This document discusses Boolean operators - AND, OR, and NOT - that can be used to relate search terms in library databases. AND retrieves only articles containing all terms, narrowing the search. OR retrieves articles with any of the terms, broadening the search. NOT eliminates articles containing the second term. Nesting keywords/phrases in parentheses allows building complex searches using multiple operators. Quotation marks are used to search exact phrases rather than individual words. Examples are provided to illustrate the use of each operator.
