Jeffrey Bauman s Heroism In The Film Stronger
Introduction The film Stronger (2015) based on the memoir of Jeffrey Bauman directed by David
Green, focuses on his life after losing his legs in the Boston Marathon bombings. In the early scenes
of Stronger, the movie shows Bauman s life of recovery and adaptation to living as a disabled man.
Bauman becomes a symbol of hope and inspiration to the people after the bombing. Bauman comes
home to his mother and sees tons of care packages and thank you letters from people who believe he is
an inspiring hero. The day of the Boston marathon, he was waiting for his girlfriend to cross the finish
line while standing a couple inches away from one of the bombs. After the blast, he becomes one of
the most recognizable survivors because of a photo that went viral. The iconic image shows rescuers
saving him thereby depicting him as incapable. He becomes the disabled on screen character who
inspires others. In one scene, he is honored to carry the Boston Strong Flag at the Bruins Game
because he became a figure of heroism to the people of Boston. Green celebrates Bauman s triumph in
the face of disability, depicts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here when Bauman opens his letters and care packages, his father states: Bauman kind of becomes a
symbol to a lot of people (36:15). The quote itself shows how the film portrays disability in Bauman s
life. His disability became a comfort and sympathy ploy to the non disabled movie viewers. Director
Green shows us the incapability of Bauman and how he needs to rely on others while portraying him
as the hero of disabled people. The film shows the pleasant side of the protagonist Bauman s life after
his injury while, showing the unwanted aspect of being disabled. Director Green suggests the life of
the inspiring hero isn t wanted. Although director Green depicts a correlation between Bauman being
disabled and his heroic status, is Bauman really a hero if no one wants to be in his

Why Do People Fall Under Nazi Rule
Under Nazi rule, most countries could do nothing but comply. They all had to fall under Nazi rule and
do as they said. That meant turning over their Jews and doing exactly as Hitler demanded. Some
people showed moral courage in the face of the Nazis instead, but rarely was there a whole country
that tried to save themselves before falling under German demand. However, there was one country
that didn t comply despite its disadvantage to Germany: Denmark resisted Nazi rule which shows a
great example of a whole country working together to save their people.
When Denmark was invaded during World War II, they decided to try and resist their rule instead of
comply with all of their demands. One of these was trying to take all of the Jews. An example of
saving them was Georg Ferdinand Duckwitz who was a German diplomat. When he learned that
Germany was planning to purge all of the Jews, he warned the country so that they were able to get

There are many stories about a single person or a small group of people who risked their lives to save
Jews during World War II. However, it is rare to see a whole country able to do such an amazing,
courageous thing for people living in their boarders. The Jews got government help to get away from
Nazi rule and not every country did this. This story is inspiring because it shows that even a whole
country and chose to do the right things when faced with an impossible choice. To most countries, it
seemed as if the only thing they could do was comply with Nazi orders and fall under their rule. For
Denmark, though, it was the opposite. They found it impossible to do anything but save their citizens.
This story can give us hope to resist a bigger force and ignore the consequences if it is for a better
cause. This shows how many people can come under a good moral direction: one toward helping
others for the sake of those in

Character Analysis Of Gimph In Lord Of The Flies
the new environment. He chooses neither. Instead, he exceeds the preposition and completely submits
to the savagery. Jack commits hateful, cruel acts. He kills Simon as well as condemning the death of
Piggy. He dresses up in camouflage and aggressively kills animals. For example, Jack made a rush and
stabbed at Ralph s chest with his spear.... They were chest to chest, breathing fiercely, pushing and
glaring (177). This shows his complete transformation. Ralph hadn t transformed like Jack, and didn t
feel the constant pressure. Jack constantly needed more power and more fear. He needed to devote
himself to the island. He wanted to act upon all evil urges. As stated, They were savages it was true;
We see now from Ralph s side, that Jack twisted the tribes mind like a devil would to the point of
making them little savages (185). Since Jack had yielded, he had to turn everyone else too. Jack
resembles Gimpel in many ways. As Gimpel was confronted with darkness that altered the way he
thought about the world, so was Jack. Both characters allow urges that linger in the back of their mind
to assert control. Unlike Ralph, both characters could not resist temptation. However, Ralph is able to
stick with his morals, even as everything is taken away from him. He is starving, hurt, and truly alone,
yet he still holds onto himself. Ultimately, the evil and hatred Jack possessed trump Ralphs realistic
and fair ideals. This is because of everyone has their own battles within.

Advanced Nursing Philosophy
When discerning about my respective philosophy of nursing, I think back to all of the theories and
elements of advance nursing that we have been educated on throughout the duration of this program. I
have stepped back and considered the following three elements for the construction of my philosophy:
1) the definite science, 2) the constructive knowledge, and 3) the position in which nursing lies as a
societal arrangement. For further construction of the advanced philosophy, it was vital to consider the
four paradigms contusive to nursing: 1) human beings, 2) health, 3) environment, and 4) nursing.
Advanced practice nursing provides us tools and abilities to further help patients reach goals and
connectedness. An Advanced Practice Nurse holds

Review of the Literature
The Aspen education group in conjunction with The American Academy of Pediatrics, reported that
36.9 percent of 14 year olds have engaged in sexual intercourse. This equates to more than one out of
three teenagers being involved in sexual behavior. It was also reported from this organization that high
school youth were reported to have been sexually active at a percentage of 66.4%. This is alarming
and reflects the fact that teenagers are sexual active at extremely high rates. The public have been
made known to the fact by government sponsored initiatives that sexual activity amongst youth has
steadily increased over the past thirty years. Teenagers have an intense interest ... Show more content

Being correctly educated comes in the form of proper contraceptive measures such as condom use,
birth control, or just abstaining from sex period. An author by the name of Dr. Bogle, wrote a book
about the changing culture of teenage hooking up. Hooking up in the 60s used to be defined as making
out. Hooking Up: Sex, Dating and Relationships on Campus (N.Y.U. Press, 2008) stated that dating
rules between teenagers began to change in the 1960s. After this time what could be seen as a
normality with teen dating swiftly and significantly changed. Today, dating and hooking up is totally
different from what some parents and grandparents defined as dating and hooking up. The birth rate
among teenagers in the United States rose three percent in 2006. This was reported as the first such
increase since 1991. Two thirds of the 65 million people living with incurable diseases are aged

The Constitutional Federalism Of Canada
Canada as a country was founded on the constitutional premise of federalism, a governmental system
in which the federal and provincial governments are equal and separate entities together in political
coalition. Quebec joined Confederation in 1867 on the constitutional promise of equality. French
speaking Canadians were assured provincial control of their social programs, health, and education.
The premise of shared sovereignty acknowledged the variation between distinct peoples in Canada
and their particular political culture s. On May 14th, 1980 former Liberal Prime Minister of Canada
Pierre Elliott Trudeau delivered his final speech in his campaign against former Quebec Premier, Rene
Levesque s referendum on separation from Canada. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Former Prime Minister Trudeau cleverly disguised the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms as a
heroic constitutional amendment providing universal individual and minority rights, in order to
effectively cloak the embedded attack on Quebec Nationalism, through the Charter of Rights and
Freedoms assimilative properties. Further, The Charter of Rights and Freedoms lacked recognition and
consideration in regard to Quebec s expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of federalism in
Canada. The issues were the absence of recognition for Quebec as a distinct society within Canada,
the consolidation and centralization of greater power to the federal government, and the lessening of
powers held by the provincial government. Trudeau Sr. s personal disdain for Quebec nationalism and
his attempts to extinguish it, caused him to overlook the reality of Quebec s political culture, and the
impossibility of transforming a society through change to the constitution. Following Trudeau s
attempts at constitutional reform in Canada, former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney s Progressive
Conservatives would attempt reconciliation to mend Quebec Canada relations. Ultimately ending in
failure leading to greater French unrest in Canada. This essay will demonstrate the impact of the
Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, as a falsely conceived strategy to remediate Quebec
Canada (French English) relations, and scale the damage to the

Discourse Analysis In Carl Sanburg s Grass
When analyzing a poem, it is important to understand the language that is being used. When applying
discourse theory to a poem, it is important to analyze the language beyond the sentence itself.
Discourse analysis studies the natural use of language, rather than the invented examples. The main
objective of discourse analysis is to create a better understanding of how language is used through
textual features and what effects it has on that investment. Texts often require these features that
enables the reader to understand the motivation of that author. In his poem, Grass, Carl Sanburg
utilizes verbs, proper nouns, and nouns to efficiently erase the signs of the past. In the poem, Grass,
the author uses many linguistic features throughout the poem, verbs being one of them. Verbs are
defined as words that are used to describe an action or a state, forming the main objective of the
sentence. Sanburg uses verbs consistently throughout his poem to describe the actions in the poem.
The first sentence of the poem states, Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo (Sanburg). He
uses the word pile, which can be inferred as a noun or a verb, which in this sentence is used as a verb.
The verb pile can infer two different meanings, one defined as placing things one on top of another
whereas the second meaning defines the entry of a large group in a disorganized manner. The
application of this word symbolizes the insignificant importance of these bodies that now lay atop one

Interview With A Teacher With Lori Bunting
I interviewed a teacher from Seckman High School named Lori Bunting. I asked Lori several
questions and she gave me more insight on the teaching career. Lori graduated from Southeast
Missouri State in in 2000 with her Bachelors in Secondary Education and Mathematics. She then
received her masters in classroom teaching in 2008 from Missouri Baptist University. With student
teaching in my near future I thought asking her about her student teacher experience would give me
some advice on what my next steps are. Lori student taught at two different schools and for eight
weeks each. The first place she student taught was at Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, Missouri.
Lori stated that the school was very small and only had one math teacher. She said this gave her an
insight of what it would feel like to teach in a small school. On the other hand, she also taught at Cape
Central High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She said she really enjoyed this experience because
the school was much bigger and she felt more involved in the school. She said that unlike today, she
had no choice of where she student taught but she was grateful for the experience she had at both Oak
Ridge High School and Cape Central High School. As a future teacher I was curious what the day to
day life of a teacher consists of. I asked Lori to explain to me what a typical day as a teacher looks
like. Lori told me that she normally arrives to school about 45 minutes before the day begins and gets

I Am A College Student
I m a college student on a typical college student s budget, and I moved into my apartment about a
year ago. Let me tell you this, I just now decorated my room. Yes, I spent an entire year staring at
stark white walls, with nothing but last years calendar and my celebrity crush of the moment hanging
o the wall beside my bed. There s nothing inviting about an undecorated room, in fact it s sort of
depressing, and I wouldn t recommend it to anyone. No matter what your budget, decorating is
important and can be done. Here s how I gave my room a personal touch for less than $100. Like most
people the first thing I thought of to decorate my walls with were pictures. Little did I know how
expensive pictures could be. I first looked for framed pictures at discount retailers like Target, figuring
I could get a good deal. Wrong. Even their smaller pictures cost about $30, and while that isn t really
expensive, it was just a tad bit more than I wanted to spend on one item. I did come across a rather
small rectangular picture for $10 in the sale bin at Rite Aid, and a matching pillar candle for the same
price at Kmart, but those items ended up in my bathroom so they don t count towards the total for my
room. The point is, however, that we can t discriminate against those really cheap shops. To find good
pictures for a really low price I recommend going to unexpected places, such as Rite Aid. Believe it or
not, you might just find one or two items you like. If all else fails,

Bomba And Orquestas Influence On American Music
Did you know that most of the modern musical forms have come from ancestor s past sense of music?
From bomba to plena, Cajun music to swamp pop and zydeco and conjunto and orquesta Tejano to tex
mex, music has long been the art of retaking art forms and molded it into different art. Music will
continue to thrive and evolve if it remains organic in its nature. Bomba dates to the colonial period of
Puerto Rico, and Plena would arrive on the scene in the early 20th century taking roots from bomba in
southern Puerto Rico. This percussion driven music was meant to move people to dance. And while
both are often mentioned as the same group, there is differences in each. Bomba is often accompanied
with sixteen beats, unlike Plena which has one basic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Orquestas existed prior to the new movement, but they were toned down from what they were today.
Orquestas commonly consisted of one or two violins and ushered with guitar accompanist. But as new
generations came became more Americanized, they started to blend their culture with Americans, the
result was orquestas Tejano. Orquesta tejana was often looked down upon by Mexican nationals, for
downplaying their own cultural heritage and joining the American mainstream, this divided the two
groups. Two such innovators of Orquesta tejana were Armando Marroqoin and Paco Betancourt, these
two formed Ideal records in 1946. Armando would reach national stardom, when he produced Las
Delicas (Polka) and his ranchero style. However, while most of the popular age of Orquesta Tejana
was in the 1940 s 1950 s It continues to thrive today in the form of Tex Mex, and La Onda Chicana.
Another popular group that pioneered Tejano introducing blues and swing into their music was
Carmen y Laura. Carmen y Laura would pave the way for new pioneers to branch off and to start new
and ground breaking genres. In San Antonio, Falco Jimenez would revolutionize the Tejano style with
introducing accordion. Nortena or the Music of the North became a national mainstay. Carmen y
Laura would become the forerunners to introduce Spanish music to the increasing American

Benefits Of Critical Race Theory
Furthermore, the critical race theory approach draws attention to African Americans seeking to break
historical norms to create a new respect for their race. For example, Natchez, who claims himself to be
James Fulton s nephew confines in Lila Mae about his desire to obtain his uncle s black box, which
will not only benefit his family but the African American race as a whole. Natchez said, They always
take away from our people. I don t know if they know he was colored... When I hear them talk about
his invention, they always saying it s the future. It s the future of the cities. But it s our future, not
theirs. It s ours. And we need to take it back (Whitehead, 140). This quote strengthens the argument of
critical race theory because as previously

The Individuals With Disabilities Education Act Orders
The Individuals With Disabilities Education Act orders all states to give disabled students a free and
appropriate education. Many schools in the United States mainstream disabled students and have
succeeded in properly educating them, along with creating a safe environment where they are socially
comfortable and accepted. However, there are too many incidents where teachers improperly handle
these students and administrators do not give enough money to fund adequate supplies for these
students. Although disabled students gain social benefits when mainstreamed, they ultimately do not
thrive in such settings due to immoral methods and insufficient budgets. In academic settings, disabled
students have access to more opportunities and many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most importantly, children with disabilities have the opportunities to observe, imitate and model the
language use of their peers who do not have disabilities (Grabmeier). By following their nondisabled
friends, disabled students learn how to better communicate their thoughts, feelings and ideas which
makes it easier for teachers to help them and understand them. Another beneficial skill disabled
students receive through mainstreaming is positive thinking. According to Kathy Foust, the
mainstreaming environment allows disabled students to learn what type of behavior is appropriate and
what is not. They learn that listening to a teacher leads to little or no punishments while disobeying a
teacher leads to more punishments. Foust also includes that mainstreaming stimulates self esteem
because the disabled know they are in regular classes, which makes them proud of themselves. These
students believe that since they are in classrooms with nondisabled students, they are in higher and
more advance classes. In other words, since students around the disabled are capable of extraordinary
things, the disabled feel like they are extraordinary as well, thus having an improved self esteem. The

The Current Budget Of State Of Michigan
This report provides data on the current budget of the State of Michigan. It includes data on state
government finances based on information collected from the 2014 Comprehensive Annual Financial
Report CAFR, and the State of Michigan Executive Budget for the fiscal year 2016. This report covers
the following: revenues, expenditures, and debt, fund balances, and credit rating. For many years,
Michigan s economy declined while the nation s economy thrived. Grasping this one state recession is
essential for determining Michigan s economic present and future. It is also important to understand
why Michigan stayed in a recession while the rest of the country s economy flourished, and why it
ended, because those may be vital solutions to avoiding another downturn. This report is divided into
four sections. The first section introduces the State of Michigan and gives a brief contextual. The
second section gives a brief historical background of Michigan s economy. The third section glances
into the state budget and provides a thorough analysis and discussion of the financial data. The fourth
section discusses the similarities and differences between Michigan and Minnesota in terms of budget
management and budget balancing strategies. Introduction Demographics Michigan is the eleventh
largest state in the United States with a population of 9.9 million. That is an increase of 0.27 percent
since 2010 (US Census Bureau). The State covers 56,538 square miles. More than half the

Questions On Properties Of Soils
2.3 Results and discussion
2.3.1 Physicochemical properties of soils
Soil properties are shown in Table 2.1. These soils had a loamy texture with different contents of clay,
sand and silt. pH values ranged from 4.45 to 7.73. TC was in the range of 1.6 to 8.37 % without
significant amounts of TN and TS detected. TOC varied between 1.48 and 8.37% whilst DOC showed
a wide range from 106 to 400 mg kg 1. CEC values ranged from 2.9 to 17.9 cmol kg 1. Concentrations
of Fe oxide, Al oxide, and Mn oxide were 0.28 12.49 g kg 1, 0.5 12.6 g kg 1 and 0.0252 0.302 g kg 1,
respectively. Total concentrations of As and Cd in control and spiked soil after one year aging were
listed in Table S1 (Appendix 2). The difference between the spiked concentrations and measured ones
may be due to the particle size (spiked soils were sieved to 250 μm particle size was used for all
measurements.
2.3.3 Relationships between the bioaccessibility, total concentrations and selected soil properties
Strong linear relationships between bioaccessible As/Cd (both gastric and intestinal phases) and total
As/Cd in soils were observed with R2 varying between 0.72 and 0.98 (Figure 2.1). Therefore, within
the spiked concentrations of As and Cd in this study, the soluble As and Cd during UBM extraction
increased proportionally along with total concentrations in soils. Relations in gastric phase was
stronger than that in intestinal phase probably due to the high solubility of both As and Cd in the
gastric phase. These

Red Blood Cells Lab Report
The experiment confirms the hypothesis as, when compared to the isotonic environment, the sheep red
blood cells that were exposed to a hypotonic environment either expanded or lysed. The increased
ECF s absorbance in the three hypotonic solutions show that more light was absorbed an indicator of a
ruptured red blood cell. Although the 50mM solution produced a lower absorbance than the 100mM
solution when the expected amount of the former should have been higher than the latter, the
hypotonic solution still has a larger absorbance than the isotonic solution.
It is worth noting that the hypotonic environments produced the clearest red solutions. In all three
hypotonic environments, high absorbance values in comparison to the isotonic controlled environment
were collated (Table 3). When taking into account osmosis, this could be a result from the sheep red
blood cells rupturing and releasing haemoglobin as too much water was absorbed (Lluka 2016). The

Thus, the concentration of solutes in his red blood cells (ICF) is lower than the concentration of his
ECF. As a result, the water in the ICF moves into the ECF; causing the cells to shrink (Reece et al.
2014). In order to treat Baxter, his blood cells must expand to regain their ideal shape. By increasing
the amount of water in the ECF, this will dilute the solute concentration; bringing the environment
back to an isotonic system. However, as seen in Table 3, if pure water (0mM) is used, the red blood
cells could lyse as, to reach equilibrium, the cell will absorb more water than is required. Since this is
a result of the extreme concentration gradient, isotonic saline, where the solute present is lower than
the ICF, should be administered intravenously. This would be a smaller concentration gradient; an
ideal that will allow the cells to expand but not

Title
War, according to the Oxford Dictionary, is A state of armed conflict between different nations or
states or different groups within a nation or state (citation). War truly does bring out the worst of in the
people involved, because in war the objective is to kill or capture enough of the opposing sides
soldiers to show that your side is superior. Both sides will take any measures necessary to win, a few
examples of this being Mustard gas, Ricin, Agent Orange, and Sarin . When guns and other weapons
will not cut it, that s when in the mind of the governments that chemical warfare became necessary .
Since these four chemicals and many more have been used throughout history, the Chemical Warfare
Convention banned all forms of chemical weapons, due to the lasting effects of the chemicals on both
nations and individuals of those nations. The way the CWC defines a chemical weapon is a toxic
chemical or its precursor that can cause death, injury, temporary incapacitation or sensory irritation
through its chemical action.
A Chemical Weapon according to Joe Carter of Erlc.com , is a toxic chemical contained in a delivery
system, such as a bomb or a shell . The first chemical weapon ever used was Chlorine. This toxic gas
was first used at the Second Battle of Ypres on April 22, 1915. Toxic gases were looked down upon
and considered inhumane before World War one. Soon after the toxic chlorine was used for the first
time in 1915, the Germans

Harry Potter Vs. Christians Essay
Who has never dreamed of witches, broomsticks and full moon light? I always wished, when I was
younger, I could turn and do magic like a witch. I even bought little magic kits, but it was nothing like
the magic I wanted to produce. In my teen years, a book called Harry Potter caught my attention. It
took me to a world I thought could only belong in my head. J.K. Rowling brought words of
description to my dreams and brought out the little witch and wizard in many children s lives. I have

children and adults to read and enjoy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Harry Potter books make witchcraft and the practice of magic seem appealing and fun; therefore,
parents shouldn t allow their children to read them.
This particular issue is the source of most Christianity complaints and protests against the Harry Potter
books. Christians who express nothing but disdain for the separation of church and state when it
comes to the government promoting Christianity, suddenly become defenders of the principle. They
are arguing that schools are inappropriately promoting religion when students are encouraged to read
Harry Potter.
Even if they are hypocritical, it would matter if they are right because schools shouldn t encourage
students to read books that promote a particular religion. Most people tend to regard censorship as a
bad thing, but if the Harry Potter books really do promote witchcraft then perhaps there haven t been
enough challenges. If the Harry Potter books don t promote witchcraft, but merely include witchcraft
as part of the fabric of a fantasy world, then complaints are less about the books themselves. Then the
problem must be something else, possibly the

Bite Marks Weaknesses
Weaknesses of Bite Mark Analysis The lack of large scale systematic research and data collection on
the correlation between bite marks and dentition limits the degree to which bite marks can be
considered a unique character. By its nature, research concerning bite marks, especially on humans,
are difficult to conduct. Models using animal skin or wax are often used in bite mark research as well
as education. Though these models are a good tool for research, they cannot replace data sourced from
humans. A study has shown that examiners have a lower degree of reliability when examining bite
marks in animal skin versus those in wax (Whittaker, 1975). This decrease in reliability can easily roll
over to the examination of human bite marks. Research also varies in their findings: some negating
their uniqueness (Bush, Bush, Sheets, 2010), while others support it (Rawson, Ommen, Kinard,
Johnson , Yfanits, 1984). These differing results can be attributed to the sample size which the
researchers used. Forensic odontologists lack sufficient data to conclusively ascertain the prevalence
of specific dental characteristics within a given population and thus have difficulty providing
scientifically proven probabilities of dentition patterns matching. A match is described as specimens
that could not be determined as distinguishable within measurement error (Saks, Albright, Bohan,
Bierer, Bowers, 2016, p. 558). However, it is found that the probability of having matches

identity will continue to alter however, as a child, I never understood this and caused this to be an
issue. Self identity helps you become who you are and guides you to be the person you aspire to be.
My identity was always something I struggled with because I didn t understand that I could classify as
something more than just a Hispanic, girl, living in a bad community. Growing up I knew people
would generalize me because I would generalize others. I know my general labels are; girl, Mexican ,

My sister on the other hand, identifies me as; smart, strong, stubborn, prideful, independent, joyful but
sad, beautiful and private. Both my friend and sister described more of my nonvisual characteristics. I
like to surround myself with people who see beyond the visual of a person. My friend sees me in a
more positive way because she doesn t notice when I am sad like my family does because I tend to
cover up my sadness and act joyful. My family tends to see me in a more negative way and not
because I am a bad person, but because I am a negative person in their eyes. They see this because of
my bad anxiety, my panic attacks, and I always fight depression. I think because I tend to code switch
when I am with different groups they see me in a different way. This is why the descriptions they gave
some conflict with one another. Some of the ways they described as conflicts with the way I see
myself. For instance, I don t believe myself to be beautiful I think of myself as just an average
Hispanic girl. Also, I don t believe I am a stubborn or prideful person I think I just takes a word for it.
I think my view differs because I want to believe that I m not this bad person that argues with others

Compare And Contrast Essay On Disney Culture
I may not have a star to grant all of my wishes or a fairy godmother to turn a pumpkin into a chariot.
However, what I do have is the ambition, determination, and dedication to build my own chariot,
make my own dress, and provide myself with the opportunity for a fairy tale ending. A dream is a wish
your heart makes, is a popular saying in the Disney culture. Almost every young girl gets caught up
with the magical world of Disney. It was a safe haven where I felt I could dream big and believe in a
happily ever after ending.
At the age of three, I took my first trip to Disney World. I remember it best though the pictures my
mother captured. I dressed as a different princess every day with a sparkly, poofy dress and
extravagant crown that

The Most Beautiful And Greatest Musical Works Of The 20th...
On November 2, I was delighted to attend Solemn Mass for the Dead on the Feast of All Souls at St.
James Cathedral. Now I still feel highly honored to hear Maurice Duruflé s Requiem one of the most
beautiful and greatest musical works of the 20th century. As an international student from China and
have no religion belief, it s totally brand new and unusual experience for me to have this special
chance to open my eyes widely to see the magnificent church. This opportunity is of great benefit to
me to learn Catholic Church and acquaintance with religious faith.

Teaching As A Brilliant Lesson Essay
In the past I thought that teaching a brilliant lesson would help students to learn, but I have gradually
realised that didactic teaching has little or no impact on the majority of our students. It is a sad truism
that a significant number of our students are uninterested and resistant to learning, possibly due to
their own previous experiences, peer pressure and the nature of influences outside of the classroom.
My concern as a teacher of these students has been to identify strategies that can be used to facilitate
their learning, improve their self confidence and persuade them that learning is something worthwhile
for them.
One of the implicit aims of our school is to increase the aspirations of our students; to help them
obtain the qualifications they need to achieve their life goals and so help them and their families
improve their life chances (see appendix 1). So given that our aim is to increase the aspirations of our
students; to help them obtain the qualifications they need to achieve their life goals ; the question we
must ask is how can we do this ?
I am increasing drawn to the ideas of Vygotsky (Fisher, 2005: 210; Minton, 2012: 15 17) who in the
1960s, along with others, challenged the notion of inborn intelligence prevalent up to the 1950s,
leading to the still evolving idea that we all can grow in intelligence by improving our cognitive and
meta cognitive skills, learning how to learn (Fisher, 2005: 210). As a result of scientists describing

Justice In In The Republic
Justice according to you and Homer and Simonedes, is apparently a kind of art of stealing but with the
view of helping one s friends and harming one s enemies. In the Republic by Plato one of many
theories discussed amongst old friends, Socrates, Thrasymachus and Polemarchus just to name a few,
makes it clear that stealing for a friend is okay and for an enemy is wrong. Although in Officespace a
1999 film, depicts in a scene of three co workers Peter, Samir and Michael plan a scam in their boss
Lumbergh s company Initech. Peter who is getting a promotion from the Bobs The Consultants due to

In The Republic it is mentioned that justice is for the good of a friend and harm of an enemy. In other
words victory for a friend and jailtime for an enemy. In Officespace this is the exact theory that Peter
has for his friends except it is the reverse of what Peter thinks of justice. Eventhough what he is
planning is wrong, Peter feels in his good sense, what he is doing is right. Stealing from Limburgh his

Disobedient Behavior Analysis
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, the definition of behavioral issues is, an individual
evidencing maladjustment by indulging in behavior problems; especially: a child indulging in such
problems (Merriam Webster Dictionary). As we are currently living in the technological age, young
children are constantly exposed to tablets and cell phone screens to aid as a distraction when the child
begins to show disobedient behavior. Disobedient behavior can constitute excessive noise, tantrums,
hyperactivity and fussiness at the dinner table. When parents encounter their child s disobedient
behavior, they often resort to giving them a tablet or cellphone to distract them temporarily instead of
punishing them. While this method provides a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children in third world countries are prospering immensely with the introduction of technology in
their culture by teaching the young children the importance of change, liveliness and communication.
An article published by The Guardian, written by Annie Kelly, discusses the groundbreaking change
implemented by technology in these poorer societies. Charles Kenny, senior fellow at the Center for
Global Development stated, This technology wasn t developed as a development tool yet has become
one of the greatest vehicles for change... Young people are natural adopters of new technologies and
certainly the potential for technology and digital media to be a force for innovation, education and
change is just beginning to be realized. (qted in Kelly). Kenny is discussing how the creation and
innovation of technology was not initially created for progressing of cultures and societies, but it has a
taken a turn and done just that. Kenny later says that it is vital the young children of the world are
encountered with the exposure of technology because they are the best group who can work on
projects to make a global impact in relation to older generations who can only see one side of the
technological advancement and often blame it for the poor social structure in society. Kenny and the
article make a very valid and reasonable point because technology is really the gateway to change for
the future and exposing children of all social classes is beneficial to innovation and relations between
different countries. Although, the article does not describe the negative implications technology has on
a younger demographic when it comes to the issue of pedophilia and cyber safety. The article could
also discuss how people can work together to unify and promote healthy technological relationships
with children where

will find themselves booking flights to places they had never heard of. What do you think companies
can do now to prepare their managers for these new markets? What can entrepreneurs and small
businesses with limited resources do? Answer I think what the companies should do is preparing their

Your job description includes responsibility for accepting shipments as they enter the local port

for a tip to clear the goods for pick up. The value of the incoming shipment is around $ 150,000.
Knowing that the government has recently launched an initiative to reduce corruption, how do you
react? If additional information would be helpful to you, what would it be? Answer I think I have to
give them a tip because in that country the bribery is relatively accepted, and I think they can make
my job easier. Moreover , the value of the incoming shipment is pretty high, it might have a damage
on my goods if I do not give them a tip because they might do not care about my shipment and I think
to give a tip for somebody is not a corruption, but it shows you are very appreciated in their jobs.

Theories Of Dreams
There are various theories as to why we dream, one of them is activation synthesis hypothesis,
proposed by Alan Hobson and Robert McCarley in 1977. The idea is that the specific neuron activity
that takes place during REM sleep is synthesized into a plot in the cerebral cortex, and dreams are the
brain trying to make sense of the random neural activity that takes place during REM sleep. The oldest
theory is of Freud s psychoanalytic view, dreams are visual representations of suppressed thoughts or
unacceptable desires, ideas, aspirations, or memories. The psychoanalytic view tells us each dream is
crammed with symbolism and says a lot about the unconscious mind when you interpret them. The
interpretations of the dreams are subjective, making

  • 2. Jeffrey Bauman s Heroism In The Film Stronger Introduction The film Stronger (2015) based on the memoir of Jeffrey Bauman directed by David Green, focuses on his life after losing his legs in the Boston Marathon bombings. In the early scenes of Stronger, the movie shows Bauman s life of recovery and adaptation to living as a disabled man. Bauman becomes a symbol of hope and inspiration to the people after the bombing. Bauman comes home to his mother and sees tons of care packages and thank you letters from people who believe he is an inspiring hero. The day of the Boston marathon, he was waiting for his girlfriend to cross the finish line while standing a couple inches away from one of the bombs. After the blast, he becomes one of the most recognizable survivors because of a photo that went viral. The iconic image shows rescuers saving him thereby depicting him as incapable. He becomes the disabled on screen character who inspires others. In one scene, he is honored to carry the Boston Strong Flag at the Bruins Game because he became a figure of heroism to the people of Boston. Green celebrates Bauman s triumph in the face of disability, depicts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here when Bauman opens his letters and care packages, his father states: Bauman kind of becomes a symbol to a lot of people (36:15). The quote itself shows how the film portrays disability in Bauman s life. His disability became a comfort and sympathy ploy to the non disabled movie viewers. Director Green shows us the incapability of Bauman and how he needs to rely on others while portraying him as the hero of disabled people. The film shows the pleasant side of the protagonist Bauman s life after his injury while, showing the unwanted aspect of being disabled. Director Green suggests the life of the inspiring hero isn t wanted. • 3. Why Do People Fall Under Nazi Rule Under Nazi rule, most countries could do nothing but comply. They all had to fall under Nazi rule and do as they said. That meant turning over their Jews and doing exactly as Hitler demanded. Some people showed moral courage in the face of the Nazis instead, but rarely was there a whole country that tried to save themselves before falling under German demand. However, there was one country that didn t comply despite its disadvantage to Germany: Denmark resisted Nazi rule which shows a great example of a whole country working together to save their people. When Denmark was invaded during World War II, they decided to try and resist their rule instead of comply with all of their demands. One of these was trying to take all of the Jews. An example of saving them was Georg Ferdinand Duckwitz who was a German diplomat. When he learned that Germany was planning to purge all of the Jews, he warned the country so that they were able to get almost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many stories about a single person or a small group of people who risked their lives to save Jews during World War II. However, it is rare to see a whole country able to do such an amazing, courageous thing for people living in their boarders. The Jews got government help to get away from Nazi rule and not every country did this. This story is inspiring because it shows that even a whole country and chose to do the right things when faced with an impossible choice. To most countries, it seemed as if the only thing they could do was comply with Nazi orders and fall under their rule. For Denmark, though, it was the opposite. They found it impossible to do anything but save their citizens. This story can give us hope to resist a bigger force and ignore the consequences if it is for a better cause. This shows how many people can come under a good moral direction: one toward helping others for the sake of those in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jack commits hateful, cruel acts. He kills Simon as well as condemning the death of Piggy. He dresses up in camouflage and aggressively kills animals. For example, Jack made a rush and stabbed at Ralph s chest with his spear.... They were chest to chest, breathing fiercely, pushing and glaring (177). This shows his complete transformation. Ralph hadn t transformed like Jack, and didn t feel the constant pressure. Jack constantly needed more power and more fear. He needed to devote himself to the island. He wanted to act upon all evil urges. As stated, They were savages it was true; We see now from Ralph s side, that Jack twisted the tribes mind like a devil would to the point of making them little savages (185). Since Jack had yielded, he had to turn everyone else too. Jack resembles Gimpel in many ways. As Gimpel was confronted with darkness that altered the way he thought about the world, so was Jack. Both characters allow urges that linger in the back of their mind to assert control. Unlike Ralph, both characters could not resist temptation. However, Ralph is able to stick with his morals, even as everything is taken away from him. He is starving, hurt, and truly alone, yet he still holds onto himself. Ultimately, the evil and hatred Jack possessed trump Ralphs realistic and fair ideals. This is because of everyone has their own battles within. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hooking Up: Sex, Dating and Relationships on Campus (N.Y.U. Press, 2008) stated that dating rules between teenagers began to change in the 1960s. After this time what could be seen as a normality with teen dating swiftly and significantly changed. Today, dating and hooking up is totally different from what some parents and grandparents defined as dating and hooking up. The birth rate among teenagers in the United States rose three percent in 2006. This was reported as the first such increase since 1991. The Constitutional Federalism Of Canada Canada as a country was founded on the constitutional premise of federalism, a governmental system in which the federal and provincial governments are equal and separate entities together in political coalition. Quebec joined Confederation in 1867 on the constitutional promise of equality. French speaking Canadians were assured provincial control of their social programs, health, and education. The premise of shared sovereignty acknowledged the variation between distinct peoples in Canada and their particular political culture s. Former Prime Minister Trudeau cleverly disguised the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms as a heroic constitutional amendment providing universal individual and minority rights, in order to effectively cloak the embedded attack on Quebec Nationalism, through the Charter of Rights and Freedoms assimilative properties. The issues were the absence of recognition for Quebec as a distinct society within Canada, the consolidation and centralization of greater power to the federal government, and the lessening of powers held by the provincial government. Trudeau Sr. s personal disdain for Quebec nationalism and his attempts to extinguish it, caused him to overlook the reality of Quebec s political culture, and the impossibility of transforming a society through change to the constitution. Following Trudeau s attempts at constitutional reform in Canada, former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney s Progressive Conservatives would attempt reconciliation to mend Quebec Canada relations. • 9. Discourse Analysis In Carl Sanburg s Grass When analyzing a poem, it is important to understand the language that is being used. When applying discourse theory to a poem, it is important to analyze the language beyond the sentence itself. Discourse analysis studies the natural use of language, rather than the invented examples. The main objective of discourse analysis is to create a better understanding of how language is used through textual features and what effects it has on that investment. Texts often require these features that enables the reader to understand the motivation of that author. In his poem, Grass, Carl Sanburg utilizes verbs, proper nouns, and nouns to efficiently erase the signs of the past. In the poem, Grass, the author uses many linguistic features throughout the poem, verbs being one of them. Verbs are defined as words that are used to describe an action or a state, forming the main objective of the sentence. Sanburg uses verbs consistently throughout his poem to describe the actions in the poem. The first sentence of the poem states, Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo (Sanburg). He uses the word pile, which can be inferred as a noun or a verb, which in this sentence is used as a verb. The verb pile can infer two different meanings, one defined as placing things one on top of another whereas the second meaning defines the entry of a large group in a disorganized manner. She then received her masters in classroom teaching in 2008 from Missouri Baptist University. With student teaching in my near future I thought asking her about her student teacher experience would give me some advice on what my next steps are. Lori student taught at two different schools and for eight weeks each. The first place she student taught was at Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, Missouri. Lori stated that the school was very small and only had one math teacher. She said this gave her an insight of what it would feel like to teach in a small school. On the other hand, she also taught at Cape Central High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She said she really enjoyed this experience because the school was much bigger and she felt more involved in the school. She said that unlike today, she had no choice of where she student taught but she was grateful for the experience she had at both Oak Ridge High School and Cape Central High School. • 11. I Am A College Student I m a college student on a typical college student s budget, and I moved into my apartment about a year ago. Let me tell you this, I just now decorated my room. Yes, I spent an entire year staring at stark white walls, with nothing but last years calendar and my celebrity crush of the moment hanging o the wall beside my bed. There s nothing inviting about an undecorated room, in fact it s sort of depressing, and I wouldn t recommend it to anyone. No matter what your budget, decorating is important and can be done. Here s how I gave my room a personal touch for less than $100. Like most people the first thing I thought of to decorate my walls with were pictures. Little did I know how expensive pictures could be. I first looked for framed pictures at discount retailers like Target, figuring I could get a good deal. Wrong. Even their smaller pictures cost about $30, and while that isn t really expensive, it was just a tad bit more than I wanted to spend on one item. I did come across a rather small rectangular picture for $10 in the sale bin at Rite Aid, and a matching pillar candle for the same price at Kmart, but those items ended up in my bathroom so they don t count towards the total for my room. The point is, however, that we can t discriminate against those really cheap shops. To find good pictures for a really low price I recommend going to unexpected places, such as Rite Aid. • 12. Bomba And Orquestas Influence On American Music Did you know that most of the modern musical forms have come from ancestor s past sense of music? From bomba to plena, Cajun music to swamp pop and zydeco and conjunto and orquesta Tejano to tex mex, music has long been the art of retaking art forms and molded it into different art. Music will continue to thrive and evolve if it remains organic in its nature. Bomba dates to the colonial period of Puerto Rico, and Plena would arrive on the scene in the early 20th century taking roots from bomba in southern Puerto Rico. This percussion driven music was meant to move people to dance. And while both are often mentioned as the same group, there is differences in each. Orquesta tejana was often looked down upon by Mexican nationals, for downplaying their own cultural heritage and joining the American mainstream, this divided the two groups. Two such innovators of Orquesta tejana were Armando Marroqoin and Paco Betancourt, these two formed Ideal records in 1946. Armando would reach national stardom, when he produced Las Delicas (Polka) and his ranchero style. However, while most of the popular age of Orquesta Tejana was in the 1940 s 1950 s It continues to thrive today in the form of Tex Mex, and La Onda Chicana. Many schools in the United States mainstream disabled students and have succeeded in properly educating them, along with creating a safe environment where they are socially comfortable and accepted. However, there are too many incidents where teachers improperly handle these students and administrators do not give enough money to fund adequate supplies for these students. Most importantly, children with disabilities have the opportunities to observe, imitate and model the language use of their peers who do not have disabilities (Grabmeier). By following their nondisabled friends, disabled students learn how to better communicate their thoughts, feelings and ideas which makes it easier for teachers to help them and understand them. Another beneficial skill disabled students receive through mainstreaming is positive thinking. According to Kathy Foust, the mainstreaming environment allows disabled students to learn what type of behavior is appropriate and what is not. They learn that listening to a teacher leads to little or no punishments while disobeying a teacher leads to more punishments. Foust also includes that mainstreaming stimulates self esteem because the disabled know they are in regular classes, which makes them proud of themselves. These students believe that since they are in classrooms with nondisabled students, they are in higher and more advance classes. In other words, since students around the disabled are capable of extraordinary things, the disabled feel like they are extraordinary as well, thus having an improved self esteem. • 17. Red Blood Cells Lab Report The experiment confirms the hypothesis as, when compared to the isotonic environment, the sheep red blood cells that were exposed to a hypotonic environment either expanded or lysed. The increased ECF s absorbance in the three hypotonic solutions show that more light was absorbed an indicator of a ruptured red blood cell. Although the 50mM solution produced a lower absorbance than the 100mM solution when the expected amount of the former should have been higher than the latter, the hypotonic solution still has a larger absorbance than the isotonic solution. It is worth noting that the hypotonic environments produced the clearest red solutions. In all three hypotonic environments, high absorbance values in comparison to the isotonic controlled environment were collated (Table 3). When taking into account osmosis, this could be a result from the sheep red blood cells rupturing and releasing haemoglobin as too much water was absorbed (Lluka 2016). Thus, the concentration of solutes in his red blood cells (ICF) is lower than the concentration of his ECF. As a result, the water in the ICF moves into the ECF; causing the cells to shrink (Reece et al. 2014). In order to treat Baxter, his blood cells must expand to regain their ideal shape. By increasing the amount of water in the ECF, this will dilute the solute concentration; bringing the environment back to an isotonic system. However, as seen in Table 3, if pure water (0mM) is used, the red blood cells could lyse as, to reach equilibrium, the cell will absorb more water than is required. This would be a smaller concentration gradient; an ideal that will allow the cells to expand but not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Argumentative Essay On Chemical Weapons Name Class Assignment Date Title War, according to the Oxford Dictionary, is A state of armed conflict between different nations or states or different groups within a nation or state (citation). War truly does bring out the worst of in the people involved, because in war the objective is to kill or capture enough of the opposing sides soldiers to show that your side is superior. Both sides will take any measures necessary to win, a few examples of this being Mustard gas, Ricin, Agent Orange, and Sarin . When guns and other weapons will not cut it, that s when in the mind of the governments that chemical warfare became necessary . Since these four chemicals and many more have been used throughout history, the Chemical Warfare Convention banned all forms of chemical weapons, due to the lasting effects of the chemicals on both nations and individuals of those nations. The way the CWC defines a chemical weapon is a toxic chemical or its precursor that can cause death, injury, temporary incapacitation or sensory irritation through its chemical action. A Chemical Weapon according to Joe Carter of Erlc.com , is a toxic chemical contained in a delivery system, such as a bomb or a shell . The first chemical weapon ever used was Chlorine. • 20. Harry Potter Vs. Christians Essay Who has never dreamed of witches, broomsticks and full moon light? I always wished, when I was younger, I could turn and do magic like a witch. I even bought little magic kits, but it was nothing like the magic I wanted to produce. In my teen years, a book called Harry Potter caught my attention. It took me to a world I thought could only belong in my head. J.K. Rowling brought words of description to my dreams and brought out the little witch and wizard in many children s lives. I have not been able to find a more descriptive, memorable, imaginative, and well written books for both children and adults to read and enjoy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Harry Potter books make witchcraft and the practice of magic seem appealing and fun; therefore, parents shouldn t allow their children to read them. This particular issue is the source of most Christianity complaints and protests against the Harry Potter books. Christians who express nothing but disdain for the separation of church and state when it comes to the government promoting Christianity, suddenly become defenders of the principle. They are arguing that schools are inappropriately promoting religion when students are encouraged to read Harry Potter. Even if they are hypocritical, it would matter if they are right because schools shouldn t encourage students to read books that promote a particular religion. Most people tend to regard censorship as a bad thing, but if the Harry Potter books really do promote witchcraft then perhaps there haven t been enough challenges. If the Harry Potter books don t promote witchcraft, but merely include witchcraft as part of the fabric of a fantasy world, then complaints are less about the books themselves. Then the problem must be something else, possibly the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Bite Marks Weaknesses Weaknesses of Bite Mark Analysis The lack of large scale systematic research and data collection on the correlation between bite marks and dentition limits the degree to which bite marks can be considered a unique character. By its nature, research concerning bite marks, especially on humans, are difficult to conduct. Models using animal skin or wax are often used in bite mark research as well as education. Though these models are a good tool for research, they cannot replace data sourced from humans. A study has shown that examiners have a lower degree of reliability when examining bite marks in animal skin versus those in wax (Whittaker, 1975). This decrease in reliability can easily roll over to the examination of human bite marks. Research also varies in their findings: some negating their uniqueness (Bush, Bush, Sheets, 2010), while others support it (Rawson, Ommen, Kinard, Johnson , Yfanits, 1984). These differing results can be attributed to the sample size which the researchers used. Forensic odontologists lack sufficient data to conclusively ascertain the prevalence of specific dental characteristics within a given population and thus have difficulty providing scientifically proven probabilities of dentition patterns matching. A match is described as specimens that could not be determined as distinguishable within measurement error (Saks, Albright, Bohan, Bierer, Bowers, 2016, p. 558). However, it is found that the probability of having matches ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Teaching As A Brilliant Lesson Essay In the past I thought that teaching a brilliant lesson would help students to learn, but I have gradually realised that didactic teaching has little or no impact on the majority of our students. It is a sad truism that a significant number of our students are uninterested and resistant to learning, possibly due to their own previous experiences, peer pressure and the nature of influences outside of the classroom. My concern as a teacher of these students has been to identify strategies that can be used to facilitate their learning, improve their self confidence and persuade them that learning is something worthwhile for them. One of the implicit aims of our school is to increase the aspirations of our students; to help them obtain the qualifications they need to achieve their life goals and so help them and their families improve their life chances (see appendix 1). So given that our aim is to increase the aspirations of our students; to help them obtain the qualifications they need to achieve their life goals ; the question we must ask is how can we do this ? I am increasing drawn to the ideas of Vygotsky (Fisher, 2005: 210; Minton, 2012: 15 17) who in the 1960s, along with others, challenged the notion of inborn intelligence prevalent up to the 1950s, leading to the still evolving idea that we all can grow in intelligence by improving our cognitive and meta cognitive skills, learning how to learn (Fisher, 2005: 210).
