This document discusses several findings related to plant viruses: 1. Fraenkel-Conrat showed in 1955-56 that complete Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV) particles can be reconstituted in vitro from isolated RNA and protein components, and that TMV RNA alone is infectious when introduced into plants. They also demonstrated "transcapsidation" where TMV RNA can be encapsidated by a closely-related virus's protein. 2.
