Mobility solutions have become business-critical. In this presentation, Beezy CMO and Microsoft MVP Christian Buckley breaks down the key trends of the mobility movement, and discusses how enterprises need to stay one step ahead with their technology in order to keep employees engaged and motivated.
Presentation looking at the changing nature of the workplace. In this deck I cover four angles:
1. How we as people will change: Demographics, Labour shortages, skills gaps
2. How work will change
3. How the 9-5 is being replaced by other models of work
4. The physical workplace
The Power of Enterprise Social and Gamification to Boost User AdoptionChristian Buckley
While enterprise social collaboration is something talked about and recognized within the industry, the idea of utilizing Gamification is still widely misunderstood. When you talk about Gamification, you might think about Points, Badges, and Leaderboards (PBL) within your application or intranet, with the goal of driving user engagement through the roof. This scenario is only partly true. The fact is, adding simple Gamification elements to your environment might have a positive short-term effect on user engagement metrics, but these tools may only appeal to a small sub-set of your users – and even then, will not likely provide lasting improvement.
In this presentation by Microsoft MVPs Christian Buckley (@buckleyplanet) and Jussi Mori (@JussiMori), we look beyond PBLs and help you to envision how enterprise social and strategic use of Gamification can provide lasting value and increase end user engagement within your environment. We will examine the core drivers of successful enterprise collaboration, discuss the factors that motivate people, and share real-world scenarios of how you can apply these principles within your own organization to drive user engagement and adoption. Specifically, we will provide customer examples where Gamification was implemented successfully, and show you how this could be adapted to improve productivity and efficiency in SharePoint and Office 365.

Ana02. Making Sense of Data Analytics: Work Smarter, Not Necessarily Harderpanagenda
Whether you are in HR, Sales, IT, Security, Marketing and Communications or Business Transformation, you know that one of today’s major business problems is that one of Employee Engagement, or, to be more precise, of employee disengagement. When only 13% of the global workforce is engaged at work (Cf. Gallup 2013 - https://hbr.org/2013/10/map-the-sad-state-of-global-workplace-engagement), one has got to question whether we have got a rather catastrophic business problem, or an unprecedented business opportunity to transform the way we collaborate and get work done.
What if we could use data analytics to make sense of what’s happening around us? To seek out the different business opportunities that may be laying around out there dormant in order to influence a shift of behaviours on how employees get work done more effectively by enabling a more open, public and transparent work environment where open knowledge sharing, cooperation, coopetition and collaboration would help transform our work culture(s).
What if each life of business embarks on a journey to identify new business opportunities, new markets, by making sense of data analytics to help us work smarter, not necessarily harder? Whether it’s data coming out of traditional tools like email and applications, or whether it’s data coming out of your own Enterprise Social Networking platform (i.e. IBM Connections), there is always an opportunity to seek > sense > share what we know, and use, to eventually transform the way we work.
What if you could make use of smart data analytics to influence the increase and further growth of the overall levels of employee engagement, talent retention, sales (by becoming a customer centric organisation), existing or new marketing goals as well as fine tuning more effectively your entire IT infrastructure. Would you also want to work smarter, not necessarily harder?
Come and join us then to find out how we could help you AND your business transform the way you work and interact with your customers using data analytics to inspire and influence smarter work!

Setting up a Social Media Measurement Program - Dispelling #SMROI Myths & Cas...Dr. Natalie Petouhoff
Wondering how to set-up a social media measurement program? This presentation walks you through some social media ROI myths. It explores why creating a business case is more important than ever if you want to keep or increase your social media budget - that's because the pragmatists (Early Majority) want to understand how social media is moving the needle on traditional business metrics.
For most people, while we know social media is here to stay and something that companies pretty much need to do, few are clear on where the real business value comes from.
Often times people present metrics or KPIs (Key Performance Metrics) as their ROI. ROI is not a metric. It's a comparison of the benefits vs the costs of doing something. Costs tend to be made up of the costs of people, process and technology. It's the benefits that most people find more difficult to give attribution to and why more people are unsure of how to calculate social media ROI. This is something that I help companies understand.
This presentation uses case studies of the comparison of the costs vs. the benefits of using social media monitoring.
The case studies include examples from:
• Insurance Company who wanted to look at the effectiveness of an advertising campaign vs. a competitors campaign
• A craft company who creates products for scrap booking-type crafts; they wanted to look at product development & the effectiveness of their marketing
• A company that creates medical devices for diabetes & insulin injections who wanted to look at the effectiveness of their product launch and marketing
• A healthy kid snack company who wanted to examine a product launch and their product marketing
The technology used to do the evaluations was Crimson-Hexagon.

Keynote: How to Think About Giving Attribution to the Contribution Of Social ...Dr. Natalie Petouhoff
This is a webinar I did on looking at why ROI has become more important and how businesses can begin to look at how their social media monitoring activities are contributing to their bottomline. At the end of the day - there are two things that businesses must worry about: Increasing revenue and decreasing costs. Social media can do both, but you have to know how! The data from this presentation was created by using Crimson Hexagon's Platform.
As author Emily Giffin once said, “Everyone wants to belong, or be a part of something bigger than themselves, but it's important to follow your heart and be true to yourself in the process.” This quote perfectly sums up what employee advocacy is all about: empowering employees to promote their company's message on social media and, in the process, allowing them to develop their personal brand, and position themselves as trusted advisors and thought leaders in their own networks.
Dell, InfusionSoft, SAP, and United Way, among others, are putting employee advocacy to work with the help of EveryoneSocial, the leading platform for employee advocacy and first to solely focus on the employee and employee advocacy. Founded in 2013, EveryoneSocial makes it easy for your employee and brand advocates to share original and curated content on social media, helping you to align, simplify, and measure your company’s social publishing efforts.
You’ll want to join us on our exclusive, live webinar with EveryoneSocial to discuss:
· Identifying your employee advocacy objectives
· Educating and motivating your employee and brand advocates
· Giving advocates guidelines and tools for social advocacy success
· Defining the employee advocacy metrics to track

Levelwise PageRank with Loop-Based Dead End Handling Strategy : SHORT REPORT ...Subhajit Sahu
Abstract — Levelwise PageRank is an alternative method of PageRank computation which decomposes the input graph into a directed acyclic block-graph of strongly connected components, and processes them in topological order, one level at a time. This enables calculation for ranks in a distributed fashion without per-iteration communication, unlike the standard method where all vertices are processed in each iteration. It however comes with a precondition of the absence of dead ends in the input graph. Here, the native non-distributed performance of Levelwise PageRank was compared against Monolithic PageRank on a CPU as well as a GPU. To ensure a fair comparison, Monolithic PageRank was also performed on a graph where vertices were split by components. Results indicate that Levelwise PageRank is about as fast as Monolithic PageRank on the CPU, but quite a bit slower on the GPU. Slowdown on the GPU is likely caused by a large submission of small workloads, and expected to be non-issue when the computation is performed on massive graphs.
ViewShift: Hassle-free Dynamic Policy Enforcement for Every Data LakeWalaa Eldin Moustafa
Dynamic policy enforcement is becoming an increasingly important topic in today’s world where data privacy and compliance is a top priority for companies, individuals, and regulators alike. In these slides, we discuss how LinkedIn implements a powerful dynamic policy enforcement engine, called ViewShift, and integrates it within its data lake. We show the query engine architecture and how catalog implementations can automatically route table resolutions to compliance-enforcing SQL views. Such views have a set of very interesting properties: (1) They are auto-generated from declarative data annotations. (2) They respect user-level consent and preferences (3) They are context-aware, encoding a different set of transformations for different use cases (4) They are portable; while the SQL logic is only implemented in one SQL dialect, it is accessible in all engines.

Global Situational Awareness of A.I. and where its headedvikram sood
You can see the future first in San Francisco.
Over the past year, the talk of the town has shifted from $10 billion compute clusters to $100 billion clusters to trillion-dollar clusters. Every six months another zero is added to the boardroom plans. Behind the scenes, there’s a fierce scramble to secure every power contract still available for the rest of the decade, every voltage transformer that can possibly be procured. American big business is gearing up to pour trillions of dollars into a long-unseen mobilization of American industrial might. By the end of the decade, American electricity production will have grown tens of percent; from the shale fields of Pennsylvania to the solar farms of Nevada, hundreds of millions of GPUs will hum.
The AGI race has begun. We are building machines that can think and reason. By 2025/26, these machines will outpace college graduates. By the end of the decade, they will be smarter than you or I; we will have superintelligence, in the true sense of the word. Along the way, national security forces not seen in half a century will be un-leashed, and before long, The Project will be on. If we’re lucky, we’ll be in an all-out race with the CCP; if we’re unlucky, an all-out war.
Everyone is now talking about AI, but few have the faintest glimmer of what is about to hit them. Nvidia analysts still think 2024 might be close to the peak. Mainstream pundits are stuck on the wilful blindness of “it’s just predicting the next word”. They see only hype and business-as-usual; at most they entertain another internet-scale technological change.
Before long, the world will wake up. But right now, there are perhaps a few hundred people, most of them in San Francisco and the AI labs, that have situational awareness. Through whatever peculiar forces of fate, I have found myself amongst them. A few years ago, these people were derided as crazy—but they trusted the trendlines, which allowed them to correctly predict the AI advances of the past few years. Whether these people are also right about the next few years remains to be seen. But these are very smart people—the smartest people I have ever met—and they are the ones building this technology. Perhaps they will be an odd footnote in history, or perhaps they will go down in history like Szilard and Oppenheimer and Teller. If they are seeing the future even close to correctly, we are in for a wild ride.
Let me tell you what we see.
The Building Blocks of QuestDB, a Time Series Databasejavier ramirez
Talk Delivered at Valencia Codes Meetup 2024-06.
Traditionally, databases have treated timestamps just as another data type. However, when performing real-time analytics, timestamps should be first class citizens and we need rich time semantics to get the most out of our data. We also need to deal with ever growing datasets while keeping performant, which is as fun as it sounds.
It is no wonder time-series databases are now more popular than ever before. Join me in this session to learn about the internal architecture and building blocks of QuestDB, an open source time-series database designed for speed. We will also review a history of some of the changes we have gone over the past two years to deal with late and unordered data, non-blocking writes, read-replicas, or faster batch ingestion.

Setting the Goal(s)
For the brand
“Be theWorld’s most talked about brand.”
For our team
“Plant the seed of analytics and make the Football team our ‘champion’. Make
Football team the bright spot.”
14. @Vlacke | #LIFTSocial
The Bright Spot
Bright Spot is a successful case, a
successful example in an area.
Finding a bright spot means
identifying success and reasons
behind it, and a good way to
perpetuate that success.
It’s flipping the switch from
analyzing a problem to analyzing a
solution.
