1. Christianity Vs Islam Essay
Crafting an essay on the comparative analysis of Christianity and Islam presents a multifaceted
challenge that extends beyond the realm of mere academic exercise. The complexity lies not only
in delving into the historical and theological dimensions of two major world religions but also in
navigating the sensitive terrain of faith, belief, and cultural differences.
Firstly, it demands a comprehensive understanding of the core tenets, scriptures, and practices of
both Christianity and Islam. This involves an in-depth exploration of the Bible and the Quran, as
well as an examination of the diverse denominations within each faith. Juggling the vast amount
of information while maintaining accuracy and impartiality becomes a delicate balancing act.
The challenge intensifies when considering the historical context and the dynamic evolution of
these religions over centuries. Addressing the theological nuances, doctrinal differences, and
historical events requires meticulous research and an ability to present the information in a
coherent and accessible manner. Moreover, navigating the potential biases in historical records
and theological interpretations adds an additional layer of complexity.
Equally daunting is the necessity to approach the topic with cultural sensitivity and respect for
the beliefs of adherents. Discussing the similarities and differences without inadvertently
perpetuating stereotypes or misconceptions demands a nuanced and empathetic approach.
Beyond the intellectual aspects, the essay must navigate the emotional and personal dimensions
that inherently accompany discussions on matters of faith. It necessitates a delicate touch to
foster understanding rather than fueling discord, recognizing the deeply held convictions of
individuals on both sides of the comparison.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the topic of Christianity versus Islam involves navigating
a labyrinth of historical, theological, and cultural intricacies. It requires a delicate balance
between academic rigor, cultural sensitivity, and respect for personal beliefs. Successfully
undertaking such an endeavor demands not only research skills but also a nuanced and
empathetic approach to foster a meaningful exploration of the topic.

3. Introduction. Big Data Is One Of The Most Discussed
Concepts
Introduction Big Data is one of the most discussed concepts in the business world
today. The concept of Big Data is one that has been increasingly debated over the
past few years by many different kinds of business industries. One industry where
this discussion is prominent is the accounting profession. Big Data will be defined
more in depth later on, but in shorter terms, Big Data refers to the exponential sum
of data available in our world today. This amount of data is beyond the traditional
analysis that can be computed by human power. When Big Data is converted and
used to its full potential, it could have a material impact on the accounting industry
as we know it. Companies today must stay on top of the Big Data trend if they wish to

The massive amount of data available is where the term big data comes from. The
processing power of a typical server is not vast enough to store this data; new
technologies help to ease this burden. To put into perspective how much data is
out there, six billion people today have cell phones that are transmitting data. Most
United States company currently store a minimum of one hundred terabytes. It is
estimated that by the year 2020, there will be forty zettabytes of data available.
This is three hundred times the amount available in twelve years ago. Velocity
refers to the speed in which data is being processed. Often, data can be processed at
speeds as fast as a fraction of a second. With such large quantities of data constantly
being transferred, it must be dealt with in a timely manner. Modern cars today have
over one hundred sensors that are constantly monitoring aspects such as tire
pressure, how much gas is available for use, how many miles per hour the car is
traveling, etc. Projections show that in 2016 each person will have over two billion
network connections. These are all examples of how quickly data is being transmitted
constantly. Consider sending a text message. It is possible to send back and forth
several messages within one minute. That is velocity. Variety refers to the many
different formats data can come in. Data can either be structured or unstructured; it
can come from social media sources, financial statements,
4. Advantages Of Portfolio Optimization
Robust Optimization Approach to Multi Period Portfolio Selection Progress Report
Introduction
Investors always seek for a way that they can get back greatest return while enjoying
minimized risk. Instead of investing in a single asset, holding a portfolio is
obviously less risky. However, how to select the best portfolio among tens of
thousands of assets in today s financial market? The stringent need of investors
promote the raising of modern portfolio theory. In 1952, Harry Markowitz [1]
established the fundamental model of modern portfolio theory: the Markowitz
model, also called the mean variance model. This model aimed to achieve a tradeoff
between the expected return and the risk of return. As shown in Figure 1, among all
efficient portfolios, the efficient frontier consisted of all those with highest return at
each given risk level. C_1,C_2,and C_3 were the investors indifference curves which
showed that traders prefer portfolios with high return or low risk. The tangent point R
of the highest indifference curve and the efficient frontier gave the optimized
portfolio. Figure 1: Efficient Portfolio and Trader s Indifference Curve in ... Show

One direction among them is the robust portfolio optimization. It was carried out to
compensate the instability and sensitivity of the classical optimal model due to the
uncertainty of the coefficients of variables. This paper aims to use the robust
optimization techniques to take input uncertainties into consideration. Moreover, the
model achieved should be applicable to multi period portfolio selection problems. In
the next section, previous studies on this topic were reviewed. The following section
introduced the method used to get the final result. Section 4 discussed the
achievement until now and the problems that have arisen. The final section

This essay will examine the impact of the Conservative party during their period in
office between 1951 and 1964. The assessments by historians of these thirteen years
vary widely as the Conservative rule left behind a mixed feeling about its
achievements. We will therefore be discussing to what extent their period in office
can be described as thirteen years wasted , based on their performances in the
political, economic and social sectors. When the Conservative Partycame to power in
1951, they won the election by a slim majority of 26 seats, leaving them with very
little power to make important changes. However, their number of seats increased
throughout their thirteen years in office, leaving them with a majority of 107 in the

The Dig for Victory campaign reminded people of the importance of agriculture.
The Conservatives also focused on several aspects of the social sector by putting
into place important extensions to the Welfare State. These include the increase of
benefits and the implementation of the Mental Health Act which spread awareness
of mental illness and increased its social acceptance, which was a huge step towards
tolerance which was ahead of its time. However the plan to build 90 new hospitals
across Britain never came into action as the Labour government had retaken office in
1964. Despite this, the improvements in healthcare can be seen as a big success for
the Conservatives, although, yet again it can be said that they could have done much
more in their thirteen years in this sector.
Progress was also made in the area of education as 6000 new schools and 11 new
universities were constructed and many more were expanded. However their was a
big debate about the merits of comprehensive and grammar schools. The
Conservatives, who supported grammar schools for most of their time in office
finally gave into the inevitable fact that comprehensive education did offer certain
advantages that grammar schools did not. The time that the Conservatives spent
preventing county councils from introducing comprehensive systems was therefore
counter productive and a waste of time.

7. Worldcom Case Study
An Ethical Dilemma at WorldCom:
A case study of Cynthia Cooper
The Scenario
One May afternoon, while sitting in his cubicle at WorldCom Inc. headquarters
located in Clinton, Mississippi, Gene Morse was stunned to find an accounting entry
for $500 million in expenses, which was not accounted for with any invoices. He
immediately reported this entry to his boss, vice president of internal audit Cynthia
Cooper (Pulliam Solomon, 2002). Little did they know at the time that this discovery
would begin a journey for Cooper and her team that would challenge their core
values, ethical beliefs, moral principles, and strain their physical strengths and
personal relationships. They would eventually unearth a $3.8 billion dollar fraud.

This type of new program offering and adding one on one training for his current
customers would increase NOCO s market penetration in the 10 13 year old group

Dyer to use to identify the types of new programs his customers are looking for.
Diversification in NOCO s target markets is another avenue for Dyer to explore to
expand his business. Consumers in Colorado are very interested in soccer. Is there
enough interest to warrant developing adult soccer teams? Is there a market for
toddler soccer training? What about a childcare program for younger kids so parents
can watch older kids compete in the tournaments? Dyer needs to hit the pavement in
his community and in the neighboring communities to get first hand feedback from
the demographics he is targeting. In order to increase awareness of his business in
the towns adjacent to Fort Collins, Dyer could host recruiting events in Loveland,
Longmont and Greeley. With the information he gathers at those events he could
consider the viability of bussing new customers to Fort Collins or offering camps
outside his home base. This type of market development could be instrumental in
growing NOCO into the recognizable brand that Dyer wants it to be.
Dyer should evaluate all opportunities available to him and weigh them against their
opportunity cost before heading in any single direction with

Therefore, they would sell the Pantera under the sign of the cat. Just in case you don

Pantera Problems and Solutions
Elvis Presley owned a 1974 bright Yellow Pantera. It s said, [he opened fire on the
automobile] when it refused to start at his Memphis, Tennessee, home. The reasons
behind the multiple issues surrounding the first full production Panteras are attributed
to a rush to production.
The sports car went from an idea on paper to cars rolling off the assembly line in less
than a year. Airflow was a big shortcoming in these sports cars. The engine
overheated easily due to an undersized radiator with poor airflow across its core.
Airflow was also an issue for the interior cabin. Drivers and passengers complained
about oppressive temperatures in the tight interior cabin. This issue was amplified
when the engine began to overheat. Owner s also complained about driver comfort.
The intrusion of the left front wheel well into the foot area made the car difficult to
drive. This is especially true if you have large feet. Jay Leno owns a 1971 Pantera. He
s on record of saying he has to take his shoes off to drive the car.
All Panteras came with Ford s ZF manual transmission. It utilized an Italian style
gated shifter that looked better than it operated. Although the ZF five speed is
considered durable and reliable,
11. How Did Niccolo Machiavelli Contribute To The Prince
NiccolГІ Machiavelli was an Italian philosopher born in Florence, Italy in 1469
during an unstable time in which Italy was divided into four rival city states
(Biography). The time period was erratic with frequent power changes due to their
vulnerability to other regimes vying for power. The regime change that had the most
impact on Machiavelli was the fall of the Medici s who were ruling Florenceup until
1494. In their demise, Machiavelli became a diplomat and served the new Republic
until the Medici returned to their throne (Biography). In light of their return,
Machiavelli played a part in organizing a militia against the Medicis but was
unsuccessful and consequently was tortured, jailed, and subsequently exiled from his
beloved home city (Biography). His banishment and inability to be apart of his
esteemed city, neither politically or as an ordinary citizen, ultimately hurt him worse
than the torture ever could. In his banishment he began working simultaneously on
the books he is most known for The Princeand The Discourses. His prior experiences
with the Medicis and his grievances towards them influenced much of his writings
and his views on how a Prince should act in a Republic.
The disunity of Italy, was a strong example for Machiavelli, for a condition a
Republic should avoid since it would lead to tremendous instability and would
obstruct the Prince from taking absolute power over his Republic. Furthermore,
Machiavelli s experiences within this chaotic state left a

Julius Caesar was interested in the government since he was a child because his

a prosecuting attorney ( A Timeline of the Life of Julius Caesar ). In 76 BCE, he
was captured by pirates. Since he was in the government, when he got home he
assembled an army and went and captured the pirates that captured him. Since they
were the Romans, they punished the pirates by crucifixion. In 74 BCE, Julius Caesar
put together a private army and went to attack the Mithradates VI, the King of
Pontus, who was an important leader in the Roman Empire. Julius Caesar did this
because the people of Rome were afraid of Mithradates VI ruining it. In 73 BCE,
while Julius Caesar was away, he was accepted into the College of Pontifices. When
Julius Caesar came back to Rome, he was elected military tribune. In 68 BCE, Julius

of the ideal beauty as fair skinned is not a new concept if we try to track it down he
history lane. In fact, this concept has engrained in our physc by our culture from
the ancient times. The Varna system of Social classification When Aryans (natives
of Arctic and hence fair skinned) invaded the Indus Valley, they drove the darker
skinned inhabitants down south. The ones who remained were called as das and
made to do subjugated jobs as labourers, cleaners and even undertakers. Hence in
the social classification, they were allotted the lowest rung. As time progressed
and with continuous labour in the sun, the das came to be associated with dark
colour and simultaneously fair colour started to be associated with affluence and
aristocracy. Hence, the social classification, the caste system was very aptly called
as the Varna system, Varna meaning colour . Mythology If one observes ancient

pattern. Almost in all Indian texts the hero of the epic who mostly is from a noble

African American men s experiences of racism are believed to contribute to low
self esteem (Utsey, Ponterotto, Reynolds, Cancelli, 2000). Yet researchers have
found evidence that suggests African Americans explicit self esteem is equal to that
of members of non stigmatized groups (Crocker Major, 1989). In contrast to
explicit self esteem, implicit self esteem is a spontaneous, automatic, and
unconscious evaluation of one s own worth (Baccus, Baldwin, Packer, 2004). In
addition, it is thought that social behavior operates in an unconscious manner
(Baccus et al., 2004). As a result, the question of whether it is mainly implicit self
esteem that influences social behavior has been raised and researched (Bosson,

Philosophy of Education
No society has ever survived without some system of education. Education is,
perhaps, the most important of all social systems because it enables all the others
by training individuals for their social roles. Still, it is a system which is far too
complicated to perfect or even define. What is the best way to teach? What
knowledge is it necessary for an educated person to attain? Should an education for
one be the same as for another? In such an individual centered field, the answers to
these questions are as varied as the individual teachers, students, and others
themselves. There is no correct answer; each teacher s philosophy of education is

The canons of literature, the principles of science, the exploration of history, and
many more all build a foundation of what it is to be human and part of a human
society. Lacking such an essential base, more liberal philosophies collapse.
These essentials, however, do not complete the picture. Knowledge and education
cannot exist in a vacuum; just because a certain volume of human knowledge does
exist does not necessarily mean it will be acquired or even prove useful without the
right conditions. When teaching people, one cannot neglect the role of the individual
in his or her own education. Students must want to learn, they must be motivated to
acquire knowledge, and they must be inspired to hold and apply it beyond a chapter
test or school year. By giving individual credence, validity, and applicability to the
material we teach, we grant the student the opportunity to intrinsically pursue
knowledge and to apply the facts of the world to new situations, question, not just
accept, and shape their own informed opinions. If the essentials are the roots of
education, individual motivation is its branches, and the fruit it supports are the
educated people such a system eventually bares.
Perhaps the goal of schooling is not necessarily to learn, but rather to learn how to
learn. To suggest education can occur in a set amount of time or that educated is a
binary state is to neglect the influence of the individual on the process. To merely
know

Arthur and his knights have displayed these themes multiple times throughout. The
knights were held to a much higher regard than many other people during this time.
In Monty Python, those two themes were practically unheard of. In this film Arthur

evaluation of the response of Nigerian banks to the adoption of ICT. Three
categories of variables that relate to the adoption and implementation of information
technology devices were used for the study. These include the nature and degree of
adoption of innovative technologies; degree of utilisation of the identified
technologies; and the impact of the adoption of ICT devices on banks operation.
The study covered 36 out of the 89 banks in the country as at the end of 2005. A total
of 216, 180 and 36... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The banking industry in Nigeria has witnessed tremendous changes linked with the
developments in ICT over the years. The quest for survival, global relevance,
maintenance of existing market share and sustainable development has made
exploitation of the many advantages of ICT through the use of automated devices
imperative in the industry. This study evaluates the response of Nigerian banks to
this new trend and examines the extent to which they have adopted innovative
technologies in their operations and the resultant effects. Information and
Communication Technology Information Technology (IT) is the automation of
processes, controls, and information production using computers,
telecommunications, software and ancillary equipment such as automated teller
machine and debit cards (Khalifa 2000). It is a term that 4 generally covers the
harnessing of electronic technology for the information needs of a business at all
levels. Irechukwu (2000) lists some banking services that have been revolutionized
through the use of ICT as including account opening, customer account mandate, and
transaction processing and recording. Information and Communication Technology
has provided self service facilities (automated customer service machines) from where
prospective customers can complete their account opening documents direct online. It

19. Advantages Of Push Notifications
Push Notifications And Their Benefits For The Better User Engagement Push
notification is a communication channel to send you a message on every mobile
device. It allow apps to reach out the users with short message that can be
responded by users. It provides valuable and relevant information to the users
related to an app, even when the the app is closed. Push notifications only reach
users that only installed your app. These notifications are supported by each
mobile platform including Android, iOS, Windows, etc. Example includes a
message or post on Facebook and Linked In, a new feature in a game, or news article
update, etc. It is a great way to keep track of what is happening on your mobile
devices. Push notifications help various services to... Show more content on

When used perfect apps and their notifications always keep customers connected,
while unnecessary notifications could be a result in annoying the customers.
Therefore, it allow users to control over notifications. As a app publisher if you have
relevant content for a specific audience, try to reach them as soon as possible in
order to stay connected with your app. Keep tracking customer behavior Push
notifications, can analyze user behavior by providing valuable information. It can
track customer interaction times, devices, and situation which generates better
engagements by letting you know when and how users use your particular app. So it
helps you to know the customer behavior in order for better app relation. Easy to use
As compare to emails, push notifications are less intrusive and messy. It can be
quickly managed and the messages used in push notifications are specific, highly
directed and only provide the most important information to users. This makes them
an powerful tool for any event. You can sent notifications easily to your users for
many reasons, including reminders, new features about your
20. Tail Light Research Paper
If your tail light lens is cracked or broken, you can save yourself a lot of money by
replacing the tail light lens yourself. All you have to do is follow the steps below:
Find A Used Auto Parts Supplier
In order to save as much money as possible on this project, you can purchase a new
tail light from a used auto parts store. Used auto part stores sell parts that they have
fixed up from vehicles that have been scrapped.
Purchasing a tail light from a used auto parts supplier is a great way to ensure that
you are replacing your broken tail light with the exact tail light that was made for
your vehicle. Just let the used auto parts store know the make and model of your
vehicle, and they will find you the exact tail light you need for an affordable ... Show

Don t be surprised if you have to use a little extra force to pull the tail light assembly
off your vehicle. In addition to the screws, there are pegs that keep your tail light
affixed to your vehicle. You are probably going to need to use both of your hands to
pull of the tail light assembly package; if the pegs are rusted, you may even need to
use a crowbar.
Replace The Lens
Now that you have the entire tail light apparatus off of your vehicle, inspect it and
make sure that you only need to replace the lens. If the entire apparatus is damaged,
you can purchase a new one at the same used auto parts supplier where you purchased
the lens.
If the rest of the unit is in good shape, all you have to do is replace the lens. You are
probably going to have to remove a few more screws that are holding the lens in
place in order to remove the old lens. Once you have removed the old lens, set the
new lens in place and screw it into the tail light assembly.
Putting It Back Together
Now that you have the lens on the tail light, you are going to need to line up the
pegs and push them back into your vehicle. Keep in mind that if you had to use
some force to pull the assemble off, you may need to use some to get it back
21. Application Essay To Graduate High School
In June of 2015, I achieved my greatest personal achievement to date; I graduated
high school. Graduations are a rite of passage in our culture. Hallmark even has an
entire section of cards dedicated to the occasion. For me personally, graduating high
school ignited an orb of hope and positivity within me that allows me to reflect upon
the numerous years of my education as a journey with both peaks and valleys. High
schoolwas a valley that required me to attain new levels of determination and
perseverance. I can vividly remember running up to my guidance counselor after the
ceremony to thank her and just repeating, I did it! in a state of euphoria or
incredulity at my own accomplishment. For most of my high school career I did not
believe that I would live to see the class of 2015 graduate let alone graduate with
them.
Following the sense of pride my high school graduation instilled in me, I made a
decision to go to college with purpose and began truly envisioning and planning for
my future. It was after I graduated high school that I decided upon becoming a
teacher. A lot of this decision stemmed from my thoughts on graduation night. I
remember thinking of the teachers who supported and shaped me throughout my
education. I remembered my third grade teacher who once told me in secret that I
was one of her most talented students and helped me to recognize my own abilities. I
remembered my strict Spanish teacher in high school who pushed me to focus on my
22. Jonestown Massacre
Every human in this world is promised to something from love to a better country.
Promises are to be true to happen, but sometimes those promises are broken and
never to happen. An example of a broken promised, which was made by a leader of a
socialist group, Jim Jones. People joined a socialist group called People s Temple,
who were promised by Jones to move to Jonestown a place that he created for the
people that Jim Jones authorized. Jonestown is located on a little island in Guyana.
Jim Jones decided to move his socialist group over there so they can be isolated
from the authorities. For the reason that he was committing fraud with money. Jim
Jones was saying that People s Temple was a Christian group instead of a socialist

Nights, They [CIA] want to invade and kill us. Father says that they ll try again,
too. We ve had several attacks. Father calls them White Nights since it is white
men who are trying to ruin our project here (Layton 160). Jonestown people got to
actually live horrible attacks when they were in Guyana then when they were in
the city. As said, Jim Jones wanted to move to Guyana because it is a small island
isolated from every harm that there is, yet they moved to where the harm was
occurring at the moment. As Jim Jones promised to his people that wanted to stop
all the violence. An example was when Jones was trying to recruit people to the
Promise Land, Help me eradicated injustice from all our lives...Be a part of a
fellowship that will work to rid our society of hatred, racism, and poverty...Through
my ministry you can help make history. As a group, we can wipe out racism and
immorality throughout America (Layton 36). In the other hand, Martin Luther
King Jr. dream was that he wanted to stop the violence that was going around the
world due to racism. King Jr. explains, We can never be satisfied as long as the
Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality (King Jr., Middle).
People were being attacked just by their skin color, which was unfair. At the end,
Jones did little to make his promises come true; as he was the one who caused all the
violence in
23. Russia, The, And Territorial Expanse Of Russia
The youth, the multiethnic characteristics, and territorial expanse of Russia all make
the country an outlier when compared to other countries. Though independent since
1991, Russia has deep historical roots that trace back to Imperial Russia. From
Genghis Khan s great conquers in the thirteenth century (Marks 2009, 36), to the first
free presidential elections in the Russian Republic(Marks 2009, 78) and everything in
between, Russiaremains a rollercoaster in the modern day. In the manifestation of
modern Russia the privileged and corrupt elites, along with the oppressed and
disregarded masses greatly influenced the political developments. Peter the Great
attempted to Europeanize Russia between 1682 1725 (Marks 2009, 42). Restricting
the wealthier class, he demanded the rich to wear westernized clothes, noblemen to
shave their beards and send their children to school. However, Peter the Great
remained selective in what aspects of the western society he wanted to bring to
Russia. Rather than introducing the parliamentary system to Russia, Peter held on
tightly to his role as an emperor. The oppression and forced rules and regulations
imposed on the wealthier class created a resentment among the traditionalist to which
Peter controlled by enforcing police surveillance (Marks 2009, 43). Peter s first
attempt to modernize state administration by creating various political institutions led
to an infestation of corruption within the political system. Enraged by the corruption,

light around corners and into the inaccessible places to allow the hidden to be

importance and use. Throughout the world, it is now being used to transmit voice,
television and data signals as light waves. Its advantages as compared with
conventional coaxial cable or twisted wire pairs are manifold. As a result, millions of
dollars are being spent to put these light wave communication systems into operation.

keep running through the bitter weather who is wearing you down. This is the
daily warm up every athlete has to power through to stay in their top condition. In
return, many professional athletes get paid millions of dollars. But, some people
think that these athletes are being paid exorbitant amounts of money, whom they
don t deserve, because they believe high salaries should go to doctors and
firefighters, who save the lives of others in their excruciating work. While others
believe that athletes sacrifices to their health, and their dedicated time and energy
to achieve their goals and dreams should be definitely be rewarded with a higher
salary than most people. To look into the future, it is obvious that this issue s
outcome will open up revealing truths about an athlete s salary. However, athletes

Art Appreciation 2530: Staci Scheiwiller
December 18, 2017 Francisco Goya s 1799 etching titled, The Sleep of Reason
Produces Monsters has the ability to demonstrates how we as individuals grow and
become more in tune with ourselves when we dream. Goya was a Spanish romantic
painter who reached success in 1786. He suffered an illness that left him
completely deaf around 1792, but still continued to produce spectacular art works.
One of Goya s most known works is The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters,
which is number 43 in a collection of 80 etchings. Francisco Goya was known for
creating art pieces that reflected his attitude towards the society he lived in, and
this etching can represent that. To give some brief background information, Spain
was at war when he created this piece, and the Spanish Inquisition s suppression
also played a role in why he created pieces of work that expressed his thoughts on
society. Francisco Goya started off as a painter for the nobility. His works
consisted of portraits of the wealthy showing them at their best with bright, vivid
colors. Goya paid much attention to his surroundings such as all the brutality from
the Inquisition and the casualties of war. He saw it as unjust and decided to speak
on it through his art pieces. His later works consisted of colors that were dull and
monotonous, filled with dark and grey because he was trying to reflect how he was
feeling emotionally.
Goya s 1799 etching is a self portrait. The viewer can see him sleeping on a desk
while ominous animals fly over him. The inference of Goya dreaming can be made
from the fact that he is sleeping. I like to interpret his etching as if the animals that
surround him are actually his dreams. The owls and bats that fly around Goya can
represent his dreams roaming around in his head. Goya was aware that his dreams
were not accepted by the society so this can be the reasoning for why he disguises his
thoughts as bats and owls, creatures that represent evil.
When we dream, we are metaphorically free. While in our deep sleep, we get to
venture to other worlds, back in time, or to the future even. We get to become
whoever we have

What does Gender development have to do with psychoanalysis? The purpose of this
assignment will be to inform the reader of gender development and its association
with psychoanalysis. Within this assignment will be discussed the theory of
attachment outlining the attachment a child has to its primary carer, the oedipal
phase and what the father represents in this phase, how gender identity is formed, we
will also explore the differences between the feminine and masculine characters and
the approach gender identity has in relation to the adult male and adult female in the
way that they relate to each other. Attachment is rooted from Freud s early theories of

Stage 3 the discriminate stage this is when the infant has formed a strong
attachment to one individual, it is this stage that the child also experiences anxiety,
distress and separation. The fourth stage Bowlby called the muti attachment stage,
this is where the child forms several attachments to several people, these range
from other children to other family members. Babies instinctively attach to their
primary carer giver. The primary care giver usually this would be the mother is
viewed as a protector by the infant, this is because of the primary care givers ability
to satisfy the infants instinctual needs, such as when the child is hungry the primary
care giver would provide the child with nourishment, Breast feeding the infant
allows for a greater bond between the infant and the primary care giver. Freud
(Gross p495) believed that healthy attachments are formed when feeding practices
satisfy the infants needs for food, security, and oral sexual gratification . If the child
feels anxious or falls and bumps his or her knee, the primary care giver would be
there to physically and emotionally comfort the child which helps the child to feel
safe again. Early theories of attachment were challenged by Harlow and Zimmerman
(1959) who assumed that a mechanism similar to imprinting was in operation, to test
this theory, Harlow and Zimmerman looked at young rhesus monkeys to see how

30. Rene Descartes Discourse On Method And Meditations On...
Rene Descartes was a philosopher during the Scientific Revolution. He wrote a
book called Discourse on Method and Meditations on First Philosophy where he
questioned everything about life. In that era, no one could question faith because it
was known that God created everything perfectly and for a reason. Descartes
questioned everything about life until he could prove that it was absolute truth. He
did not just blindly believe, he had doubts and questions he wanted answers to.
Descartes did not believe his teachers, he did not trust his senses, and he did not
believe that God existed. People, especially Christians did not like how Descartes
had these doubts and questions, but Descartes says, But, whatever type of argument I
use, it always comes down to the fact that the only things that fully convince me are
those that I clearly and distinctively perceive (Descartes p. 90). The only thing that
he consistently believes in is math, because the numbers will never change and 2+2
will always equal four.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Descartes begins by wondering how there can be this being that created
everything. He is unsure how this one God could create everything and know
everything in the world. As Descartes continues to think about God, he realizes that
he must be real, that only one God could create all of this and give him these ideas,
and to have doubts and questions. Descartes says, And from the mere fact that
such an idea is in me, or that I who have this idea exist, I draw the obvious
conclusion that God also exists, and that my existence depends entirely upon him at
each and every moment (Descartes p. 80). He realizes that his life is dependent on
God, and that God is the reason for his existence. This is the final question he asks
to try and reach his goal of finding the truth in the world. Finding out about God
makes him realize that everything is real and he believes in everything

finding a hefty size pearl could mean better days for life. Living on the Baja
Peninsula tends to derive many pearl divers due to the stretched coastline, leading
Kino, the main character, like his ancestors before him, to become one. The novella
leads Kino and his dreams to a magnificent pearl and once with it, the pearlcarves a
path of greed, death, and destructions in Kino s life. While the pearl initially
represents great wealth for Kino and his family, it eventually becomes a symbol of
greed, death, and destruction. The pearl is symbolized as the holy grail of La Paz

is like a sin! It will destroy us, and her voice rose shrilly. Throw it away, Kino. Let
us break it between stones. Let us bury it and forget the place. Let us throw it back

firelight her lips and her eyes were alive with her fear (43 44). This shows that the
pearl has turned Kino s head, he wants more, and he needs more. Wanting more and
needing more comes to a price and Kino is about to pay for it. The pearl has
become my soul, said Kino. If I give it up I shall lose my soul... (73). The pearl is
not an entity or a spirit, it does not tell Kino what he should do. Kino has infatuated
himself with the thought of a better life and he has lost control of his own. And then
Kino s brain cleared from its red concentration and he knew the sound the keening,
moaning, rising hysterical cry from the little cave in the side of the stone mountain,

In college, we get asked to write enough papers to fill a book, and all those papers
start off as drafts where they must be edited and corrected before turning them in as
the final draft. This process is particularly interesting to see how one can improve
their work. Analyzing a paper to see the ways in which information is portrayed and
relayed to the reader is vital to the writingprocess. In this paper, I will be examining
a previous assignment from a former English course. To analyze the paper
thoroughly, I will be looking at the rhetoricused within and its effectiveness, along
with the mistakes that lie within the paper. I will critique my work and suggest ways
to correct errors, or applaud attributes within that were well done.

I used many tools to pull on the heartstrings of my audience. I used personal
experience, certain events that take place, and reflections on how things can turn
out whether they are good or bad, in both relationships, or on a roller coaster that
are relatable to the reader. An example of this from my paper shows the ethos very
nicely; Do you remember the first time you fell in love? How about the first time you
got on a roller coaster? These two first times seem to have a lot in common, but
they also have some interesting differences. The first time a person does either of
these things it can be scary as well as thrilling. Imagine a teenage girl being asked
out for the first time, and that same teenage girl getting on a huge roller coaster.
She would most likely be scared and unsure about both, and predicting outcomes in
her head. All a person tends to think about is the drop. This example can be an
example for almost any person. The first time a person gets on a roller coaster it is
scary or nerve racking. The same can be said for the first time you fall in love.
Throughout that entire excerpt, the reader can experience possible flashbacks to
previous personal experiences. The relatable factor that ethos gives a paper is
essential in really getting your reader interested in what they are

Throughout the semester, we have been introduced to many topics related to
interpersonal communication. I have come to believe that these concepts have
allowed me to better understand interactions that occur in our daily lives. My
knowledge of these concepts was challenged when asked to relate these notions to a
movie. During the time that I was watching the movie, My Big Fat GreekWedding, I
realized myself grasping onto what was going on and being able to relate certain
scenes and situations to topics I had previously learned about. Interactions in My Big

These guidelines can all help lessen a conflict.
Conflict was displayed in two specific scenes of the movie. The first scene was when
Toula?s parents are arguing about Toula going to school (Appendix A). Her father
feels she should not go to school because girls don?t need to, and that she is fine
doing what she is doing; working at the family restaurant. Her mother on the other
hand, feels that Toula should go to school if that is what she wants. They go back and
forth until Toula?s mom walks out. This argument is started because they both have
different things they want. She ends the argument with a sarcastic comment, and it
doesn?t get settled. Throughout their argument, neither of the two used any of the
guidelines for conflict that we had learned about. Perhaps if guidelines were used the
argument would not have ended on a bad note. Using such guidelines such as
clarifying goals or using constructive criticism might have prevented the argument to
begin with.
Another scene that shows an example of conflict was when Toula?s parents find out
she is seeing a man who happens to not be Greek. Ian Miller (her boyfriend) and
Toula?s father are arguing in the dining room, while Toula and her mother sit in the
kitchen listening. The conflict begins because both Toula?s father and her boyfriend
want different things. Toula?s father does not want Toula to have a boyfriend, while
Ian wants to continue to see Toula. Like the first conflict, two people

implementation. There are clothes that could be fashionable to one person but seen
as offensive to another. A dress code can be justifiable when put into a situation that
really does require certain attire to be worn. It gives a sense of formality and
distinguishes an individual apart from a group. This report seeks to compare and
contrast the characteristics of school dress codes with that of dress codes in the
workplace.
We form first impressions and overall judgments about people by the way one
dresses. In the workplace, depending on what industry or company it is, employee
dress code can differ based on the situation. Those who work at a banking
institution are generally required to dress in suit and tie or at least business casual.
In such workplaces, it is often required to abide by strict policies such as having to
cover up tattoos and piercings whilst at the workplace. The dress code is set because
the appearance of an employee reflects the company and its values. Thus when
dealing with the public, other employees and in all other business relationships, it is
important to conduct oneself in a courteous and respectful manner, which also entails
dressing appropriately.
At TD Canada Trust, a banking institution, on days with client meetings or when
clients are expected in the office, business attire is required of its employees.
Professional business attire for women generally comprises
36. Water Leaks In Residential Homes
Having water leaks can be a constant hazard for residential homes. It does not have
to be a big leak because a small leak can lead to a mold problem that can be harmful
and cause significant damage. Leak detection can be a long, expensive process.
Some leaks do produce water damage that is visible on floor or drywall but others
are only noticeable when the homeowner gets a higher than usual water bill.
When checking for water leaks you should first check the areas where the water
pipes run through the floors and walls for water damage signs and then examine the
water fixtures themselves where the fixtures may feel wet or have some water
collected there. Check to see if any of the faucets are dripping, which can mean you
need to change the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One place that you may have water leaking is your toilet. Each time you flush the
toilet you think it will automatically stop when the tank is full but in some
instances, it quietly continues to run slowly into the toilet. To see if this is the
problem you can stand there until it fills and see if you see a slow stream of water
going down the inside of the toilet bowl. If you see that you should replace the
fixtures in the toilet reservoir. You can check with a plumbingstore and they can help
you with what you need to replace. You could also place a little food coloring into
the reservoir tank and check in thirty minutes to see if there is any dye in the toilet
bowl. If there is, this indicates a leaking flapper that will need to be replaced.
If you are not able to find the leak, you can call plumbing companies and have a
plumber that specializes in leak detection. They have professional equipment that
can help to find any leaks under the floors or in the walls where you cannot see
them without tearing out the floors or walls. Some of the leaks are a simple fix
that you can do yourself while others may be expensive and require a plumber to
fix the leak. If there is a water leak detection it needs to be fixed immediately before
other problems

Teachers need a pedagogy that embraces cultural enabling respectful cross cultural
relationships that giving presence to the Indigenous community in the school (State
Government of Victoria, 2017). The What Works Program, 12ccanoes.com.au, Stolen
Generation testimonials, ABC Splash and Kids Matter offer information to help
achieve this best practice.
Before contact
It is beneficial to gain cultural information before engaging with parents. The
communication systems, spiritual connections and traditions cannot be readily
synthesised when retrieved from a text.
12Caneos.com.au provides a broad representation of Indigenous culture, past and
present. This website offers information on critical elements to be aware of regarding
language and family structures challenging deficit perspectives enabling respectful
contact. Through videos, teachers are better able to understand the importance of
kinship and to imply the significance of respectful teacher/family relationship for the
education of their child.
Indigenous communities reluctance to participate in education is complex. Stolen
Generation Testimonials provides first hand information that can help synthesis the
generational trauma that has led to this mistrust. As the story of Nita Marshall shows,
many Indigenous children were denied a nurturing environment altering the inherited
characteristics and tendencies for development (McDevitt, Ormrod, Cupit, Chandler,
Aloa, 2013: Stolen Generations Testimonies, n.d.).
38. The Military Institutional System For Military Service...
Individuals who join the military come from various backgrounds, once within the
military institutional system, families can be at an advantage by stable employment
and benefits, and safe, well maintained local environments (Rodriguez Margolin,
2015, p.35). However, military deployments and duty related separations are very
common for military service members and their families. They are one of the most
widely recognized and documented stressors for military families. Nevertheless, the
experience of separation can also strengthen military couples and families by
increasing their resiliency (as cited in Norwood, Fullerton, Hagen, 1996). The
temporary absence of a parent is experienced by many youth and can have profound
effects on their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Complicating the picture are common gender differences in: rates of internalizing and
externalizing symptoms, coping strategy utilization, and susceptibility to
environmental factors, including parenting among youth. Although early studies on
parental deployment suggested boys were at elevated risk (as cited in Jensen et al.
1996), most recent studies (as cited in e.g., Chartrand et al. 2008; Flake et al. 2009)
п¬Ѓnd no main effect of gender on outcomes. However, during adolescence, boys
appear more at risk for suicidality (Reed et al. 2011) and girls for emotional,
behavioral, and academic problems during their parent s deployment. There is
evidence that more complex patterns do exist such as, findings that parents girl
school aged children reported higher externalizing symptoms during deployment and
parents of boys reported elevated symptoms at reunion. (Rodriguez Margolin, 2015,
p.28). In addition, absences that pose more danger or hardship to the absent parent
(e.g., when separations are traumatic, long, or lead to п¬Ѓnancial deprivation) are
linked to poorer functioning for youth. Within military deployment literature, a few
reviews provide detailed information about the intersection of deployment demands
and developmental changes during early childhood and adolescence (as cited in
Milburn and Lightfoot 2013). Desert Storm era studies suggested younger children
were more at risk during deployment. However, studies of recent conflicts have

McCarthyism is a term that refers to making an accusation without proper evidence to
back it up. It is named after and was used by Joseph McCarthy, who accused several
hundred people in the United States government of secretly being communist.
McCarthyism easily appealed to and influenced the United States due to the terror and
uneasiness surrounding communismas the Cold Warintensified, causing the second
Red Scare to emerge.
Following World War II, America entered the Cold War with Russia, suspicion of
communist corruption in the United States grew. This threat that was perceived by
Americans become known as the Red Scare do to the suspicion and distrust placed in
the United States by communism. McCarthy used this perceived threat to convince
40. The Responsibility Of Protecting ´
The ВґResponsibility to ProtectВґ (R2P) concept first came about in a 2001 report
from the International Commission on Intervention and State Sovereignty (ICISS),
which was set up after, then Secretary General, Kofi Annan, said there needed to be
some a change in the United Nations charter regarding military forces in
humanitarian interventions. This came following the criticism of the NATO
intervention in Kosovo in 1999. The report further evolved into the concept that
was approved in the UN s General Assembly in 2005 (Evans 2014; Zyberi and Mason
n.d. 2013: 7, 513). In 2009 the UN confirmed a continued endorsement of R2P under
the formula of three pillars and four crimes (Zyberi and Mason n.d. 2013: 10). The
main issue with R2P has... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The review will then conclude with an article from Evans, who goes over the use of
R2P through the years, where it stands today and compares the situations in Libya
and Syria.
Even though R2P has been accepted in the UN General Assembly and is widely used
in the literature of humanitarian issues, Zyberi and Mason point out that R2P is not a
binding norm of international law although it does have a clear legal dimension to it.
R2P is rather seen an international social, political and moral norm and even though it
doesn t prohibit unilateral humanitarian intervention it does not grant States a legal
right to intervene (2013: 13 14). According to Zyberi and Mason s analyses of the
State responsibility in the context of R2P, they find it to have several different
meanings and vary according to which perspective it s looked at from as the State
and policies are influenced differently and the scope of obligations is different for a
State s individual and collective responsibility (2013: 32 33). The political
framework of R2P is therefore based on fundamental principles of international law
and epitomises the humanitarian character of those laws that have been put in place
to protect people in the world and their right to peace. The institutional efforts,
however, to operationalise R2P differ considerably from one organisation to another
(2013: 511 512). Zyberi and Mason say that along with the problem of different
understanding
41. Mountain Climbing Suicide
Approximately 200 frozen corpses litter the face of Mount Everest, the tallest
mountain in the world and one of the most frequently climbed. If anything, the
gruesome sights are a testament to the fact that despite the experience and knowledge
of Sherpa guides and modern technology, mountain climbing is at its heart still a
dangerous and risky sport. Still more people are not killed but become entangled in
horrific situations, and rescuers must attempt to save them with high risk maneuvers.
But mountain climbingis a conscious decision on the part of the climber, and rescuers
should not be held accountable for the decisions of the climbers. Furthermore,
rescuers frequently die in rescue missions. Thus, climbers should not demand rescue

What right do these climbers have to threatening the lives of rescuers such as Nick
Hall and the pilots who died in the Ama Dablam crash? It is not the duty of the
pilots, the rangers, and other rescuers to give their lives in attempts to save people
who did not understand the fearful circumstances which can arise in the pursual of a
sport like mountain climbing. Mountain climbing has changed, and in some ways it
is certainly safer, but it is still at its heart an extreme sport which can easily cause
injury or even mortality. Rangers, pilots, and other rescuers should not be expected
to potentially sacrifice their own lives for the sakes of climbers. When climbers go
climbing, their lives should be the only ones they are risking. In conclusion, climbers
and others who partake in dangerous extreme sports should not demand rescue
services when they are the ones to have placed themselves in hazardous

Research on Prescriptive Grammar and Its Comparison with Descriptive Grammar
ii Abstract In English linguistics, there are two approaches which are opposite to each
other theoretically: prescriptive grammar and descriptive grammar. These two
grammars were born in different historical conditions, and the application rules
involved in has been still under the dispute through the development of English
linguistics. It is significant to study the development trend and application in English
language of both grammars, especially to English language learners. This paper
attempts to trace the historical background of two grammars and works out the
dialectic relationship between prescriptivism and descriptivism. The paper consists

Swift continues to propose an establishment of language Academy as France did to
standardize language. Unfortunately his proposal is aborted along with the death of
the British Queen (Crystal, 2006, p.68 74). Most of the earliest grammar literatures
are based on Latin grammar. The publication of A Dictionary of the English
Language, which is written by Samuel Johnson in 1755, marks the explosion of
prescriptivism (Crystal, 2006, p.107). Soon after this, Bishop Lowth delivers Short
Introduction to English Grammar in 1762, which claims the same ideas with Johnson
s. They observe that the grammar rules are rational and logical, and the language
validity should follow the usage by people with higher education. It is obvious that
the language they mentioned is not the one used by the general public; nevertheless,
Lowth s book has been regarded as the authority in England in the next
4 several decades. This period symbolizes the institution of prescriptive grammar. This
traditional prescriptive grammar is holding the major position of authority over one
century. Compared with prescriptive grammar, the historical development of
descriptive grammar is relatively simpler. According to Baugh and Crystal, the early
descriptive grammarians think that local language which is widely used by the public
should be received great recognition. At that time, prescriptive grammarians have
already been aware
43. Abolitionist As Abolitionism
abolitionist, orator, writer, and statesman. My works earned me the name of The
living counter argument against slaveholder s claims that slaves lacked enough
intelligence to become functional American citizens (Douglass, para. 10). After
the publication of my first autobiography, many believed that the publicity
garnered from the book would gain the attention my last master Hugh auld. They
thought that he would come for me and suggested that I travel to Ireland like many
other slaves had done before. In Ireland, the sense of freedom and equality there
astounded me. For the first time in my life, I felt like an ordinary citizen. Nobody
gazed at me as like I was a wild livestock roaming down a street. I can enter the
same buildings through the same doors as white people can. Nobody comes to me
and says anything when I sit with them. No one offers objection and tries to guide
me out saying We don t serve niggers here. (Douglas, para 27). I spent nearly two
years in overseas traveling and giving lectures in churches, I have traveled this
route over a million times. I met Thomas Clarkson in 1846. He was one of the last
living abolitionist in England who helped bring an end to slavery in Great Britain
colonies. During this travel, I also finally became legally free, thank to the help of
Anna Richardson and her sister Ellen and others who raised funds to by my
freedom. Though I was encouraged by many to stay in Ireland, I couldn t bear the
thought of leaving my wife and
