Clouds are not Linear: Unlock the full power of IT infrastructure with circul...Submer Immersion Cooling
Hello everybody and welcome to our new SlideShare post!
The slides you are seeing are taken from our 16th webinar: Clouds are not Linear: Unlock the full power of IT infrastructure with circular economic models (you can find the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ie7HFxuqyU&feature=youtu.be).
Technology drives humanity forward, solving problems and creating opportunity. But it also creates environmental and societal challenges that can’t be ignored. Tech innovation is driving rapid evolution, yet with each new generation, we generate massive streams of e-waste. More people are connected to more things with more devices than ever before, even so, half the world’s population still isn’t online. Open, hyperscale technology has enabled a handful of massive cloud service providers to achieve outsized returns, however, that same benefit has not trickled down. While these issues are daunting, circular economic models are poised to deliver major advances that offer real, immediate solutions. Let’s bring the dark underbelly issues of the tech industry into the light and take the opportunity at hand to come together to drive meaningful change that benefits all stakeholders.
Submer was pleased to welcome Ali Fenn, President of ITRenew. Together with Ali, we talked about different topics such as sustainability, the impact of tech and datacenter industry on the environment and the benefits of adopting circular economy models.:

Company executives in every industry need to be involved in their company's digital transformation. It is imperative that the focus be on improved business outcomes - not just technology implementations.
This is not something to be delegated to IT. Instead c-level execs need to think through how their organization needs to be organized and incented to ensure teams work together to create new value and value delivery systems through these digital transformations.
This presentation highlights key IoT trends, obstacles to adoption, digital transformation, critical success factors in IoT and next steps you can take as you start to develop and implement your IoT strategy. Emphasis is not just on technology but also how to monetize your offerings.

Marketing reimagined within the fourth industrial revolutionSherif El Touny
Technology trends is building up a new industrial revolution. Everything will change. Digital transformation will be part of every organization. The presentation speaks about IOT, AR, VR and many trends that will affect marketing and will take it to different dimensions
The Internet of Things (IoT) redefines the notion of connectivity; a transition to a vast, all-encompassing web of interconnected devices which uses data to measure, calculate, evaluate and learn. This network transcends the traditional comprehension of M2M in both capability and scale, linking together billions of devices and integrating everything from tiny remote beacons to large communications networks and energy infrastructure.
The potential of this vast connected network is staggering, and brings forth real capacity to help address some of our most crucial socio-economic concerns. Devices can utilise the data at their disposal to optimise efficiency and help reduce waste. Sensors can pre-empt mechanical breakdowns and determine the most safe and cost-effective time to schedule maintenance and repair. Energy systems can be transformed into smart grids, achieving improved efficiency by ensuring supply is regulated in accordance with actual real-time demand. It is this capacity to harness vast amounts of data to understand problems and identify solutions which underlines the true potential of IoT.
This conference will bring together technologists from industry, academia and government to explore the evolution of the Internet of Things. The programme will contextualise IoT within the current technology landscape and assess the implications for business and wider society. Delegates will hear from an impressive array of thought leaders and benefit from presentations which demonstrate the value of IoT in a practical context.
IoT Scotland will bring together 200 IT Heads and Business Leaders to learn, share and discuss, creating a unique opportunity for networking and knowledge exchange. The conference is organised by Scot-Tech Engagement and will be free* to attend for business leaders and IT personnel.

Global Situational Awareness of A.I. and where its headedvikram sood
You can see the future first in San Francisco.
Over the past year, the talk of the town has shifted from $10 billion compute clusters to $100 billion clusters to trillion-dollar clusters. Every six months another zero is added to the boardroom plans. Behind the scenes, there’s a fierce scramble to secure every power contract still available for the rest of the decade, every voltage transformer that can possibly be procured. American big business is gearing up to pour trillions of dollars into a long-unseen mobilization of American industrial might. By the end of the decade, American electricity production will have grown tens of percent; from the shale fields of Pennsylvania to the solar farms of Nevada, hundreds of millions of GPUs will hum.
The AGI race has begun. We are building machines that can think and reason. By 2025/26, these machines will outpace college graduates. By the end of the decade, they will be smarter than you or I; we will have superintelligence, in the true sense of the word. Along the way, national security forces not seen in half a century will be un-leashed, and before long, The Project will be on. If we’re lucky, we’ll be in an all-out race with the CCP; if we’re unlucky, an all-out war.
Everyone is now talking about AI, but few have the faintest glimmer of what is about to hit them. Nvidia analysts still think 2024 might be close to the peak. Mainstream pundits are stuck on the wilful blindness of “it’s just predicting the next word”. They see only hype and business-as-usual; at most they entertain another internet-scale technological change.
Before long, the world will wake up. But right now, there are perhaps a few hundred people, most of them in San Francisco and the AI labs, that have situational awareness. Through whatever peculiar forces of fate, I have found myself amongst them. A few years ago, these people were derided as crazy—but they trusted the trendlines, which allowed them to correctly predict the AI advances of the past few years. Whether these people are also right about the next few years remains to be seen. But these are very smart people—the smartest people I have ever met—and they are the ones building this technology. Perhaps they will be an odd footnote in history, or perhaps they will go down in history like Szilard and Oppenheimer and Teller. If they are seeing the future even close to correctly, we are in for a wild ride.
Let me tell you what we see.
Levelwise PageRank with Loop-Based Dead End Handling Strategy : SHORT REPORT ...Subhajit Sahu
Abstract — Levelwise PageRank is an alternative method of PageRank computation which decomposes the input graph into a directed acyclic block-graph of strongly connected components, and processes them in topological order, one level at a time. This enables calculation for ranks in a distributed fashion without per-iteration communication, unlike the standard method where all vertices are processed in each iteration. It however comes with a precondition of the absence of dead ends in the input graph. Here, the native non-distributed performance of Levelwise PageRank was compared against Monolithic PageRank on a CPU as well as a GPU. To ensure a fair comparison, Monolithic PageRank was also performed on a graph where vertices were split by components. Results indicate that Levelwise PageRank is about as fast as Monolithic PageRank on the CPU, but quite a bit slower on the GPU. Slowdown on the GPU is likely caused by a large submission of small workloads, and expected to be non-issue when the computation is performed on massive graphs.
Techniques to optimize the pagerank algorithm usually fall in two categories. One is to try reducing the work per iteration, and the other is to try reducing the number of iterations. These goals are often at odds with one another. Skipping computation on vertices which have already converged has the potential to save iteration time. Skipping in-identical vertices, with the same in-links, helps reduce duplicate computations and thus could help reduce iteration time. Road networks often have chains which can be short-circuited before pagerank computation to improve performance. Final ranks of chain nodes can be easily calculated. This could reduce both the iteration time, and the number of iterations. If a graph has no dangling nodes, pagerank of each strongly connected component can be computed in topological order. This could help reduce the iteration time, no. of iterations, and also enable multi-iteration concurrency in pagerank computation. The combination of all of the above methods is the STICD algorithm. [sticd] For dynamic graphs, unchanged components whose ranks are unaffected can be skipped altogether.
