Bihar Intelligent Transport & Habitat Authority (BITHA) can be a powerful engine as well as a catalyst for a well-rounded, accelerated economic development of Bihar, improving quality of life and to create job opportunities.
The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has taken up detailed review of National Highways (NHs) network with a view to improve road connectivity to coastal / border areas, backward areas, religious places, tourist places, construction / rehabilitation / widening of about 1,500 major bridges and 200 Railway Over Bridges (ROBs) / Railway Under Bridges (RUBs) on NHs, improvement of newly declared NHs providing connectivity to District Head Quarters, Connectivity Improvement Program for Char-Dham (Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunothri & Gangothri in Uttarakhand) under proposed Bharatmala
India’s urban population is currently around 30% of its total population. Experience across the world has been that as economies grow, rapid urbanization takes this proportion to over 60% before it begins to stabilize. As such, it is projected that India’s urban population would grow to about 473 million in 2021 and 820 million by 2051, as against only 285 million in 2001. Hence, cities must not only meet the mobility needs of the current population but also provide for the needs of those yet to join the urban population.

Applications of GIS in Public Health EngineeringVignesh Sekar
GIS is used to support decision making for planning and management of land use, natural resources, environment, transportation, urban facilities, and other administrative records. Remote sensing and GIS makes easier to get valuable information about the study area. GIS enables us to integrate different layers and to manage large database. It gives more accurate results when compared to conventional methods. Hence GIS is proved to be a powerful tool in managing spatial and non spatial databases in suitability evaluation.

E-mobility trends in India: Challenges and OpportunitiesIET India
India is the 4th largest automotive industry in the world and is rapidly adopting connectivity and other advanced technologies in the mobility segment. The recent approval from the Government of India for the second phase of the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric vehicles (FAME 2) is a clear signal of the country’s positive intent in striding towards green mobility.
IET’s Future of Mobility and Transport Panel has brought together experts from the e-mobility industry in India to discuss the technological trends in the e-mobility space and ways of optimising e-mobility use for everyday life. This document gives a brief summary of the discussions that shed light on the progress of e-mobility in India, pressing challenges that lie ahead and the way forward for e-mobility in the country. Experts also discussed the technology driven trends faced by the Indian market and how these will impact mobility behaviour in India.
James Riley has spent the last few months helping our lab develop some baseline information about the evolution of transportation and infrastructure in Bangalore. Here is the first cut of a presentation he gave that summed up some of that research.
NON-MOTORIZED TRANSPORT AND SUSTAINABLE URBAN PLANNING: A CASE STUDY OF PUNE ...IAEME Publication
With changing urbanization pattern along with socio-economic growth, a transport demand in urban area of India is growing rapidly. Non-motorized modes of transport have a significant role in catering to transport demand and ensuring a sustainable transport system for India. Indian situation is very different. India is poor in hydro-carbon and capital resources but rich in man power and animal draft power. A sustainable transport system must meet the mobility and accessibility needs of people by providing safe and environmentally friendly modes of transportation. Non-motorized transportation (NMT) meets these objectives of sustainability as it utilizes indigenously available human and animal energy which is non-polluting, safe, affordable and user friendly and need only a small fraction of the capital required for motorized transport.

role of women and girls in various terror groupssadiakorobi2
Women have three distinct types of involvement: direct involvement in terrorist acts; enabling of others to commit such acts; and facilitating the disengagement of others from violent or extremist groups.
In a May 9, 2024 paper, Juri Opitz from the University of Zurich, along with Shira Wein and Nathan Schneider form Georgetown University, discussed the importance of linguistic expertise in natural language processing (NLP) in an era dominated by large language models (LLMs).
The authors explained that while machine translation (MT) previously relied heavily on linguists, the landscape has shifted. “Linguistics is no longer front and center in the way we build NLP systems,” they said. With the emergence of LLMs, which can generate fluent text without the need for specialized modules to handle grammar or semantic coherence, the need for linguistic expertise in NLP is being questioned.

http://www.patnadaily.com/news2009/dec/120309/dgp_serious_about_traffic_woes.html Among the steps to be taken to provide some temporary reliefs to the daily commuters, officials are working in conjunction with the local cable TV providers to flash current traffic conditions in various areas on the TV screens. The up-to-the-minute report would also advise people to avoid certain areas during peak hours and offer alternative routes to reach their destinations without much delay, the DGP said. "Surveys suggest that during the office rush hours in the morning and evening time, only a handful of roads in Patna face acute traffic jams. In spite of that, motorists and scooterists take those routes only adding further misery to the situation. If we could get a grip on those roads alone, the situation could be improved to a large degree," he said. With additional police on the roads notorious for prolonged traffic jams and a sound traffic management system, it is possible to cut down on commute time and reduce pollution at the same time, the DGP said. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/patna/Traffic-snarls-not-crime-worry-traders-now/articleshow/5305891.cms Traffic snarls, not crime, worry traders now Dipak Mishra, TNN 6 December 2009, 04:03am IST PATNA: Gone are the days when Bihar Chamber of Commerce (BCC) would invite cops for an interaction with its members who would shower them with Twitter FacebookShareEmail Print Save Comment complaints of `rangdari' or extortion being demanded by criminals. At such an event on Wednesday, Patna zone IGP P N Rai had to field questions and complaints related to traffic snarls in the city. "It is a compliment to your policing that we are not talking about `rangdari' which has almost ended," former BCC president Yugeshwar Pandey told the IGP at an interactive meeting between the police official and the Chamber members. Incidentally, Patna witnessed a massive traffic jam on Tuesday itself. "The traffic jams have assumed a very alarming proportion at Patna. Areas like Fraser Road, Exhibition Road, New Dak Bungalow Road, S P Verma Road, Jamal Road and the entire stretch of Ashok Rajpath are the worst hit," a memorandum submitted to the IGP by BCC president O K Agarwal said. It suggested creation of a separate traffic control room in the state capital. The business community made all kind of suggestions and complaints on the issue. "You should restrict the processions at the veterinary college," suggested one BCC member. Another complained about traffic policemen not wearing badges displaying their names so that someone could lodge a complaint against them. Yet another BCC member recalled he was forced to pay a fine of Rs 2,500 for parking his car near his destination . "I parked the car there because my wife is handicapped. But even your traffic SP Sridhar Mandal said that handicap factor did not concern him," the businessman complained. Rai conceded traffic is a major problem as the number of vehicles has increased four times during the last four years. He recalled he had ordered removal of encroachment from Exhibition Road. "But the encroachers were back by the time we finished at the other end of the road," he said. He also recalled how he had to personally intervene to get removed a car parked in the middle of a road. "There are all sorts of persons who defy traffic rules," he said. The IGP, however, listed a number of steps being taken for regulating traffic. "We cannot stop processions. But we will try to enforce an alternative route during that period," he said, adding teams have been constituted to remove encroachments. He also spoke about the proposed electronic surveillance system with CCTV cameras to regulate traffic and check crime. "We would be enforcing the one-way traffic system soon," he said.
