We did this to solve a business issue and not because of technology... . The business need for and expectations of MI are evolving rapidly as is the value we can deliver. The current technology architecture struggles (and sometimes fails) to deliver the complexity of information required in a timely manner to the dispersed, diverse user community via their channels of choice.
SAP Incentive Administration and SAP Paybacks and Chargebacks by Vistex are applications that extend SAP® ERP and SAP CRM software functionality. These applications provide companies with an embedded, fully-integrated solution for handling discount pricing, marketing fund claims, sales commissions & broker fees, in- & outbound royalty payments, and volume- & growth-based sales or purchasing rebates.
With visibility into costs, pricing and incentives, SAP Incentive Administration and SAP Paybacks and Chargebacks can analyze the gross-to-net profitability of sales in complex channels involving any number of intermediary channel partners. The solutions define the eligible products, channels, customers, pricing and incentives in each sales agreement. In many cases, multiple agreements may be involved in selling a product to the end-customer since there is typically an agreement between each intermediary partner in the supply chain.
These applications are able to consolidate a view of the multiple agreements, incentives and transactions, providing insight into revenue and spend. Operationally, the system needs to process the large influx of daily transactions, and analytical reporting consumes a significant portion of system resources.
SAP® HANA™ technology takes these solutions to the next level by enabling real-time insight into revenue and spend. First, the solution lowers data demands on the operational database used for transaction processing. Second, the solution virtually eliminates the data latency that is inherent in replicated data marts using traditional database technologies. Third, the solution accelerates analytical processing to provide insight on larger data sets (including Big Data) at faster speeds than traditional analytical tools.
SAP Co-innovation Lab (COIL) global network is designed for driving open innovation projects and initiatives to extend SAP’s solution coverage and enhance our solution infrastructure efficiency with partners. Vistex partnered with SAP and IBM in the SAP Co-Innovation Lab to develop a solution to provide real-time profitability analytics while reducing the overall impact on transactional processing and other business operations. As part of the project, an operational system was created with millions of lines of transactional data reflecting a large size (multi-billion dollar revenue) company, and reports analyzing revenue and spend were defined. This environment was used to evaluate the speed at which the analytical data set could be updated with new and changed data, as well as the time necessary to analyze and report revenue and spend data using multiple transaction types.
SAP HANA was used to reduce typical analytical report generation from several minutes to less than one second, while maintaining an up-to-date analytics data source that is updated within milliseconds of data changes in the operational system.

Using Sabermetrics to Drive Partner PerformanceEntomo
Remember “Moneyball”? In the book and movie, Billy Beane and the Oakland A’s used smart analytics to reveal the most important predictors of success – analysis that traditional metrics overlooked. Beane’s approach enabled him to build consistent winners at a fraction of the payroll of other clubs. Similarly, many companies use rudimentary metrics to assess and incentivize partner performance. These often miss the mark, and channel performance suffers.
Entomo Founder Sanjoy Chatterji hosted the webinar “Using Channel Sabermetrics to Drive Partner Performance” on Thursday, January 22nd. During this webinar, Sanjoy offered tips for success to drive improved performance and collaboration with distributor, reseller, and VAR partners.
“Most companies are tracking the wrong metrics related to their channel partners and programs, and hence leaving money on the table,” said Chatterji.
Watch the webinar replay and get the slides.
IN THIS WEBINAR YOU’LL LEARN:
- How scorecards change partner behavior
- Why raw revenue metrics are not a sufficient indicator of current or future performance
- Channel Sabermetrics: How to design a balanced partner scorecard
- How to collect and use key channel data to feed a scorecard
- Other best practices for channel-driven companies
Webinar Deck: How Multi-Channel Data Drives Multi-Channel PersonalizationEnsighten
“How Multi-Channel Data Drives Multi-Channel Personalization”
Today, digitally empowered customers have many ways of engaging with brands and are looking for tailored experiences that meet their needs. To compete, companies must now personalize across multiple channels and across all parts of the customer life cycle. Yet many firms do not have the necessary capabilities in place to do so.
A commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of Ensighten found that while 77% of firms apply some form of personalization within digital channels, multi-channel personalization is in its early stages of adoption with only 13% of firms applying extensive personalization across multiple channels using multiple techniques.
In this webinar we’ll discuss:
• How multi-channel data helps marketers understand and engage their customers
• Why digital marketers are prioritizing social media, websites and email channels for personalization and seeking to take a significant step into mobile personalization in 2014
• How to boost extensive personalization across multiple channels
• Why it’s important to use personalized engagements across the entirety of the customer life cycle and across all channels

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
