Chad Braun
Design Engineer
KBD Technic
Design Engineer at KBD/Technic, Inc. with 1 year HVAC and 2 years industrial ventilation design experience,
including: testing, balancing, commissioning and troubleshooting. Design applications include combustible dust,
personnel respiratory health, nuisance dust/smoke/fume capture, building pressurization and clean room applications
in a wide variety of industries.
Representative Experience:
• Contributed to the Engineering, Design and Commissioning effort on multiple large dust collection
systems in aluminum recycling plant. Responsibilities included field measurements, development
of design basis, specification development (system and equipment) and environmental/regulatory
compliance (EPA, NFPA, IBC).
• Ongoing work at multiple aluminum recycling facilities on projects ranging from annual audit of
compliance for industrial ventilation systems to design specifications and analysis of existing
systems and hooding around the cold material handling, cold processing and melt processing.
• Project Manager for testing and balancing of ventilation systems serving processes such as;
aluminum recycling (hot and cold processes), automotive machining and chemical processing.
• Contributed to the audit and design of several multi dust collection system processes to meet the
codes and guidelines of the represented governing bodies.
• Field and Design Engineer for building pressurization and energy study of ventilation systems in an
engine parts machining facility including building assessment, measurement of flows both in duct
and between rooms and calculation of most efficient use of existing equipment to reach room
pressurization goals.
• Project Manager for a design project with several limiting factors that lead to the study and design
of air curtains used to contain a contaminant.
• Student – Two year attendee of American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists
(ACGIH) annual conference. Topics covered most facets of industrial ventilation systems, from
design of systems to cost estimating to troubleshooting and commissioning as well as a non standard
air course.
• In-field experience with stack and emissions testing, including auto manufacturers and paint
processing and coating lines.
• Assisted in the design and project oversight of HVAC systems on large scale projects including,
hospitals, banks, music venues and sports arenas.
Representative Capabilities:
Project Management, Complete System Design, Conceptual Design, Equipment Specifications,
Existing Ventilation System Troubleshooting, Dust Collection Hood Design, Commissioning/Start-
up and Testing/Balancing
