2. SoniaFilipaSoares-Eusebio
My inspiration
Linda Woolverton a screen wright, play wright and novelist. Born in Long Beach, California,
U.S. in 1952. She went on to write the screenplay to my all-time favourite Movies Maleficent
(that recently came out in 2014), Beauty and the beast (a personal favourite since
childhood) and Alice in the Wonderland (another childhood favourite).
These three are very well known and admired stories that are still frequently watched to
this day due to her amazing use of the story and plot to tell valid life lessons. Woolverton
has a specific writing style that draws in young and imaginative readers her style consists of
fantasy, fairy tale, and comedy-drama which all three of the Movies above possess.
Upon the completing her master's degree, she formed her own children's theatre company
which performed in Churches and malls etc. But that’s not all she also began to work as a
coach to children acting in commercials in 1979 teaching them the correct manner to do
scenes and how to express themselves.
Woolverton worked with Disney writing ‘Beauty and the Beast’ she was the first woman to
write an animated feature in the studio. The success that ‘Beauty and the beast’ brought
Woolverton led her to work on many more projects with Disney, she worked on the pre-
production story development in ‘Aladdin’ which was then released in 1992 and then she
co-wrote another Disney favourite ‘The lion king’ which was then released in 1994.

Both ‘Aladdin’ and ‘the lion king’ were major box office successes,Woolverton then tackled
a continuation story for Alice in the wonderland that she had in her head of Alice returning
to wonderland. Once again with Tim Burton and Woolverton working together this too
became a huge Box office success. Woolverton was the first and only female screenwriter
with a sole writing credit on a billion-dollar film.
I aspire to be just as good as or better than Linda Woolverton, because she succeeded by
climbing the ladder slowly and using her imagination the whole time to get to where she
wanted to be and she has succeeded incredibly well, I admire her journey to where she is
and that she has made a name for herself along the way by being the first female
scriptwriter to get to where she is.
