Keep an eye out for aftershocks.
Check yourself and people
around you for injuries and
administer first assistance.
Prioritize children, pregnant
women, people with disabilities,
and older folks. *
Evacuate to higher ground
promptly in coastal areas.
Check for dangerous spills and
flammable substances twice.
Stay away from structures until
further notice.
Examine for any water,
electrical, gas, or LPG leaks or
damages.
Using a battery-powered radio,
you can stay up to date.
If the signal is not down, notify
loved ones of your location and
state.

2. EARTHQUAKE
a quick and strong shaking
of the ground caused by
changes inside the earth's
crust or volcanic activity,
occasionally resulting in
significant destruction. An
earthquake is what happens
when two blocks of the
earth suddenly slip past one
another. The surface where
they slip is called the fault
or fault plane. Scientists
can't tell that an earthquake
is a foreshock until the
larger earthquake happens.
The largest, main
earthquake is called the
mainshock.
BEFORE
Familiarize yourself with the
placement of fire extinguishers,
medical kits, escape routes, and
the evacuation strategy for
your building.
Make any essential housing
repairs to avoid future damage.
Properly store hazardous
chemicals and flammable items.
Heavy furniture and hanging
things should be secured.
Prepare your emergency
supplies* (preferably one in
your house, car, and workplace)
Participate in earthquake
exercises at the office and in
the community.
Make a plan with your family to
meet at a certain spot in case
you become separated.

DURING
Keep your cool and stay still.
Duck, cover, and find a stable
place to hide (ex. desk or
table)
Avoid glass windows,
bookcases, and heavy or
hanging things.
Only exit the building via the
stairs after the shaking has
stopped. Elevators are not
permitted.
Evacuate to an open location
away from trees, power lines,
and landslide hazards.
If you're in a moving car, get
out and go to a safer location.
Avoid overpasses, come to a
leisurely halt in an open
place, and stay in your car.
