What is “Big Data”?
Hal Varian, Chief Economist at Google and Emeritus Professor at the
University of California, Berkeley, commented on the emerging opportunities for
IT professionals and students in Big Data and data analysis as follows:
“So what’s getting ubiquitous and cheap? Data. And what is complementary to
data? Analysis. So my recommendation is to take lots of courses about how to
manipulate and analyze data: databases, machine learning, econometrics,
statistics, visualization, and so on.”

apmg-international.com
1. Whereas many organizations are interested in Big Data,
many lack the skills and knowledge to actually take the next
steps.
2. There is not one single uniform vendor-independent
approach to big data available >90% of current Big Data
programs is vendor driven.
3. There is a great demand for standardization in Big Data Best
Practices that combine design and delivery of Big Data
solutions that include the ‘people aspect’ of Big Data.
4. Up until now, there was no global or leading certification
available in Big Data Best Practices.
The Big Data Framework provides a practical hand-on approach for
organizations that want to take the next steps with Big Data.
