Texas Football Game Analysis
The Texans won nine games in 2014 15, but just two of those victories came
against teams with a record above .500. Ryan Fitzpatrick, who started at
quarterback the majority of Houston s games last season, is suddenly the Jets
starting quarterback. Texans head coach Bill O Brien has yet to name a starting
quarterback this season, setting up a battle between Ryan Mallett and recently
acquired Brian Hoyer. In his rookie season, 2014 No. 1 overall draft pick Jadeveon
Clowney played in just four games and failed to record a sack. Clowney will be
expected to show the world why the Texans thought he was worth a No. 1 overall
pick, and Houston will attempt to reach the postseason for the first time since the
2012 13 season.

Alex Smith had another solid season (3,265 passing yards, 18 passing touchdowns)
with a 93.4 quarterback rating and throwing just six interceptions. Jamaal Charles
rushed for 1,033 yards, and although he was in and out of the Chiefs lineup
throughout the season because of nagging injuries, backup running back Knile
Davis showed promise. The Chiefs defense even finished seventh in the league in
total yards allowed last season So, why didn t Kansas City finish with a better
record? Look no further than the teams receiving corps, which failed to haul in one
catch for a touchdown last season. Kansas City s wide receivers don t seem to be
much better this season, but the addition of Jeremy Maclin should help. It s safe to
say Maclin should catch at least one touchdown this season, which would be more
than every receiver on the roster a season

What Happens to Economy when Government Raises Taxes?

While should the government increases tax rate on everyone as a way to equalize
incomes and wealth? It would make it easier for many people and make it fair for
the poor and middle class citizens. Government officials that are elected are there to
take care of policies and programs. Because when Gross Domestic Product( GPD)
taxes increase spending and receipts rise and the government and the budget from
surplus to a increase, when Gross Domestic Product taxes (GPD) reduce spending

The figures I show are for the US. I expect that the European countries with all of
the current debt problems would likely have similar or worse values, if calculations
were done for them.
I think the way GDP is calculated today misses many of the linkages as to what is
really happening. I know my model is not exactly right but I hope it gives some
insight as to what is really happening, as oil prices and the credit markets interact to
affect the economy.
As I look at this model, one question comes up: What if a similar oil price run up
occurs again, followed by more recession, and even more reduction in lending?
Governments are already spending far more than they take in. The high spending
already in place, and the large gap between revenue and expenditures, makes it clear
that there is not much room for a repeat stimulus program. The next time around
could be much worse! (Treberg, 2010)
Additionally, when Gross Domestic Product taxes reduce spending and receipts
decline and the move of government budget from surplus toward a deficit.
Generally, if the average person gross income stays the same and the government

The Cold War On South Korea
The Cold War was a series of wars that commenced in order to prevent communism
from spreading. The Korean War was one of the first actions the military took in
this war. The conflicts began when the Japanese had lost possession of Korea in
World War II. It was separated into two divisions known as North and South Korea.
North Korea and the Soviet forces had built up a communist government led by Kim
II Sung, a dictator. Opposingly, South Korea and the United States created a
republican government which president Syngman Rhee led. Eventually, this created
tension between North and South Korea due to the different views on ruling. This
would begin a series of battles and casualties within the Korean War.
North Korean armies to lead an unannounced attack on South Korea and a small
U.S. force on June 25, 1950, with over 135,00 soldiers. The battle took place over
the 38th Parallel. The South Korean Army, known as the ROK, were ill prepared
against the North Korea s machinery and weapons. With little support the ROK was
at a major disadvantage in this attack. Many parts of South Korea were taken over
with the goal of uniting Korea under one government. As a result, on June 27,
President Truman of the U.S., along with the UN, sent troops over seas to aid
South Korea. From this invasion in 1950 to July 27, 1953, there would be a long
series of battles between South Korea (Republic of Korea) and North
Korea(Democratic People s of Republic Korea).

Bandura s Idea Of Self Efficacy
Discuss how the concept of self efficacy applies in this child s case. According to
Bandura (1994), self efficacy depends on a person s belief about his or her
capabilities, and it plays an extreme role on how people think, feel, and behave.
Banduras idea of self efficacy relies on four sources: mastery experiences, vicarious
experiences, social persuasion, and somatic/emotional states (Bandura, 1994). Victor
expressed high self efficacy when he lived in Mexico, yet low self efficacy when he
moved to America. Bandura s implications explains how Victors self efficacy
changed with his environment. When residing in Mexico, Victor was a successful
student, family member, friend, and athlete: mastering many of his experiences.

Victors older cousin Enrique provided positive vicarious experiences by being a
successful role model. In America Victor heard the older youth cursing during
basketball games so, he modeled their behavior. In Mexico Victor was positively
impacted by his teachers kind remarks: concerning his behavior and ranking
compared to other kids his age. Victor had been socially persuaded by his peers in
America to drink alcohol, and although he was indulging in unacceptable events,
being able to identify with a group actually helped build his confidence, while
adjusting to his new society. Bandura (1994) last source suggests that Victors mood
or emotional state would reflect his area of efficacy. In result, when exposed to
reassuring stimuli Victor is able to produce positive thoughts, feelings, and express
good behavior. In contrast, the fear of fitting in, keeping up with his class, and

What Strategies Can Work For A Business Culture Where...
What Strategies Can Organizations Use to Address Gender Inequality in the
Workplace?Managers should be mindful of assuming that women have greater family
work inconsistencies than men, and that this can impact their views of women s
suitability for promotions. Companies should make an effort to create a business
culture where family diversity is respected and valued. Companies that permit the
family work conflict bias to exist stand the chance of being looked upon by outsiders
as discriminatory (Hoobler, 2011). Organizations must be trained to identify and value
gendervariations. Performance evaluations and promotion choices should be based
on a person s performance at work and not linked to possible family work issues.
Organizations including recruiters and management can implement the following
techniques to promote gender equality in the workplace:
1.Increase people s awareness of the psychological drivers of prejudice toward female
leaders, and work to dispel those perceptions.
2.Change the long hours norm.
3.Reduce the subjectivity of performance evaluation
4.Use open recruitment tools, such as advertising and employment agencies, rather
than relying on informal social networks and referrals to fill positions.
5.Ensure a critical mass of women in executive positions not just one or two women
to head off the problems that come with tokenism.
6.Prepare women for line management with appropriately demanding assignments.
7.Establish family friendly human resources

Navajo Nation s General Transportation Plan
An Evaluation of the Navajo Nation s General Transportation Plan
If everything in life is very simple and predictable, then we do not need any
planning, (Kim). However, this is not the case today because most developing cities
and communities need planning in order to guide their goals and visions for future
land use. A document called a general plan(also known as a comprehensive plan),
helps guide developing cities and communities with a detailed framework for its land
use. The Navajo Nation, one of the largest Indian reservations in the United States, is
an example of a community that utilizes a general plan. In December 2009, the
Navajo Nation submitted the Navajo Nation Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP)
to the Transportation Planning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
NTS operates on seven fixed routes connecting small urban areas and also
connects with other transit systems like Greyhound Busline. The use of NTS has
increased from 66,000 to 80,000 riders over a two year period (LRTP II F2). Due
to poor road conditions the safety for NTS has become an issue. The general plans
provided background information on the Navajo Nation Indian Reservation Road
(IRR) system and this helps to understand how the nation s road network operates.
Since the nation overlaps different boundaries the IRR system administers the
various highway programs, these include tribal, state, county, Bureau of Indian
Affairs (BIA), and other agency roads. Almost half of the nation s highways are BIA
roads and majority is unpaved. The interesting part of this section is how these roads
are different agency roads but the nation manages to overlook all these roads through
the IRR system.
In conclusion, the transportation system on the Navajo Nation needs vast
improvements to benefit its people. For a general plan, the transportation plan is one
of the most important elements for cities and communities. When planning, it is very
important to learn and know the area, city or community. A city or community will
be forever changing and developing. For this reason, a city or community will need a
plan to develop, maintain, and improve its use of

European Expansion In The New World Essay
Impacts of European expansion reached across the world and affected more than
the expanding European powers and their colonies in the new world. Life in the
world changed when these two cultures that were directly opposite of one another
collided. Europe was filled with greed for resources and wealth, the Indigenous
people living on these resources were living a simple sustainable life with next to no
government or regulation. Once the new world was set up Europeans who ran these
new territories called colonists today developed their own society and way of living
and would end up revolting against the homeland. Indigenous people in the Americas
or Indians as Christopher Columbus first named them on an exploration voyage in
1492, had their lives completely change almost immediately upon the arrival of

In the New World or the Americas as we know them today settlers of colonies or
colonists moved in at their respective locations and began living a new life in a New
World. Europeans tried to recreate Europein America they forced native people to
live their lives and created systems to exploit native people. Systems such as these
were implemented in the New World to assert the dominance of Europe and allow
the countries colonizing to take what they wanted. European expansion into the
New World brought a lot of changes, motivated by boosting trade and economy,
some countries failed to see the harm done in accomplishing it. It was the colliding
of two worlds that were not ready to meet that suddenly and abruptly. Without the
brave explorers and colonists however, America may have not been discovered, or
noticed for many years. The New World gave the Old World something and vice
versa it is obvious today one needs the other to survive and that is what we all strive
Physiotherapists Can Carry Out Assessments On Patients...
Physiotherapists can carry out assessments on patients using falls risk assessment
tools (FRAT). FRATS use questions and observations to categorise patients as low,
moderate or high falls risks (Miedany, Gaafary, Toth, Palmer Ahmed, 2011) and
identify the necessary level of intervention needed. Wong Shee, Phillips Hill s
(2012) research promotes the use of the TNH STRATIFY falls score assessment
tool. The TNH STRATIFY has an extensive question list, identifying more falls risk
factors. Wong Shee et al s. (2012) research suggests the TNH STRAITFY has high
inter rater reliability with an excellent intra class correlation score of 0.96. 1 is
deemed a perfect score (Hallgen, 2012). The high inter rater reliability score adds
statistical power to the research regarding the use of TNH STRATIFY due to
consistency of the tool used on consecutive patients (Hallgren, 2012). Although the
two raters of the tool scored high intra class correlation scores contributing to high
inter rater reliability, the tools predictive risk factor specificity rating scored only
moderately, with 0.52 (Wong Shee et al., 2012). For FRATS to be considered as
having a high level of predictive risk accuracy the predictive specificity rating needs
to be greater than 0.7 (Myers, 2003). This moderate rating of accuracy significantly
limits the TNH STRATIFY s use in clinical practice. This is due to the fact that
although the tool rates highly for reliable use between clinicians, the risk factor
The Role Of Sexism Exposed In The Twilight Saga Movies
Legends and tall tales of vampires have been around for generations. They were
once beings society feared; pale, soulless, vicious beasts with blood stained mouths
and long black capes. In recent years, this depiction has changed. Vampires are now
portrayed as beautiful, alluring creatures, who are more civilized then how passed
tales have depicted. In the The Twilight Saga movies, based on the Stephenie Meyer
s controversial book series, vampires are reinvented with more human attributes and
feelings. Not only do they have human like feelings but they display social issues
that human s face in society as well. A human social issue that has made its way into
fantasy vampiretales is sexism. The Twilight Saga utilizes the horror genre... Show

Bella is caught between two men in the film, Edward and Jacob. Although she is
unquestionably in love with Edward, he abandons her so she is left in Forks with
Jacob. Jacob is a muscular, tan, teenage boy a few years younger than Bella but has
the build of a man twice his own age. With Edward gone, Bella does not try to go
on life alone or be independent; she runs to Jacob. A source on Intangible
Divulgences describes this point of the saga and states The love triangle is
established, with Bella now caught between two men, given a choice, as Meyer
sees it, but a choice to attach herself to a male no matter what it takes. (Divulgence

herself; it s either Edward or Jacob, being with herself is not option. Bella is
portrayed as so codependent because she is physically fragile and clumsy.
Christine Jarvis, author of The Twilight Of Feminism? Stephenie Meyer s Saga
And The Contradictions Of Contemporary Girlhood. talks about how Bella is
create this way purposely so she can be a relatable character for women because
she is powerless. (Jarvis 102). The Twilight Saga display a sort of power imbalance
with Edward having more power than Bella does. Edward is basically
indestructible and calm while Bella is frantic and can barely fend for herself. She
also has no strength, physically or emotionally while Edward and Jacob are
depicted as the epitome of strength and self control. In one part of New Moon,
Bella agrees to rebuild dirt bikes with Jacob but does no manual labor whatsoever
and even gets hurt clumsily falling in the tool shed. Bella embodies all the negative
stereotypes society has created against women, yet she is still looked up to by
viewers because she is with an attractive man with incredible

Documentary films can include every type of discourse about the real world. The
accomplishments of nonfiction film are derived from more than the stereotypical
edited interview segment, and recently have been a totality that is useful as much
for showing reality as it is for expressing the creative visions of its director. It is
possible for the most extrinsic implications to be presented in a way that reflects
individual systemics and personal expression. The innovation of a nonfiction work

This contributes to the rhetorical (sometimes even allegorical) intensity and the style
of Morris. As he has said, There s no reason why documentaries can t be as personal
as fiction filmmaking and bear the imprint of those who made them. Truth isn t
guaranteed by style or expression. It isn t guaranteed by anything. (Bruzzi, 1 10)
Yuki Yukite Shingun, or God s Naked Army Marches On, was directed by
Kazuo Hara in 1988. The story revolves around Okuzaki Kenzo, a Japanese veteran
of the Pacific War (particularly in New Guinea) who seeks past officers to take
responsibility for atrocities committed 40 years ago and acknowledge the truth of
war. When the living relatives of the victims of these atrocities no longer
accompany Okuzaki, he takes the ultimate step to confuse the camera s world with
reality by having actor s play those roles during his sometimesviolent interviews.
Furthermore, the relation of the camera to the real is problematized by the
awareness of the camera that is inherent in this type of interviewing. The theories of
Roland Barthes, a leading 20th century social and literary critic, are the basis for the
dilemma posed by the possible conflicts of the camera and what is real. He explains
the photograph as something that always carries its referent with itself. He goes on to
say that because of this relationship, the image is a constant reminder

Advancements In Technology And Transhumanism
The talk between the advancements in technology and the idea of transhumanism
have been highly neglected. The advancements in technology have allowed us as
humans to converse, interact, and create huge opportunities for a better world.
Transhumanism has been of talk lately and it benefits us as humans in many ways.
Both of these topics are interconnected because without technology there is no way
transhumanismwould be possible. Although, technology and transhumanism have
their downfalls they provide nothing but positive outcomes. With technology
providing us with opportunities that were believed to be impossible and the idea
of transhumanism allowing us to create a life that one could only imagine, present
us with a utopian way of living. Technology has been advancing year after year
providing the people with opportunities to grow. We use technology every single
day. Many use it to conversate and interact with family or people all around the
world. In an article titled Life in the Fourth Millennium by Steven Pinker he states
that Humans are social species with intense longings for friends, communities,
family and spouses, consummated by face to face contact. (Pinker 13th paragraph).
Face to face contact is what humans were presented with until the 2000 s. This day
in age it is too expensive to travel across country or to another country just to be
consummated by face to face contact. With these advancements we are able to
communicate face to face via Skype,

Is it plausible to assume that these adults are going to just give up their civil
liberties so easily? An examination of East Carolina University students intentions
regarding their behavior following passage of the 21 year age drinking law
revealed that only 6% intended to stop drinking, 70% planned to change their
drinking location, 21% expected to use a false or borrowed identification to obtain
alcohol and 22% intended to use other drugs (Hanson, The Legal Drinking Age par.
4). The current law is simply not feasible. It infringes upon millions of American s
constitutional rights while inadvertently increasing the amount of alcohol that is
consumed, and offering a proposed solution that clearly will not be achieved.
Others have proposed that it might be more acceptable and reasonable to allow
people within the ages 18 and 20 to drink only when in the presence of their legal
guardians, but this is obviously not realistic in the least. No parent can be held
responsible for their son or daughter to any further extent when they become a legal
adult. Changing the minimum drinking age to 18 is the only honest and justifiable
resolution that will be reached. This paper s intention is not to argue that
Who Is The Burden Of Free Will In The Brothers
Karamazov
Nothing has ever been more insupportable for a man and a human society than
freedom. The Grand Inquisitor Above all, don t lie to yourself. The man who lies to
himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth
within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And
having no respect he ceases to love. Father Zosima. These two quotes voice the
polarized philosophies that impregnate the book, The Brothers Karamazov. Ivan, the
second of the three sons, and Zosima, the old monk, are huge commentators on the
question, Is the burden of free will to much for a human to bear? Ivan s philosophy
revolves around the idea that free will, the choice to choose the good or... Show more

It was true. That s how I reasoned.
Father Zossima had a very different view on sin, free will, and morality, Let each of
you keep close company with his heart, let each of you confess to himself
untiringly. Do not be afraid of your sin. He understood that people sinned. He
understood that there was free will, but he did not let that deter him from pursuing
the good. Whereas Ivan taught that sin was inevitable and therefore permissible,
Father Zossima taught that although there was freewill, there was a teacher to
combat the sin, Brothers, love is a teacher; but one must know how to acquire it,
for it is hard to acquire, it is dearly bought, it is won slowly by long labor. For we
must love not only occasionally, for a moment, but for ever.
Alyosha, after some soul struggling, lives this out in the way in which he cares for
Koyla in the end. He shows him that doctrine of love. Through following Zosima s
philosophy of continual love, he slowly turns Koyla away from his atheism and
shows him the joy of Christianity. Through love, Alyosha refutes Ivan s philosophy
that free will is too much to bear and instead shows the good free will does. It allows
someone to choose the good. The good is a joy instead of a prison.
The Brothers Karamazov deals with deep, philosophical questions. It fights

Global Warming As Causes Of El Nino Southern Oscillation Phenomena
The advancements in various sectors in the life of human beings, which often exploit
natural resources without control, directly or indirectly lead to changes in the
environment sustained effect unconsciously towards the emergence of a disaster. The
other thing is the changes of natural phenomena that occur periodically turned into
irregular and even a negative effect on habitat and human life.
People unrealized that the way of our lives and conduct of our business lead into
vulnerability. In this case into global warming, which potentially create many
problems more clearly. But the issue becomes complicated since the cause of global
warming itself derived from industrial and agricultural activities that give people
prosperity and welfare standards of living (Philander, 2004).
One of the phenomena that direct and directly affect people s habitat and life is El
Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO). Based on Syamsuddin (Syamsuddin, et al.,
2013), El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) can be defined as climate fluctuation in
a large scale pattern of the globe that influence powerfully. While McPhaden
(Meyers, et al., 2007) stated that ENSO is one of climate variability with a strong
connection between the atmosphere and the ocean in the Pacific equatorial. In a
simple way ENSO can be concluded as a natural phenomenon caused by ocean
atmosphere interactions. Furthermore, the ENSO cycle divided
A Short Note On Diabetes And Type 2 Diabetes
Thesis statements
Sugar is the extremely common item in people s lives. However, only few people
know the true thing that hides behind its sweet. When people eat too much sugar
everyday, they will have high sugar level and cause their bodies do not have enough
insulin to digest the sugar. Then, they might have diabetic disease.
Introduction
Diabetes
There are two types of diabetes: type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes
is a disease that doctor can not predict or prevent. People still can produce insulin
after they eat cake, cookie or drank soda. It occurs when immune system attacks the
pancreas and damages the cells that produce insulin(Living with diabetes 11).

Type of sugar
Carbohydrates, glucose and fructose are the three types out of the various types of
sugar that contains in daily food. Carbohydrates exist in sugar and starches. Also,
carbohydrates can identify in two types: simple sugar and complex carbohydrates.
The difference between simple sugar and complex carbohydrates is simple sugar
will be broken down quickly by the body(Living with diabetes,67 68). Glucose is
absorbed by the pancreas, which produces insulin to balance the sugar levels and
then turns it into energy for human s bodies.(Banks, Ice cold trouble: do the risks
of soda outweigh the refreshment? ) Fructose is the type of sugar that is usually
found in fruit and sweeteners. It does not help to produce insulin and it has more
negative effect on human body. Additionally, it does not make you feel full and
people will keep drinking the sweet stuff. The fructose that people eat will directly
go into the liver which is the primary organ that digest it. The liver will turn the
fructose into a specific form of fat and store it in the liver and release it into the
bloodstream. In addition, the fructose breaks down in the liver just like alcohol and
it will have some similar effect like alcohol. (Diane, Fructose: friend or foe? ) Thus,
do not trust the sweet mask of the sugar. In fact, it will cause a bad disease called
diabetes.
Effect of soda
Soda has great effect on human s body. A regular soda has high sugar which consists
of cheap corn syrup. There
Environmental Deterioration Of A Sustainable Industrial...
Cleaner production is the roadway to sustainable industrial development.
Industrialization upgraded the world along with generation of hazardous wastes.
Chemical and process industries are under constant scrutiny in the eye of legal,
economic and ecological authorities for being liable to produce such wastes. Thus in
order minimize these liabilities, the minimization of wastes should be taken care at
the source. China has been acknowledged globally for its immense population
growth. With economic growth and massive industrial boom, the environmental
deterioration has been on the rise. Although the government has undertaken several
steps and formulated various laws however, the response received is critical.

development. However, apart from human activity, the north east region of China the
desertification is caused by wind erosion. Along with wind erosion, there is water
erosion as well. e)Loss of Biodiversity: With the increased urbanization and
industrialisation, there have been several proposals of hydrological dams to support
the demanding economic growth. As per China Ecological Footprint Report, 2012,
the biodiversity of China is under massive threat due to the construction of four dams.
In current global scenario China is the leading exporter in the world. That being said,
the manufacturing units in terms of various industries such as, dye, chemical, food
and beverages etc. are growing every day. However, the production practices are very
poor, which is the main cause of the waste generation and pollution in the country.
a)Reduction of Long term Liabilities: After many years of waste generation and
pollution, the companies are disturbed about the environmental issues and waste
disposal, cleaner production eliminates such liabilities.(UNEP, 2015) b)Lowering
Production Cost: The production cost is reduced by substitution of raw materials for
production, economical and environment friendly extraction of raw materials.

Oceanography also called oceanology or marine science, is the branch of Earth
science that studies the ocean. It covers a wide range of topics, including marine
organisms and ecosystem dynamics; ocean currents, waves, and geophysical fluid
dynamics; plate tectonics and the geology of the sea floor; and fluxes of various
chemical substances and physical properties within the ocean and across its
boundaries. These diverse topics reflect multiple disciplines that oceanographers
blend to further knowledge of the world ocean and understanding of processes within
it: biology, chemistry, geology, meteorology, and physics as well as geography.

Literary Devices In Middlemarch
In Middlemarch, George Eliot utilizes several literary devices to portray her two
characters and their complex relationship that reveals their marriage is dominated by
the husband who objectifies his wife into silence. Throughout the passage, Eliot
makes it clear that Rosamond and Tertius Lydgate are in an uneven relationship,
considering Tertius refuses to listen to his wifewho seems to only have his best
interest at heart, yet still, he continues to yell at her for thinking she knows what is
best for him. With the help of details, Tertius s critical tone, and imagery, Eliot is
able to showcase how complex their relationship is when it comes to Rosamond
giving her opinions and ideas, just to be casted to the side. In several parts of the
passage, Eliot hints that Rosamond loves her husband, however, is constantly
disciplined by Tertius when she speaks up on his actions. With her selection of
details, it exemplifies the complexities of the couple s marriageand how as a
newlywed, their life together is only just beginning, yet already, Rosamond is getting
cold feet. This is asserted when it states, the thought in her mind was that if she had
known how Lydgate would behave, she would never have married him (77 79). Eliot
explains how Rosamond is doubting Tertius s lovefor her, considering the fact he is
always making her feel inferior to him. Certain details such as Rosamond being
sensitive and a young creature who had known nothing but indulgence and whose
The Purpose Of A Case Study
Media research indicates that journalistic standards and practices are socially
constructed systems, which deal with complex work processes by organising news
flow and explicating roles and competencies (Tuchman 1978; Fishman 1980). The
case study method is regarded as a valid tool to analyse a complex issue. A case study
is defined as an empirical inquiry that investigates a contemporary phenomenon
within its real life context (Yin 2003: 13). It is best used to understand complex
social and organisational issues. Case study evidence to answer researchquestions and
contribute to theory development originates from a variety of sources, such as
documentation, archival records, interviews (qualitative or quantitative) and
observation. In this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second is that it is not easily open to generalisation but if it is contextualised
and carefully described then others can consider its usefulness in other contexts
and examples (Wisker 2001:191). Finally, Dominick and Wimmer argue that case
studies are likely to be time consuming and may occasionally produce massive
quantities of data that are hard to summarise (1987: 165). With regard to this study,
I would like to argue that the strengths of observations outweigh the weaknesses. In
addition, there is simply no other method that applies better to what I want to
investigate. The findings are not representative of all newsrooms experimenting
with convergence since the research is derived from one case. Therefore I do not
wish to generalise any findings from this case study. I tried to provide readers with
good raw material for their own generalising because the reader can make his or her
own generalisations and interpret it their way (Stake, 1995:102). However, the
findings will offer insights that could be probed for future

The Texas Railroad Commission And The American
Economy Essay
The Texas Railroad Commission What does one think about when they hear the
words Texas Railroad Commission? Many things may come to mind but it s really
only two things and those are natural gas and oil. Which happened to be one of
Texas biggest assets year round. It is one of the largest bodies in all of the country
which gives it such a large influence on the supply and prices of oil in the country.
When the commission first came about its original purpose was to oversee the
railroads. When James Hogg lead the Populist style resentment for the railroads he
won his election in 1890 and became governor mainly based on the fact that, he had
promised to have the railroads regulated. The Texas Railroad Commission evolved
from its founding in 1891 to a multi divisional regulatory commission that oversaw
not only railroads but also a number of other industries central to the modern
American economy: petroleumproduction, natural gasutilities, and motor carriers.
(Childs, 2005) The state simultaneously amended the constitution to allow such a
body. With this being established it gave jurisdiction over the operation of railroads,
rates, wharves, terminals and express companies. Governor Hogg s first appointments
were John H. Reagan (chairman), Judge William Pinckney McLean, and Lafayette L.
Foster. In 1894 the legislature made the agency elective, the three commissioners
henceforth serving six year, overlapping terms in Austin. (Prindle, 1991) Despite the

Conspiracy Theory Of Chemtrails
When you look up at the sky and you see these weird straight lines that are behind
jets those are called chemtrails. Chemtrails are created when a jet engine is
releasing hot, humid air into the atmosphere that is cold and has low pressure, the
result is these white lines that you see come out of the jet. To break it down the jet
releases water vapor and when it s coming out of the engine it quickly condenses into
water droplets and then turns into ice crystals. The ice crystals are the lines (clouds)
that are forming behind the jet engine. Some people believe that they are something
chilling. Some people believe in the conspiracy theory that the chemtrails are not

Collective Learning In Human Communication
Communication is a way to interact and share ideas with other humans. All different
types of species have there own type of communication from the barks of dogs to the
chirps of birds. During the process of communication humans input collective
learning. Collective learning is being able to connect with each other in new ways,
adapt to the environment without changing genetically, and pass information from
generation to generation. Collective learning is basically the ability to share,
preserve, and build upon ideas over time. Animals lack the part of collective learning
in there communication. Languagemakes humans different from other species
because animals cannot input collective learning into their communication.
Language makes humans different from other species because the cannot put
collective learning into there communication. An Australian zoologist made a
discovery of the way honeybees communicate. He discovered that bees
communicate by small dances they make to tell other bees where to find food. The
text cites, If pollen is close to the hive, bees move in a circle... and if pollen is
farther ways the use the tail wagging dance (Text #2). One of the parts of collective
learning is being being able to build upon ideas. The bees have made up the dance to
show where the food is but, they cannot build upon it they way humans can. There
dances are fixed and it cannot be changed. Yes, it can be passed on from generation to
generation but they cannot fix it

Freedom Of Speech And Expression Essay
After enactment of Constitution, many laws related to press were challenged before

extensive. Ritchie (1984) discussed a number of positive and negative impacts
physical, socio cultural, and economic felt by a community hosting major sport event
s. A study by Barry University estimated that hosting the 1995 Super Bowl generated
$204.5 million for the south Florida economy (Davis, 1995). However, Matzielli
(1989) cautions that the impacts of hosting such events vary considerably and are
often dependent on the indicators used to measure the effects. Nonetheless, for many
communities in the United States, hosting sports events from the Super Bowl to the
state youth football championships has become a
Essay Analysis of Cousin Kate by Christina Rossetti
Analysis of Cousin Kate by Christina Rossetti
Cousin Kate by Christina Rossetti describes a cottage maiden who was seduced
and used by the lord of the estate for which she worked. She was surprised and
taken a back by the fact that someone so great and powerful could be slightly
interested in her, and so she automatically fell in love with him. It wasn t until after
he had slept with her that he left her for her cousin, Kate. The cottage maiden was
devastated that he had done that to her. She felt unclean and unwanted. The lordasked
for Kate s hand in marriage and she accepted.
The cottage maid thought that he married Kate because she was innocent and pure,

Men would then look down on you in disgust, as would friends and family. The
poem demonstrates how a man can love a woman, then throw her away and move
onto another as he pleases, and because he was a Lord the cottage maiden could
not say a thing. This brings into light the difference between higher and lower
class people. If the cottage maiden had said anything, people would not believe her
and turn a blind eye to her and to her accusations. According to the maiden, Kate s
love was not real. O cousin Kate my love was true, your love was writ in sand .
This tells us that Kate s love was going to disappear and was only a temporary
emotion which was later just blown away like writing in the sand, whilst the
maiden s love was real. The maiden may just be saying this for revenge against
Cousin Kate to try and make herself feel better but we do not know. The Lord s
love towards the maiden was not real, His plaything and his love . Plaything and love
are two very different contrasts with each other. Did he really love her for a while or
was it all just a game to him? He used her and made her believe that he liked her
then left her for Kate.
The maiden was infatuated by the Lord and fell in love with him instantly. He used
this, his power and his wealth against the maiden.
The Lord casts off the female once he meets Kate, who is fairer than the narrator.
This shows that males do not always get emotionally involved in
Coral Reef Loss
A current problem impacting the island of tonga is the destruction of coral reef.
One solution to this problem is to put guard towers to watch people or higher more
DLNR (department of land and natural resources) workers. According to Coral
conservation the text states the world s coral are in a crisis. This shows that if we do
not take action and do something about it like hire more DLNR workers we may as
well kiss the reefs goodbye. According to coral reef: threats/ wwf the text states
Roughly one quarter of coralreefs worldwide are already considered damaged
beyond repair, with another two thirds under serious threat. This shows that hiring
more DLNR is needed because they can watch to make sure no one is doing
anything to harm the reef and that a lot of the reef is already gone. To reach this
solution we must first agree that there is a problem and that this is a way to help fix...

According to losing our coral reefs, the text states that Ten percent of coral reefs
have already been damaged beyond repair, and if we continue with business as
usual, WRI projects that 90% of coral reefs will be in danger by 2030, and all of
them by 2050. This shows that if we do not do anything to try and help then the
coral reef will be in some serious trouble. In order to launch the commercials we
must hire a company to broadcast our commercials during their breaks like CNN.
According to threats to coral reef, the text states Sometimes poisons like cyanide
are dumped into the water to stun fish and make them easier to capture. Sadly,
fishing with cyanide often kills fish, corals, and other forms of wildlife, while
degrading the reef habitat itself. This shows that advertising commercials will help
to notify and encourage people to be more aware and responsible. By doing this we
will help to save a lot of
Gambling In The United States
Betting on sports is a popular entertainment in the U.S. But sports betting is
gambling, which has long been deemed by state and federal governments to be a
vice from which American citizens require protection. In an attempt to limit the
availability of sports betting , a 1992 federal law, the Professional and Amateur
Sports Protection Act (PASPA), made sports betting illegal in all but four
grandfathered states (Nevada, Oregon, Montana and Delaware). At the time, only
Nevada had true single team sports wagering. With the advent of the Internet a year
or two later, legal online betting began in 1994, when Antigua and Barbuda passed a
law that allowed licenses for opening online casinos. By 1997, more than 200

William Shakespeare s Legacy
William Shakespeare born around april 26, 1564 was a man truly ahead of his
time. He has written many great plays and is known for not only writing for the rich
but the poor as well. His plays entertained the masses and have been around for over
400 years.
Despite Shakespeare s legacy little is actually known about him. The earliest
record of Shakespeare is on April 26, 1564 when he was baptized in Stratford. He
was birthed by his parents John Shakespeare and Mary Arden who were well
respected people. William later attended Stratford grammar school where he spent
about 9 hours a day learning how to read and write.
After his early years were over William decided to settle down and marry Anne
Hathaway. They were married on November 28, 1582,

July 1968 is a symbolic date during Cultural revolution, when, student activists as
the ed Guards expanded their authority, and accelerated their efforts at social
reconstruction (Yuan Gao 122 132). They began by passing out leaflets explaining
their actions to develop and strengthen socialism and they even held public
meetings to criticize and solicit self criticism from suspected counter
revolutionaries (those who do not agree on Mao s revolution idea, especially those
who support the four olds ; old ideas, cultures, manners and customs. Here is
another reason why, Mr. Chiu could be suspected as an ex member of the Red
Guards. Even though, it is stated that the story takes place sometime in the post
Cultural Revolution period, bear in mind, that what the writer wants to stress is how
much the cultural Revolution affects the lives of the nation. The story somehow
borders between the present and the past . It is blend of what people have gone
through during the Cultural Revolution and the repercussions of the years after.
Geographical setting in Saboteur plays the significant irony. It is an element that
implies the state of the masses. Ha Jin, like in his other works, chooses China as its
central geographical setting. In this case, China is a crucial choice; based on a
chosen period, (post Cultural Revolution). The world focuses on the inevitable chaos

Sport Tryouts Argumentative Essay
Have you ever felt the nerve of tryouts? Every kid gets it when they are trying out
for something in their life. Youth competitive sport tryouts have been a hot topic
recently. Sport tryouts are times when your nervous and have 210% of anxiety. You
try your hardest to the sport team you love. Some people say tryouts are fair and
some people think they are not, for example bias coaches. Although some critics
argue coaches are bias, tryouts for youth competitive sports are fair because the
coaches want to get the best team and the kids with the most talent. Sporttryouts also
make kids work harder for what they want. One reason why tryouts should exist is
because coaches look for the best team and the kids with the most talent. On the
website Blue Times it states, ...they give each player an equal opportunity to show
off to the coaches, and ensure there are not too many players on the same team. All
in all, tryouts are easy and effective way to showcase the talents of athletes (Eric 1).
As we can see tryouts are a way to show off to the coaches that you are a good
player. Also, coaches can only pick a limited amount or you might be on the team
but never play. Further more on the the website Drops of Ink it states, Yet, tryouts

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Lead Acid Battery
3.5.1.2 Preventing Overcharge
It is commonly known that overcharging decreases battery life. Due to
overcharging, the temperature level increases causing sepration of hydrogen and
oxygen, thereby reducing the water level. These gasses start evaporating and due
to excessive voltage may catch fire and explode. That s why it is essential to
prevent our system from overcharging. It is simply a matter of reducing the flow of
energy to the battery when the battery reaches a specific voltage. Charge controllers
also work as a voltage regulator. Some charge controllers works on the principle of
On/Off Control means regulate the flow of energy to the battery by switching the
current. This is called PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). This type of regulator ...

3.6.1.1 Flooded Lead Acid (FLA) Deep Cycle Batteries
Flooded deep cycle lead acid batteries (FLA) are least expensive and commonly used
in solar energy system. These batteries contain the sulfuric acid, which reacts with
the lead plate and produces electricity. FLA deep cycle batteries required proper
maintenance because in charging situation electrolysis process occurs and procure
hydrogen and Oxygen which escape the cell through the filler, arises fluid loss so
proper monitoring of water level is essential. 3.6.1.2 Sealed Deep Cycle Batteries
Sealed deep cycle batteries are expensive than FLA batteries. In this type
electrolyte is suspended in either an absorbed glass mat or in gel form. And do not
last as many charging cycles. Sealed deep cycle batteries require less maintenance
therefore can be used in remote locations without attended. Sealed batteries have
vents to allow hydrogen to escape. Also, the only way to replace the escaped
moisture is by adding water to the cells. That s why the life of sealed batteries would
not be as long as flooded deep cycle lead acid
Figurative Language In Julius Caesar
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears (Shakespeare. III. 2. 73). This is
one of the most popular quotes of Shakespeare s play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar,
and it still prevails today. Throughout history, Shakespeare has written many
tragedies, this one being one of the most popular. This tragedy is about an all mighty
Roman leader who is expected to turn into a ambitious dictator once crowned.
Because of this, a group of important men conspire to kill him for many different
reasons, which leads to unexpected turns and conflicts in the plot. This includes a
speech by one of Caesar s closest confidants, Antony. His speech persuades Rome to
turn against the conspirators and creates more conflict throughout the play. In

Pathos is a way of persuading an audience by using emotional appeal. In his speech,
Antony states, My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar, and I must pause till it

infamous speech, Antony needed a lasting statement to completely transform the
crowd of mourners into rioters. Pathos is used to pull at one s emotions and create a
reaction; consequently, anger and rage were the most prominent emotions after this
statement. By using pathos, Antony took advantage of the mourners at their most
vulnerable state and altered their mourning into
The Battle Of Fallujah Brigade
The 2nd Battle of Fallujah was fought during OIF 2 (Operation Iraqi Freedom).
Operation Iraqi Freedom 2 began at about March April 2004 and lasted until
February March 2005. The 2nd Battle of Fallujah began 7 November 2004 and
ended 23 December 2004. The objective of the operation was to capture or kill those
responsible for murders and, corrupt activities, and end the rise of the insurgency in
the city. The intent of the operation was to restore control of the city to the Coalition

At the end of Operation Vigilant Resolve, the Marines withdrew from the city and

was an Iraqi solution to the Fallujah problem, composed of former Iraqi soldiers and
locally recruited men. Major General Jassim Mohammed Saleh who was immediately

originally led the brigade. The security responsibilities included provisions for the
surrender of heavy weapons by the insurgents and stipulated that the Fallujah Brigade

Similarities Between Humans And Vampires In Bram Stoker

Pale, bloodthirsty, and fangs are some words that trigger readers minds with one
particular being: a vampire. These creatures have been around for centuries and it is
evident how they are all portrayed with negativity, including in Bram Stoker s novel:

the course of his stay, he discovers that the host is actually a nosferatu(vampirein

To begin with, vampires usually have supernatural powers. In Dracula, Mr. Van
Helsing who is a vampire expert describes Count Dracula s abilities to his
comrades to plan a way to stop the master plan. He expresses the brutal strength
along with the difficulty of killing them. They can also change their forms such as
bat or even a mist. In addition, vampires have the ability to manipulate animals.
(Stoker 255) All of these are compelling powers that humans are incapable to
possess. It may seem all great and scary, but these beings have limitations. Again,
Van Helsing explains to his companions as in the same setting as before. He can do
all these things, yet he is not free. Nay; he is even more than the slave of the
galley, than the madman in his cell (258) illustrates how strenuous it is to be a
nosferatu. Their limitations include: restricted freedom, weakness towards sacred
items and garlic, cannot enter an area unless invited, as well as show no reflection
in a mirror. These limitations can make some feel as if they are trapped in a dark
cave with only a candle to light the way. As a result, even though vampires posses
supernatural powers, they have flaws similar to human
Classical Athens Vs Sparta
The classical period of Ancient Greece lasted from 776 BCE to 323 BCE, ending
with the death of Alexander the Great. During that entire period, women were shut
away. They didn t have the same rights as men, and were seen as inferior, and even
dangerous. Exact specifics varied from city state to city state, but the general
discrimination against women remained consistent. Even in Sparta, where women
were at least seen as people, and could own property independantly, they didn t have
equal rights. The two city states we have the most information about are Athens and
Sparta. In most others, information has either been lost, or not recorded by male
scholars. In Athens, women had almost zero rights. They couldn t hold any political

Functionality
The practicability of low cost car parking facilities is important for the commercial
sector. The design features used to make the car parking structure easier to operate

The number and arrangement of the ramps, entrances and exits all depend on the size

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS The author would like to thank Drs. Robert Slavin,
Margarita CalderГіn, and Jill Fitzgerald for their valuable feedback on an earlier

significant changes in the U.S. student population. In particular, the number and
percentage of immigrants in schools have increased dramatically since 1970. From
1970 to 1995, the number of immigrant children, ages 5 to 20, living in the United
States more than doubled, from 3.5 to 8.6 million. As the number grew, immigrant
children represented a larger percentage of students in U.S. schools, increasing from
6% in 1970 to 16% in 1995 and 19% in 1997 (Ruiz de Velasco Fix, 2000). While
their numbers have increased, English language learners (ELLs) lag significantly
behind their fluent English speaking peers in reading. For example, in California,

  • 2. Texas Football Game Analysis The Texans won nine games in 2014 15, but just two of those victories came against teams with a record above .500. Ryan Fitzpatrick, who started at quarterback the majority of Houston s games last season, is suddenly the Jets starting quarterback. Texans head coach Bill O Brien has yet to name a starting quarterback this season, setting up a battle between Ryan Mallett and recently acquired Brian Hoyer. In his rookie season, 2014 No. 1 overall draft pick Jadeveon Clowney played in just four games and failed to record a sack. Clowney will be expected to show the world why the Texans thought he was worth a No. 1 overall pick, and Houston will attempt to reach the postseason for the first time since the 2012 13 season. Indianapolis Colts Few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alex Smith had another solid season (3,265 passing yards, 18 passing touchdowns) with a 93.4 quarterback rating and throwing just six interceptions. Jamaal Charles rushed for 1,033 yards, and although he was in and out of the Chiefs lineup throughout the season because of nagging injuries, backup running back Knile Davis showed promise. The Chiefs defense even finished seventh in the league in total yards allowed last season So, why didn t Kansas City finish with a better record? Look no further than the teams receiving corps, which failed to haul in one catch for a touchdown last season. Kansas City s wide receivers don t seem to be much better this season, but the addition of Jeremy Maclin should help. It s safe to say Maclin should catch at least one touchdown this season, which would be more than every receiver on the roster a season

Terry Burchett ECO100 Survey of Contemporary Economic Issues Ramzi Salloum July 23, 2012 While should the government increases tax rate on everyone as a way to equalize incomes and wealth? It would make it easier for many people and make it fair for the poor and middle class citizens. Government officials that are elected are there to take care of policies and programs. Because when Gross Domestic Product( GPD) taxes increase spending and receipts rise and the government and the budget from surplus to a increase, when Gross Domestic Product taxes (GPD) reduce spending and receipts decline and the move of government budget from surplus toward a deficit. The figures I show are for the US. I expect that the European countries with all of the current debt problems would likely have similar or worse values, if calculations were done for them. I think the way GDP is calculated today misses many of the linkages as to what is really happening. I know my model is not exactly right but I hope it gives some insight as to what is really happening, as oil prices and the credit markets interact to affect the economy. As I look at this model, one question comes up: What if a similar oil price run up occurs again, followed by more recession, and even more reduction in lending? Governments are already spending far more than they take in. The high spending already in place, and the large gap between revenue and expenditures, makes it clear that there is not much room for a repeat stimulus program. The next time around could be much worse! (Treberg, 2010) Additionally, when Gross Domestic Product taxes reduce spending and receipts decline and the move of government budget from surplus toward a deficit. Generally, if the average person gross income stays the same and the government raises taxes, it
  • 4. The Cold War On South Korea The Cold War was a series of wars that commenced in order to prevent communism from spreading. The Korean War was one of the first actions the military took in this war. The conflicts began when the Japanese had lost possession of Korea in World War II. It was separated into two divisions known as North and South Korea. North Korea and the Soviet forces had built up a communist government led by Kim II Sung, a dictator. Opposingly, South Korea and the United States created a republican government which president Syngman Rhee led. Eventually, this created tension between North and South Korea due to the different views on ruling. This would begin a series of battles and casualties within the Korean War. North Korean armies to lead an unannounced attack on South Korea and a small U.S. force on June 25, 1950, with over 135,00 soldiers. The battle took place over the 38th Parallel. The South Korean Army, known as the ROK, were ill prepared against the North Korea s machinery and weapons. With little support the ROK was at a major disadvantage in this attack. Many parts of South Korea were taken over with the goal of uniting Korea under one government. As a result, on June 27, President Truman of the U.S., along with the UN, sent troops over seas to aid South Korea. From this invasion in 1950 to July 27, 1953, there would be a long series of battles between South Korea (Republic of Korea) and North Korea(Democratic People s of Republic Korea). North Korean
  • 5. Bandura s Idea Of Self Efficacy Discuss how the concept of self efficacy applies in this child s case. According to Bandura (1994), self efficacy depends on a person s belief about his or her capabilities, and it plays an extreme role on how people think, feel, and behave. Banduras idea of self efficacy relies on four sources: mastery experiences, vicarious experiences, social persuasion, and somatic/emotional states (Bandura, 1994). Victor expressed high self efficacy when he lived in Mexico, yet low self efficacy when he moved to America. Bandura s implications explains how Victors self efficacy changed with his environment. In America Victor heard the older youth cursing during basketball games so, he modeled their behavior. In Mexico Victor was positively impacted by his teachers kind remarks: concerning his behavior and ranking compared to other kids his age. Victor had been socially persuaded by his peers in America to drink alcohol, and although he was indulging in unacceptable events, being able to identify with a group actually helped build his confidence, while adjusting to his new society. Bandura (1994) last source suggests that Victors mood or emotional state would reflect his area of efficacy. In result, when exposed to reassuring stimuli Victor is able to produce positive thoughts, feelings, and express good behavior. In contrast, the fear of fitting in, keeping up with his class, and adjusting to a new
  • 6. What Strategies Can Work For A Business Culture Where... What Strategies Can Organizations Use to Address Gender Inequality in the Workplace?Managers should be mindful of assuming that women have greater family work inconsistencies than men, and that this can impact their views of women s suitability for promotions. Companies should make an effort to create a business culture where family diversity is respected and valued. Companies that permit the family work conflict bias to exist stand the chance of being looked upon by outsiders as discriminatory (Hoobler, 2011). Organizations must be trained to identify and value gendervariations. Performance evaluations and promotion choices should be based on a person s performance at work and not linked to possible family work issues. Organizations including recruiters and management can implement the following techniques to promote gender equality in the workplace: 1.Increase people s awareness of the psychological drivers of prejudice toward female leaders, and work to dispel those perceptions. 2.Change the long hours norm. 3.Reduce the subjectivity of performance evaluation 4.Use open recruitment tools, such as advertising and employment agencies, rather than relying on informal social networks and referrals to fill positions. 5.Ensure a critical mass of women in executive positions not just one or two women to head off the problems that come with tokenism. 6.Prepare women for line management with appropriately demanding assignments. 7.Establish family friendly human resources

  • 8. Navajo Nation s General Transportation Plan An Evaluation of the Navajo Nation s General Transportation Plan If everything in life is very simple and predictable, then we do not need any planning, (Kim). However, this is not the case today because most developing cities and communities need planning in order to guide their goals and visions for future land use. A document called a general plan(also known as a comprehensive plan), helps guide developing cities and communities with a detailed framework for its land use. The Navajo Nation, one of the largest Indian reservations in the United States, is an example of a community that utilizes a general plan. In December 2009, the Navajo Nation submitted the Navajo Nation Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) to the Transportation Planning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... NTS operates on seven fixed routes connecting small urban areas and also connects with other transit systems like Greyhound Busline. The use of NTS has increased from 66,000 to 80,000 riders over a two year period (LRTP II F2). Due to poor road conditions the safety for NTS has become an issue. The general plans provided background information on the Navajo Nation Indian Reservation Road (IRR) system and this helps to understand how the nation s road network operates. Since the nation overlaps different boundaries the IRR system administers the various highway programs, these include tribal, state, county, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), and other agency roads. Almost half of the nation s highways are BIA roads and majority is unpaved. The interesting part of this section is how these roads are different agency roads but the nation manages to overlook all these roads through the IRR system. In conclusion, the transportation system on the Navajo Nation needs vast improvements to benefit its people. For a general plan, the transportation plan is one of the most important elements for cities and communities. When planning, it is very important to learn and know the area, city or community. A city or community will be forever changing and developing. For this reason, a city or community will need a plan to develop, maintain, and improve its use of

  • 10. European Expansion In The New World Essay Impacts of European expansion reached across the world and affected more than the expanding European powers and their colonies in the new world. Life in the world changed when these two cultures that were directly opposite of one another collided. Europe was filled with greed for resources and wealth, the Indigenous people living on these resources were living a simple sustainable life with next to no government or regulation. Once the new world was set up Europeans who ran these new territories called colonists today developed their own society and way of living and would end up revolting against the homeland. Indigenous people in the Americas or Indians as Christopher Columbus first named them on an exploration voyage in 1492, had their lives completely change almost immediately upon the arrival of European settlers. In the New World or the Americas as we know them today settlers of colonies or colonists moved in at their respective locations and began living a new life in a New World. Europeans tried to recreate Europein America they forced native people to live their lives and created systems to exploit native people. Systems such as these were implemented in the New World to assert the dominance of Europe and allow the countries colonizing to take what they wanted. European expansion into the New World brought a lot of changes, motivated by boosting trade and economy, some countries failed to see the harm done in accomplishing it. It was the colliding of two worlds that were not ready to meet that suddenly and abruptly. Without the brave explorers and colonists however, America may have not been discovered, or noticed for many years. The New World gave the Old World something and vice versa it is obvious today one needs the other to survive and that is what we all strive
  • 11. Physiotherapists Can Carry Out Assessments On Patients... Physiotherapists can carry out assessments on patients using falls risk assessment tools (FRAT). FRATS use questions and observations to categorise patients as low, moderate or high falls risks (Miedany, Gaafary, Toth, Palmer Ahmed, 2011) and identify the necessary level of intervention needed. Wong Shee, Phillips Hill s (2012) research promotes the use of the TNH STRATIFY falls score assessment tool. The TNH STRATIFY has an extensive question list, identifying more falls risk factors. Wong Shee et al s. (2012) research suggests the TNH STRAITFY has high inter rater reliability with an excellent intra class correlation score of 0.96. 1 is deemed a perfect score (Hallgen, 2012). The high inter rater reliability score adds statistical power to the research regarding the use of TNH STRATIFY due to consistency of the tool used on consecutive patients (Hallgren, 2012). Although the two raters of the tool scored high intra class correlation scores contributing to high inter rater reliability, the tools predictive risk factor specificity rating scored only moderately, with 0.52 (Wong Shee et al., 2012). For FRATS to be considered as having a high level of predictive risk accuracy the predictive specificity rating needs to be greater than 0.7 (Myers, 2003). This moderate rating of accuracy significantly limits the TNH STRATIFY s use in clinical practice. This is due to the fact that although the tool rates highly for reliable use between clinicians, the risk factor
  • 12. The Role Of Sexism Exposed In The Twilight Saga Movies Legends and tall tales of vampires have been around for generations. They were once beings society feared; pale, soulless, vicious beasts with blood stained mouths and long black capes. In recent years, this depiction has changed. Vampires are now portrayed as beautiful, alluring creatures, who are more civilized then how passed tales have depicted. In the The Twilight Saga movies, based on the Stephenie Meyer s controversial book series, vampires are reinvented with more human attributes and feelings. Not only do they have human like feelings but they display social issues that human s face in society as well. A human social issue that has made its way into fantasy vampiretales is sexism. Although she is unquestionably in love with Edward, he abandons her so she is left in Forks with Jacob. Jacob is a muscular, tan, teenage boy a few years younger than Bella but has the build of a man twice his own age. With Edward gone, Bella does not try to go on life alone or be independent; she runs to Jacob. A source on Intangible Divulgences describes this point of the saga and states The love triangle is established, with Bella now caught between two men, given a choice, as Meyer sees it, but a choice to attach herself to a male no matter what it takes. (Divulgence 1). Bella is never given or never considers the choice of being her own person or by herself; it s either Edward or Jacob, being with herself is not option. Bella is portrayed as so codependent because she is physically fragile and clumsy. Christine Jarvis, author of The Twilight Of Feminism? Stephenie Meyer s Saga And The Contradictions Of Contemporary Girlhood. talks about how Bella is create this way purposely so she can be a relatable character for women because she is powerless. (Jarvis 102). The Twilight Saga display a sort of power imbalance with Edward having more power than Bella does. Edward is basically indestructible and calm while Bella is frantic and can barely fend for herself. She also has no strength, physically or emotionally while Edward and Jacob are depicted as the epitome of strength and self control. In one part of New Moon, Bella agrees to rebuild dirt bikes with Jacob but does no manual labor whatsoever and even gets hurt clumsily falling in the tool shed. Bella embodies all the negative stereotypes society has created against women, yet she is still looked up to by viewers because she is with an attractive man with incredible

It isn t guaranteed by anything. (Bruzzi, 1 10) Yuki Yukite Shingun, or God s Naked Army Marches On, was directed by Kazuo Hara in 1988. The story revolves around Okuzaki Kenzo, a Japanese veteran of the Pacific War (particularly in New Guinea) who seeks past officers to take responsibility for atrocities committed 40 years ago and acknowledge the truth of war. When the living relatives of the victims of these atrocities no longer accompany Okuzaki, he takes the ultimate step to confuse the camera s world with reality by having actor s play those roles during his sometimesviolent interviews. Furthermore, the relation of the camera to the real is problematized by the awareness of the camera that is inherent in this type of interviewing. The theories of Roland Barthes, a leading 20th century social and literary critic, are the basis for the dilemma posed by the possible conflicts of the camera and what is real. He explains the photograph as something that always carries its referent with itself. He goes on to say that because of this relationship, the image is a constant reminder

The advancements in technology have allowed us as humans to converse, interact, and create huge opportunities for a better world. Transhumanism has been of talk lately and it benefits us as humans in many ways. Both of these topics are interconnected because without technology there is no way transhumanismwould be possible. All different types of species have there own type of communication from the barks of dogs to the chirps of birds. During the process of communication humans input collective learning. Collective learning is being able to connect with each other in new ways, adapt to the environment without changing genetically, and pass information from generation to generation. Collective learning is basically the ability to share, preserve, and build upon ideas over time. Animals lack the part of collective learning in there communication. Languagemakes humans different from other species because animals cannot input collective learning into their communication. Language makes humans different from other species because the cannot put collective learning into there communication. An Australian zoologist made a discovery of the way honeybees communicate. He discovered that bees communicate by small dances they make to tell other bees where to find food. The text cites, If pollen is close to the hive, bees move in a circle... and if pollen is farther ways the use the tail wagging dance (Text #2). One of the parts of collective learning is being being able to build upon ideas. The bees have made up the dance to show where the food is but, they cannot build upon it they way humans can. Essay Analysis of Cousin Kate by Christina Rossetti Analysis of Cousin Kate by Christina Rossetti Cousin Kate by Christina Rossetti describes a cottage maiden who was seduced and used by the lord of the estate for which she worked. She was surprised and taken a back by the fact that someone so great and powerful could be slightly interested in her, and so she automatically fell in love with him. It wasn t until after he had slept with her that he left her for her cousin, Kate. The cottage maiden was devastated that he had done that to her. She felt unclean and unwanted. The lordasked for Kate s hand in marriage and she accepted. The cottage maid thought that he married Kate because she was innocent and pure, Because you were so good and pure/He bound you with his ring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Men would then look down on you in disgust, as would friends and family. The poem demonstrates how a man can love a woman, then throw her away and move onto another as he pleases, and because he was a Lord the cottage maiden could not say a thing. This brings into light the difference between higher and lower class people. If the cottage maiden had said anything, people would not believe her and turn a blind eye to her and to her accusations. According to the maiden, Kate s love was not real. O cousin Kate my love was true, your love was writ in sand . This tells us that Kate s love was going to disappear and was only a temporary emotion which was later just blown away like writing in the sand, whilst the maiden s love was real. The maiden may just be saying this for revenge against Cousin Kate to try and make herself feel better but we do not know. The Lord s love towards the maiden was not real, His plaything and his love . Plaything and love are two very different contrasts with each other. Did he really love her for a while or was it all just a game to him? He used her and made her believe that he liked her then left her for Kate. The maiden was infatuated by the Lord and fell in love with him instantly. He used this, his power and his wealth against the maiden. The Lord casts off the female once he meets Kate, who is fairer than the narrator. This shows that males do not always get emotionally involved in

From 1970 to 1995, the number of immigrant children, ages 5 to 20, living in the United States more than doubled, from 3.5 to 8.6 million.
