This document discusses the nursing care of patients on ventilators. It outlines that the nursing care includes promoting respiratory function through techniques like suctioning and position changes, monitoring for complications, and preventing infections through strict hand washing and aseptic techniques. Additionally, the nursing care aims to meet safety needs by keeping rails up and preventing ulcers and trauma, and to provide adequate nutrition which is important for healing. The document provides details on carrying out these various components of care and identifies common nursing diagnoses for ventilated patients.
This Ppt about Infusion pump explains in detail about - Definition, Principle, Uses, and types of an Infusion pump - Syringe pump and Volumetric Pump. working and maintenance of different types of pumps. Helpful for student nurses posted in intensive care units and those caring for very sick patients and babies. This Ppt is helpful in learning the maintenance of the various types of Infusion pumps available.
The CVP catheter is an important tool used to assess right ventricular function and systemic fluid status. Normal CVP is 2-6 mm Hg. CVP is elevated by : overhydration which increases venous return.
A cardiac event monitor is a device that you control to record the electrical activity of your heart (ECG). This device is about the size of a pager. It records your heart rate and rhythm. Cardiac event monitors are used when you need long-term monitoring of symptoms that occur less than daily

continuous or intermittent monitoring of heart activity, generally by electrocardiography, with assessment of the patient's condition relative to their cardiac rhythm.
A "bundle" is a
group of evidence-based care components
for a given disease that, when executed together, may result in better outcomes than if implemented individually.
Infection control protocols in intensive care unitsANILKUMAR BR
Hospital acquired infections (HAIs) are common in intensive care unit (ICU) patient and are associated with increased morbidity and mortality.
The main reason being severity of illness, interruption of normal defense mechanism (e.g. mechanical ventilation), malnutrition & inability to ambulate make it more susceptible to multi drug resistant organism (MDRO).
The most frequent mode of transmission is Contact transmission, this may be direct or indirect other modes include droplet transmission, airborne transmission, common vehicle such as ventilator etc.
The Medicine in Remote Areas (MIRA) Manual is a comprehensive guide designed for medical professionals, emergency responders, and individuals operating in isolated and challenging environments. This manual provides essential knowledge and practical skills necessary for delivering effective medical care where traditional medical resources and immediate evacuation are not readily available.
Expertly crafted, the MIRA Manual covers a wide range of topics, including emergency response planning, trauma management, illness diagnosis, and long-term care in remote settings. Readers will find detailed sections on environmental medicine, addressing challenges such as extreme weather conditions, and wilderness first aid techniques. The manual also delves into specific medical conditions and injuries that are likely to be encountered in remote areas, offering step-by-step procedures for treatment and stabilization.
Ideal for expedition medics, military personnel, remote site workers, and adventure enthusiasts, the MIRA Manual is an invaluable resource for anyone responsible for providing medical care in off-grid locations. It combines theoretical knowledge with practical approaches, ensuring that readers are well-equipped to handle a variety of medical situations in remote settings.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Immobility
High risk for infection
NURSING CARE OF PATIENT ON VENTILATOR 9
10. RASS score
Can any one know about RASS score?
NURSING CARE OF PATIENT ON VENTILATOR 10
12. Conclusion
Mechanical ventilation is life saving intervention which required multidisciplinary
team effort to prevent adverse effects of ventilator. Nurses have key role to
prevent patients from prolong hospital stay by giving quality nursing care.
