The document discusses key performance indicators (KPIs) for an automated building, including energy performance, plant monitoring, and comfort conditions. It outlines tracking seasonal energy efficiency ratios and complaints of spaces being too hot or too cold. Plant monitoring KPIs include electric motor operating hours, starts per hour, and maintenance costs broken down by type. Energy performance is optimized by matching installed cooling and heating capacity to loads based on maximum and minimum outdoor temperatures.
This presentation comes from the Building Commissioning process. It gives attention to the training requirements and defines the training sessions of the syllabus.
This document discusses predictive maintenance of an intelligent fan coil unit. An intelligent fan coil unit has additional sensors beyond standard units, including air velocity sensors and inlet/outlet water coil temperature sensors. Predictive maintenance of the intelligent unit monitors delta T, approach temperature, and temperature cross of the coil to check performance. It also monitors air filter life. This strategy aims to reduce maintenance costs and time by 67% or more by scheduling maintenance only when needed based on sensor data.
The document discusses testing and commissioning of automatic controls systems (BACS) written by Nicholas A. Chazapis, a commissioning consultant based in Athens, Greece. It provides information over 7 pages on ensuring automatic controls systems are properly tested and commissioned before being used. The document aims to guide readers on evaluating if BACS are working correctly before system handover.

The document discusses various aspects of facility management design and commissioning processes. It outlines the steps for commissioning new construction including establishing owner requirements, testing systems, and providing training. It also describes re-commissioning existing facilities every 3-5 years to audit performance, detect issues, and update manuals. Retro-commissioning aims to optimize existing building performance for those never previously commissioned. Standard facility management includes planning, maintenance, security and other services. Facility design can reduce costs and increase productivity, air quality and comfort.
This document discusses the benefits of commissioning for building owners and operators. Commissioning can help save energy and improve indoor air quality. It is required for LEED certification and can help evaluate building performance after occupancy. Commissioning procedures should be discussed with consultants. The document suggests that commissioning may be of interest for facilities management, integrating internet of things technologies, achieving high performance buildings, energy savings performance contracting, reducing operating expenses, and implementing an ISO 50001 energy management system.
The document outlines the key steps and goals of the building systems commissioning process. It discusses establishing owner's project requirements and a commissioning plan at the beginning. During construction, it involves design reviews, testing checks, and resolving issues. Training on building operations occurs before occupancy. A final commissioning report is delivered 18-24 months later to evaluate building performance. The overall goal is to enhance delivery and ensure all systems meet the owner's needs.

The document outlines the key activities of a commissioning authority (CxA) during different project phases including design, construction, and acceptance. During design, the CxA obtains the project design intent and develops the commissioning plan. In construction, the CxA reviews documents, conducts meetings, and oversees equipment startup and functional performance testing. Finally, the CxA administers functional performance tests, documents results, and submits a final commissioning report upon project acceptance.

While empathy is a right brain activity, it is far from being a touchy-feely topic. At its core, empathy is the oil that keeps relationships running smoothly.
This document summarizes the Greek standard ELOT EN 15232, which specifies the impact of building automation and control systems (BACS) and technical building management (TBM) on the energy performance of buildings. It defines efficiency classes for BACS/TBM from A to D, with class A being the most efficient. It also provides factors to estimate the potential energy savings from higher BACS/TBM classes for different building types and energy systems like heating, cooling, lighting and more. The standard aims to help assess and improve the energy efficiency of buildings through optimizing control systems and facility management.

Low power architecture of logic gates using adiabatic techniquesnooriasukmaningtyas
The growing significance of portable systems to limit power consumption in ultra-large-scale-integration chips of very high density, has recently led to rapid and inventive progresses in low-power design. The most effective technique is adiabatic logic circuit design in energy-efficient hardware. This paper presents two adiabatic approaches for the design of low power circuits, modified positive feedback adiabatic logic (modified PFAL) and the other is direct current diode based positive feedback adiabatic logic (DC-DB PFAL). Logic gates are the preliminary components in any digital circuit design. By improving the performance of basic gates, one can improvise the whole system performance. In this paper proposed circuit design of the low power architecture of OR/NOR, AND/NAND, and XOR/XNOR gates are presented using the said approaches and their results are analyzed for powerdissipation, delay, power-delay-product and rise time and compared with the other adiabatic techniques along with the conventional complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) designs reported in the literature. It has been found that the designs with DC-DB PFAL technique outperform with the percentage improvement of 65% for NOR gate and 7% for NAND gate and 34% for XNOR gate over the modified PFAL techniques at 10 MHz respectively.
Harnessing WebAssembly for Real-time Stateless Streaming PipelinesChristina Lin
Traditionally, dealing with real-time data pipelines has involved significant overhead, even for straightforward tasks like data transformation or masking. However, in this talk, we’ll venture into the dynamic realm of WebAssembly (WASM) and discover how it can revolutionize the creation of stateless streaming pipelines within a Kafka (Redpanda) broker. These pipelines are adept at managing low-latency, high-data-volume scenarios.
Using recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) for pavements is crucial to achieving sustainability. Implementing RCA for new pavement can minimize carbon footprint, conserve natural resources, reduce harmful emissions, and lower life cycle costs. Compared to natural aggregate (NA), RCA pavement has fewer comprehensive studies and sustainability assessments.
