Calcium phosphate cement (CPC) is an injectable, self-setting bone substitute made of calcium phosphate powders. Upon mixing with water, CPC sets into either calcium-deficient hydroxyapatite or brushite. CPC has excellent biocompatibility and osteoconductivity but low strength. Various methods can manipulate CPC properties like setting time, cohesion, and mechanical properties. Reinforcements like fibers, carbon nanotubes, and biopolymers have improved CPC strength and toughness. CPC is a promising synthetic bone graft material with properties tailored for bone regeneration applications.
