Computers are machines designed to process data electronically. They are made up of millions of electronic devices capable of storing and moving data at high speeds through complex circuits. All computers have input, processing, and output as fundamental components. The input is information given to the machine, processing is the internal manipulation of that information, and output is the result returned. While computers were once very large, expensive, and required many support personnel, they have since become more compact, portable, affordable, and easier to use, greatly changing how work is performed and creating new areas of work.
