  1. The Hypertext Journal , invented by Doug Engelbart, is the technology concept after which the Traction TeamPage Enterprise Weblog is modeled. The Hypertext Journal was designed to support working communication in a time-ordered format for high performance groups. Engelbart invented the Hypertext Journal, as well as many other technology firsts such as the mouse and the graphical user interface (GUI). Engelbart’s 1992 paper, Towards High Performance Organizations, provides a full explanation of how the hypertext journaling system meets working communications needs. Specifically, he presents three knowledge domains which are supported and interconnected in the system: Collected Intelligence – This incudes Information from external sources such as market news, customer feedback, technical information, and 3 rd party reports. Dialogue – includes Memos, Lessons Learned, Ideas, and Meeting Notes Knowledge Product – includes Product Plans, Decisions, and Open Issues to Track Then, he discusses how the hypertext journal supports communication of information relative to these domains, with emphasis on Time as a key organizational element. Without hypertext and time, there is no way for a high performance team to efficiently deliver and interact in context with the quantity of information which passes over their collective desktops.
