Good tutors enhance the prospective of technology to establish learners’ knowledge ,
promote interest & improve skill in maths (Baglama, Yikmis, & Demirok, 2017 )
Teachers who employ technology purposefully provide wider access to mathematics for
all learners.
Technological tools include those that are both content specific and content neutral. In
mathematics education, content-specific technologies include computer algebra systems;
dynamic geometry environments; interactive applets; handheld computation, data
collection, and analysis devices; and computer-based applications. These technologies
support students in exploring and identifying mathematical concepts and relationships.
Content-neutral technologies include communication and collaboration tools and Web-
based digital media, and these technologies increase students' access to information,
ideas, and interactions that can support and enhance sense making, which is central to
the process of taking ownership of knowledge. Findings from a number of studies have
shown that the strategic use of technological tools can support both the learning of
mathematical procedures and skills as well as the development of advanced
mathematical proficiencies, such as problem solving, reasoning, and justifying (e.g.,
Gadanidis & Geiger, 2010; Kastberg & Leatham, 2005; Nelson, Christopher, & Mims, 2009;
Pierce & Stacey, 2010; Roschelle, et al., 2009, 2010; Suh & Moyer, 2007).

BYOD/BYOT Implementation Plan for 9-12 Social Studies Dalton Public Schools Instructional Technology Plan: http://www.daltonpublicschools.com/about-dps/content-engagement/instructional-technology/ Platform The best platform for the BYOD/BYOT Implementation Plan for 9-12 Social Studies in Dalton Public Schools is the Windows platform. All teachers and most of the students have their own Microsoft surface tablet for the 2016-2017 school year. The Microsoft Surface tablet supports the Windows platform. Almost all of the devices in Dalton High School support the Windows platform. This is important to insure consistency among devices throughout the building. Students Without a Device All students at Dalton High School should have a device since they are assigned a device at the beginning of the school year. Although each student has a device, students will forget their devices at home from time to time. Our media center has additional Microsoft Surface tablets and laptops such as Chrome Books available to check out in order for all students to have a device.
- 2. Individual and Group Work While using our devices, we will work individually and in groups. Depending on the assignment, it is appropriate to work in groups or as individuals. The groups that we work in are developed on different student’s factors. These factors include behavior reports, literacy scores, standardized test scores, and in-class grades. Students are not randomly assigned to groups and they are not allowed to select their own groups. By grouping students by achievement factors, I am able to provide the necessary support and differentiate the instruction for the groups as needed.
