Miss Burma Symbolism
In the town of Burma, where militarism, violence and racial differences took place, two people from
different ethnicities discovered how to love even through the hardships of social acceptance and
language barriers. This couple was symbolic of the Burman society through the aspects of social
interactions and political revolution. The novel Miss Burma has a much deeper meaning to it than just
the human life story. Many would say the symbolism is a key feature in this novel and one must
interpret the provided information ever so carefully to execute the overall meaning. This isn t just
another forbidden romance novel like Romeo and Juliet, Charmaine s reasoning and meaning behind
her words provide that extra boost to grabbing the reader s attention. ... Show more content on

This conflict associates with the quote, It s not anyone else s country. (10) By this, Charmaine Craig is
presenting patriotism for their country and the impact that ll occur in their country. As stated in the
previous text, Burmans have a way of life that is culturally acceptable to marry someone of their alike
kind. To connect this occurrence with real life knowledge, this was also a worldwide issue back in
historic times. The love between a Burman lady, Khin, and a Jewish man, Benny, was politically
revolutionary in a way that altered the Burman views of society, culture, and beliefs. Referring back to
patriotism, the book s threshold starts off with the original Burman mindset if one is a Burman, they
will marry a Burman. This sets the tone for the exposition to allow change to occur throughout the
rising action, climax, and falling action. In these three categories, mini conflicts pop up here and there.
For example, in the rising action, when Khin and Benny commence to know each other, their language
barrier restricted particular interactions like conversation. Their talking was minimal, they had totally
different languages, and it eventually led to foreshadowing how their marriage followed through.
Although this was a huge conflict with them, they made things work and found their love for one
another to be an escape from loneliness and the bigger issue of

The Tucson Unified School District Essay
In recent years, the Arizona education department has been under fire after the Arizona legislature
passed a law banning Mexican American studies in schools (Planas, 2015, p. 1). Not only have the
schools in Arizona suffered from this discriminatory law, but also the advancement of Mexican
American students. This essay will briefly go over the Tucson Unified School District, the district in
the midst of the controversy, and will mainly focus on Pueblo Magnet High School, one of the schools
in the Tucson Unified School District that was greatly affected by the ethnic studies law.
Pueblo Magnet High School History According to the Pueblo Magnet High School webpage, the
school is located on 3500 South 12th Avenue in Tucson, Arizona, and opened in 1956 (Pueblo Magnet
High School Information, 2015, p. 1). Pueblo Magnet High School is a community school and
receives most its funding from the local government (Pueblo Magnet High School Information, 2015,
p. 1).
The school got its name from the Spanish word pequeño pueblo, meaning small town (Pueblo Magnet
High School Information, 2015, p. 1). The school s motto is ¡Sí Se Puede!, Yes, it can be done! , and
was created to remind their students that they can accomplish whatever they put their mind to (Pueblo
Magnet High School Information, 2015, p. 1). The school colors are Columbia Blue and Navy Blue
(Pueblo Magnet High School Information, 2015, p. 1).

Exploratory Study
As an undergraduate, I initially majored in exploratory studies so that I could better assess my skills
and interests to see which major would be best fit for me. It did not take long for me to decide on a
major of movement and sports science because of the focus on the biomechanics of the human body. I
did not know that I wanted to become a physician assistant right away. Initially I thought about
becoming a physical therapist or personal trainer, since I was interested in exercise. However, it didn t
take long for me to realize that my interests were more widespread than that. I was interested in the
diagnostic aspect of medicine, so I knew that I did not want to become a nurse. Of course, I
considered medical school but found that the PA

JIT Project
Making a list of the problems in this case will give us a better view of what is going wrong with the
JIT project.
1. Supplier management expert not working out
2. Stakeholder conflict about tasks execution
3. People complaining of lack of communication
4. IT overallocation for critical path tasks
5. Supplier management intro course prototype was not well received
6. Possibility of increased cost by seller of the course
As we can see, there are numerous issues with this project. Does this mean that the project is headed
for failure? I would argue not necessarily. Surely, if this list of issues is not addressed, the likelihood
of the project failure will skyrocket.
We can see that numbers 1 and 4 are HR issues. For #1, the PM and HR would need to sit down with
the expert and either fix the problem, or look for another expert. There are pro s and con s to both of
these options, so it would be preferrable to keep the expert but fix the problem. Hiring a new SME

In this case, the PM should again go through this list and address each one in their own way.
1. Fix the SME problem, ensuring that the project team and sponsor are aware of the issue
2. Explain to the stakeholders why the team has decided to execute tasks and the reasons for not doing
it another way. Stakeholders aren t the ones managing the project and need to trust in the project
manager and project team.
3. Figure out where the communication breakdown is an fix it. I would argue that in this case, there
appears to be a lack of communication on all fronts and that it is detrimental to a project of any type.
4. Whatever the fix is, it must be communicated to the project sponsor and stakeholders as to why
there is either an increase in budget or porject duration. I explained the issues

Economics Essay On Maggi
ECONOMICS PAPER 1
We all love Maggi, is it safe to eat Maggi? Will the government take actions to ban Maggi?
The Indian Central Government has declared a nationwide ban on Maggi due to excess of MSG and
lead in the product, which is manufactured by the company Nestle India. The ban has forced the
organization to cut its production of the product by one third as costumers discard the product amidst
health concerns. In brief, the supply is cut down due to the decrease in demand. Demand is the
willingness and the ability of the consumer to buy goods. Supply represents how much a market can
offer.
The sudden decrease in the demand of Maggi is because of higher level of MSG (Monosodium
Glutamate) and lead in it. Maggi noodles have been found to contain large quantities of MSG, which
is one of the leading causes of Obesity and Hypertension. In addition, Experts say that the ... Show

countries might prefer buying some other brand s products. In the long run, Nestle can also come up
with an alternative instant noodles with near about the same taste but with permissible amount of
MSG and lead. The sales could be near about the same but due to the impression created by the ban on
Maggi, people might not consider buying something from a defamed company.
To conclude, I d like to say that the ban on Maggi has both positive and negative impacts. Many
people will loose their jobs as a result of the ban, while the ban has made people concerned about their
health and also the ill effects of consuming packed food.
Well, it looks like we won t be getting Maggi in the near future but there is some hope that the ban on
this renowned product will be lifted given that Nestle complies with the rules and regulations of the

Rhetorical Strategies In The Antiwar Protest
The Antiwar Protest of the late 1950s and early 1960s was a successful protest movement that utilized
effective protest politics as defined by Zoe Trodd in her book, American Protest Literature. The
effectiveness of the protest was due to the movement causing the American public to challenge their
belief in the nation s leaders capacity to provide unquestionable truths and due to the protest placing a
colossal amount of powerful pressure on the nation s leaders.(Zimmerman) Many historians believe
the success of the protest led to a change in policy and a change in the American public s view of
politicians.(Zimmerman)
The Antiwar Protest began in the late 1950s and early 1960s.(Zimmerman) The protest effort was
centered around two groups: peace groups formed by left wing activists that opposed the Cold War
and America s interference in other countries and a group of students that felt the government was
high handed and unjust, Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). (Zimmerman) These groups had a
mission to educate the public about Vietnam and convert large amounts of Americans around to their
antiwar agenda.(Zimmerman) Early on, the groups formulated a plan to bring about the change they
sought by using the press, literature, music, and the public domain.(Zimmerman) The Antiwar Protest
used three rhetorical strategies: empathy, shock value, and symbolic actions.(Trodd) Of the three
strategies, the movement relied most heavily on shock value. Bill Zimmerman, an

Cambodian Genocide Essay
Cambodian Genocide Dead bodies everywhere you turn. The smell of gunpowder, filth, and death
choke your lungs. You wonder everyday whether it will be your last. All your body feels is pain; all
your heart feels is emptiness. One might think this is how life was for Jews during the Jewish
Holocaust. In reality, this is how life was for many Cambodians during the reign of Pol Pot between
1975 and 1979. This event, known to many as the Cambodian genocide, left a profound mark on the
world around us.
In the late 70 s, nearly 2 million Cambodians died of overwork, starvation, torture, and execution in
what became known as the Cambodian genocide. A group known as the Khmer Rouge took control of
the country in April 1975. Over the course of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People were ordered out their houses so that the Khmer Rouge could convert them into bases of
operation. Houses that weren t being used as bases were instead being used as make shift orphanages.
Besides having labor camps, Pol Pot used many prisons to get rid of many Cambodians. Out of 150
death camps spread across the country, the most famous is Tuol Sleng Prison, or S 21 as it is more
commonly referred to. There are only 7 known survivors out of an estimated 14,00 total prisoners. The
purpose for the prisons was to question and kill those that were opposed to the Khmer Rouge. Even
people from Western and European nationalities were kept as criminals. Before being placed in cells,
prisoners were photographed. They would then be tortured until a confession could be made about
whatever crime they were charged with. These confessions and photographs were then sent to High
ranking officials in the Khmer Rouge as a confirmation that the traitors were eliminated. Those that
were waiting for their time come had to endure many horrible things. Their legs were shackled onto
iron bars placed around the room. Permission from the guards was needed to do things like adjust
themselves while sleeping or even defecating into buckets that were provided for them. Bathing was
merely opening a hose on a room filled with prisoners. Babies that were brought in were killed either

The Tensions Of The Cold War And The Second World War
The two World Wars had brought detrimental effects to countries involved in the wars. Not only was
landmarks and buildings destroyed, but the World Wars also brought fear and insecurity within the
world. Tensions of the Cold War could be linked to before the World War I, where the ideology of
supreme power and maintaining control over another has been present for a long time. World War I
leads to the World War II, as allies rise to power to unstable Germany and his political party. The
Second World War was even more devastating and unstable, instilling greater fear and insecurity
within countries, especially on those with the lesser power. Many thought that with the defeat of
Germany, peace and unity would eventually keep up. However, insecurity has built up over time,
causing even allies to have insecurity with one another, which eventually lead to the Cold War. The
United States and the USSR were allies during the Second World War, but had been wary of one
another. This resulted in the Cold War, whereby each worshipped their nuclear weapons, increasing
their defense, in order to maintain the balance of power. The nuclear arms race during the Cold War
truly reflected the value of the security dilemma, and the distortion of the balance of power, which
could trigger war.
The strategy of block and balance in terms of alliance formation and alliance denial could be drawn as
a method of prevention. Major powers could form alliance in order to wage war with the rising power,

Argumentative Essay On Luxury Cars
For people who like power and luxury together, the Bentley Mulsanne was a great choice to have.
Bentley Motors produced it throughout the 80 s. It was named after the famous Le Mans race track
section. The Mulsane Straight was the fastest part of the famous track in the 1920 s. This car is
extremely versatile and therefore, owners want to use it for a multitude of reasons.
As with other Bentleys, it is important to keep the luxury car in a pristine condition. For this, you need
to replace the worn out parts and ensure that you do not run the vehicle with a damaged or low

If you re trying to sell your home, you know the importance of curb appeal. But, did you know that
you can improve your curb appeal without spending a lot of money? Here are six tips to help you add
pizzazz to your home without putting a strain on your budget:
Paint your front door. What does your front door look like right now? Does it look tired? Are there
markings on it? One of the easiest ways to add a little pop to your front entrance is to repaint your
front door. Maybe add a little burst of color while you re at it something like red, turquoise, or blue.

One of the most important things you can do to improve the curb appeal of your home is to clean up
your yard. Take the time to manicure your lawn and make it as green as possible (even if you have to
spray it green!). Trim the trees and bushes. Plant new flowers in your yard or even a tree (if feasible).
You may even consider installing flower boxes by your windows or in your front porch area.
Power wash your house. We don t realize how dirty our homes get over time. A good power wash will
take away the grime and allow your home s true color to shine through again. You can either rent a
power washer or hire someone to help you. Additionally, you should power wash your windows and
screens to make sure they are bright and clean as well.
Fix your driveway. When driving up to your home, one of the first things a buyer may see is your
driveway. What does it look like? Are there cracks in the concrete? Do you have trash cans in the
front? If so, do what you can to repair the cracks on your own, and simply move your trash cans to a
different location. You may even consider staining your driveway to give it a little extra

Guilt is an unnecessary war with self. ( Adam John)
What is guilt?
Some say it s bothered conscience , Some describe it as a feeling of culpability for offences. but it is

the guilt changed Amir as a boy and made him mentally caged. Throughout the novel , Amir is
plagued with guilt. He constantly thinks about his actions, is bothered by them but does not seem to
know how to resolve the situation , how to stop the battle going within him, until Rahim Khan gives
him a way, a way to be good again. First we observe that Amir seems to be guilty as a child as he

Essay on The Soviet Union and the Legacy of Communist Rule
The Soviet Union and the Legacy of Communist Rule
The December of 1991 marked the end of the Soviet Union and with it, an entire era. Like the
February Revolution of 1917 that ended tsardom, the events leading up to August 1991 took place in
rapid succession, with both spontaneity and, to some degree, retrospective inevitability. To understand
the demise of Soviet Union is to understand the communist party state system itself. Although the
particular happenings of the Gorbachev years undoubtedly accelerated its ruin, there existed
fundamental flaws within the Soviet system that would be had been proven ultimately fatal. The
USSR became a past chapter of history because it was impossible to significantly reform the

Mikhail Gorbachev, the new General Secretariat in 1985, seemed to represent this new generation of
power. After two decades of decaying social and economical conditions, it was clear that restructuring
of governmental policies were in dire need. As it was the only legal party allowed in the USSR until
the repeal of Article Six of the Constitution in 1990, the Communist Party, although conceptualized as
a homogenous dictating organization, had long harbored many variants of ideologies. The leadership
of Gorbachev was an accumulated manifestation of the reformist wing within the ruling elites. Such a
wing had always existed despite hard partiinost, and to Strayer they were the alternative tradition
which saw Leninism and democracy, the plan and the market, as compatible with each other (Strayer,
87). Gorbachev was a student of Khrushchev s thaw who moved much more skillfully than his
ideological predecessor at pushing for real reforms reforms that eventually destroyed the system they
were supposed to save in a great stroke of irony.
However, it is true that Gorbachev did not fully comprehend the significance nor foresee the ultimate
effect of his reforms. An evolutionary leader who saw the pressing flaws of the old system, he

The Man Who Quit Money By Mark Sundeen
Born this way Selfishness is defined as the stinginess resulting from a concern of your own welfare
and the disregard of others. Selfishness, once passing a certain level, is seen as a character flaw by
many people. Where does selfishness come from? Is it a trait in which as humans we pick up over
time, or is it an animalistic trait in which we are born with and have no control over? Author Mark
Sundeen tells us the story of Daniel Suelo, in the book The Man Who Quit Money. Daniel Suelo was a
mid aged man, who decided to drop everything and live on his own without the use of money; he
would no longer live the typical American lifestyle and survive strictly on the kindness of others and

I didn t truly understand it at the time, but as I grow older and mature I am beginning to understand
more and more. Also, in that same conversation, my father told me about some of the people he works

when the attention is on them, or they will do charity events when the media is involved. Looking
back at it, this is a very selfish idea. When do we hit that point in our life where we are so selfish that
we can not help others; is it a conscious decision or are we just not aware of our actions? I have seen
this same of idea of selfishness in my own experiences. I went to a very wealthy private school, with
many students coming very wealthy families. Often these families would donate money to the school,
but in return they expected a plaque or they expected something to be named after them, some kind of
recognition. Some people will say this is not selfish because they are giving back; however, others will
say this is a selfish action because they are only giving looking for a return. People often jump to the
conclusion that Daniel Suelo is very unselfish because he doesn t have any money, and because he
will work jobs for free. In my eyes Daniel Suelo can be seen as a selfish person, not with money
because he

The Number Three In Dante s Inferno
Symbolism can be utilized in diverse manners but remains a prominent aspect of life within most
religions throughout the world. Out of ample differential symbolic numbers, Dante showcases the
number three throughout the allegorical tale of his journey through hell. Dante bases Inferno upon the
Christian idea of hell by using the religiously symbolic number three within his choice of poetic
structure, the monsters displayed, and the associations of the number three in the Bible.
Dante s poetic masterpiece The Divine Comedy is composed of three individual cántica: Inferno,
Purgatorio, and Paradiso. The three works include 33 cantos in each poem, with the exception of
Inferno, totaling 100 cantos, which is the square of 10; 10 is the perfect number, for it is composed
solely of the square of the Trinity plus 1, which represents the Unity of God. (McAllister xxii). The

Three beasts face against Dante within the beginning of the narrative poem: The Leopard, The Lion,
and The She Wolf of Incontinence. Alongside to meeting the three animals, Dante also metaphorically
encounters the three main kinds of sin committed within the Christian world: Incontinence, violence
and fraud. Each sin corresponds according to a sin in the Bible and matches with each of the three
beasts. Once Dante follows away from the three monsters and towards a pathway through hell, he
encounters a ravenous three headed dog of Hell who characterizes as monstrous Cerebus, the ravening
beast (Alighieri 44 45). Dante s usage of the number three within his choice of monsters furthermore
portrays the reoccurring usage of the number in Inferno. In addition, Dante encounters Satan whom

Jane E. Wilson And Fanny Fern
Pride is a broad character trait that has both positives and negatives associated with it. The way one
goes about confronting the hurdles in their life determines how others will perceive them. The wrong
kind of pride can have serious negative ramifications on one s life. While not a hard and fast rule,
often characters of lower class tend to be written to show positive pride and work through their
struggles, while the people of a higher class show a negative pride that limits the before mentioned
characters associated with a lower class. Through their writing, Harriet E. Wilson and Fanny Fern
exhibit a myriad of levels of pride exemplified by various characters, in their books, Our Nig or,
Sketches from the Life of a Free Black and Ruth Hall: A Domestic Tale of the Present Time,
respectively. In Harriet E. Wilson s book, Our Nig, there are two opposing types of pride that are
present throughout the book. The positive character of Frado, the young mulatto, is much different
than that of Mrs. Bellmont s negative pride, however the two are dependent upon each other. As Mrs.
Bellmont is a privileged, white woman, Frado is a helpless, indentured servant to the Bellmont family.
It is this whiteness, this superiority over the colored, which fuels Mrs. Bellmont s hate and abuse
toward young Frado. In the historical timeframe, even though Frado is considered a free black, she
owns no property. As Philip Gould states in his discussion of class, property is both evidence

Essay about Social Security Reform
Social Security Reform
Nearly every American sees the letters FICA at least once a week. While rushing out of the office or
place of employment and scurrying to the bank to cash a well deserved paycheck, the average
American scowls at the roughly 8% the FICA tax inevitably consumes. Yet, ask any American what
they plan to use to enjoy life after they retire and the answer is generally uniform: my social security
checks . This answer has been repeated for over sixty five years. Since President Franklin D.
Roosevelt s New Deal, Americans have been receiving returned taxes for their retirement through a
public policy known as the Old Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI), or better known as
Social Security. Noted as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, the report will deliver an optimal legislative environment for the reconfiguration of what has
been the most stable government program in America history.
The History of Social Security Derived from Chancellor Otto Von Bismarck s Prussian Plan for
German workers, President Franklin D. Roosevelt developed a plan to provide pensions for elderly
Americans in 1935. After nearly six years of depression, the United States was ravaged with an
unemployment rate of 25% and many others had lost everything they owned due to the collapse of the
internal banking market. The future looked grim for most Americans because even those with jobs had
barely any purchasing power due to enormous interest rates and high inflation. Riding high on his
New Deal, President Roosevelt studied how Bismarck s plan had worked so well in Germany and
sought to develop a similar plan for America citizens. On August 14, 1935, President Roosevelt
succeeded in developing a national insurance plan and signed the Social Security Act into law (Sharp:
389). The Social Security Act of 1935 was set up to pay monthly benefits to retired workers starting at
the age of sixty five. However, before the Act went into effect in 1939, two new categories of
recipients expanded the law. Dependants of the retiree were given benefits when the retiree passed
away. Second, family

The Blind Side Movie Analysis Essay
Fatlinda Osmani The Blind Side The Blind Side was a true movie about a homeless boy that had a
rough life until the Tuohy family took him in. As a child, he never had the chances that he did when
living with the Tuohy family. They then adopted the boy and became his legal guardian. After that
everything got better for Michael. I would recommend this to a friend because of all the different
important problems in this movie. Race plays a big part in this movie. Michael is an African American
boy, while his new family is white. Not only are their races different but their social class is different.
Michael was raised in the hood, while the Tuohy family was raised in a nice neighborhood. Examples
of these in the movie were when in the beginning Michael s friend s father drives them through an
affluent neighborhood to high school. He looks around like he has never seen anything like it before.
When he does get to school, he is not welcomed nicely from his white classmates. Another example
was when his adoptive mother goes to look for him when he runs away. She goes to check in Hurt
Village, which was where his biological mother used to live. Her encounter with Alton, which was an
African American, was a big cultural difference. She tells him not to step on the other side of town,
which shows how separated they are. Listening was a big thing in this film. There were plenty of
scenes about listening. The one that stands out the most was when Michaels adoptive mom sits down

Authoritarian Parents And Parenting Styles
Parents use to blabber to their children about following the house rules without explaining to them
why they should follow. They set standards in their child for them to be disciplined in a way parents
would look up to. Spencer Rathus (2014), authoritarian parents have strict guidelines about what is
right and what is wrong and they demand that rules are rules and should be obeyed without explaining
why its implemented. Authoritarian parents always want to be obeyed by their children. If their
children did not obey them, they will receive yelling or punishments. Children coming from
authoritarian parenting are more likely to have low self esteem and low self worth. There are some
instances that these parents that use authoritarian parenting style would put their child on shame if
what they want is not fulfilled. Authoritarian parents are strict and don t usually give their child a
freedom to choose. Kids are forced by their parents. There are students nowadays that are failing when
it comes to their studies. They are not happy to what they are doing because it s not them who chose
for their courses or field that they want to study. Under this parenting style, parents are not very
affectionate to their children. They think that being strict will keep their child disciplines but perhaps
might only lead to rebellion. Thus, authoritarian parents are affecting not just the behavior of the
student but their grades also. It is a purely strict form of

Brazil s recent global presence came only after multiple internal and external economic crises. In

Analysis Of The Wedding At Cana
The artwork by Paolo Veronese were known for being created on large platforms and were centered on
religious topics. One notable works of his was The Wedding at Cana. This piece is a depiction of Jesus
first miracle as he turned water into wine for a wedding celebration. Based in Venice, Veronese s life
was heavily influenced by the Christian culture and was esteemed by the community and church
officials for his artistic abilities. As Veronese painted in the Mannerist style, The Wedding at Cana was
an asymmetrical painting with elegant principles. Also, Veronese heavily used vibrant colors to show
the richness of the subjects and to create light. This painting has lived through several interesting eras
and owners. Wars and political overlords dominated the geography of this painting and even damaged
the canvas. Since Veronese s style and talents were sought after, his work, religious and secular, was
mostly commissioned by patrons of the Venetian community. Veronese was a painter fond of the
Mannerist style in the High Renaissance era. As he aged, art and religion were important aspects of
Veronese s life. He fully embraced the traditions and regulations of his God and was even
commissioned because of his talent and devotion to the church. While a teenager, many church
officials in his area asked Veronese to paint important works of art in their churches. The Giustiniania
family esteemed Veronese so highly that they wanted him to paint inside of their Roman Catholic

Release of Aspirin from a Polymer Matrix
Experiment 1: Release of Aspirin from a Polymer Matrix Summary Firstly, aspirin was weigh to 0.25g
which was then dissolved in 100cm3 of distilled water by heating to 80°C using a hotplate. 2.0g of
agar was added while stirring and was heated till dispersed, giving almost clear solution. The
temperature was control so as not to overheat the agar. The agar was left to cool in an ice bath. Using a
hollow cylinder, the agar was cut to approximately 4.0g (the exact weight of the agar was recorded). It
was then transferred to a 250cm3 beaker filled with 50cm3 of distilled water and a conductivity probe
was placed into the beaker to measure the conductance (Conductivity, Gt, S/cm) against time
(measured every 1 2 minutes for the interval of 30 minutes). To ensure consistency, the solution was
swirl for approximately 10 seconds before the minute was up. Next, the conductance of aqueous
solution with only aspirin present was calculated by getting the amount of aspirin through the formula
(Y=X/102g aspirin) and it was dissolved into 50cm3 of water. The conductance was measured in order
to obtain the Control (Ga). From there, the fractions of Aspirin released at any given time (Qt) were
measured thus providing the following of the release of the Aspirin by plotting the graph of Log Qt

Further, in 1998, the HC in Garcia affirmed its earlier decision in Amadio and further stated that the
court would only allow the bank the enforcement of the guarantee and mortgage only if the bank has:
(a) explained the importance of the terms to the weaker party with special disability; or
(b) informed the weaker party with special disabilities to seek appropriate independent professional or
legal advice before signing the contracts.
In Alan and Bridget s case, Bruno the finance manager acting for EW Bank, only told
Alan and Bridget to take a few days to read through the documents, think it over and ask for
professional advice from someone else if necessary these wordings from
Bruno are not sufficient!! Bruno did not explain to Alan and Bridget the significance of the terms (as
required in Garcia s case) nor did he tell them to go and seek independent legal advice (as required in
Garcia s case). According to the principles in
Garcia, it is unlikely that the court would be sympathetic to EW Bank s defence that
Bruno had done his best in advising Alan and Bridget to seek professional advice , as the mere words
of professional advice were not sufficient according to the decision in Garcia.

Decisions in Amadio and Garcia would both support Alan and Bridget for a declaration that the

Essay on Ordinary Men
There are no extraordinary men... just extraordinary circumstances that ordinary men are faced to deal
with (William Halsey). The same can be said about volatile men. This is the quote Christopher R.
Browning thought of when he named this book. The men of the 101st battalion were rarely faced with
decisions. Even if it had been proposed by Trapp the morning of Jozefow that any of the older men
who did not feel up to the task that lay before them could step out (Browning, chapter 7, pg. 57), he
didn t actually allow them any time to truly think about it. He brought it up moments before they were
about to go out to the slaughter. They were blind sided and the men who didn t want to risk the future
of their jobs as policemen or the men ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We can see how distraught he is during the first massacre but how does the climate of the war change
him? Even in the very same chapter, we see him change when he turns away from the Jews who tried
to kiss his hands for saving them. But it s in chapter 11 we truly see how the climate of war has made
him adapt. When faced with a killing quota when stationed in Talcyn, Trapp decides to kill the Jewish
population instead of the Poles. Seemingly, this is because they re more expendable. But to me, it
seems as if he s gotten used to killing Jews. Poles can still be looked at as people for him. He hasn t
distanced himself from them like he has been forced to with Jews. The very obvious rules of the
German side of this war is that Jews aren t necessary. So when faced with the decision to kill Poles or
Jews, Trapp created his own rule that Jews are more expendable then Poles. The man who once
weeped for the Jews no longer had any inhibitions about shooting more then enough Jews to meet his
quota (Browning, chapter 11, pg. 102). Major Trapp, to me, was the epitome of the ordinary men who
didn t enjoy senseless murder evolving into a man who became accustomed to senseless murder. But
idea of the general populace also shifted to aclimatize itself to the rules of this war. In the beginning,
the Jozefow matter was simply not discussed (Browning, chapter 7, pg 69.) But in the end, what made
it easier for them was

Jealousy In Shakespeare s Othello
In William Shakespeare s tragedy Othello , jealousy is conveyed by the handkerchief, a symbol that
adds to the importance of the work all in all.
William Shakespeare utilizes images as a part of Othello to speak to numerous things, in the endless
cluster of images utilized all through the play the handkerchief is one of the principle objects used to
mean desire and envy. The cloth contains an alternate significance relying upon the character in the
play. The handkerchief was the first gift Othello provided for Desdemona, he symbolizes it as proof of
her unfaithfulness. For instance, in act III scene IV Othello states I have a salt and sorry rheum
affronts me; Lend me thy handkerchief , however despite the fact that he gave her the handkerchief as
a blessing prior she didn t have it with her. Othello reacts with That is an issue and continues to

Downsizing Strategies and Its Effects
Introduction
Companies that faced a decrease in sales, market share, or profits in the 1980s and early 1990s began
to realize that their human resources were expensive and underutilized. To become more competitive,
companies made strategic decision to gradually lower their payroll numbers. (Anthony, Kacmar
Perrewe al, 2002:434) Downsizing has become a critical issue around the world. Downsizing and
mass lay offs are happening not only on US companies but also organizations in the entire industrial
world. The number of organizations and jobs affected by downsizing has been staggering. In 1993, in
an unending quest for lower costs, higher productivity, and fatter profits, American firms announced

Such corporate measures will be related to profitability, productivity, investment returns, customer

negative impact on those who survive as employees in the organization, they can only serve to
highlight the presence of psychological and behavioural consequences for survivors. (Thornhill,
Saunders, 1998:273 4)
Why do firm downsize?
A diversity of reasons can be lead to the decision of downsize. Organization and employees are being
force to adapt to an environment characterized by augmented competition, government deregulation
and technological evolution. (Internet Material #7) (Refer to Appendix 1 for most common reasons of
restructuring) It can increase productivity, the value of the companies¡¯ shares and the profits by
reducing the number of employees per unit. Companies downsize to cut cost, improve efficiency and
to maintain a profit level acceptable to their shareholders. Other reasons include reorganization,
minimizing bureaucracy, eliminating excess, business downturns, mergers, and acquisitions.

  • 2. Miss Burma Symbolism In the town of Burma, where militarism, violence and racial differences took place, two people from different ethnicities discovered how to love even through the hardships of social acceptance and language barriers. This couple was symbolic of the Burman society through the aspects of social interactions and political revolution. The novel Miss Burma has a much deeper meaning to it than just the human life story. Many would say the symbolism is a key feature in this novel and one must interpret the provided information ever so carefully to execute the overall meaning. This isn t just another forbidden romance novel like Romeo and Juliet, Charmaine s reasoning and meaning behind her words provide that extra boost to grabbing the reader s attention. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This conflict associates with the quote, It s not anyone else s country. (10) By this, Charmaine Craig is presenting patriotism for their country and the impact that ll occur in their country. As stated in the previous text, Burmans have a way of life that is culturally acceptable to marry someone of their alike kind. To connect this occurrence with real life knowledge, this was also a worldwide issue back in historic times. The love between a Burman lady, Khin, and a Jewish man, Benny, was politically revolutionary in a way that altered the Burman views of society, culture, and beliefs. Referring back to patriotism, the book s threshold starts off with the original Burman mindset if one is a Burman, they will marry a Burman. This sets the tone for the exposition to allow change to occur throughout the rising action, climax, and falling action. In these three categories, mini conflicts pop up here and there. For example, in the rising action, when Khin and Benny commence to know each other, their language barrier restricted particular interactions like conversation. Their talking was minimal, they had totally different languages, and it eventually led to foreshadowing how their marriage followed through. Although this was a huge conflict with them, they made things work and found their love for one another to be an escape from loneliness and the bigger issue of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Tucson Unified School District Essay In recent years, the Arizona education department has been under fire after the Arizona legislature passed a law banning Mexican American studies in schools (Planas, 2015, p. 1). Not only have the schools in Arizona suffered from this discriminatory law, but also the advancement of Mexican American students. This essay will briefly go over the Tucson Unified School District, the district in the midst of the controversy, and will mainly focus on Pueblo Magnet High School, one of the schools in the Tucson Unified School District that was greatly affected by the ethnic studies law. Pueblo Magnet High School History According to the Pueblo Magnet High School webpage, the school is located on 3500 South 12th Avenue in Tucson, Arizona, and opened in 1956 (Pueblo Magnet High School Information, 2015, p. 1). Pueblo Magnet High School is a community school and receives most its funding from the local government (Pueblo Magnet High School Information, 2015, p. 1). The school got its name from the Spanish word pequeño pueblo, meaning small town (Pueblo Magnet High School Information, 2015, p. 1). The school s motto is ¡Sí Se Puede!, Yes, it can be done! , and was created to remind their students that they can accomplish whatever they put their mind to (Pueblo Magnet High School Information, 2015, p. 1). The school colors are Columbia Blue and Navy Blue (Pueblo Magnet High School Information, 2015, p. 1). According to the article Pueblo High Students Pick a New Mascot, Alexis ... It did not take long for me to decide on a major of movement and sports science because of the focus on the biomechanics of the human body. I did not know that I wanted to become a physician assistant right away. Initially I thought about becoming a physical therapist or personal trainer, since I was interested in exercise. However, it didn t take long for me to realize that my interests were more widespread than that. • 5. JIT Project Making a list of the problems in this case will give us a better view of what is going wrong with the JIT project. 1. Supplier management expert not working out 2. Stakeholder conflict about tasks execution 3. People complaining of lack of communication 4. IT overallocation for critical path tasks 5. Supplier management intro course prototype was not well received 6. Possibility of increased cost by seller of the course As we can see, there are numerous issues with this project. Does this mean that the project is headed for failure? I would argue not necessarily. Surely, if this list of issues is not addressed, the likelihood of the project failure will skyrocket. We can see that numbers 1 and 4 are HR issues. For #1, the PM and HR would need to sit down with the expert and either fix the problem, or look for another expert. There are pro s and con s to both of these options, so it would be preferrable to keep the expert but fix the problem. Hiring a new SME would cost additional time and money to ... Fix the SME problem, ensuring that the project team and sponsor are aware of the issue 2. Stakeholders aren t the ones managing the project and need to trust in the project manager and project team. 3. Figure out where the communication breakdown is an fix it. I would argue that in this case, there appears to be a lack of communication on all fronts and that it is detrimental to a project of any type. 4. Whatever the fix is, it must be communicated to the project sponsor and stakeholders as to why there is either an increase in budget or porject duration. I explained the issues ... • 6. Economics Essay On Maggi ECONOMICS PAPER 1 We all love Maggi, is it safe to eat Maggi? Will the government take actions to ban Maggi? The Indian Central Government has declared a nationwide ban on Maggi due to excess of MSG and lead in the product, which is manufactured by the company Nestle India. The ban has forced the organization to cut its production of the product by one third as costumers discard the product amidst health concerns. In brief, the supply is cut down due to the decrease in demand. Demand is the willingness and the ability of the consumer to buy goods. Supply represents how much a market can offer. The sudden decrease in the demand of Maggi is because of higher level of MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) and lead in it. Maggi noodles have been found to contain large quantities of MSG, which is one of the leading causes of Obesity and Hypertension. In addition, Experts say that the ... The sales could be near about the same but due to the impression created by the ban on Maggi, people might not consider buying something from a defamed company. To conclude, I d like to say that the ban on Maggi has both positive and negative impacts. Many people will loose their jobs as a result of the ban, while the ban has made people concerned about their health and also the ill effects of consuming packed food. Well, it looks like we won t be getting Maggi in the near future but there is some hope that the ban on this renowned product will be lifted given that Nestle complies with the rules and regulations of the ... • 7. Rhetorical Strategies In The Antiwar Protest The Antiwar Protest of the late 1950s and early 1960s was a successful protest movement that utilized effective protest politics as defined by Zoe Trodd in her book, American Protest Literature. The effectiveness of the protest was due to the movement causing the American public to challenge their belief in the nation s leaders capacity to provide unquestionable truths and due to the protest placing a colossal amount of powerful pressure on the nation s leaders.(Zimmerman) Many historians believe the success of the protest led to a change in policy and a change in the American public s view of politicians.(Zimmerman) The Antiwar Protest began in the late 1950s and early 1960s.(Zimmerman) The protest effort was centered around two groups: peace groups formed by left wing activists that opposed the Cold War and America s interference in other countries and a group of students that felt the government was high handed and unjust, Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). (Zimmerman) These groups had a mission to educate the public about Vietnam and convert large amounts of Americans around to their antiwar agenda.(Zimmerman) Early on, the groups formulated a plan to bring about the change they sought by using the press, literature, music, and the public domain.(Zimmerman) The Antiwar Protest used three rhetorical strategies: empathy, shock value, and symbolic actions.(Trodd) Of the three strategies, the movement relied most heavily on shock value. All your body feels is pain; all your heart feels is emptiness. One might think this is how life was for Jews during the Jewish Holocaust. In reality, this is how life was for many Cambodians during the reign of Pol Pot between 1975 and 1979. This event, known to many as the Cambodian genocide, left a profound mark on the world around us. People were ordered out their houses so that the Khmer Rouge could convert them into bases of operation. Houses that weren t being used as bases were instead being used as make shift orphanages. Besides having labor camps, Pol Pot used many prisons to get rid of many Cambodians. Out of 150 death camps spread across the country, the most famous is Tuol Sleng Prison, or S 21 as it is more commonly referred to. There are only 7 known survivors out of an estimated 14,00 total prisoners. The purpose for the prisons was to question and kill those that were opposed to the Khmer Rouge. Even people from Western and European nationalities were kept as criminals. Before being placed in cells, prisoners were photographed. They would then be tortured until a confession could be made about whatever crime they were charged with. These confessions and photographs were then sent to High ranking officials in the Khmer Rouge as a confirmation that the traitors were eliminated. Those that were waiting for their time come had to endure many horrible things. Their legs were shackled onto iron bars placed around the room. Permission from the guards was needed to do things like adjust themselves while sleeping or even defecating into buckets that were provided for them. Social And Political Philosophy Exam Alex Ristaino Social and Political Philosophy Exam #2 Hobbes: Mmm that organic wine and tofu was delicious, got me a little intoxicated though, but hey lets talk some philosophy, mainly about that social contract theory. You know, that agreement among the members of a society to cooperate for social benefits by sacrificing some individual freedom for state protection. Rousseau: Oh no Hobbes: What you haven t heard of it? Locke: No, we know about it, you just get a little hostile when you drink. Hobbes: Its not my fault that all the people who make up the state are corrupt. But you could imagine living in a state of nature? Locke: In my opinion, if people were living in a society where there was no government, society would be intolerable to live in. People could do whatever they wanted. Although there would be no government, this doesn t mean the state would be free of morality. Hobbes: I agree with what you on one thing and that is that people could do whatever they want. However in this very hypothetical state, I think people would be living in constant fear. Locke: I think this state is a reality. It is often asked as a a mighty objection, where are, or ever were, there any men in such a state of nature? To which it may suffice as an answer present, that since all princes and rulers of independent governments all through the world are in a state of nature, it is plain the world never was, nor never will be without numbers of men in that state ... Ruggiero Communications Department University of Texas at El Paso Some mass communications scholars have contended that uses and gratifications is not a rigorous social science theory. In this article, I argue just the opposite, and any attempt to speculate on the future direction of mass communication theory must seriously include the uses and gratifications approach. Wimmer and Dominick (1994) proposed that U G began in the 1940s when researchers became interested in why audiences engaged in various forms of media behavior, such as listening to the radio or reading the newspaper. Still others credit the U G perspective with Schramm s (1949) immediate reward and delayed reward model of media gratifications (Dozier Rice, 1984). Regardless, early U G studies were primarily descriptive, seeking to classify the responses of audience members into meaningful categories (Berelson, Lazarsfeld, McPhee, 1954; Katz Lazarsfeld, 1955; Lazarsfeld, Berelson, Gaudet, 1948; Merton, 1949). Most scholars agree that early research had little theoretical coherence and was primarily behaviorist and individualist in its methodological tendencies (McQuail, 1994). The researchers shared a qualitative approach by attempting to group gratifi USES AND GRATIFICATIONS THEORY 5 cation statements into labeled categories, largely ignoring their frequency distribution in the population. • 11. The Tensions Of The Cold War And The Second World War The two World Wars had brought detrimental effects to countries involved in the wars. Not only was landmarks and buildings destroyed, but the World Wars also brought fear and insecurity within the world. Tensions of the Cold War could be linked to before the World War I, where the ideology of supreme power and maintaining control over another has been present for a long time. World War I leads to the World War II, as allies rise to power to unstable Germany and his political party. The Second World War was even more devastating and unstable, instilling greater fear and insecurity within countries, especially on those with the lesser power. Many thought that with the defeat of Germany, peace and unity would eventually keep up. However, insecurity has built up over time, causing even allies to have insecurity with one another, which eventually lead to the Cold War. The United States and the USSR were allies during the Second World War, but had been wary of one another. This resulted in the Cold War, whereby each worshipped their nuclear weapons, increasing their defense, in order to maintain the balance of power. The nuclear arms race during the Cold War truly reflected the value of the security dilemma, and the distortion of the balance of power, which could trigger war. The strategy of block and balance in terms of alliance formation and alliance denial could be drawn as a method of prevention. Major powers could form alliance in order to wage war with the rising power, or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not only does the conflict between the households portray no viable reason, but it troubles those involved, such as the Montague, Friar Lawrence. Lord Capulet and Lord Montague may contain mindsets strictly based off the feud between them. Nevertheless, as elders, they display unawareness of the troubles the rivalry has brought to their peers as well as the disturbance it precipitates for thoughts of impartiality from youths. Moreover, the audience can infer how if these characters consider the thoughtless purpose of the conflict, problems would not have surfaced when Friar Lawrence marries Romeo and Juliet, where his only motive composes of the elimination of the Capulet Montague strife. • 17. Essay on The Soviet Union and the Legacy of Communist Rule The Soviet Union and the Legacy of Communist Rule The December of 1991 marked the end of the Soviet Union and with it, an entire era. Like the February Revolution of 1917 that ended tsardom, the events leading up to August 1991 took place in rapid succession, with both spontaneity and, to some degree, retrospective inevitability. To understand the demise of Soviet Union is to understand the communist party state system itself. Mikhail Gorbachev, the new General Secretariat in 1985, seemed to represent this new generation of power. After two decades of decaying social and economical conditions, it was clear that restructuring of governmental policies were in dire need. As it was the only legal party allowed in the USSR until the repeal of Article Six of the Constitution in 1990, the Communist Party, although conceptualized as a homogenous dictating organization, had long harbored many variants of ideologies. The leadership of Gorbachev was an accumulated manifestation of the reformist wing within the ruling elites. Such a wing had always existed despite hard partiinost, and to Strayer they were the alternative tradition which saw Leninism and democracy, the plan and the market, as compatible with each other (Strayer, 87). Gorbachev was a student of Khrushchev s thaw who moved much more skillfully than his ideological predecessor at pushing for real reforms reforms that eventually destroyed the system they were supposed to save in a great stroke of irony. However, it is true that Gorbachev did not fully comprehend the significance nor foresee the ultimate effect of his reforms. Selfishness, once passing a certain level, is seen as a character flaw by many people. Where does selfishness come from? Is it a trait in which as humans we pick up over time, or is it an animalistic trait in which we are born with and have no control over? Author Mark Sundeen tells us the story of Daniel Suelo, in the book The Man Who Quit Money. Daniel Suelo was a mid aged man, who decided to drop everything and live on his own without the use of money; he would no longer live the typical American lifestyle and survive strictly on the kindness of others and the leftovers he could find in dumpsters. ... They will donate money when the attention is on them, or they will do charity events when the media is involved. Looking back at it, this is a very selfish idea. When do we hit that point in our life where we are so selfish that we can not help others; is it a conscious decision or are we just not aware of our actions? I have seen this same of idea of selfishness in my own experiences. I went to a very wealthy private school, with many students coming very wealthy families. Often these families would donate money to the school, but in return they expected a plaque or they expected something to be named after them, some kind of recognition. Some people will say this is not selfish because they are giving back; however, others will say this is a selfish action because they are only giving looking for a return. Out of ample differential symbolic numbers, Dante showcases the number three throughout the allegorical tale of his journey through hell. Dante bases Inferno upon the Christian idea of hell by using the religiously symbolic number three within his choice of poetic structure, the monsters displayed, and the associations of the number three in the Bible. Dante s poetic masterpiece The Divine Comedy is composed of three individual cántica: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. The three works include 33 cantos in each poem, with the exception of Inferno, totaling 100 cantos, which is the square of 10; 10 is the perfect number, for it is composed solely of the square of the Trinity plus 1, which represents the Unity of God. The way one goes about confronting the hurdles in their life determines how others will perceive them. The wrong kind of pride can have serious negative ramifications on one s life. While not a hard and fast rule, often characters of lower class tend to be written to show positive pride and work through their struggles, while the people of a higher class show a negative pride that limits the before mentioned characters associated with a lower class. Through their writing, Harriet E. Wilson and Fanny Fern exhibit a myriad of levels of pride exemplified by various characters, in their books, Our Nig or, Sketches from the Life of a Free Black and Ruth Hall: A Domestic Tale of the Present Time, respectively. In Harriet E. Wilson s book, Our Nig, there are two opposing types of pride that are present throughout the book. The positive character of Frado, the young mulatto, is much different than that of Mrs. Bellmont s negative pride, however the two are dependent upon each other. As Mrs. Bellmont is a privileged, white woman, Frado is a helpless, indentured servant to the Bellmont family. It is this whiteness, this superiority over the colored, which fuels Mrs. Bellmont s hate and abuse toward young Frado. Finally, the report will deliver an optimal legislative environment for the reconfiguration of what has been the most stable government program in America history. The History of Social Security Derived from Chancellor Otto Von Bismarck s Prussian Plan for German workers, President Franklin D. Roosevelt developed a plan to provide pensions for elderly Americans in 1935. After nearly six years of depression, the United States was ravaged with an unemployment rate of 25% and many others had lost everything they owned due to the collapse of the internal banking market. The future looked grim for most Americans because even those with jobs had barely any purchasing power due to enormous interest rates and high inflation. Riding high on his New Deal, President Roosevelt studied how Bismarck s plan had worked so well in Germany and sought to develop a similar plan for America citizens. On August 14, 1935, President Roosevelt succeeded in developing a national insurance plan and signed the Social Security Act into law (Sharp: 389). As a child, he never had the chances that he did when living with the Tuohy family. They then adopted the boy and became his legal guardian. After that everything got better for Michael. I would recommend this to a friend because of all the different important problems in this movie. Race plays a big part in this movie. Michael is an African American boy, while his new family is white. Not only are their races different but their social class is different. Michael was raised in the hood, while the Tuohy family was raised in a nice neighborhood. Examples of these in the movie were when in the beginning Michael s friend s father drives them through an affluent neighborhood to high school. He looks around like he has never seen anything like it before. When he does get to school, he is not welcomed nicely from his white classmates. Another example was when his adoptive mother goes to look for him when he runs away. She goes to check in Hurt Village, which was where his biological mother used to live. Her encounter with Alton, which was an African American, was a big cultural difference. She tells him not to step on the other side of town, which shows how separated they are. The temperature was control so as not to overheat the agar. The agar was left to cool in an ice bath. Using a hollow cylinder, the agar was cut to approximately 4.0g (the exact weight of the agar was recorded). It was then transferred to a 250cm3 beaker filled with 50cm3 of distilled water and a conductivity probe was placed into the beaker to measure the conductance (Conductivity, Gt, S/cm) against time (measured every 1 2 minutes for the interval of 30 minutes). To ensure consistency, the solution was swirl for approximately 10 seconds before the minute was up. Next, the conductance of aqueous solution with only aspirin present was calculated by getting the amount of aspirin through the formula (Y=X/102g aspirin) and it was dissolved into 50cm3 of water. The conductance was measured in order to obtain the Control (Ga). When faced with a killing quota when stationed in Talcyn, Trapp decides to kill the Jewish population instead of the Poles. Seemingly, this is because they re more expendable.
