Time Needed: 50 minutes
National Health Education Standards: Students will demonstrate the ability to advocate for
personal, family, and community health.
West Virginia CSO’s: West Virginia HE.7.3.02 recognize valid health information found in the
home, school, community and the internet (e.g. literature, hospital brochures, websites).
Objective: Students will:
Ÿ Show proper understanding of certain pressures of sex among teenagers
Ÿ Design their own approaches to the pressures of sex
Ÿ Become adequate in speaking and listening skills
Ÿ Students will list and present at least 10 components that they have learned from this lesson
with 100% accuracy.
Materials/Resources Needed:
Ÿ Paper/Pencil
Ÿ Computer/Internet
Procedures/Methods:
Ÿ Explain to students that the purpose of this exercise is to encourage young adults to face
sexual issues in a proper manner and be more comfortable discussing it with their parents.

Ÿ Divide students into groups
Ÿ Students will participate in discussions addressing sex and sexual pressures. They should jot
down some key questions that come from this discussion. Students need at least 8 to 10
questions to make a presentation to their peers.
Ÿ Afterwards, the group needs to share the questions and gather answers to the particular
questions they have made. Students may also use the internet to research certain answers that
they are unsure of.
Ÿ Finally, a few students from each group will be chosen to simulate a parent-child talk about
sex and sexual pressures. The students should use the questions their group had previously
discussed. Students should try to engage in both parts if time is available. Students should
take from this assignment a clearer and more comfortable way to address their parents about
sexual issues. Afterwards, hold a class discussion about the issue.
Evaluation: Students will list and present at least 10 components that they have learned from this
lesson with 100% accuracy.
