2. • 2009-The Philippine Government enacted the Republic
Act 9729 or the Climate Change Act, mandating the creation
of the Climate Change Commission (CCC) as the lead
policy-making body on climate change.
• 2015-The country’s Intended Nationally Determined
Contributions (INDC) have been communicated to the
UNFCCC.
• 2016-The Paris Agreement entered into force as adopted in
December 2015 at COP 21.
• 2017-The Paris Agreement entered officially into force in
the Philippines, and with CCC at the forefront, started the
development of its Nationally Determined Contributions
(NDC), undertaking a whole-of-government approach.
• 2020-Target submission of the first NDC, pursuant to the
Philippine Accession to the Paris Agreement ratified in 2017.
