Guy Fawkes and his men attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605 by planting 36 barrels of gunpowder underneath. They wanted to kill King James I and cause an explosion. However, the plot failed because someone in Fawkes' group sent a letter to the King revealing the plans. Every year on November 5th in the United Kingdom, Bonfire Night is celebrated to commemorate this failed Gunpowder Plot, with bonfires, fireworks, and baked potatoes.

 Every year, on November 5th, Bonfire
Night is celebrated in England
 This is celebrated in order to remember
the attempt by Guy Fawkes and his men
to blow up the Houses of Parliament in
1605 in an event known as the
Gunpowder Plot.
 A law made after the attempt said on
5th November, we must remember this
failed attempt by celebrating bonfire

Plot?
 An attempt to blow up the Houses of
Parliament and an attempted
assasination of King James I
 Fawkes and his men planted 36 barrels
of gunpowder under the Houses of
Parliament in London in order to cause a
huge explosion and kill the King.
 This plan, however, failed.

6. Why did it fail?
 It failed because someone in Fawkes´group sent a
letter to the King describing all the plans.
 Guy Fawkes and his men were then arrested and
killed.
 Their heads were shown to all the citizens at the
Houses of Parliament

7. How do we celebrate Bonfire
Night?
 On Bonfire Night we remember what
Guy Fawkes did by building a bonfire
with a model of Guy Fawkes being put
on top.
