Disney Growth Essay

Disney Growth Worth of the Disney Company in 2014 was reported to be as follows: 85 Billion
in assets; Capitalized at $179.5 Billion; Net worth $48.18 Billion. At the end of 2015, revenue of
the Disney Company worldwide was $52.47 Billion. These figures appear staggering for a
company that was started in 1923 in the rear of a real estate office in Los Angeles; however, it is
imperative for the Disney Company, both a content provider and content creator, to consider a
Grand Strategy in 2017. (Statista) Growth by diversification could be catastrophic for Disney.

It is said that Nickelodeon alone drove the price of Viacom stock to $60.00. This does not even
consider the worth of the MTV network. Nickelodeon would give Disney growth in the coveted
teen market. Many of the Nickelodeon celebrities have considerable net worth. Nick Cannon
soon found his home with Nickelodeon as a rich rapper. With a net worth of $20 Million,
Cannon is considered the richest rapper associated with Nickelodeon. Since the contracts are with
Nickelodeon for these celebrities, it might be too risky for Disney to grow by acquisition.
Depending upon how the contracts are written, Disney could spend a lot of money to have a great
network without celebrities. (The Richest) Since ?Cash Cows? do not aggressively pursue
opportunities, protecting themselves from threats of takeovers and acquisition, employee morale is
low because when the company does not pursue opportunities, personal growth can be stunted as
well. Disney is proud of their reputation of satisfied and wealthy employees. ?Cash Cows? such as

Effects Of Social Media Addiction
Forest park students slowly wonder through the halls trying to make it to their next class. They are
oblivious to their surroundings because of their eyes glued to their social media apps on their
phones. It almost looks like they are zombies feeding their social media brains with their phones.
Every day students show the addiction to social media. Social media addiction is when people
cannot go a long time without going on social media. An example of social media addiction
would be a kid constantly checking their snapchat every few minutes for long periods of time.
Social media addictions is a very important and serious topic, which also comes with its effects on
people. Some include, health risks to the brain, social issues, and behavioral issues.
You may be surprised to know that according to a 2012 study posted on the national institutes
website, Internet Addiction disorder (IAD) ruins lives by causing neurological complications,
physiological disturbances, and social problems. This statistic shows that there are truly some bad
health issues that can come from feeding this to your brain. Just by going on your phone to look
at social media can cause very bad health problems, which seems like a small thing to do but that
sat shows it really does have a big effect.
To find out more about this, a reporter interviewed Kris Iwinski who is a 8th grade students mom
and has had lots of experience with her son being on social media. The first question she was asked

Evolution Of The Modern Day Human Essay
The modern day human has not existed for very long, in fact its one of the recent species to
populate the Earth. Before modern day humans or Homo sapiens sapiens as we are scientifically
known as, existed a similar yet less developed Homo genus named Homo erectus/ Homo ergaster.
Evidence of these species dates back to over 1.9 million years ago and up to as recently as 70,000
years ago in which the evidence can be found in Africa, Europe and Asia. In this essay I will firstly
provide a general timeline, providing key dates and phases of evolution. I will then discuss my
findings from the research I have collected as well as information provided by expert insights and
discoveries. I will explain the cause for the expansion from Africa to Europe and Asia and lastly I
will elaborate on the established branches of Homo erectusand how the different Homo genus came
to exist.
Timeline
The Homo genus dates back almost three million years. The Homo habilis species was the first in
the Homo genus and is believed to have initially developed 2.8 mya (million years ago) in East
Africa before becoming extinct 1.5 mya. This occurred during the Lower Paleolithic period (2.7
mya 200 kya) in which the very first stone tools were created and mastered named the Oldowan
stone industry. H. habilis were the first fully bipedial species which allowed them to travel further
than their quadrupedial ancestors. Having covered most of Africa, the H. habilis was then able to
manufacture stone tool

Technology And The Modern Society
Technology plays a major role in everyday life for the vast majority of people. From things as
simple as cooking meals and cleaning the house, to things as complex as putting a satellite into
space or performing brain surgery, technology affects nearly every facet of life. This equipment is
the modern society s playground. Technology has affected the movement of people throughout the
world, the spending of their leisure time and the ways people communicate with one another.
Advances in technology allow for the transportation of people and goods to happen at blinding
speeds. History has proven that the time taken to travel between two points has decreased as the
travel technology has increased. Take Nate Damm, a recent TEDx presenter, for example. Recently
Damm walked across the United States, accomplishing the task in nearly 7.5 months (Damm,
2012). As a point of reference, the Lewis and Clark Expedition lasted 3 years, from 1803 to
1806, and started half way across the United States in St. Louis, Missouri. Only 200 years ago in
America s infancy, Damm, Lewis and Clark s walking from place to place would be one of a few
options available to early settlers. Moving forward to the 1960s, the modern automobile shortens
the travel time for this trek across America. MapQuest, a free online mapping and directions
service, states that a route between Boston, Massachusetts, and San Francisco, California, takes
about 48 hours to drive. Later in the same decade as the

The Nature Of Auditors Professional Scepticism
Introduction
Professional scepticism (PS) is critically important to the way in which auditing is conducted. It is
also an essential component of a qualified auditor. The prior literature (Hurtt et al, 2013) argued
that PS can be influenced by various factors, which arises the question regarding how PS should be
positively perceived and effectively conducted in practices. Professional scepticism is defined as an
attitude combined with a questioning mindset and a critical way of thinking towards auditing
practices (Nelson, 2009). However, there is a divergence among practitioners and academia of
how PS should be perceived and practiced. Neutral approach was suggested by early auditing
standards while presumptive doubt is growing under ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also widely asserted that skeptical mindset is critical to performing a rigorous and prudent
auditing with due professional care (Holm and Zaman, 2012). In addition, the extent to which PS
should be applied is vital for an auditor since it impacts both the accuracy and efficiency. Having
too little of it will bias the accuracy while too much will lead to extra human effort and cost. The
effective balance between risk and efficiency is the essence. In practice, there should be a limit on
the level of details an auditor can possibly reach and on the extent the auditing should be conducted
to.
Neutrality is the essence of unbiased scepticism. According to CICA handbook (2003), an auditor is
required to perform with a questioning attitude, having in mind that there may be the existence of
financial misstatement. It also indicated that being skeptical requires critical thinking upon
evidence obtained through the auditing process, and is alert for questionable documents regarding
the entity representations. However, it does not mean an auditor should be obsessively suspicious
about anything. Instead, it is suggested to have the capability to reach the balance without
speculated dishonesty or unquestioned trust. An objective evaluation should always be guaranteed,
and a neutral auditor should always present a suspension of judgement until having evidence or
proving the otherwise.
The above perspectives were supported by various literatures. One

they have in a supposedly anti evo era and yet no one seems to care remind me again how everyone
hates evos. Luke even offers to buy Claire 2.0 a gunbecause what s more safe then handing a
deadly weapon to someone that s never used one? Luckily she is smart enough to reject the offer
because she has powers. Again where are the evo glasses? Where are the cops that are taking
bounty for evos? Where is anyone of consequence to round up the evos? I have no clue why they
introduced aspects of the show that only affected people selectively. Yet people talking

mainly because Luke isn t a hero and him killing phoebe to avenge his son would be an
acceptable reason. Phoebe is clearly evil and has no remorse about her deed but she is smart

Instead of killing them Claire 2.0 decides they should come along because you of course need

Reflection On Light And How Light Bendss In The Whitehouse
This following science lab reflection is about light and how it bends while it travels from one
thing to another. Our main goal for this lab was to discover how light bends. But the problem is
that we have to break in and get past laser security in the Whitehouse. I hypothesised that, if we can
bend the lightaround us then we will be able to get past the laser security. If we shine water at the
light then the light will bend better and we will be able to get past the laser security and into the
Whitehouse. In this lab we used the mediums: air, water, and glass. We also used prisms, such as a
circle, square, and triangle. These materials all helped us figure out, which was the best to bend the
light with. What we did to find these results was through a computer simulation to test the way the
light bends with others objects and prisms. This is a short summary about what we did and used for
this Science Lab. When conducting this Lab we found many interesting findings. A few findings
were that when the light from the air hit the water the angle of refractiondecreased to 22o compared
to the angle of incident/reflectionof 30o. The opposite occurred when the light from the water hit
the air. The angle of refraction increased drastically to 42o when still compared at 30o angle of
incident/reflection. With the light from air to the glass, the angle of refraction decreased a lot to
19o with the 30o angle of reflection/incident. Things I can say after these results are that the

Role Playing In MBI Behavior
At the same time, one of the more interesting sources of MBI behavior results from a form of role
playing that is commonly known as pseudologia fantastica, which refers to when an individual
plays out a series of dramatic by telling lies or stories that exasperate the truth of their given
situation in order to fulfill some kind of personal fantasy. The concept comes from an idea that
some individuals receive pleasure from acting out imaginary roles through their Internet persona.
According to Friedman (2016), most objectifications of pseudologia fantastica in MBI involve
situations where dramatic lies are told by patients about their achievements, social connections,
exploits, and so on (p. 226). This probably because the offender believes

United States Health Care System
TITLE OF PAPER
For many years the condition of the United States health care system has been a hot topic for
debate. Some would like to believe that the U.S has the best health care system in the world, but
unfortunately that may not be the truth. In 2000 The World Health Organization (WHO) released a
world health report. The report ranked the overall health system performance of 191 countries; the
United States was ranked at 37 out of the 191. With out of control costs, highly inequitable
coverage and comparatively low health outcomes, the US healthcare system has failed to provide
efficient, dependable coverage for the population as a whole as compared to most European and
developed Asian systems (Blank, 2012). In other developed ... Show more content on

citizens that a new plan to reform health care had to be devised.
On March 23, 2010 congress approved and President Obama signed The Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act (PPACA) into law. The PPACA is more commonly known as just the
Affordable Care Act (ACA) or negatively as Obamacare. In order for the ACA to be passed, the
President had to appease the different political parties. As a result, the ACA is not entirely an
original idea. Some of the main provisions already had the support of various political parties,
because they had been introduced by past presidents and political parties in their health reform
plans over the past few decades. Some examples include: both Nixon and Carter had employer
mandates; Bush had a version of the individual mandate, both Bush and Clinton proposed similar
ideas to the insurance marketplace, among a few others. The ACA is similar to universal health care;
the objective is to ensure that the US citizens have access to affordable quality healthcare, instead
of a free market for all like in other countries it is still for profit. The Affordable Care Act increases
access to care, makes health insurance more affordable, strengthens Medicare and ensures that
Americans have more rights and protections (U.S. Department of

Racial Identity And Sexual Orientation
The statement racial identity and sexual orientation entrap and define us is limiting in that it
pidgeon holes a great variety of types into simplified categories. This essay will explore racial
identity and sexual orientation and exemplify meaning through the use of Joseph Conrad s Heart of
Darkness and Christos Tsiolkas Loaded. Although they hail from different times and cultures, the
characters Marlow and Ari display similarities in behaviours in as such they put themselves in
perilous situations and surround themselves with untrustworthy associates .
One reason why I do not agree with the statement racial identity and sexual orientation entrap and
define us is an individual s self image and circumstance. For example, Marlow lived in the days of
Imperialism. Instead of seeing themselves as interlopers in a new country the Europeans felt a
sense of entitlement. He does not relate to the stereotype and describes the men he works with as
[...] not much account really. They were no colonists; their administration was merely a squeeze,
and nothing more, I suspect. They were conquerors, and for that you only want brute force nothing
to boast of, when you have it, since your strength is just an accident arising from the weakness of
others (Conrad 10).
Marlow is a migrant to Africa; he is the other however it is the African s that are portrayed to the
reader as the other through Marlow s observations of the stations and river. Initially, Marlow s

wolves in the Northern Canadian Arctic as Mowat conducts his research on these wolves, he
discovers that these wolves are different from what he believed at first, not just seeing them as cold

keep the Caribou population strong by only huntingthe sick or weak members of the herd, in this

How much power and liberty did the constitution give to the people?
The constitution is the document that has framed and shaped the United States from inception. It is
the document that is defended by all new presidents and also the document which affords the
citizens of the United States freedoms and rights that cannot be removed. In its drafting it shaped
the formation of a new country and a new style of governance. It is a bottom up as opposed to
established ways of government which are top down . However for all its virtues the Constitution is

It cannot be thought of, as a great democratic institution representing the peoples will.
At the time of drafting the constitution, the rules on the senate were to be two senators for each
state, which were appointed by the state legislatures, rather than directly elected by the people.
The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two senators from each state, chosen by
the legislature thereof . This is somewhat of an oxymoron for a country that states we hold these
truths to be self evident. That all men are created equal . The power in the Senate does not lie
with the people, but of the people they elected for their State legislatures. There is no direct link
here between the people and congress, the power is appointed rather like the house of Lords in
the mother country, which was meant to be a bridge between the monarch and the house of
commons, if you will a middle ground between two opposing factions. The way the Senate was
comprised is of a political appointee system, which inevitably favours the wealthy and influential
elite s. It is the power of the people by proxy, which is hardly democratic.

Over The Counter Medications Of Maca Root
Maca root is coming into its own with regards to a possible alternative to over the counter
medications. In the United States, maca root is a supplement as opposed to an actual medicine, so
you should research anything with maca to examine its uses, benefits and possible side effects.
Here?s your complete guide to taking maca root pills, including maca supplement dosage, how
much maca to take and any possible side effects to this superfood.
What Is Maca Root?
What precisely is maca root? Maca root comes from the Peruvian Andes Mountain region. Native
people began cultivating maca root around 2,000 years ago. Natives used maca root as a vegetable
and as a tea like drink, but also as a medicine.
As a plant, maca root is red, purple, yellow, black and cream colored. The bulb like part that
stores the food reaches to 4 to 6 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. Maca root seems to only grow in
high altitudes, and Peruvians have become experts at growing, cultivating and using this plant as a
staple food.
Although ancient Peruvians have known about this plant for some time, maca root is just now
gaining prominence as a superfood. Maca root, at least in the United States, usually comes in a
powdered or capsule form. There are several uses for this versatile plant as a supplement.
Benefits of Maca Root
Although the U.S. Food and Drug Administration does not regulate or evaluate maca root
supplements, there is some evidence that maca root is an aphrodisiac or a fertility enhancer.

Canterbury Tales And Decameron Attitude Towards Religion
The end of the Middle Ages in Europe marked a great shift in the mindset of the people regarding
the Church. The Church had always been a prominent aspect of the people s everyday life, but the
Church lost some of its credit as new ideas and beliefs arose. Because of various catastrophic
events, people also went to extremes to justify their behavior and find forgiveness for their sins.
Literary works such as Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales and Boccaccio s The Decameron
show this shift in attitude through tales and stories. The many events that took place between the
late 1300s and early 1400s explain resulting shift in attitude toward the Church.
There were several reasons as to why this change in attitude toward the Church took place. A major
reason why the Church lost its credit was due to internal troubles and the Great Schism. The
religious power went from a central authority to various regional leaders. As corruption was on the
rise, people began questioning the legitimacy of the Pope and ... Show more content on

The Bubonic Plague or Black Death began killing masses of people across the world. The
increase in trade had facilitated the spread of the disease. The crowded, unsanitary cities were

men hide out as not to get the bubonic plague and end up telling stories to one another. Panic and
chaos spread throughout the land as people thought that this was God s punishment to humans
for all of their sins. People began to cleanse themselves and strengthen their religious beliefs.
They believed that God would punish them for any wrong doings. In the pardoner s tale in The
Canterbury Tales, three men want to steal gold so they each trick each other into having the
greater share. In the end all three men die because they were all willing to kill one another for
riches. The belief was that God sees all and will punish those who do

How The Big Oil Companies Have Kept Substitutions At Bay...

The Musical Aspects Of Frank Sinatra
Chapter Two: Sinatra as a Cultural Icon In the first chapter, this essay primarily addressed the
musical aspects of Frank Sinatra. This section will examine his celebrity image, and how it
reflected the values of popular culture that spanned his career. Sinatra was the first musician,
more specifically a singer, to achieve this kind of fame and notoriety among his audiences.
Intentional or not, he started a trend in popular music that would later be replicated by many
artists, including Elvis, Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, and Barbara Streisand. One
interesting facet about Sinatra is that he was not born into stardom, nor groomed for success. As
mentioned above, Sinatra was born of two middle class Italian immigrants. Deeply rooted in
American culture is the concept of the American Dream , espousing the country as a land of
opportunity where anything is possible. Michael Frontani cites author Richard Weiss, in
describing this ideal: The belief that all men, in accordance with certain rules, but exclusively by
their own efforts, can make of their lives what they will... The pursuit of the American Dream
involves a long road to financial independence for the individual, achieved by resilience and hard
work. Whether or not the dream could be easily attainable by anyone is up for debate, as Sinatra
faced racism and adversity early on in his quest for fame. Coming from a disadvantaged Italian
family, Frontani recalls how his mother, Dolly, wanted him to seek out

Sears, the icon, and leading retailer for generations has marked the lives of the consumers.
Founded in 1886 by Richard Sears, the company originally provided catalog sales of gold filled

from Indiana. Both introduced the company s mail order catalog of watches and jewelry services
in 1893. Over the years, Sears has expanded its operations by launching major national long lasting

garden equipment, and work wear, followed by DieHard, a brand of automotive battery.
Sears has been a disruptive innovator in the retail industry for over 100 years; however, by early

Devaluation Indigenous Women
deliberate devaluation of Indigenous women occurred in 1968 when an Indigenous man
convicted of rape on a reservation would not be penalized as severely if their victim was
Indigenous as well. Decades of colonization and oppression has left a devastating impact on the
entirety of society. The devaluation of Indigenous women was not only a problem of the past, but is
still relevant today. The patriarchy that oppresses all women is addressed by feminists that demand
a chance in a male dominated world. In Indigenous communities, some find it hard to grasp the
concept of equality as women held integral roles. It is important to note how colonization has
impacted the feminist perspective of Indigenous women before colonization. Women were respected

Individualism And Society In Anthem By Ayn Rand
Society in a Different World
Have you ever thought of living in a place where everyone is the same and no one is different?
Boring, right. In the book Anthem, Ayn Rand fully expresses her thoughts about the role of
individualism and society. Anthem is a dystopian novella, written in 1937 and published in
England in 1938. The book is about a society, in which there is no I and only we is allowed. The
dictatorship of Anthem tries to keep the members of society brainwashed by focusing on the
importance of obedience and equality which justifies restricting people from pursuing individual
freedom and limiting their knowledge and vocabulary. Anthem is a critique of the political
movements of Fascism and Communism in Europe during the 1930 s ... Show more content on

You shall do that which the Council of Vocations shall prescribe for you. (Rand 22). In the book,
Rand describes how the Council keeps its subjects manipulated, maintaining obedience through
their strict teaching. The main character Equality 7 2521 demonstrates how people are not
allowed to follow their own path and are victims of a repressive system, which rewards
complacency and discourages freethinking. In this society everyone must be just like everyone
else. According to Equality 7 2521, individuals have no identity of their own. In this society no
one is allowed to choose what they do with their lives, or even to think about what they want to
do in the future. The Council of Vocations punishes Equality 7 2521 for being different, which
means being intelligent and loving science. Instead of being made a scholar, which is what he
really wants, Equality 7 2521 is made a street sweeper. The irony is that Equality 7 2521 would
better serve society as a scholar because of his great intellectual gifts, but that would make
individuals capable of distinguishing and separating themselves from the Council. In another
instance, Rand emphasizes the idea of control over knowledge and vocabulary since We are one
in all and all in one. There are no men but only the great WE, One, indivisible and forever (Rand
19). All names are

Flood Myth of Epic of Gilgamesh and Book of Genesis of...
A Comparison of the Flood of Gilgamesh and the Bible
People grow up listening to the story of Noah and the flood. They remember the length of the flood,
the dove, and the rainbow very vividly. However, most people do not realize that the story is told
throughout many different cultures and with accounts older than GenesisВ№s version in the Bible.
Although each of the accounts tells of the flood, there are many variations to the story. One such
story can be found in the Epic of Gilgamesh. Although the Epic of Gilgamesh is similar to the
Genesis version, there are some differences in the days leading to, during, and after the flood.

After 7 days, NoahВ№s flood began.
During the flood there are several similarities between the two stories. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, the
flood lasted six days and nights. The whole world looked like an ocean except for the top of a
mountain where the boat ultimately landed. In Genesis, Віthe rain was upon the earth forty days
and forty nightsВІ (p. 69). The water covered the entire earth including the mountains for 150 days.
Eventually the ark rested on a mountaintop, but the mountaintops were not shown for three months.
To test to see if the waters had receded, Utnapishtim waited for six days to see if his boat would
hold onto the mountaintop. Then on the seventh day, Utnapishtim released a dove from a hatch in
the boat. The dove came back. Then he released a swallow that also came back. Lastly, he Віloosed
a raven...and she did not come backВІ (p. 38). After the flood ended, Noah also released birds.
First, he sent a raven, which flew around until the water dried up. Then he sent a dove, which
came back. Noah waited seven days and released it again. This time the dove came back with an
olive leaf. Noah waited seven more days; he released the dove again, which did not return.
After testing the earth to see if it was dry, both men disembarked and began their new lives.
Utnapishtim made sacrifices to his gods on the mountaintop. Noah also made sacrifices to his god.

Classifying Sports Fans Research Paper
According to the world s largest search engine, Google, seventy two percent of 18 to 29 year
olds, 64% of 30 to 49 year olds, and 58% of those aged 50 and older in the United States admit to
being sports fans. Out of these millions of fans, most of them fall into certain categories. There are
typically three ways to classify sports fans: the fans that think they are the coach, the dedicated
fans, and the bandwagon fans. The first type of sports fan typically found is the fan that thinks
they are the coach. Have you ever been to a footballgame, basketball game, or even soccer game,

These fans usually change the team they root for one or two times a years, usually around the
time the national championship, world series, superbowl, or NBA finals are played. These fans
just like to follow the crowd. Any new team that is winning this fan will claim they are a fan of
them. However, when that team starts to lose or another team comes up and starts winning they
are suddenly a fan of the new team. One good example is the Golden State Warriors. Three years
ago, before they had arguably the best point guard in the NBA, there was not hardly any
outspoken Golden State fans. Yet now that they are the defending NBA champions and have two
time MVP winning point guard, they have fans everywhere. Not to say all of them, but many of
Golden States fans are just rooting for the team because of how good they are now.
It is hard to argue that the majority of sports sports fans do not fall into the category of either the
fans that think they are the coach, the dedicated fans, or the bandwagon fans. Although every
person is different, and every sports fan is different, it is not difficult to identify that they can be
grouped very similarly into one of these categories. With a few exceptions, it is safe to say that
most fans would be easy to place into one of these three

materially equipped for what they would encounter in Vietnam, or upon their return to a place

One third of the soldiers were drafted, and two thirds of the soldiers were volunteers ( Vietnam

soldiers had arrived in Vietnam with equipment that wasn t well suited to deal with the brutal
jungle climates of Vietnam. Soldiers, before being shipped out, received standard gear: steel
helmets, cotton uniforms, later nylon uniforms, M 16 rifles, anti personnel fragmentation

Howard Zinn Argumentative Analysis
Howard Zinn argues that the state has three main purposes. They are to settle upper class disputes
peacefully, control lower class rebellion, and adopt policies that would further the long range
stability of the system .(Zinn Online). In the case of putting down and controlling a lower class
rebellion is very prevalent in the Anti Renters rebellion. After the economic crisis of 1837 many
tenants, who were now unemployed, owed money to the land lords who owned massive amounts of
land. Many of the tenants came together out of fear of being evicted, and were against the
monopolization of the land. When these poor tenants began to rebel, the state had to use force to
suppress them, The governor sent three hundred troops in, declaring a state of rebellion existed, and
soon almost a hundred Anti Renters... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Just recently on April 2nd, the Supreme Court of the United States turned down the overall cap on
monetary political donations. This is a classic case of the state adopting policies to ensure the
stability of the system. Coping the scheme of citizens united the Supreme Court in a 5 4 decision
allows an individual to donate as much money as they please to federal candidates in a two year
election cycle. Although federal law bans direct contributions to campaigners by corporations and
business, super pacs allow money to get to the politicians without direct contact. But this law still
allows wealthy individuals to support the candidates that will represent their needs and wants in the
national government. This creates an unfair system aimed at helping the elites because they will
have more money to donate therefore will have more of the campaigners attention. Justice Breyer
realized the importance of this decision being turned down and was recorded writing Where
enough money calls the tune, he wrote, the general public will not be heard. (New York Times).

The Effects Of Music On The Human Brain
There are many ways that music can influence the human brain. One of the many astonishing
qualities that the human brain can accomplish is the ability to retain information for a long and
short period of time. The part of the brain where retention of memory takes place is located in the
hypothalamus, located in the temporal lobe. The parts that these parts of the brainare where memory
is stored. The ability to remember many of the memories that human are able to retain come in
different ways. Some com and stay in the human mind naturally. Another way that humans are able
to retain information is through the use of music. In the article written by Onur Kokal, Nihan
Yagisan, and Ahnet Cekic, titled The effects of music on achievement, attitude and retention n
primary school English lessons states the way that students are able to be taught their class
curriculum through the use of music. The article begins to explain how the way that the human brain
is able to retain information is through the way that the material is being emphasized and taught.
As it goes on it begins to inform the reader that one of the ways that the brain is able to
subconsciously store information is through the use of music. Because music has rhythms and
beasts that are intriguing to the brain the information that is being processed with some sort of
music in the background would be fairly easier to remember. Ever question as to why individuals

Essay on The Rise in Female Gang Members
Many people recognize that gangs have been around for what seems like forever. What they don t
realize is that the numbers are increasing to amazing proportions, there were 28,000 youth gangs
with 780,200 members in the United States (in 2000) and 20% to 46% of those members are
female (Evans). And what is even more shocking is, in Chicago alone there are 16,000 to 20,000
female gangmembers (Eghigian). These girls start out as ?groupies?, become members, and
sometimes even leaders of all girl gangs because of troubles in the home, a need for money, for the
social scene, or just because it is all they know.

Abner tells of Jonelle (nicknamed BabyJ), who is the oldest of three, who had a gang member
and incarcerated father and a mother addicted to crack. She needed to be the support system to
her family and turned to her father?s same gang to help her sell drugs and to make her feel like
she had a family who cared (Abner). This story is not only the story of Jonelle, there are many
other girls like her who have no choice but to become gang members.
Many of these girls, as Abner tells, come from homes where they parents were original gangsters
(founding members), or O.G.?s. They grow up with a ?strong gang presence?, and that gang
turns into their own family (Eghigian). Usually, the gang presence is found within the
relationships between their parents, friends, and boyfriends. These gangs make the girls feel at
home because of the ties the membership comes with. Once a member, they will most likely
always be a member because of ties ?that supersede blood ties? (Abner). But not all girls are
looking for a super strong bond with a community, some are just looking for a party, the social
scene that gang life comes with. They look for people to spend time with, to skip school, gossip,
listen to music, get high, and flirt with the male gang members (Abner). Those that often join for
the male gang member were usually sexually abused, and now engage in sexual behavior with
them. They earn reputations as ?toss ups? by

Negative Impact Of College Football
The role of college football negatively influenced the American culture between the 1890s and the
1930s. The players, coaches, universities and fans blew the game of college football way out of
proportion. There was an enormous wave of investment for big stadiums in the 1920s, otherwise
known as the Golden Age of sports. Many universities built large stadiums for their football
program so they could be nationally recognized as a major academic institution and so they could
also compete against the other well known universities during the time. Such as Ohio State, when
they built Ohio Stadium in 1920s. Ohio State built Ohio Stadium so they could boost their national
reputation and also so they could peer match Michigan s stadium, also known as, The Big House .
Then came the concern that the universities built stadiums that were too big. Many feared that
there would not be enough people to fill the seats on game day. A majority of the stadiums were
built too large for the time period. The teams had to grow their fan basis by winning important
games in order to get more people through the gates. Also, many stadiums were built to hold one
big game and crowd a year. But, would this one game bring enough money in to pay off the
millions of dollars that were spent to build the stadium? The large stadiums eventually paid off
when the fan base became larger, but it took years for that to happen. Now, there are so many
people that want to come to the games that there is simply not enough room for everyone.
College football also negatively affected the athletes between 1890 and 1930. With the extreme
development of competitive college football, college athletes started their career as early as
secondary school. So, instead of focusing on school work and applications for future colleges,
these athletes would make sure they were the best at the sport even before they entered into
college. Once the athletes entered into college, they had a hard time balancing schoolwork with
athletics because in the previous years they were so focused on getting better at football. As said
in the preface of the Carnegie bulletin, No college boy training for a major team can have much
time for thought or study (Savage et. al. xiv). Also,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Professional Training
GENERAL CONCLUSION:
This research which aimed at understanding if financial authority trainers are professionally and
intellectually well equipped to instruct and assess adult learners has enabled us to attain some
important achievements that we organized into two main groups: positive and negative.
Such an appraisal was made possible by comparing financial authority trainers habits and actions
with the principles of andragogy as described in Malcom Knowles works. Thus, we were
positively impressed by their awareness of the fact that adult learners engaged in professional
training should not be given a mark for fear to hinder his self esteem. Moreover, most of them knew
that adults learning and assessment should rather be task based. ... Show more content on

Dynamic Character Of Ophelia In Shakespeare s Hamlet
The character of Ophelia in Shakespeare s Hamlet is a dynamic character often overlooked by
most readers. At first glance, she is displayed as weak and easily manipulated, shown by her
suicide in the play. However, when her character is looked into with more depth, she comes off as
a character who is strong and independent and made the choice to kill herself with a purpose.
Hamletis a revenge tragedy, but Hamlet isn t the only character who seeks revenge. Ophelia
chooses to kill herself not out of sorrow, but out of revenge against her father and Hamlet.
Ophelia s father was portrayed as a man who tried to have control over his daughter s life and the
choices she makes. In Ophelia s first scene, Polonius and her brother Laertes, are talking to
Ophelia about her virtue Tender yourself more dearly/ Or not to crack the wind of the poor

the matter of her virtue, and how it is sacred to her. It is something that she must keep safe at all

Asian Cultures And American Cultures Essay
Culture: Earth is bigger than what most people think; it consists of 7 continents, 7 seas, and 196
different countries. Taking that into consideration, our earth currently is supporting over 7 billion
people worldwide. That is 7 billion people who are different and individuals who share different
thoughts, ideas, backgrounds, and cultures. Cultures are very unique as they are different from
country to country. Some adopt cultures that society accept as the norm, while others adopt
different types of cultures; cultures that not many people, especially those outside from the country,
can see eye to eye and would sometimes find them rather extreme . When comparing Asian cultures
and American cultures side by side, we can easily identify the many differences between the two.
For one, Asian cultures are less open, more traditional and conservative in comparison to
Americans. While Americans promote liberty, independence, and values individualism; Asian
countries, on the other hand, are more fixated in keeping to the custom. Knowing this, it is not
surprising to see Asian countries have a more rigid and structured form of society compared to the
Western counterparts. The values, business structures and even priorities are different between the
two and can easily be distinguished. Singapore is a good example on the contrasting differences
and representation of the Asian cultures. Singapore: Singapore is a self governing city state located

students who spent a huge amount of time on IMing, they have a tough time focusing on their

A Summary And Suggestions Of The Bank Essay
CHAPTER 5
5.1.1 FINDINGS AND SUGGESTIONS
The Bank has to do lot of work why people are still financially excluded even after 68 years of
independence and design policies to ensure inclusion of the poor and disadvantaged people. The
strategy could vary from village to village but all efforts should be made in this way as financial
inclusion can truly lift the financial condition and standards of life of the poor and the
disadvantaged people of Jammu Kashmir. Large percentage of loans is taken by households for
meeting financial emergency, medical emergency and social obligations like marriages, etc. These
three purposes amount to 53% of the loans availed by the people. More than 60% of people/farmers
are indebted to non institutional sources. In case of crisis, these people find it convenient to
approach non institutional sources for their credit necessities. Financial emergencies, for instance
include unforeseen expenditure on business, consumption, marriage among others, which may not
be financed by banks and other institutional organizations. Need specific loans / credit schemes can
attract the people towards the banking domain.
In India when financial inclusion started it was just to have minimum access to bank accounts

Why Gen-Y Johnny Read Non-Verbal Cues
in how each generation uses technology .For instance, the Baby Boomers prefer face to face
communication ,Generation X prefers electronic communication and the Millennials , who were
born with technology, are always connected to it. Today, technology is an integral part of people s
lives. It provides people with news, entertainment and most importantly they use it to communicate
with other people. The development of technologyhas considerably improved the way of living.
Technology has made its impact on each and every aspect of people s lives, including the means of

young people outfitted with iPhone and laptop and devoting hours every evening from age 10
onward to messaging of one kind and another are ever less likely to develop the silent fluency that
comes from face to face interaction (146). The disadvantage of using technology as a means to

CASEMaker Inc. What is Rapid Application Development? The availability of powerful CASE
software makes it possible for developers to create systems much faster than ever before. These
new integrated CASE toolsets are breaking out of the bubble of traditional software development
thought. They take application development beyond generation coding, just as generation, many
years ago, surpassed textual coding. These tools enable a developer to drag and drop previously
generated code, saving that developer the time and effort of individually hand coding the text of
the application. CASE tools also enable a developer to implement Rapid Application Development
irrespective of their programming language or platform. programming language. Stanley Marcus
of Neiman Marcus said, There are only two things of importance. One is the customer, and the

MLK s Speech and Its Effect on Local Civil Rights Movement
The white man won t hand out integration on a silver platter.
The history of the civil rights is often told on the national scale or following well known figures
and direct action events such as the sit in campaign and Rosa Parks famous stand on a Montgomery
bus. More recently, historians have focused their research on the local level, revealing events that
are not prominent, but integral to the larger scale history of civil rights in the United States.
Although national power determined the deliberate speed of desegregation legislation, local
communities determined the actual speed in which they would be enforced. Some communities

Following the momentum of the boycott, King founded the Southern Christian Leadership
Conference with the purpose of enabling the region s Negro leaders to plan activities parallel to
those of the NAACP. The first goal of the organization was to register two million new Negro
voters before the 1960 presidential election and King began the summer of 1958 travelling to
spread the message of equality and nonviolence throughout the nation. One week prior to King s
speech in Columbus, his request to meet with President Dwight Eisenhower in order to address the
President s recent plea for continued patience and previous promises to meet with Negro leaders
was accepted, and the conference enjoyed moderate media attention. On May 29, 1958, King,
along with Lester Granger of the National Urban League, Roy Wilkins of the National Association
for the Advancement of Colored People, and A. Philip Randolph of the Brotherhood of Sleeping
Car Porters, shared time with the President to discuss the rights of Negro Americans. The meeting
was ultimately unproductive and King immediately assessed the meeting with Eisenhower: I
think he believes it would be a fine thing to have an integrated society but I think he probably
feels that the more you push it, the more tension it will create so you just wait 50 or 100 years
and it will work itself out. I don t think he feels like being a crusader for integration. Although King

Nothing Gold Can Stay
Robert Frost wrote Nothing Gold Can Stay in 1923. Frost wrote this poem out of fear that the
world would end He did not publish the entire poem and modified the first section. The first
section is what is featured in print. By not publishing the entire piece this leads me to believe he
may have feared voicing his opinion or the original work was for a specific audience.
This poem is a narritive because it tells what Robert Frost is seeing. He is seeing the begining of
spring and he is also talking about
Nothing Gold Can Stay. It means that everything beautiful can t stick around.
Although there is not heavy repitition in the poem, Frost uses the word gold multiple times.

Nature is the character because Frost uses personification to bring nature alive; he also makes
nature do actions like a human.
The poet is deliberately keeping the rest of the poem fromt the readers. He only uses the first two
stanzas because Frost feared that publishing the rest of his poem would create fear in the reader of
the world ending soon. Frost left out the significant fact of WWI had just ended and that he feaded
a greater, larger war was coming next.
Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost does not stress cultural details, such as behavior, dress, or
speech habits of a particular group ora historical period or event. No selections are written is

when a child dies is socially constructed. In the article by Nancy Scheper Hughes called, Mother s

of their child. Alto is a poor underdeveloped shantytown. The women of Alto work for very little
wages and they cannot bring their children to work with then. The babies are left all alone and

The Importance Of Pyrite Recovery From Gangue
Gangue is one of the largest accumulating solid, and is particularly rich in pyrite. Therefore, pyrite
recovery from gangue is not only significant for the environmental protection, but also for the
development and production of chemicals. The dry separation methods, leading to the decreased
waste and cost effectiveness, have received significant attention of many scholars. In this study, the
vibration energywas introduced to promote the separation of particles. The interactions and effect of
comparison of the gas velocity, vibration intensity, and bed height were investigated. Moreover, the
sulfur migration for pyriterecovery from the gangue has been studied by several analytical
techniques. The results show that the segregation efficiency was directly related to the interaction
between various factors. After the separation, the sulfur content of the concentrates of 6+3, 3+1,
and 1+0.5 mm was 37.94, 35.43, and 30.61%, respectively. The sulfur segregation s standard
deviation (SSSD) was 0.70, achieving a satisfactory separation efficiency, indicating that pyrite was
the foremost material in the concentrate, and S and Fe migrated in the form of pyrite during the
separation process, indicating that pyrite could be effectively enriched by the dry method of
vibration fluidized bed after the separation.

Essay On Jurassic Park
In 1993, director Stephen Spielberg released the blockbuster hit Jurassic Park. The sci fi film
explored the potential outcome of cloning dinosaurs from prehistoric DNA. The velociraptors,
dilophosaurus , and triceratops seemed to thrive from the beginning of the movie, hunting down
prey. They had access to the appropriate food, had appropriate habitats, and never seemed to
struggle. In reality, however, if scientists had the correct technology, dinosaurs would most likely
not be able to adapt to today s environment the way they did in the film. In the 21st century, current
dangers include climate change, food sources, and bacteria. The way dinosaurs adapt fully depend
on scenarios based on their surroundings. Climate change has changed drastically since the age of
the dinosaurs. Ice caps have melted, more frequent wildfires have occured, and the number of
tropical storms has increased. Humans have been able to survive with this change. Dinosaurs,
however, are cold blooded, meaning they adapt their body temperatures to their environment. If the
temperature drops to dangerously low levels, the organisms could die or become weak. When the
dinosaurs lived, the temperature range was more of a constant, making it easy to adapt. Although
they may not be affected in the short term, the long term affects can become... Show more content

the Mexico area, which has its own native species. These species may not be native to the United
States, though. America may be home to organisms that the dinosaurs arent used to, and could cause

The Pros And Cons Of Political Reform Commissions
In early December 1999, the new PUP government announced that it was establishing a broad
based Political Reform Commission to review Belize s system of governance and develop
proposals for reform. On January 13, 1999, Prime Minister, the Honorable Said Musa officially
launched the Commission in BelizeCity. Some of the things the Reform Commission was
mandated for are: to review the system of governance and to make recommendations for its
improvement, whether by amendments to the Constitution or laws or otherwise, with a view to
achieving greater democracy. Also, to take account of all the ideas and proposals made over the
past few years by different organizations. Some members of the Reform Commission are: Senator

Therefore, I disagree with the commission s recommendation. I believe that Belize should
change from Parliamentary Executive to Executive Presidential. In such case, having the
Parliamentary Executive system has quite a few disadvantages. Some of them are: quick
decision making, the system has not effectively prevented the increase of official waste and
corruption, and the House and even more so the Senate serve largely as rubber stamps for
Cabinet decisions. If we continue to use this system, the people will not be able to be a part of
the decision making because this system is of a dictatorship. It means that even if we disagree
with something, it s not us who have the final say. Also, it didn t decrease waste and corruption
but I believe instead it has increased. Moreover, saying that the House and Senate serves largely as
a rubber stamp for Cabinet decisions means that the House and the Senate are approving matters or
making decisions without real power. The House Senate aren t very important to what they

Energy Detection Based Spectrum Sensing Method
In energy detector, the received signal is first filtered with a band pass filter in bandwidth to
normalize the noise variance and to limit the noise power. The output signal is then squared and
integrated as follows: for each in phase or quadrature component, a number of samples over a
time interval are squared and summed. The conventional energy detection method assumes that
the primary user signal is either absent or present and the performance degrades when the
primary user is absent and then suddenly appears during the sensing time. An adaptive method
to improve the performance of Energy detection based spectrum sensing method is proposed .In
this proposal, a side detector is used which continuously monitor the spectrum so as to improve
the probability of detection. The Primary user uses a QPSK signal with a 200 kHz band pass
bandwidth (BW). The sampling frequency is 8 times the signal BW. A 1024 point FFT is used to
calculate the received signal energy. Simulation results showed that when primary users appear
during the sensing time, the conventional energy detector has lower probability of detection as
compared to the proposed detector. The performance of energy detector is characterized by
Receiver Operating curves usually. AOC (Area under the Receiver Operating curves) is used to
analyze the performance of the energy detector method over Nakagami fading channels. Results
showed that a higher value of fading parameter leads to larger average AUC, and

The environment we found ourselves in was ever changing and required all employees to be
flexible and work co operatively. It was particularly important in my role as Team Leader to
understand and demonstrate the linkages between the Departments work areas and incorporate
them into our planning and decision making. This was most evident in the new Integrity Policy
Framework that related directly with my Division and the greater agency. During the initial stages
of this policy taking effect it was integral my team and the greater Employment Suitability team
understood our role in implementing the policy. I utilised my team members expertise in their
ability to effectively communicate to stakeholders the new requirements, including the new
Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC), which is designed to provide assurance to the
community that there is minimal risks associated with individuals or their circumstances which
may cast doubt on their ability to support the agency and maintaining the Departments
commitment to integrity and security of Australia s borders. The new policy also stipulated that
anyone working for the Department had to hold a minimum Baseline level security clearance.
This was a huge change for my team as it meant that more then 7000 clearances needed to be
initiated. With a small team and such a large body of work to complete, it was integral for me to
ensure I was providing regular updates to my managers and my team as to the current workload
and expected timeframes of completion. This allowed for all team members to be across what was
expected of us and to provide reportable data to the Executives. By maintaining open
communication channels with my team and managers we were able to efficiently initiate the

Summary Of Horses Of The Night By Margaret Laurence
One s actions are first sparked by their goals and passions, but as they grow, outer forces invade
those thoughts and make them clouded, their passions start to fade and eventually disappear. As
children, we dream about what we want to be when we grow up. We have hope in our eyes, and
nothing can hold us back. As we grow and learn, we are forced into realization of the harsh
realities we live in, making our dreams sink. We must decide if we are going to let these forces
knock us down, and conform to them, or stand strong and not take no for an answer. Margaret
Laurence allows us to follow the development of Chris and how outer forces effect him in the
short story Horses of the Night . When Chris first moves to Manawaka, the new town gives him
hope. Manawaka is different then where he grew up, with new people, and new opportunities to
explore. Chris is still young, going to high school to get an education, and still believes that he can
do anything if he sets his mindto it. Some outer forces try to bring Chris mind into reality, such as
grandfather s reminders of Chris growing up as a poor boy and taking after his father. Chris
never seemed to let these remarks affect him, He would not argue or defend himself... He simply
appeared to be absent, elsewhere. This is how Chris dealt with reality, ignoring it completely, and
instead focused on his own world, the world he preferred. These forces that his grandfather put on
him seem to have little effect on Chris. His

My Experience At My Life
September 14th, 2011, the last day I have in Manado, Indonesia. My family and friends were in
the airport, waiting for me, while I was checking in my luggage. When I went back, all of my
friends were standing and smiling at me. I know they were sad, but they tried to cover it with
their smile. I gave each one of them a t shirt that has writing about them, and they gave me the
same thing. We talked, laughed, and joked around until it was time for me to go. Tears were
falling down on their cheeks, when they heard that it was time for me to go. I gave my family and
friends a hug, and went to the terminal. My journey started, when I got in to the airplane. It was a
long long journey, I thought, because it took hours to get to Los Angeles. I was excited at first, but
then sad again when I think about home. I was crying while I was on the airplane, thinking, how
my life is going to be in Harbert Hills. I had some stops. The first stop was at Changi Airport,
Singapore. We have to stay there for a night, until the next flight (the next day). The airport is
really nice and clean. They have free internet, a free place to rest, and it is very safe too, so I do
not have to worry about my suit case. I was on the computer most of the night, checking my e
mails and Facebook. I could not sleep that night, because I was thinking about my life at home,
and again, how is it going to be in Harbert Hills. The second stop was at Narita Airport, Tokyo,
Japan. It was only 45

  • 2. Disney Growth Essay Arion 4 Anthony Arion Principles of Management Prof 12 October 2016 Midwest Central to Disney Growth Worth of the Disney Company in 2014 was reported to be as follows: 85 Billion in assets; Capitalized at $179.5 Billion; Net worth $48.18 Billion. At the end of 2015, revenue of the Disney Company worldwide was $52.47 Billion. These figures appear staggering for a company that was started in 1923 in the rear of a real estate office in Los Angeles; however, it is imperative for the Disney Company, both a content provider and content creator, to consider a Grand Strategy in 2017. (Statista) Growth by diversification could be catastrophic for Disney. Disney is known for its short animated films and full length films that are considered... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is said that Nickelodeon alone drove the price of Viacom stock to $60.00. This does not even consider the worth of the MTV network. Nickelodeon would give Disney growth in the coveted teen market. Many of the Nickelodeon celebrities have considerable net worth. Nick Cannon soon found his home with Nickelodeon as a rich rapper. With a net worth of $20 Million, Cannon is considered the richest rapper associated with Nickelodeon. Since the contracts are with Nickelodeon for these celebrities, it might be too risky for Disney to grow by acquisition. Depending upon how the contracts are written, Disney could spend a lot of money to have a great network without celebrities. (The Richest) Since ?Cash Cows? do not aggressively pursue opportunities, protecting themselves from threats of takeovers and acquisition, employee morale is low because when the company does not pursue opportunities, personal growth can be stunted as well. Disney is proud of their reputation of satisfied and wealthy employees. ?Cash Cows? such as Microsoft and Apple are so consumed with the popularity of their brand, they do not have to aggressively market the brand; instead their main focus is to maintain the integrity of their ... • 3. Effects Of Social Media Addiction Forest park students slowly wonder through the halls trying to make it to their next class. They are oblivious to their surroundings because of their eyes glued to their social media apps on their phones. It almost looks like they are zombies feeding their social media brains with their phones. Every day students show the addiction to social media. Social media addiction is when people cannot go a long time without going on social media. An example of social media addiction would be a kid constantly checking their snapchat every few minutes for long periods of time. Social media addictions is a very important and serious topic, which also comes with its effects on people. Some include, health risks to the brain, social issues, and behavioral issues. You may be surprised to know that according to a 2012 study posted on the national institutes website, Internet Addiction disorder (IAD) ruins lives by causing neurological complications, physiological disturbances, and social problems. This statistic shows that there are truly some bad health issues that can come from feeding this to your brain. Just by going on your phone to look at social media can cause very bad health problems, which seems like a small thing to do but that sat shows it really does have a big effect. To find out more about this, a reporter interviewed Kris Iwinski who is a 8th grade students mom and has had lots of experience with her son being on social media. The first question she was asked was Is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Evolution Of The Modern Day Human Essay The modern day human has not existed for very long, in fact its one of the recent species to populate the Earth. Before modern day humans or Homo sapiens sapiens as we are scientifically known as, existed a similar yet less developed Homo genus named Homo erectus/ Homo ergaster. Evidence of these species dates back to over 1.9 million years ago and up to as recently as 70,000 years ago in which the evidence can be found in Africa, Europe and Asia. In this essay I will firstly provide a general timeline, providing key dates and phases of evolution. I will then discuss my findings from the research I have collected as well as information provided by expert insights and discoveries. I will explain the cause for the expansion from Africa to Europe and Asia and lastly I will elaborate on the established branches of Homo erectusand how the different Homo genus came to exist. Timeline The Homo genus dates back almost three million years. The Homo habilis species was the first in the Homo genus and is believed to have initially developed 2.8 mya (million years ago) in East Africa before becoming extinct 1.5 mya. This occurred during the Lower Paleolithic period (2.7 mya 200 kya) in which the very first stone tools were created and mastered named the Oldowan stone industry. H. habilis were the first fully bipedial species which allowed them to travel further than their quadrupedial ancestors. Having covered most of Africa, the H. habilis was then able to manufacture stone tool ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Technology And The Modern Society Technology plays a major role in everyday life for the vast majority of people. From things as simple as cooking meals and cleaning the house, to things as complex as putting a satellite into space or performing brain surgery, technology affects nearly every facet of life. This equipment is the modern society s playground. Technology has affected the movement of people throughout the world, the spending of their leisure time and the ways people communicate with one another. Advances in technology allow for the transportation of people and goods to happen at blinding speeds. History has proven that the time taken to travel between two points has decreased as the travel technology has increased. Take Nate Damm, a recent TEDx presenter, for example. Recently Damm walked across the United States, accomplishing the task in nearly 7.5 months (Damm, 2012). As a point of reference, the Lewis and Clark Expedition lasted 3 years, from 1803 to 1806, and started half way across the United States in St. Louis, Missouri. Only 200 years ago in America s infancy, Damm, Lewis and Clark s walking from place to place would be one of a few options available to early settlers. Moving forward to the 1960s, the modern automobile shortens the travel time for this trek across America. MapQuest, a free online mapping and directions service, states that a route between Boston, Massachusetts, and San Francisco, California, takes about 48 hours to drive. Later in the same decade as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Nature Of Auditors Professional Scepticism Introduction Professional scepticism (PS) is critically important to the way in which auditing is conducted. It is also an essential component of a qualified auditor. The prior literature (Hurtt et al, 2013) argued that PS can be influenced by various factors, which arises the question regarding how PS should be positively perceived and effectively conducted in practices. Professional scepticism is defined as an attitude combined with a questioning mindset and a critical way of thinking towards auditing practices (Nelson, 2009). However, there is a divergence among practitioners and academia of how PS should be perceived and practiced. Neutral approach was suggested by early auditing standards while presumptive doubt is growing under ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is also widely asserted that skeptical mindset is critical to performing a rigorous and prudent auditing with due professional care (Holm and Zaman, 2012). In addition, the extent to which PS should be applied is vital for an auditor since it impacts both the accuracy and efficiency. Having too little of it will bias the accuracy while too much will lead to extra human effort and cost. The effective balance between risk and efficiency is the essence. In practice, there should be a limit on the level of details an auditor can possibly reach and on the extent the auditing should be conducted to. Neutrality is the essence of unbiased scepticism. According to CICA handbook (2003), an auditor is required to perform with a questioning attitude, having in mind that there may be the existence of financial misstatement. It also indicated that being skeptical requires critical thinking upon evidence obtained through the auditing process, and is alert for questionable documents regarding the entity representations. However, it does not mean an auditor should be obsessively suspicious about anything. Instead, it is suggested to have the capability to reach the balance without speculated dishonesty or unquestioned trust. An objective evaluation should always be guaranteed, and a neutral auditor should always present a suspension of judgement until having evidence or proving the otherwise. The above perspectives were supported by various literatures. One ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They openly talk about the powers they have in a supposedly anti evo era and yet no one seems to care remind me again how everyone hates evos. Luke even offers to buy Claire 2.0 a gunbecause what s more safe then handing a deadly weapon to someone that s never used one? Luckily she is smart enough to reject the offer because she has powers. Again where are the evo glasses? Where are the cops that are taking bounty for evos? Where is anyone of consequence to round up the evos? I have no clue why they introduced aspects of the show that only affected people selectively. Yet people talking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Phoebe is clearly evil and has no remorse about her deed but she is smart enough to be a true villain so hopefully she either dies soon or becomes a self reliant villain. Instead of killing them Claire 2.0 decides they should come along because you of course need people that tried to kill you along when you save the world. Finally, Harris does something when he fought Katana girl but failed to complete his mission which was to kill her. He does however die along with all his clones. • 9. Reflection On Light And How Light Bendss In The Whitehouse This following science lab reflection is about light and how it bends while it travels from one thing to another. Our main goal for this lab was to discover how light bends. But the problem is that we have to break in and get past laser security in the Whitehouse. I hypothesised that, if we can bend the lightaround us then we will be able to get past the laser security. If we shine water at the light then the light will bend better and we will be able to get past the laser security and into the Whitehouse. In this lab we used the mediums: air, water, and glass. We also used prisms, such as a circle, square, and triangle. These materials all helped us figure out, which was the best to bend the light with. What we did to find these results was through a computer simulation to test the way the light bends with others objects and prisms. This is a short summary about what we did and used for this Science Lab. When conducting this Lab we found many interesting findings. A few findings were that when the light from the air hit the water the angle of refractiondecreased to 22o compared to the angle of incident/reflectionof 30o. The opposite occurred when the light from the water hit the air. The angle of refraction increased drastically to 42o when still compared at 30o angle of incident/reflection. With the light from air to the glass, the angle of refraction decreased a lot to 19o with the 30o angle of reflection/incident. Things I can say after these results are that the ... Role Playing In MBI Behavior At the same time, one of the more interesting sources of MBI behavior results from a form of role playing that is commonly known as pseudologia fantastica, which refers to when an individual plays out a series of dramatic by telling lies or stories that exasperate the truth of their given situation in order to fulfill some kind of personal fantasy. The concept comes from an idea that some individuals receive pleasure from acting out imaginary roles through their Internet persona. According to Friedman (2016), most objectifications of pseudologia fantastica in MBI involve situations where dramatic lies are told by patients about their achievements, social connections, exploits, and so on (p. 226). • 11. United States Health Care System TITLE OF PAPER For many years the condition of the United States health care system has been a hot topic for debate. Some would like to believe that the U.S has the best health care system in the world, but unfortunately that may not be the truth. In 2000 The World Health Organization (WHO) released a world health report. The report ranked the overall health system performance of 191 countries; the United States was ranked at 37 out of the 191. With out of control costs, highly inequitable coverage and comparatively low health outcomes, the US healthcare system has failed to provide efficient, dependable coverage for the population as a whole as compared to most European and developed Asian systems (Blank, 2012). On March 23, 2010 congress approved and President Obama signed The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) into law. The PPACA is more commonly known as just the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or negatively as Obamacare. In order for the ACA to be passed, the President had to appease the different political parties. As a result, the ACA is not entirely an original idea. Some of the main provisions already had the support of various political parties, because they had been introduced by past presidents and political parties in their health reform plans over the past few decades. Some examples include: both Nixon and Carter had employer mandates; Bush had a version of the individual mandate, both Bush and Clinton proposed similar ideas to the insurance marketplace, among a few others. The ACA is similar to universal health care; the objective is to ensure that the US citizens have access to affordable quality healthcare, instead of a free market for all like in other countries it is still for profit. The Affordable Care Act increases access to care, makes health insurance more affordable, strengthens Medicare and ensures that Americans have more rights and protections (U.S. Department of ... Although they hail from different times and cultures, the characters Marlow and Ari display similarities in behaviours in as such they put themselves in perilous situations and surround themselves with untrustworthy associates . One reason why I do not agree with the statement racial identity and sexual orientation entrap and define us is an individual s self image and circumstance. For example, Marlow lived in the days of Imperialism. Instead of seeing themselves as interlopers in a new country the Europeans felt a sense of entitlement. • 19. Canterbury Tales And Decameron Attitude Towards Religion The end of the Middle Ages in Europe marked a great shift in the mindset of the people regarding the Church. The Church had always been a prominent aspect of the people s everyday life, but the Church lost some of its credit as new ideas and beliefs arose. Because of various catastrophic events, people also went to extremes to justify their behavior and find forgiveness for their sins. Literary works such as Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales and Boccaccio s The Decameron show this shift in attitude through tales and stories. The many events that took place between the late 1300s and early 1400s explain resulting shift in attitude toward the Church. There were several reasons as to why this change in attitude toward the Church took place. A major reason why the Church lost its credit was due to internal troubles and the Great Schism. • 22. The Musical Aspects Of Frank Sinatra Chapter Two: Sinatra as a Cultural Icon In the first chapter, this essay primarily addressed the musical aspects of Frank Sinatra. This section will examine his celebrity image, and how it reflected the values of popular culture that spanned his career. Sinatra was the first musician, more specifically a singer, to achieve this kind of fame and notoriety among his audiences. Intentional or not, he started a trend in popular music that would later be replicated by many artists, including Elvis, Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, and Barbara Streisand. One interesting facet about Sinatra is that he was not born into stardom, nor groomed for success. As mentioned above, Sinatra was born of two middle class Italian immigrants. Deeply rooted in American culture is the concept of the American Dream , espousing the country as a land of opportunity where anything is possible. Michael Frontani cites author Richard Weiss, in describing this ideal: The belief that all men, in accordance with certain rules, but exclusively by their own efforts, can make of their lives what they will... The pursuit of the American Dream involves a long road to financial independence for the individual, achieved by resilience and hard work. You shall do that which the Council of Vocations shall prescribe for you. (Rand 22). In the book, Rand describes how the Council keeps its subjects manipulated, maintaining obedience through their strict teaching. The main character Equality 7 2521 demonstrates how people are not allowed to follow their own path and are victims of a repressive system, which rewards complacency and discourages freethinking. In this society everyone must be just like everyone else. According to Equality 7 2521, individuals have no identity of their own. In this society no one is allowed to choose what they do with their lives, or even to think about what they want to do in the future. The Council of Vocations punishes Equality 7 2521 for being different, which means being intelligent and loving science. Instead of being made a scholar, which is what he really wants, Equality 7 2521 is made a street sweeper. The irony is that Equality 7 2521 would better serve society as a scholar because of his great intellectual gifts, but that would make individuals capable of distinguishing and separating themselves from the Council. • 34. Essay on The Rise in Female Gang Members Many people recognize that gangs have been around for what seems like forever. What they don t realize is that the numbers are increasing to amazing proportions, there were 28,000 youth gangs with 780,200 members in the United States (in 2000) and 20% to 46% of those members are female (Evans). And what is even more shocking is, in Chicago alone there are 16,000 to 20,000 female gangmembers (Eghigian). These girls start out as ?groupies?, become members, and sometimes even leaders of all girl gangs because of troubles in the home, a need for money, for the social scene, or just because it is all they know. Allison Abner, who wrote Gangsta girls, sat down and spoke with three girls who have all been in gangs while, two still are. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Abner tells of Jonelle (nicknamed BabyJ), who is the oldest of three, who had a gang member and incarcerated father and a mother addicted to crack. She needed to be the support system to her family and turned to her father?s same gang to help her sell drugs and to make her feel like she had a family who cared (Abner). This story is not only the story of Jonelle, there are many other girls like her who have no choice but to become gang members. Many of these girls, as Abner tells, come from homes where they parents were original gangsters (founding members), or O.G.?s. They grow up with a ?strong gang presence?, and that gang turns into their own family (Eghigian). Usually, the gang presence is found within the relationships between their parents, friends, and boyfriends. These gangs make the girls feel at home because of the ties the membership comes with. Once a member, they will most likely always be a member because of ties ?that supersede blood ties? (Abner). But not all girls are looking for a super strong bond with a community, some are just looking for a party, the social scene that gang life comes with. They look for people to spend time with, to skip school, gossip, listen to music, get high, and flirt with the male gang members (Abner). Those that often join for the male gang member were usually sexually abused, and now engage in sexual behavior with them. They earn reputations as ?toss ups? by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Negative Impact Of College Football The role of college football negatively influenced the American culture between the 1890s and the 1930s. The players, coaches, universities and fans blew the game of college football way out of proportion. There was an enormous wave of investment for big stadiums in the 1920s, otherwise known as the Golden Age of sports. Many universities built large stadiums for their football program so they could be nationally recognized as a major academic institution and so they could also compete against the other well known universities during the time. Such as Ohio State, when they built Ohio Stadium in 1920s. Ohio State built Ohio Stadium so they could boost their national reputation and also so they could peer match Michigan s stadium, also known as, The Big House . Then came the concern that the universities built stadiums that were too big. Many feared that there would not be enough people to fill the seats on game day. A majority of the stadiums were built too large for the time period. The teams had to grow their fan basis by winning important games in order to get more people through the gates. Also, many stadiums were built to hold one big game and crowd a year. But, would this one game bring enough money in to pay off the millions of dollars that were spent to build the stadium? The large stadiums eventually paid off when the fan base became larger, but it took years for that to happen. Now, there are so many people that want to come to the games that there is simply not enough room for everyone. College football also negatively affected the athletes between 1890 and 1930. With the extreme development of competitive college football, college athletes started their career as early as secondary school. So, instead of focusing on school work and applications for future colleges, these athletes would make sure they were the best at the sport even before they entered into college. Once the athletes entered into college, they had a hard time balancing schoolwork with athletics because in the previous years they were so focused on getting better at football. As said in the preface of the Carnegie bulletin, No college boy training for a major team can have much time for thought or study (Savage et. al. xiv). Also, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Professional Training GENERAL CONCLUSION: This research which aimed at understanding if financial authority trainers are professionally and intellectually well equipped to instruct and assess adult learners has enabled us to attain some important achievements that we organized into two main groups: positive and negative. Taking that into consideration, our earth currently is supporting over 7 billion people worldwide. That is 7 billion people who are different and individuals who share different thoughts, ideas, backgrounds, and cultures. Cultures are very unique as they are different from country to country. Some adopt cultures that society accept as the norm, while others adopt different types of cultures; cultures that not many people, especially those outside from the country, can see eye to eye and would sometimes find them rather extreme . When comparing Asian cultures and American cultures side by side, we can easily identify the many differences between the two. For one, Asian cultures are less open, more traditional and conservative in comparison to Americans. While Americans promote liberty, independence, and values individualism; Asian countries, on the other hand, are more fixated in keeping to the custom. Knowing this, it is not surprising to see Asian countries have a more rigid and structured form of society compared to the Western counterparts. The values, business structures and even priorities are different between the two and can easily be distinguished. Singapore is a good example on the contrasting differences and representation of the Asian cultures. Singapore: Singapore is a self governing city state located in Southeast Asia. The dry separation methods, leading to the decreased waste and cost effectiveness, have received significant attention of many scholars. In this study, the vibration energywas introduced to promote the separation of particles. The interactions and effect of comparison of the gas velocity, vibration intensity, and bed height were investigated. Moreover, the sulfur migration for pyriterecovery from the gangue has been studied by several analytical techniques. The results show that the segregation efficiency was directly related to the interaction between various factors. After the separation, the sulfur content of the concentrates of 6+3, 3+1, and 1+0.5 mm was 37.94, 35.43, and 30.61%, respectively. The sulfur segregation s standard deviation (SSSD) was 0.70, achieving a satisfactory separation efficiency, indicating that pyrite was the foremost material in the concentrate, and S and Fe migrated in the form of pyrite during the separation process, indicating that pyrite could be effectively enriched by the dry method of vibration fluidized bed after the separation. The velociraptors, dilophosaurus , and triceratops seemed to thrive from the beginning of the movie, hunting down prey. In such case, having the Parliamentary Executive system has quite a few disadvantages. Some of them are: quick decision making, the system has not effectively prevented the increase of official waste and corruption, and the House and even more so the Senate serve largely as rubber stamps for Cabinet decisions. If we continue to use this system, the people will not be able to be a part of the decision making because this system is of a dictatorship. It means that even if we disagree with something, it s not us who have the final say. Also, it didn t decrease waste and corruption but I believe instead it has increased. Moreover, saying that the House and Senate serves largely as a rubber stamp for Cabinet decisions means that the House and the Senate are approving matters or making decisions without real power. What Is The Criminalization Of Black Immigration As a fellow Black immigrant from Cote D Ivoire The State of Black Immigrant report really appealed to me.In Part I, the research stated prominent area where certain groups of Black immigrants like Haitian, Ethiopians, and Jamaicans stay. Geographically, the only reason I reside in New York, is because that is where the rest of my family and community reside. Being a part of a close knit community is a major part of my culture. It is how we interact, eat, pray, and celebrate. The reason a large portion of certain population stays in one area is because people like to connect with friends and families with similar cultures. • 57. Energy Detection Based Spectrum Sensing Method In energy detector, the received signal is first filtered with a band pass filter in bandwidth to normalize the noise variance and to limit the noise power. The output signal is then squared and integrated as follows: for each in phase or quadrature component, a number of samples over a time interval are squared and summed. The conventional energy detection method assumes that the primary user signal is either absent or present and the performance degrades when the primary user is absent and then suddenly appears during the sensing time. An adaptive method to improve the performance of Energy detection based spectrum sensing method is proposed .In this proposal, a side detector is used which continuously monitor the spectrum so as to improve the probability of detection. The Primary user uses a QPSK signal with a 200 kHz band pass bandwidth (BW). The sampling frequency is 8 times the signal BW. A 1024 point FFT is used to calculate the received signal energy. Simulation results showed that when primary users appear during the sensing time, the conventional energy detector has lower probability of detection as compared to the proposed detector. The performance of energy detector is characterized by Receiver Operating curves usually. AOC (Area under the Receiver Operating curves) is used to analyze the performance of the energy detector method over Nakagami fading channels. Results showed that a higher value of fading parameter leads to larger average AUC, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 58. Dbp Assignment I am writing to express my interest in the Personnel Security Team Leader role with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP). I have nine years experience in the Personnel Security environment and am passionate about the preservation of National Security and Pre Employment Screening. In my years of Personnel Securityexperience I have developed a well rounded knowledge base of the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) which outlines the controls used by the Australian Government to protect its people, information and resources. In my current role with the DIBP Personnel Security Clearance Team I have been able to incorporate my extensive PSPF knowledge in assisting with the development of Departmental policy s, management ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The environment we found ourselves in was ever changing and required all employees to be flexible and work co operatively. It was particularly important in my role as Team Leader to understand and demonstrate the linkages between the Departments work areas and incorporate them into our planning and decision making. This was most evident in the new Integrity Policy Framework that related directly with my Division and the greater agency. During the initial stages of this policy taking effect it was integral my team and the greater Employment Suitability team understood our role in implementing the policy. I utilised my team members expertise in their ability to effectively communicate to stakeholders the new requirements, including the new Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC), which is designed to provide assurance to the community that there is minimal risks associated with individuals or their circumstances which may cast doubt on their ability to support the agency and maintaining the Departments commitment to integrity and security of Australia s borders. The new policy also stipulated that anyone working for the Department had to hold a minimum Baseline level security clearance. This was a huge change for my team as it meant that more then 7000 clearances needed to be initiated. With a small team and such a large body of work to complete, it was integral for me to ensure I was providing regular updates to my managers and my team as to the current workload and expected timeframes of completion. This allowed for all team members to be across what was expected of us and to provide reportable data to the Executives. By maintaining open communication channels with my team and managers we were able to efficiently initiate the required clearances whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail and excellent customer ... • 59. Summary Of Horses Of The Night By Margaret Laurence One s actions are first sparked by their goals and passions, but as they grow, outer forces invade those thoughts and make them clouded, their passions start to fade and eventually disappear. As children, we dream about what we want to be when we grow up. We have hope in our eyes, and nothing can hold us back. As we grow and learn, we are forced into realization of the harsh realities we live in, making our dreams sink. We must decide if we are going to let these forces knock us down, and conform to them, or stand strong and not take no for an answer. Margaret Laurence allows us to follow the development of Chris and how outer forces effect him in the short story Horses of the Night . When Chris first moves to Manawaka, the new town gives him hope. Manawaka is different then where he grew up, with new people, and new opportunities to explore. Chris is still young, going to high school to get an education, and still believes that he can do anything if he sets his mindto it. Some outer forces try to bring Chris mind into reality, such as grandfather s reminders of Chris growing up as a poor boy and taking after his father. Chris never seemed to let these remarks affect him, He would not argue or defend himself... He simply appeared to be absent, elsewhere. This is how Chris dealt with reality, ignoring it completely, and instead focused on his own world, the world he preferred. These forces that his grandfather put on him seem to have little effect on Chris. His ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 60. My Experience At My Life September 14th, 2011, the last day I have in Manado, Indonesia. My family and friends were in the airport, waiting for me, while I was checking in my luggage. When I went back, all of my friends were standing and smiling at me. I know they were sad, but they tried to cover it with their smile. I gave each one of them a t shirt that has writing about them, and they gave me the same thing. We talked, laughed, and joked around until it was time for me to go. Tears were falling down on their cheeks, when they heard that it was time for me to go. I gave my family and friends a hug, and went to the terminal. My journey started, when I got in to the airplane. It was a long long journey, I thought, because it took hours to get to Los Angeles. I was excited at first, but then sad again when I think about home. I was crying while I was on the airplane, thinking, how my life is going to be in Harbert Hills. I had some stops. The first stop was at Changi Airport, Singapore. We have to stay there for a night, until the next flight (the next day). The airport is really nice and clean. They have free internet, a free place to rest, and it is very safe too, so I do not have to worry about my suit case. I was on the computer most of the night, checking my e mails and Facebook. I could not sleep that night, because I was thinking about my life at home, and again, how is it going to be in Harbert Hills. The second stop was at Narita Airport, Tokyo, Japan. It was only 45 ...
