Brainstorming is a technique where a group generates ideas for a problem without initial judgement. It was popularized by Alex Osborn in 1953. There are individual and group brainstorming approaches. Group brainstorming leverages the full experience and creativity of team members to build on each other's ideas. Effective group brainstorming requires preparing the group, clearly presenting the problem, guiding discussion without criticism, and analyzing the generated ideas. Buzz sessions are similar but divide participants into small groups to simultaneously discuss an issue and share results. Both brainstorming and buzz sessions encourage participation, idea sharing, and learning from others.
