on
making a network of ribs and vaults reaching towards heaven. Pointed arches looked towards the sky
as the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine on it: for the glory of God did lighten
it . (The Bible. Revelation 21:23) The results were specific elements, such

I have been eating plenty of protein lately, but my body was screaming for carbohydrates! As a result,
I succumbed to a three piece extra crispy, dark meat chicken meal from KFC. That, plus the sweet

Richard Rockwell The Connoisseur
This leads us to The Connoisseur, an oil painting on canvas completed in 1961. That year, Rockwell
ambitiously challenged himself to approach the canvas like Jackson Pollack (1912 1956). By laying
the canvas on the floor, his studio was temporarily transformed into an abstract expressionist s
workshop. Rockwell was captivated by the idea of portraying the relationship between conventional
and modern art, juxtaposing his own style alongside a work of nonrepresentational art. Standing with
his back to us, Rockwell allows the viewer to decide for themselves what they think the museum
visitor s reaction is to this Pollack like painting, and indirectly so, what their own opinion is. At the
time, Pollack was the latest buzz and one of the highest paid artist s in America. While we know that
Rockwell appreciates abstract expressionism, we can understand his shock when he learned that such
a large audience was embracing these spontaneous splatters of paint and calling it art. His work was
just the opposite: it was realistic, and ever so carefully planned and thought out. Another way he
demonstrates this is by including a checkered marble floor, which is in stark contrast to Pollock s
arrhythmic splats. However, through imagery, it is as if Rockwell is shaking Pollock s hand, as a

Canada s Most Appreciated Peacekeeping Country

Peacekeeping was not a famous topic until the 1950 s and the cold war. Peacekeeping would not be as

s part as a peacekeeper for the world started in the 1950 s by Lester Pearson (a Canadian researcher,

Canada is the country known for peace for the world and for the future. Canada has continuously
contributed more than enough towards peacekeeping from 1945 to the present. Canada has arranged
many forces for UN missions; has been involved in peacekeeping all over the world. Today, Canada is
a symbol for peace in the future, and has helped to start peacekeeping. Peacekeeping is the
maintenance of international peace security by the deployment of military forces in a particular area

Cause Of The Korean War
Cause of the Korean War The Korean War is often referred to as the forgotten war, but when 5 million
people are killed during a three year period, the war should not be so easily forgotten. (Staff, 2009)
The causes of the war need to be reviewed, so that in the future, humanity can view ways to prevent it
from happening again. There are numerous factors that need to be considered when examining the
causes of the Korean War, such as the way the Korean peninsula came to be North and South Korea,
the role Korea played during the Cold War, the type of governments that were put into place after the
North and South were separated, and the support that was provided to the North and South by other
countries.

The United States also did not want the Soviet Union to strengthen their hold in the Pacific with the
fear of communism spreading across the world. This caused tensions between the two countries that
would bleed over to the commencement of the Korean War and aggravated Cold War relation between
the world s two superpowers.
The Korean War had a profound effect on the Cold War. The USSR and U.S. provided a lot of support
for North and South Korea during and after the war based on the agendas of Moscow and Washington.
After World War II, with the divided of Germany and Korea, the Cold War had started. America
backed by the United Nations wanted free governments in the world and the Soviet Union want to

threat in Europe and the same can be said for the Korean peninsula. (Encyclopedia, 2016) Both
superpowers of the world had their own visions of how the world should look. This is why the Cold
War influence the Korean War, because without the battle of communism versus capitalism, the
Korean War might not have happened, or would have played out very differently. The cause of the
tension in Korea started with the inconclusive split of the country, but the two governments that were

Abortion Is The Choice Of The Woman Holding The Fetus Essay
Abortion is a subject that sparks great debate either for or against. With the country that we live in
today, its moral standards are ever changing and its decisions are scrutinized. Abortions are becoming

because government should not be involved in the choice of its individual people. Religion, and

are to name a few. The Supreme Court is the highest form of government in the United States to
decide these matters and should throw them back down the state where each own can establish its
guidelines to govern these laws and regulations. Sexual Education in the school system is designed to
teach the youth about sexually transmitted diseases, and the risk of what can happen if a life is brought
into this world unplanned. It is at this point where abortion should be discussed and debated so that the
future and those planning on the future can make the decisions with a full

When it comes to political issues people often think, whether someone is a Republican or Democrat,
that politicians have to back their parties legislation no matter what, and that politicians despise each
other if someone is not of the same party affiliation as them. In some cases this could be true;
however, everything is not always black and white, and there are a lot of gray areas when it comes to
some issues. With certain matters, Republicans and Democrats can lay their differences aside and
come together for a cause; human sex trafficking just so happens to be one of those concerns. Along
with multiple other pieces of bipartisan legislation that has been introduced in the past, one that was
introduced as recently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Polaris Project, who is one of the nation s leading organizations for spreading awareness and working
towards putting an end to human sex trafficking, gives a great look into what some potential red flags
can be. Some of the warning signs can include, a person under the age of 18 (but possibly older)
performing sex acts for a pimp or manager. Another sign could be a person who is full of constant fear
and anxiety, avoiding eye contact and not being free to leave and do things that they want. If someone
shows signs of sexual abuse or torture, these are signs that they need help. These are just a few of the
many warning signs and red flags that could potentially show that someone is a victim of human sex
trafficking. This can no longer be ignored. There are resources available for past and present victims
and it is time that they get the help they deserve. It is time to be their

  • 2. Life In Ancient Egypt I chose Egypt for my report, first I will start off with Egyptian life. The Egyptians lives were normally all based on the Nile River, they depended very much so on it. Once it would flood this meant they were wealthy with the land again. The Egyptians would grow their own crops, if they could not grow a certain crop that they wanted they would go to the villages and trade what they had grown with someone for what crop they wanted. Ancient Egypt population solely consisted of nobles, craftsmen, and farmers. Egyptians also had board games and it did not make a difference what class you belonged to, you could play if you were poor or a pharaoh which made this popular during this time. Trades The craftsmen who created the items that were being traded were usually skilled men. If he was indeed a skilled man then he would have an easy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Later the Egyptians started to bury the dead in coffins instead of letting them in the desert where they would be exposed. They soon discovered the dead that were being buried in the coffins did not look like the dead in the desert, so they figured they would embalm the bodies to make them look life like once again. First they would wash the dead body with wine then once finished wash the wine off with water from the Nile, because that was their only water source at the time. Then they would remove the insides by cutting the body on its left side. They would then remove the intestines, lungs, stomach, and liver then wrap each individually with natron which would dry each piece up, once finished they would go through the nose with a stick and break the brain apart so they then could pull it out from the nose. Then they would cover the body and stuff it with natron, 40 days passed and now it was time to wash the body one last time and rub it with oils. When in the heat of the moment, it always seems that you say the most hurtful things to the ones you love the most. Anger takes hold, and words get thrown around. Let s face it, a majority of littles are extremely sensitive; and a majority of Daddies are extremely good at saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. No Daddy is perfect, and mistakes happen; but a good Daddy will learn how to avoid hurting His little girl as much a humanly possible. Most little s are easily affected. • 4. Genetically Modified Foods Debate Many consumers do not wish to eat food that has been dosed with pesticides because of the possibility of health hazards. However, genetically modified foods are quite capable of helping eliminating the utilization of harmful chemical pesticides. Due to this, many farmers choose and prefer to plant biotech produce because of this benefit. In recent news, Sudan decided to take part in planting a type of these crops, Bt cotton. The production of Bt cotton has led to a decrease in the amount of insecticides used by 50%, reducing the risk of exposure to these chemicals. In China, the use of Bt cotton has led to a reduction of 78,000 tons of pesticide which covers about a quarter of what China has sprayed. (ISAAA, http://www.isaaa.org/resources/publications/briefs/44/executivesummary/default.asp) Furthermore, the uses of these types of biotech crops allow a reduction of risks associated with agricultural waste run offs. GMOs in these countries show how they are beneficial especially for preventing environmental and human contact damage. As the population on the world continues to increase rapidly, soon farmers will need to find a way to grow crops in unsuited areas. This is where GMOs come in. A company, Dupont Pioneer, released eight versions of its customarily bred Aquamax corn and found that it boosts yields up by 7% in drought conditions compared to regular grown corn. Additionally, interbreeding the genetically modified food such as the Aquamax corn with ordinary corn can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A small percentage of the people on Earth at some point in their life span will have some form of PTSD. A solution that will be able to help these people is commonly referred to as man s best friend. For many years PTSD dogs have been useful to relieve the severe symptoms of this disorder. They have proven themselves to be more than just an animal. Post traumatic stress disorder dogs are far beyond just man s best friend; they protect the protectors far after the wars end. First of all, what exactly is PTSD? PTSD is an abbreviation for post traumatic stress disorder. One website says that the people that have this disorder developed it from being in a situation that was threatening or terrifying ( Post Traumatic Stress Disorder ). There are many symptoms that can be seen in people who have this disorder; however, the symptoms can be different between adults and children. • 6. Coca Cola Vs. Pepsi Cola Essay The smooth bold refreshing taste as the cold bubbles fizz on your tongue and head down your throat and into your stomach. Coca Cola is something the average American has drank in his or her lifetime. This has been in part due to the remarkably intelligent advertisements that were made in post 1945 America. While having emphasis on its refreshing cool taste and convenience, these ads created a certain attitude with its audience causing the rise in popularity and sales. During this same time Pepsi was also on the rise competing with Coca Cola. Both Coke and Pepsi used similar strategies but Coca Cola gave itself a slight edge through innovative technique and the use of lifestyle advertising. Coca Cola really did create a refreshing beverage but created an ad campaign using refreshing, exciting, and humorous ads that made your mouth water. Looking at both advertisements as a whole one notices how all of the ads for both companies are paintings of people, which makes people compare themselves to something that is not real. At this time many men and women were greatly affected by these ads. Women particularly would notice the unrealistic waistlines and flawless skin and tone. This caused them to become self conscience about their bodies because they believed those images to be something they were to copy. This technique plays with the psyche of our society, which is clever but very controversial. Established in 1886 and 1889, Coca Cola and Pepsi Co., respectively, were among ... • 7. Helicobacter Pylori Research Paper Helicobacter Pylori at Tight Junctions Prior to the isolation of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori} by Robin Warren and Barry Marshall in 1982, it was theorized that peptic ulceration, an ailment first described in 1857 by William Brinton, stemmed from poor diet, tobacco use, and stress due to the failure to definitively identify a causative agent as well as the belief that the inhospitable environment within the human stomach resulted in its sterility (Tanenbaum 2005). Because physicians were ignorant to the existence of H. pylori, individuals suffering from peptic ulcerations underwent ineffective treatments for over a century. The successful isolation of H. pylori and identification of its role in gastric diseases earned Warren and Marshall a joint Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2005 (The Nobel Prize 2005). Despite the passage of thirty two years, modern medicine has been unable to definitively eradicate H. pylori, but research continues in hopes of developing a more permanent cure as well as effective methods of preventing initial peptic ulceration, as occurrence is linked to an increased risk of developing gastric carcinomas. • 9. The Hybrid Electric Engine Concept This summer, I had the opportunity to intern at Pratt Whitney Engines, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation, in East Hartford, CT. Pratt Whitney is one of the largest aircraft engine makers, for both commercial and military aircraft in the world, with over 31,000 employees that support more than 11,000 customers around the world. Within Pratt Whitney, there are several areas of operation. I worked in their Propulsion Systems Analysis in the vehicle systems analysis group. While working at Pratt Whitney I had the opportunity to work on quite a few projects, including looking at a hybrid electric engine concept, which was my main project for the semester. The hybrid electric engine concept was one of several engine concepts that were discussed in the NASA Subsonic Ultra Green Aircraft Research, otherwise known as SUGAR, research papers. NASA partnered with Boeing to identify possible aircraft and engine concepts that would meet certain performance, noise, and emission standards. NASA expected that these concepts would be possible between 2030 and 2045. In the Phase 1 report, released in 2011, they looked into five aircraft concepts ranging from a 2008 baseline, which was a Boeing 737 aircraft, to a gas turbine battery concept and hybrid wing aircraft. In NASA s Phase 2 SUGAR report, released in 2012, they updated some information of the aircraft and engine concepts used in the Phase 1 report along with adding new aircraft and engine concepts. Artists such as Michelangelo, and Botticelli flourished during this era, creating masterpieces that continue to relevant in this day, and age. One such painter, Paris Bordone played a very influential role in the renaissance and produced numerous works such as Annunciation, the Baptism of Christ, Bathsheba Bathing, with an African Servant, Chess Player, and A Portrait of a Lady. Born on July 5th, 1500, Bordone lived in Treviso before moving to Venice in his late adolescence. He applied for a brief apprenticeship with Renaissance giant Titian, and branched out as a painter by the 1520 s. There he began his career painting biblical portraits in Italy. Somewhere between 1534 1535, Bordone first gained recognition as an maestro for painting a canvas of the The Fisherman Presenting the Ring to Doge Gradenigo. This boosted his career, but also showcased his limitations as his usage of perspective in his painting created dwarfed backgrounds. However, this didn t detract his fame as he became a famous name in Venetian cultural achievement. Bordone use of Mannerism lead to his crowning achievement, the Portrait of Giovanni Jacopo Caraglio in 1552. This piece of art embodies the four ideals of the Renaissance, as well as providing a critic of society. • 11. Family Marriage And Family I am learning many things about family, marriage and relationships. God wants us to show unconditional love towards others as he has showed us. Marriage takes commitment, according to Balswick Balswick, (2014) continued commitment in modern marriage is contingent on happiness and self fulfillment. In today s society it seems like convenience is more of a priority than commitment. We must first be committed to our God who is wholeheartedly committed to us. In Psalms 37:5 it says to commit your way to the lord trust in him, and he will act. Marriage is difficult, but it is easier when we depend on God and not man. Some of the things I will discuss are family, marriage and what God designed it for. I will also talk about my own experience with marriage and family. According to Balswick Balswick (2014, Marriage is the process whereby a man and a woman marry and become one, yet maintain their individual distinctiveness, (p. 4). This is a very sensitive topic for me seeing that I have two failed marriages. When I walked down the aisle and made that commitment until death do us part I did not realize that it would not be death but selfishness that pulled us part instead. God designed marriage to provide, partnerships, spiritual intimacy and the ability to pursue God, (Heffernan, 2014, p. 7). I now understand what intimacy is and how important it is in a relationship. Abraham Lincoln was the great man of his generation just as well as he is considered a great man in history today. He made a huge difference that impacts us greatly today still. He is one of the main reasons to why we do not have slavery around anymore, along with some help of other people back then that supported him. Even though, racism still exist today it is not as horrifying and sickening as to how it was before back in the 1800s. Considering the fact that Abraham Lincoln ended slavery, in order to have achieve this he created many policies to permanently put slavery to a final end. Some of these policies were: The Gettysburg Address, the Thirteenth Amendment, Emancipation Proclamation, and so on. Slavery was a serious problem that needed a solution and he just so happened to be the type of man that never quit to achieve what he wanted or thought what was right until he achieved his goal. This is a great quality that he had and some of the reasons to why this man was and is greatly respected and appreciated before and today. He detested how unequal African Americans were being treated by the people that supported slavery and thought it was the right thing because African Americans were only three fifths of a person. He did not like how the people of the black race did not have all the rights as of the white race, which is why he created the thirteenth amendment. Abraham Lincoln would make speeches and ... The second wave introduced cognition into therapy and linked the idea of irrational thoughts to behavioral issues (Hayes, Follette, Linehan, 2004). The third wave is the most current theory which focuses on traditional cognitive behavioral concepts with the addition of mindfulness techniques and the acceptance of thoughts (Hayes, Masuda, Bissett, Luoma, Guererro, 2004). This third wave of cognitive behavioral therapies includes such methods as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT; Hayes, Strosahl, Wilson, 1999), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT; Linehan, Armstrong, Suarez, Allmon, Heard, 1991), mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT; Segal, Williams, Teasdale, 2002), and mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR; Kabat Zinn, 1994). These various techniques differ from traditional therapeutic methods in that they focus on accepting problematic thoughts and emotions for what they are rather than trying to change the thoughts and emotions (Greco Hayes, 2008, p.16). What is mindfulness? Mindfulness can be defined as focusing in the present through the self regulation of attention to allow for increased awareness of one s mental events and experiences characterized by acceptance, openness, and curiosity (Bishop, Lau, Shapiro, Carlson, Anderson, Carmody, et al., 2004, p. 232). He lived during a time of political transformation in England caused by the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution brought social mobility to the middle and lower class, along with more political participation. With this newfound freedom, the people of England felt their liberties were being diminished because they had the ability to accomplish all the more but in some cases, could not. This was just one question of liberty brought up during the time Mill was developing intellectually (Sparks 186). The largest and arguably most influential point Mill makes in his essay is that the harm principle does not only apply to the government anymore but to all of society. In making this argument he is defining societal values in that it shaped areas in which society must respect personal liberties. He constructs his statement on how the harm principle is applied to society in three parts. His first assertion pertains to the liberty of one s own mind. He states, the inward domain of consciousness; demanding liberty of conscience, in the most comprehensive sense; liberty of thought and feeling; absolute freedom of opinion and sentiment on all subjects, practical or speculative, scientific, moral, or theological (Mill 20). In saying this, Mill means that a person s liberty cannot be persecuted if they never act on them. Any thoughts a man may have are his own thoughts and he may think whatever he would like to think. This has shaped societal values because no one is truly obligated to share what they think today, nor is it a societal norm to criticize one s opinions if they differ from your own but it does happen. His second statement addresses the control one individual can have over another. He claims that an individual can plan their life as they please, and should not be met with the pressure of what others may see as being abnormal (Mill 20). By saying this, Mill expresses the ... • 20. Gender Issues Faced By Women Union Membership Essay As women continue gaining equal representation within the workforce, it should be unsurprising that women also are steadily gaining ground within union membership. As women union membership increases, we would also expect women in roles of union leadership to also increase. This is an important metric to examine, as there are several gender specific work related issues that women would benefit from being prioritized. Women consistently see lower wages for the same work, fewer promotion opportunities, and the added stress of childcare responsibilities typically relegated to mothers. It is possible, therefore, that women look to union leadership to account for these needs. It is also then likely that these needs are more consistently prioritized by union leadership where women are adequately represented. There are many issues facing women today in the workplace. • 29. Computerized Physician Order Entry Systems Computerized Physician Order Entry systems or CPOE was introduce to the healthcare field to aid in the reduction of medical errors. The goal of an CPOE system is to reduce healthcare cost by reducing the number of errors, increasing medication safety. With every new product there will always be some unexpected problems that may surface. In regards to CPOE those unexpected problems are referred to as Unintended Adverse Consequences or UAC. According to Sittig Ash, 2011 UAC s are events that are neither anticipated or unanticipated, they are simply unfortunate mistakes that happens along the way. Altogether they are nine UAC s they range from: never ending system demands, more/new work for clinicians, paper persistence, changes in communication patterns and practices, new kinds of error, change in the power structure, workflow issues, emotions, overdependence on technology (Sittig Ash, 2011). UAC s can have a huge impact on the implementation as well as the ongoing maintenance of the system. As a result, UAC s can have a negative outcome when it comes to the patient, cause medical cost to be higher and even unforeseen medical errors. Out of the nine UAC s this analytical report will focus on the workflow issues. Workflow according to (Campbell, Guappone, Sittig, DyksTra, Ash, 2008) is the activities, tools and processes needed to produce or modify work, product or services. Genetically Foods And Genetically Engineered Food Research Paper: Genetic Engineered Crops and Animals This planet sustains various life forms and over time these organisms have evolved to better survive in the environments in which they live. Humans are constantly trying to improve the world and the organisms in it. In order to achieve this goal, there is a powerful tool scientists are using called DNA Technology. It is this technology that allows humans to modify, create, and/or destroy life as we know it. In this paper, I will review genetically engineered staple foods and genetically engineered animals and will discuss which is more beneficial for humans. REVIEW: Genetically Engineered Staple Foods Genetically engineered staple foods were created by scientists, using the human s vast knowledge of DNA technology to enhance live crops. These crops are genetically modified to become the super crop , which is a crop with special traits such as resistance to insects, diseases, and/or the ability of holding more nutrients. For example, Golden Rice is a genetically modified variety of rice containing large amounts of orange and red plant pigments. This is known as beta carotene, a substance which is essential in the human diet and is a precursor of Vitamin A. It is critical to combating malnourishment because resolving hunger is not just about having enough to eat, but about having the right combination of nutrients and calories needed for healthy development (Miyoshi 3). • 31. The Shareholder Approach For Managerial Responsibility Essay The Shareholder approach to managerial responsibility was highlighted in Milton Friedman s New York Times article The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase Profits . In essence, that article states that the responsibility of a manager is solely to the shareholders; he or she must follow the shareholders interests as long as it stays within legal and certain social parameters. In this essay, I will further explain Friedman s arguments, address main counterpoints, and ultimately argue that Friedman s conclusion is a correct and normative view of the moral responsibility from the perspective of management in a non private company. The shareholder approach to managerial moral responsibility has a few main points that are necessary to address in explaining Friedman s argument, especially in the context of distinguishing the approach from other arguments that have been suggested as alternative approaches. Friedman s first two arguments are similar in nature they both point out the lack of ownership of a firm s assets by the managers. In his article, Friedman writes: The stockholders or the customers or the employees could separately spend their own money on the particular action if they wished to do so. The executive is exercising a distinct social responsibility, rather than serving as an agent of the stockholders or the customers or the employees, only if he spends the money in a different way than they would have spent it. There is something simple and flowing about a keyboard. The keyboard renders one the ability to dialogue with one s self. Not just with rather, but to. The Results Of Gothic Architecture The results of Gothic architecture in York In the 12th century architecture saw the progression from Romanesque architecture to the Gothic era, which saw the forthcoming of the prodigious cathedrals that were to become the architectural symbol of the middle ages. This was during a time of high aspirations. As well structural developments Gothic architecture is also associated with a change in thinking and social attitudes that are represented in numerous ways, essentially appealing to emotions. After the fall of the Roman Empire the political culture shifted from the feudal system to monarchy, bringing forth a cultural identity. Poetry and art became more personal and intimate, giving people individuality. It reflected the social sustainability of the modern age and the growing confidence of the Christian Church of Rome, which successfully lead crusades to reclaim the Holy land from the Islamic occupants. The representation of Christ changed from a godlike hero in the battle between good and evil to a tortured human figure that sacrificed him self on the cross for the sins of mankind. To respond, architects believed that light was the closest substance to God s true presence and focused on making a network of ribs and vaults reaching towards heaven. • 36. Richard Rockwell The Connoisseur This leads us to The Connoisseur, an oil painting on canvas completed in 1961. That year, Rockwell ambitiously challenged himself to approach the canvas like Jackson Pollack (1912 1956). By laying the canvas on the floor, his studio was temporarily transformed into an abstract expressionist s workshop. Rockwell was captivated by the idea of portraying the relationship between conventional and modern art, juxtaposing his own style alongside a work of nonrepresentational art. Standing with his back to us, Rockwell allows the viewer to decide for themselves what they think the museum visitor s reaction is to this Pollack like painting, and indirectly so, what their own opinion is. At the time, Pollack was the latest buzz and one of the highest paid artist s in America. While we know that Rockwell appreciates abstract expressionism, we can understand his shock when he learned that such a large audience was embracing these spontaneous splatters of paint and calling it art. His work was just the opposite: it was realistic, and ever so carefully planned and thought out. Another way he demonstrates this is by including a checkered marble floor, which is in stark contrast to Pollock s arrhythmic splats. (Staff, 2009) The causes of the war need to be reviewed, so that in the future, humanity can view ways to prevent it from happening again. There are numerous factors that need to be considered when examining the causes of the Korean War, such as the way the Korean peninsula came to be North and South Korea, the role Korea played during the Cold War, the type of governments that were put into place after the North and South were separated, and the support that was provided to the North and South by other countries. The Korean War had a profound effect on the Cold War. The USSR and U.S. provided a lot of support for North and South Korea during and after the war based on the agendas of Moscow and Washington. After World War II, with the divided of Germany and Korea, the Cold War had started. America backed by the United Nations wanted free governments in the world and the Soviet Union want to have control over the world under communist governments. The Soviets saw the United Nations as a threat in Europe and the same can be said for the Korean peninsula. • 41. Abortion Is The Choice Of The Woman Holding The Fetus Essay Abortion is a subject that sparks great debate either for or against. With the country that we live in today, its moral standards are ever changing and its decisions are scrutinized. Abortions are becoming justified and should be the choice of the woman holding the fetus. This choice should be supported because government should not be involved in the choice of its individual people. Religion, and science will always cause friction when educating people on how a human life is or should be treated. Abortion is more than educating people, it has psychological factors, and it has short term, and long term effects. The financial matters and who bears the overall long term effect, society or the individual needs to be addressed. The Supreme Court of the United States has been involved in highly publicized cases of abortion; Rowe v Wade, Gonzales v. Carnhart, Ayotte v. Planned Parenthood of New England, are to name a few. The Supreme Court is the highest form of government in the United States to decide these matters and should throw them back down the state where each own can establish its guidelines to govern these laws and regulations. Sexual Education in the school system is designed to teach the youth about sexually transmitted diseases, and the risk of what can happen if a life is brought into this world unplanned.
