Load Break Elbows
A load break elbow when used with a hot stick can be connected or disconnected at high voltage under load, but can only be used with up to a 250kcmil cable. At 100% insulation level, a 250kcmil is good for 345A in underground duct, so you would be de-rating your system by using a 200A elbow with a 250kcmil cable, but they are still widely used due to the flexibility given to the high voltage distribution system at the equipment. Think about it…if you had a critical application where power disruptions were extremely costly and maintenance was required on up-stream equipment in, let’s say a non critical area, this product would be great. You could disconnect the load without disturbing the critical portions, perform the maintenance and then reconnect it. Just make sure to take safety precautions, making and breaking electrical connections under load is very dangerous. The load break elbow is typically not used in man-holes, because it does not allow expansion like the dead break elbow. The construction of the load break elbow does not allow it to be connected to other elbows, but the dead break does.

Say another building was added that needed power, you could just connect that building to the existing array of dead break elbows. This also works great when temporary power is needed for construction or even if the circus is in town and they need medium voltage (it happens!). They can pick up power from the man-hole with the dead break elbows or from a piece of equipment with dead break elbows. I’ve heard that ships are now starting to use medium voltage shore power, I wonder what kind of connections they use.

(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

Moreover, the new paradigm of the Smart Grid, with the
distribution networks fed by an increasing percentage of
renewable energy sources, introduces additional voltage
fluctuation.

5. In remote manufacturing departments, far from the power
source of the factory, the voltage drop due to the power cable
length (dynamically affected also by the operations) can bring
to voltage fluctuation that may not be suitable to operate
machine-tools, welding machines and drying processes.
In industries of significant size feed by their own power
transformer with manual voltage control within ± 5% of the
nominal value, the manual voltage adjustment operation can
bring unsuitable production discontinuity.

6. Voltage fluctuations in a building, an hotel, a hospital or a
shopping mall can bring considerable problems to the electrical
devices. Voltage fluctuations can have exogenous origin or can
be caused by the user itself with load variations.
To power the assets with voltage different than the nominal, is
unacceptable for mission-critical devices and can bring a
reduction in the asset’s service life and an increase of the
maintenance costs.

7. • Innovative design
In the SSR the output voltage is contact-less regulated by the position of a mobile
isolated short-circuited coil over the fixed coil in the magnetic core
• Extended stabilization
The SSR is able to continuously and dynamically stabilize the voltage level at the
nominal value even for fluctuation up to ± 20%
• Continuous regulation
Thanks to its design, the SSR controls the voltage in continuous way and not by step as
the conventional system. This is done by the mean of a brush-less motor that
automatically and dynamically adjust the position of a mobile isolated short-circuited
coil
• Safer and cost effective
This peculiar designs brings a more cost effective solution (up to 30% price
reduction compared to the conventional systems) and additionally overcomes
the need to use sliding contacts avoiding the relevant sparks and the related
carbonaceous residues that negatively affects the conventional systems.
