Biometric Data:
Biometric data refers to records used to uniquely identify people, such as: fingerprints,
Retina scan (eye scan), and Digital signature. Biometrics is the name given to the various
methods of capturing, storing, and utilizing this data. Biometric data is used for the
identification of individuals for the purposes of controlling access, and various applications
for preventing crime.
Retina Scan:
A retinal scan is a biometric technique that uses the unique patterns on a
person's retina blood vessels. Retinal scanners are typically used for authentication and
identification purposes.
Advantages:
 Extremely Low occurrence of false Data.
 Highly reliable because no two people have the same retinal pattern.
 Speedy results: Identity is verified very quickly.
Disadvantages:
 Measurement accuracy can be affected by a disease such as cataracts.
 Measurement accuracy can also be affected by severe astigmatism.
 It is apparent to some people that scanning procedure is persistent.
 Not very user friendly.
 Subject being scanned must be close to the camera optics.
 High equipment cost.
