This document outlines the biosecurity facilities and procedures at Sadiq Poultry Farm Mandra-03 Unit. 2. BIOSECURITY
 Biosecurity (Bio refers to life and security refers to protection) is the safety of living
birds/animals.
 Definition:
• Sanitary and hygienic measures which can minimize the chances of entry and spread of
pathogens and effects of disease causing agents in shed is called biosecurity.
 Principles:
• Hygienic conditions in poultry shed are achieved through implementation of correct
biosecurity programme.

3. COMPONENTS OF BIOSECURITY
• Biosecurity programme has 3 major components:
 Farm Isolation:
Farm should be isolated from other poultry and livestock facilities and residential areas.
 Farm Design:
Farm should be designed to minimize traffic flow and to construct the rodent proof.
 Disinfection:
Before entry of farm, all materials, equipments, workers and peoples should be disinfected
with disinfectants by different methods according to Company’s Standard Operating
Procedures.

4. FACILITIES FOR BIOSECURITY AT SADIQ
POULTRY FARM MANDRA-03 UNIT
• Following facilities are available at Sadiq Poultry Farm Mandra-03 Unit:
 Vehicle Disinfection Dip
 Main Gate Shower
 Foot Dip at Main Gate
 Fumigation Box
 Provision of Slippers at Main Gate
 Washing of hands
 Bathing and Changing Facilities
 Provision of Slippers at Office and Colony Area
 Provision of Uniforms in Bathing and Changing facilities
 Provision of Slippers at Shed Area
 Provision of Slippers in Shed
 Foot Dip at entrance door of Shed
 Fences
 Dead Bird Disposal

5. VEHICLE DISINFECTION DIP
• Dip wheels of all vehicles entering or existing from poultry farm must pass through vehicle
disinfection dip.
• Length of vehicle disinfection dip is 25 ft and width is 15 ft.

6. MAIN GATE SHOWER
• All vehicles should be sprayed with disinfectant with the help of main gate shower system.

7. MAIN GATE SHOWER
 Dimension:
• Dimension of main gate shower system has following:
Number of pipes = 4
Height of pipes = 20 ft
Nozzle to Nozzles distance (Vehicle Dip nozzles and Pipe nozzles) = 2 ft
Right side pipe to left side pipe distance = 13 ft
Pipe to pipe distance on both sides (right and left) = 9 ft
Side path Area = 3 ft
Total nozzles = 30

8. FOOT DIP AT MAIN GATE OF SHED
• At the main gate, any temporary or permanent arrangement for disinfection of shoes that
may have been contaminated by germs or debris materials.
• Dimension of foot dip is 2 ft length, 1 ft width and 6-8 inch height.
• During entering in shed shoes should be disinfected by foot dip with disinfectant solution.

9. FUMIGATION BOX
• At main gate, Fumigation box is present.
• Dimension of fumigation box is 5 ft length, 3 ft width and 4 ft height.
• Before entrance of shed all things (Mobiles, Watches, Bags, Shoes, Equipments and
clothes) are fumigated except eatable things.

10. PROVISION OF SLIPPERS AT MAIN GATE
• Pink colour slippers provide to any guests, supervisors, visitors, workers and doctors at
main gate entrance.

11. WASHING OF HANDS
• At main gate, washing of hands with detol soap on
washbasin.

12. BATHING & CHANGING FACILITIES
• Provide farm uniform to any workers, doctors, supervisors, visitors, electrical department
supervisors and guests in bathroom.
• Every person must bath then wear uniform and enter to farm office area.

13. PROVISION OF SLIPPERS AT OFFICE OR
COLONY AREA
• Provide Pink colour slippers in office or colony area for every person.
• Put off your shoes/slippers at mark able place then wear new slipper.

14. PROVISION OF UNIFORMS IN BATHING &
CHANGING FACILITIES
• Provide white colour uniforms to the doctors and dark blue colour uniforms to the visitors
and workers etc.

15. PROVISION OF SLIPPERS AT SHED AREA
• Provide Orange colour slippers at entrance of shed and shed area for every workers and
doctors.
• Put off your slippers at mark able place then wear new slipper.

16. PROVISION OF SLIPPERS IN SHED
• Provide Green colour slippers or boots at entrance of shed and in shed for every workers
and doctors.
• Put off your slippers at mark able place then wear new slipper.

17. FOOT DIP AT ENTRANCE DOOR OF SHED
• At entrance in shed, slippers are dip in disinfectant solution.
• Dimension of foot dip is 2 ft length and width is 1 ft.

18. FENCES ALL AROUND SHED
• High fences are installed all around the boundary area.
• Fences prevent peoples and animals entering in shed area.
• A height of fences are 10-12 ft.
• Wire netting fences are installed at boundary wall.

19. DEAD BIRD DISPOSAL
• Dead bird disposals are away from shed about 300 ft.
• Dead birds are packed in plastic bags or empty feed bags then dispose of dead birds in dead
bird disposal.
• Depth of dead bird disposal is 25 ft and width is 18 ft.
