It discussed key ASEAN agreements related to tourism and services, including the ASEAN Framework Agreement on Services, ASEAN Vision 2020, and the ASEAN Tourism Agreement. It also explained the roles of the DOT as National Tourism Organization, TESDA as Tourism Professional Certification Board, and TIBFI as National Tourism Professional Board in implementing the MRA in the Philippines. The seminar also covered the ACCSTP, convergence activities between relevant agencies, and next steps to further the MRA.

I asked Mr. Reinhard the profile of the conference participants and noted that a number are Asians, however, there were a number of delegates from various parts of Europe and Australia. So, may I just give you a brief background of ASEAN, or the Association of Southeast Asian Countries. I checked the ASEM website and noted that ASEAN is a member of this organization as well. These were the 2 primary divisions, and each primary division was further segregated into 4 areas for the hotel services, 2 for the travel services, and these then were identified as the six secondary labor divisions. Each of the six secondary labor divisions were further refined to indicate job titles that would progress from the rank and file, to the supervisory to the management levels.
