1. PROBLEMS FACED BY CITIES TODAY
• Poor infrastructure set up such as roads, schools and
hospitals, housing, which get damaged soon as well as they
are not sustainable.
• Income inequality is often a prominent feature in most
developing countries, where the gap between the rich and
the poor continuously increases.
• Political instability faced by countries, in which constantly civil
war leads to a lot of resources getting wasted and economic
instability as foreign ventures are skeptical investing in the
country’s economy.
• Increasing levels of pollution with the increase in the number
of industries, many of which fail to abide to environmental
restricts put into order to curb the various types of
pollution.
2. ECONOMIC VISION
• The country should provide incentives for companies
which contributes to the Global economy and increases
job opportunities in various sectors that benefit the
population as a whole.
• The trade of the country should be steady enough either
with the help of government subsidies so that there is
economic stability and the country should be strong in
the foreign markets with the help of economic policies
which favor investment in the country
3. SOCIAL VISION
• Provide for monetary security for unemployed people.
• Female Foeticide needs to be reduced as shown in a
survey Afghanistan, Congo, Pakistan, India and Somalia
are ranked in increasing order. They should promote the
girl child otherwise the sex ratio will go haywire
• Malnutrition is rampant world wide, people should be
provided with food security or subsidized food items. So
the growing generation of the country can be healthy.
4. ENVIRONMENTAL VISION
• In the city there should be checks on the amount of
pollution being let out from cars. Stricter fines imposed
for people who do not comply with the environmental
regulations.
• Make more greens buildings for sustainable
development
• Make it a rule for the construction companies to make
only sustainable building which include rain water
harvesting, solar heating because of the depleting
resources and damage caused to the earth.
• Provide for tax incentives for companies which make
green buildings.
5. TECHNOLOGICAL VISION
• Fund research for various kinds of projects, such as making a
car which is battery operated
• Better funding options for research for various kinds of
medical advances such as a cure for HIV/AIDS.
• Technological advances for better housing, better materials
and better quality of life. As the building will be able to absorb
shocks from any natural calamity and will not crumble down
easily which endangers the human kind.
• Providing for sensors which show you available parking
spaces in the city
• Because according to a survey 30% of the traffic jams is
caused by people finding parking. As well as people park in
places meant for pedestrians
• Providing for voice recognition in important places such a
banks for better security because of the poor condition there
has been an increased amount of theft.
6. CITY OF THE FUTURE
Given the above points I envision the city of the future to be -
• A carbon neutral city which self-reliable and sustainable with
respect to the use of solar power, reduction of fossil fuel, wind
farms which convert the energy into electricity etc.
• Building should have a green roof and use LED technology to
save expenditure
• Large organic farms on the outskirts of city to make urban
areas more self-sustainable
• In terms of technology, social and economic vision for the
future. I envision the technological aspect having high levels
of security and easy accessibility. On the social front i
envision it to be a safe, crime free and on the economic front
I would envision it to promote the city to be self sustained and
have open markets.
