How The Cloud Is A Time Consuming And Ultimately...
wanting to send folders and multiple documents this method can become time consuming and
ultimately inefficient. There is an option to zip files when emailing however this only compresses files
to a point, some are still too big. An alternate way to saving on the cloud is using Google Drive, which
in reality, most students at John Paul II (or at least in my year) do not have a lot of experience with, so
generally do not use it. This would be able to securely store larger files. Since we cannot work on
some files within the Google interface it would require the file to be downloaded each time it needs to
be updated on a different computer. This is one disadvantage which is inefficient but as Google
continues to develop more file types may be editable reducing this problem. Personally I prefer the
USB for larger files and transferring files in general. However an issue at our school especially within
the main computing room there are issues with USB s connecting so whenever attempting to transfer
data onto the school computer to work on it there is an uncertainty whether it will successfully connect
or not. The benefits as mentioned above are the USB can transfer large files and load them quickly
when USB is connected. An example of this is when working on the internal assessments for digital
media or digital information. When working on these assignments there is often a main folder
containing many sub folders with multiple files contained within them. This type of data

Exploitation Of Women In Advertising Research Paper
The exploitation of women in Ads
What are the dangers for the companies to use such types of ads? What are the different reactions of
men and women to this kind of ads ?
Introduction
The exploitation of women in the media has been part of the advertising industry since its beginning,
although the level to which women have been exploited has changed drastically. Advertising is a
highly visible and seemingly controversial agent of socialization (Paff, Lakner, 1997). Indeed, it
appears everywhere in our lives, on television, on the internet, on busses, in our mailbox, in
magazines, and now in the toilets of our favourite restaurants or nightclubs. Jean Kilbourne, one of the
best known advocate of raising awareness about the exploitation of ... Show more content on

Advertising ideologically shapes our perceptions of beauty and strongly influences our ideas, attitudes
and values within one s culture. Advertisers achieve this powerful and direct communication through
signifying practices which gives meaning to words and images (Kang, 1997). For example, the
exploitation of women is most apparent in TV beer commercials, where the promise of sex and fun is
the norm (Hall, Crum, 1994). For example, the Swedish Bikini Team commercial for Old Milwaukee
beer. In this commercial, large breasted blond women wearing bikinis were portrayed as fun
companions brought in especially to party with very few men.. Through the exploitation of women in
advertisements, this oppression leads to social problems, such the development of eating disorders by
young women attempting to achieve the conditioned idea of the ideal image (Kang, 1997).
A lack of identification which creates negative attitudes
The notion that female products are sold from a male perspective is an important concept because it is
a form of systematic male oppression, that most are aware of, yet still support and surrender to, or at
the very most give minimal opposition. Visual images are especially important when influencing
women s buying behavior as most readers of advertisement look at the illustration, read the headline,
read the body copy, in that order (Kang, 1997). Although, several journal articles, like the

Comparing The Song Clean And Taylor s Song Stitches
In every breakup leaving the relationship is not the hard part, it s the past put into the relationship that
s hard to let go. Shawn and Taylor use various symbols and imagery to illustrate what goes and comes
out of leaving a relationship. Their lyrics not only contain symbols and imagery, but also both share
their different views of ending a relationship. Shawn s song Stitches, talks about a teenage boy getting
over his first breakup verses Taylor s song Clean, goes in the direction of a girl that went through a
relationship that she cannot get over, but eventually has to in the end. These two songs have many
details that correlate with the artist s personal thoughts on torn relationships. For that reason, imagery,
song structure, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the chorus of the song he says, And now that I m without your kisses, I ll be needing stitches . What
he means, is that it takes time to get over a relationship that once was passionate, but now broken.
That once burning with love feeling that he had turned into a broken heart that s getting mended over
time. Another line in the song, in which he says Needle and the thread, gotta get you out of my head .
He says this line a number amount of times throughout the entire song. He s trying to get over the
entire relationship, but keeps remembering the good things that came out of the relationship. The way
he set up his song one can already tell the emotional pain he has probably gone through. The emotion
came throughout the song when he fused a broken relationship with the act of stitching. Relationships
start to get stitched up piece by piece until the pain of a broken heart is forgotten. While in Taylor s
song Clean, her perspective comes through the various references of water. From the start of the song,
The drought was the worst, When the flowers that we d grown together died of thirst. Which
automatically references water, but also that the relationship she once had died out like flowers dying
of thirst. She references relationships fizzling out, to the point of not having the same feelings
anymore. These two songs illustrate the anger and sadness that one goes through in a relationship that
doesn t work out in the end, but once all those feelings go away, so that major changes will form in

Johnny Rockets Enter Belgium
Johnny Rocket s invades Belgium! Restaurants continue to play a significant role in the Belgian
franchise market, and their presence is increasing rapidly, with the fast food franchising market
growing at an annual rate of approximately 12%. American fast food franchising concepts, such as
standardized restaurant chains that offer a limited but popular range of dishes served in packaging for
on the spot consumption has been widely adopted. We plan to bring Johnny Rocket s to Belgium with
a twist of catering to business people, by catering lunches.

Fast food only represents about five percent of restaurant sales, which means that the Belgian fast food
sector still lags behind many of its European neighbors. As traditional eating habits change with an
increasingly diverse Belgian population, an excellent opportunity exists for American fast food
franchises to expand into Belgium.
Fast food has been able to compete with other restaurants because of their perceived fast service, clean
facilities, reliable taste and affordable prices. The most popular fast food items are hamburgers and
pizza, but Belgians are generally open to new tastes and are willing to support new fast food concepts.
The best sales prospects are products delivered to the home and office.
Restaurants, cafes and taverns, and friteries are the three basic types of Belgian establishments that
serve meals, as defined by the Royal Decree of June 13, 1984. HORECA is a trade association that
represents the interests of hotels, restaurants and cafés/bars. The Trade Association of Friteries,

intelligence . In The False Grandmother by Italo Calvino makes the claim that is good to be clever.
There are many versions of Little Red Riding hood this one specifically was written for peasants
owned by landowners in the 1600 s. First, it is important to acknowledge the representations of the
characters in the story. The child is an innocent peasant girl and the ogress is a rich landowner. The
child shows her cleverness multiple times throughout the story as she plots against the ogress who is

appearance of a young girl was essential as their goal was to attract rich nobles in order to be married

the wolf and comes across nuts, butterflies and flowers on her way to her grandmother s house. Once
Red Riding Hood gets to her grandmother s house she becomes a victim of the wolf after seducing her
to get into bed before she is gobbled up which represents her purity taken away. It is important to

Pros And Cons Of An Enrolled Agent (EA)
An Enrolled Agent (EA) is a tax professional authorized by the U.S. Government to represent
taxpayers in matters concerning the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). EAs must pass an examination
demonstrating ability or have sufficient experience as an IRS employee, as well as passing a
background check, before receiving the designation. Enrolled agents first appeared in 1884 because of
issues arising with Civil War loss claims.
EAs are not required to get a college degree. An individual with five years of taxation experience with
the IRS may apply to become an enrolled agent without taking the exam. In addition, they must

What Internal Pressures Are Impacting On The Organization
Q1 What internal pressures were impacting on the organisation in your situation, and how did the
organisation respond to those pressures?
Kaplan International is the type of company that relies its sales growth on technology. The
organisation uses a wide range of online marketing options in order to get the attention of potential
customers and create lead generation. To create leads is the term the company uses for acquiring a new
potential customers contact details that can lead to a closed deal. As web technology is the main tool
to increase sales, Kaplan International needs to improve their websites constantly by making them
more user friendly. This improvement can go from changing the website s colour to creating a new
navigation structure. And this was the challenge Kaplan International had to face two months ago,
when its growth sales report was released to web marketing and sales department managers, stating
that the sales numbers were lower than last year. According to the report the current website was not
generating as many leads as usual. This change in numbers was the result of people just clicking on
the company s website, but never filling forms in order to request further product information.
The main internal pressure Kaplan International had to confront was to increment its leads. As
technology affects most operations within Kaplan International, effective decision making was crucial
for the company s improvement. Key questions such as: How do we

Literary Analysis Of Racis Hutcheson
Phil 9029: From Natural Law to Moral Sense James Belford
Dr. Benjamin Hill
Hutcheson Secondary Literature Analysis
Francis Hutcheson s (1694 1746) account of sympathy is highly nuanced and intricate, along with his
philosophy in general. In his account of sympathy, Hutcheson proclaims a variation of disinterested
love and an actual sense of another s meaningful suffering. Many of his contemporaries within the
18th century Britain misinterpreted this account of sympathy and tried to reduce it to a psychological
egoist account. In his essay Moral Sense and Sympathy, Luigi Turco gives as account of sympathy

Hutcheson then defines internal senses as analogous senses, which are given to us by God in order to
cohabitate with others.3 Sympathy then is not merely a passion that is based off of the imagination,
but a sense no different than sight sound and touch. When we reflect, we gain a sense of pleasures in
thinking about people acting in a benevolent way, even if there is no direct benefit to us involved.4
The narrow Hobbesian account of self interest is the ultimate principle o the individual, but
benevolence is what governs us as a social body; our moral sense is the reflected sense that detects
that benevolence is virtuous.5 We can therefore find it satisfying to be virtuous without this
satisfaction being reduced to Hobbesian self interest. Hutcherson s notion of sympathy is a broader
concept that does not equate self interest and self satisfaction.
This concept of sympathy was held to be highly problematic by Samuel Clarke (1675 1729). Clarke
agrees with Hutcheson that there is some notion of disinterested moral sense that is responsible for
sympathy, yet he disagrees that this notion is enough; the pleasure from the moral sense and
anticipated divine rewards are also morally relevant features. For Clarke, the love of benevolence is
not disinterested; Sympathy actually involves a delight in the happiness of others and a misery in the

Strong Writing Evidence
Strong writing has strong support. In academic writing, a claim is my evidence did not introduce the
relevant context, making it hard to understand if the evi supported by countless pieces of evidence.
Having evidence is not enough though. The evidence must be comprehensively analyzed and
connected to the claim. In essence, each piece of evidence acts like a pillar that supports a building.
One weak pillar can cause a fatal flaw that could destroy the whole building. During Writ 1, I have felt
that my writing was weak from not truly understanding how to use evidence. In my essays about The
Garden of Forking Paths by Jorge Luis Borges, I have witnessed this misunderstanding from Professor
Esin s comments that I did not explain my evidence sufficiently. In my earlier essays, I thought
evidence could explain itself, so I did not give an in depth analysis of my evidence. That, however, is
incorrect. Each piece of evidence needs a complete introduction, analysis, and conclusion to create a
strong base for an argument. For example, In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

vague. There is no clear relation between the work and the actions of the character because the two
words are not synonymous. Thus, not defining the relation creates a problem of explaining why the
evidence is relevant to the claim. Professor Esin even commented that the reader would not
understand the evidence (Esin, 8/18/2015, 2). Essentially, I introduced the piece of evidence using but
I did not analyze or conclude anything from the piece of evidence afterwards. In terms of the building,

There is a very strong association with the phenotypic frequency of the histocompatibility antigen,
HLA B27, particularly in Caucasians. Infectious agents (e.g., Shigella from the gastrointestinal tract)
may be involved in triggering the disease. There is a strong overlap between the arthritis associated
with inflammatory bowel disease and ankylosing spondylitis. Many patients with IBD develop a

Persuasive Essay On Forgiveness
In a biblical manner, forgiveness roughly translates to letting go . Instead of holding a grudge to the
offender, we should give them pardon. In Luke 11:4, we are given the passage of: And forgive us our
sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver
us from evil. Jesus used an example of this when comparing a person seeking repayment from a debt
found in Matthew 18:23 35. Likewise, the act of forgiving does not come easy. In order to begin the
journey of forgiveness, one should first let go of any resentment towards the particular person or
situation that is causing destress. Once the resentment is gone, one can attempt to abandon the notion
of being rewarded for their loss whether financial, personal, or something else. Forgiveness also
entails benefits that can improve health and increase our progress towards living a wholesome
Christian life. Proverbs 14:30 tells us that a heart with a peace and calmness in it gives life to the body
but one with jealousy and bitterness leads to wrong desires similar to rotting bones. However, the
greatest part to forgiving others is to exemplify how God forgave us for our own sins. In order to be
forgiven by God, we must forgive people for their sins. If we fail to do this though, God will not
forgive us for our sins (Matthew 6:14 15). 2 Peter 1:10 dictates that Christians should be more eager in
making their calling and election since doing these makes sure that we will never fail. Our calling is
God s salvation for us while our election is God picking us to be saved. Since God called and elected
on us from his own glory and goodness, we must serve as examples to others by pursuing Godly
virtues while actively living in a Christian lifestyle. Numerous people struggle in letting go of their
respective past and carry on their baggage into their future. Not only does this prevent them from
growing, it prevents them from achieving a happy life. As we interact with people similar to this, we
can show them that they too can be resolved from their past issues.
Personally, I forgive pretty easily as I think holding grudges is a waste of time and does not
accomplish anything positive. However, I did have a hard time

Reflective Essay About Strength
I believe one must struggle to stumble across their strength. In order to discover strength, one must
fail, and overcome that failure to discover their strength. Strength is something that I have valued and
built within my lifetime. I am extremely family orientated and I have parents that embolden my

making our own mistakes and developing our own problem solving skills was essential in their

me to grow as a strong individual which is exactly why they let me make mistakes and solve them on

Strength Of Tensile Strength
2.1.8.4. Tensile strength:
Lightweight and normal weight concretes have similar tensile strengths, though lightweight exhibits
greater variability. The tensile strength of normal weight concrete of equal compressive strength may
vary within a wide range depending, among other parameters, on the shape and surface texture of the
aggregate. Experimental tests indicate that the tensile strength of concrete is highly variable and
ranges from a bout 8 12% of its compressive strength. The actual value depends on the type of the test
and crack propagation pattern at failure. (Ghoneim and El Mihlmy, 2008)
(Fabian, 2010), the tensile strength of concrete is important when considering cracking. For specimens
loaded under uniaxial compression, cracking parallel to the line of action of the load implies some
influence of the tensile strength of the specimens units. Depending on the load impact, tensile strength

Displacement of acoustic waves is also helpful in creating particle mobility required for separation of
particles in a static fluid volume. In batch systems, with very small samples in contact with a

Description of Research Methodology In this research we will examine the use of acoustic radiation

Further, in TSAW a wave travels through the substrate and in case of SSAW, there are 2 counter

how do we fix just one of these problems, do we come together for a common purpose or do we stand

and individuals to fix what is crumbling in our society. However, someone has to be willing to start. It
is scary to think of what our world will be like in fifteen years, especially if you are a parent who
worries if they are providing their children with the moral standards, social growth, and economical
opportunities that they could face in our society today. While it is hard to

The Symbol Of Christmas In Grecian Home
In the county of Greece, St. Nicholas is called Άγιος Βασίλης. His clothes are soaked with brine and
his beard is dripping wet. As the protector of sailors and seamen, his face is covered with perspiration
as he tries to reach sinking ships and save men from drowning.
Christmas trees are not traditional symbols in Greek homes. Rather, the symbol of Christmas in
Grecian homes is a clay bowl with a piece of wire suspended across the top. Hanging from the wire is
a sprig of basil tied around a wooden cross, and below the cross, to keep the basil fresh is a bit of holy
water.
Greek tradition says that during the twelve day period, from Christmas to the Feast of the Epiphany on
January 6th, the Killantzaroi, a type of goblin, rises from the

Differences Between Men And Women Essay
In the book it discussed three major differences in cognitive abilities between men and women. The
first having to deal with women having higher verbal abilities, the second being mathematical in
where men are higher and third being spatial abilities which also has men being higher. With the
spatial abilities though there is evidence that women have an advantage on some tasks. Cognitive sex
differences I think are more social than environmental because of things like stereotype threat in
where the person knows of the stereotype and it negatively affects their performance. In the Smith and
white 2012 study found that the performance of college women was worse on a math test when they
heard that men do better on this type of test, but men performance also declined when they heard that
Asians outperform whites. the knowledge of stereotypes has many effects on boys and girls one it
makes them not try as hard because they think it is expected of them to do worse. Yes, I believe that
real differences can be reduced through interventions. Johns et al (2005) found that women who were
informed of the potential effects of gender based stereotype threat performed better than women who
were not. This finding suggests that having explicit conversations with stigmatized students about
stereotype threat and its effects may be a simple yet highly effective intervention.

Compare And Contrast Plague Of Athens And The Plague
The Plague of Athens, taking place in 429 B.C.E., is the first mass killing plague known to historians
today. However, this doesn t mean that it wasn t as dangerous as plagues later on in history. In total
100,000 people died which is equivalent to more than one third of the Greece population. In the book
The Plague , the city of Oran is overrun by a deadly disease. In both the Plague of Athens and the
novel The Plague by Albert Camus, similarities occurred such as the diffusion of the disease, the
symptoms and causes, and the social change. In both plagues, rats played a big part in spreading the
disease. In the two separate plagues rats were one of the known reasons for the start of the plague. As
stated in an article by the New World Encyclopedia, In addition, crowding caused by the influx of
refugees into the city led to inadequate food and water supplies and an increase in insects, lice, rats,
and waste. ( Plague of Athens ). Not only were the rats spreading the disease to fellow rodents, but
they spread it to people also. This was the main reason why both plagues spread so fast. In the novel,
the rats were found before the main disease started. The author wrote, He saw a big rat coming toward
him from the dark end of the passage. It moved uncertainly, and its fur was sopping wet. The animal
stopped and seemed to be trying to get its balance, moved forward again towards the doctor, halted
again, then spun around on itself with a little squeal and fell on its

American Traditions In Ww1
As the war in Europe raged on, President Woodrow Wilson aimed to keep the United States out of the
war, and many Americans agreed. It was an American tradition to stay out of the wars of Europe, and
many people did not want to break that tradition. On August 4, 1914 Wilson formally announces the
United States neutrality, encouraging Americans to be impartial in thought as well as in action. Even
though America was neutral, several Americans sided with different countries. Many German and
Irish Americans supported the Central powers. Other Americans supported the Allies, wanting to side
with Britain. They shared a similar language, history, and culture. Slavic Americans also sided with
the Allies. To win American support, the Allied and Central

The American Dream Research Paper
The American Dream When you think of the traditional American Dream; what do you think of? Do
you think of a happy family with a very hard working father? Or do you think of a poor and unhealthy
family complete with a very hard working dad, mom, and other family members that still aren t doing
well in society? The traditional American Dream is supposed to be realistic for everyone, but is it? Is
anyone actually living the American Dream? People in the U.S are not living the American Dream
many black and white people are homeless, Latin Americans are struggling, and they re all behind
everywhere that they live. The Traditional American Dream is the idea of freedom, equality, and
opportunity that is supposedly, available to every American.

The Culture Of The Philippines
The Culture of the Philippines The Republic of the Philippines was named to honor King Philip the
second of Spain in 1543. The purpose of this paper is to have a complete understanding of the
different type culture from every country which is beneficial in knowing how much we all share or
have in common as far as race, national origin, gender, class, or religion. (Axner) When military
leaders examine the culture of the country they are in, there are six major characteristics that they
must take into consideration: 1) one must comprehend the meaning of culture; 2) identify what the
five characteristics are that define a culture; 3) describing the common culture characteristic of a
region of the world; 4) the country s physical geography; 5) any previous involvements in military
conflicts; and 6). All six of these characteristics play an important role in determining what the norms
are and why the people in that specific region are the way they are. The focus of this paper will center
on the cultural understanding and awareness of the country known as the Philippines. When looking
for a definite answer as to the meaning of culture, there are a large number of definitions that follow it.
Culture is defined as a way of life of a group of people; the beliefs behaviors, values, and symbols that
they accept, generally without thinking about them, and that are passed along by communication and
imitation from one generation to the next. (University) These factors

Figurative Language In Prophetic Literature
1)
The figurative language in prophetic literature, wisdom literature, and Lamentations all depict
feminine figures and characteristics. The prophetic literature consists of Amos, Hosea, Isiah, Jeremiah,
and Ezekiel. In these scriptures, the people of Israel are depicted as pitiless and loveless by naming the
Children of Hosea and Gomer Lo ruhamah and Lo ammi explaining them as children of whoredom .
This imagery is seen as Israel (Gomer) as a woman who has betrayed God (Hosea) through infidelity,
worshiping other Gods and procreating with other people in those religions. We see Israel as an
exposed woman for her iniquity (Hosea 2:3 9) a shaming for her transgressions as a bride. God casts
Israel out of the home for her disloyalty (Hosea ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two metanarratives are seen in the Chronicles; the importance and redemption of repentance, and the
reoccurring theme throughout the old testament, exile and return. David is the model for repentance
but there is a new story of repentance not seen in the book of Kings, Manasseh. In 2 Chronicles 33:10
13 Manasseh repents for his foreign worship and more, by building an outer wall to protect the city of
David and removed false idols to restore the altars of YHWH. The repentance of Manasseh is
completely missing in the book of Kings. Exile and return are experienced in 2 Chronicles 36:11 21,
although kings may have repented (David, Solomon, and Manasseh) it is not implied that the people
of Israel have also (2 Chronicles 34:23 24) and therefore God lets His people return to exile. The holy
places are destroyed and desecrated while the Israelites are forced again into exile. Thankfully, exile is
always followed with return and restoration. King Cyrus acknowledges the Hebrew God and rebuilds
the temple and the Israelites are free from exile once

Isaiah 53
Isaiah 53 is one of the most detailed prophecies in the Old Testament about the coming Messiah. The
first three verses begin by telling us that the Messiah will not have any splendor or attractiveness
worthy of being noticed by others. He will be a normal looking man. Starting in verse three the
description becomes worse. He is described as despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows and
acquainted with grief. The Jewish leaders expected to receive two people a man of sorrows and a
conquering King. They did not expect one person could fulfill both descriptions by appearing on two
occasions. While Christ was a man of sorrows, because He bore our griefs and carried our sorrows, it
pleased the Lord to bruise him. Through Christ

End Of Life Care Essay
How does the rural influence affect rural emergency room nurses transitioning from curative to end of
life care? Since there are limited resources in rural hospitals, it is necessary to explore the rural
influence on rural emergency room (ER) nurses transitioning from curative to end of life care
(Rolland, 2016). It was necessary to capture areas of need to best support rural nurses caring for dying
patients and their families in the rural communities. Rural populations are poorly represented in
research (Rolland, 2016). The perceptions of Rural ER Nurses concerning end of life care obstacles
has been explored. A questionnaire was used to rank obstacles. The lowest ranking obstacles were
nurses not being comfortable with caring for dying patients and or their families. Among the highest
ranking obstacles was knowing the patient or family personally. The rural nursing theory was
incorporated to identify rural influences with rural ER nurses transitioning from curative to end of life
care. The rural nursing theory highlights characteristics and dimensions unique to rural populations
and nursing in rural areas (Rolland, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Short Essay On The Impact Of Technology On Education
Today, it is easier than ever to access information. If one can read and has access to the Internet, he or
she has virtually all of mankind s knowledge at his or her fingertips, whereas only a generation ago,
one would need to go to the library if he or she wanted to learn new information. It seems that people
today take this privilege for granted, not realizing that the ability to look up on a search engine the
average height of a giraffe, for example, would have been highly coveted only fifty years ago. People
can get knowledge with less effort today, but perhaps the wide variety of sources we have access to
presents a new set of challenges. While knowledge was a coveted resource in the past, perhaps the
ability to choose the most credible source when given a wide range of options to choose from is more
coveted today and in the future. Modern technology has vastly impacted the way people participate in
school, their community, and the world at large.
Modern technology is both a hindrance and a help on a student s education. In any given classroom,
one can often find students stealthily texting their friends or scrolling through Facebook on their
cellphones. Students are fascinated by the shiny pieces of technology in their pockets, especially when
the teacher is talking about something with which they are not particularly fascinated. Although
technology can detract from the learning experience, it can also add to it. Speaking from experience, I
am not sure how I would have written my eleventh grade research paper without the Internet. My
research paper had many sources, only two of which were physical books. The Internet gave me
access to information that the library simply did not have. While it has distracted many students
(including myself) from school, it is also an essential resource for many students schoolwork.
Similar to how it affects school, technology can both inhibit and assist participation in a community.
Anyone who has ever attempted to hold a conversation with someone on their cellphone has
experienced how it inhibits participation. It seems that technology has become an escape from the real
world for many people. While modern technology can serve to distract people from those in their

Persuasive Speech Logos
No matter what discomforts and expenses you had to bear to come here, there will be seven minutes
tomorrow morning that will make you feel it was worth it, said a NASA guide to a group of guests on
the day of the rocket launch. The purpose of each of these articles have large distinctions between
each other. The first article, In Event of Moon Disaster, by William Safire, is meant to comfort the
audience. The second article, The July 16, 1969, Launch: A Symbol of Man s Greatness, by Ayn Rand,
is meant to describe the amount of happiness and pride the nation as a whole felt that day. The purpose
of these articles is also tremendously impacted by how the authors present the subject to the audience.
Because the speaker of the second article, Ayn Rand, was present in this particular occasion there is an
intimate influence on the text from the speaker. Both of these texts appeal to the audience with ethos
considering they are both prevalent people in society. The President has automatic ethos, and the
author also has ethos with her position as a novelist. On top of that both articles appeal to the audience
with logos because it is very logical that the nation would either be upset and mourning the case of a
loss, or the nation would be jubilant and elated with the successful landing on the moon. Lastly, the
articles appeal to pathos in that they trap the american hearts with either sadness or happiness. The
articles hook into the reader s emotion through talking about families mourning and using figurative
language about the image of the launch. Both of these texts are equally effective in completing their
purposes.
Furthermore, the purpose in these two articles are completely variant, but they still have similarities.
The first article, In Event of Moon Disaster, is just the President trying to comfort the American
people and maybe even those who have theoretically died. The President is reaching out and
reassuring his people that America will not give up, and that these two men were not lost in vain.
These two men willingly made a sacrifice which lead to their death, according to this speech, making
this mission unsuccessful. Even though Nixon is not the author of the speech, he adds ethos to the
speech

The, Fun Home, By Alison Bechdel Essay
Intertextuality troubles the definition of autobiography in Alison Bechdel s Fun Home. Fun Home is a
retelling of Alison Bechdel s life through the lens of her relationship with her father. However,
because of what she considers to have been his suicide, Alison is left with an incomplete picture of
who he was in life. By calling Fun Home an autobiography, Bechdel enters an autobiographical pact
with the reader that ensures that what Bechdel is telling us is the truth. However, elements out of her
control leave Bechdel unable to provide certain objective facts necessary to her narrative. As an
attempt to remedy these absences and in turn maintain the validity of her story, Bechdel uses
intertextuality to fill in the gaps of in her retelling. By overlaying masterplots of fictional narratives
over her own, the reader is able to get at an understanding of the kind of person Alison s father was. In
this way Bechdel is able to reveal things about her father that she can t prove to be true, but are
reflective enough of his life to become true. Although only referred to as autobiography in paratext,
Fun Home falls under the umbrella of narrative non fiction because it tells a true story. Abbott
reinforces this in The Cambridge Introduction to Narrative, stating that ...narrative non fiction differs
from narrative fiction in its referential function. We expect it to convey as best it can the truth of actual
events. (146). This expectation means that when a narrative is presented

Dbq Political Campaign
From the perspective of a candidate, the main goal of a political campaign is to win votes. Politicians
use campaign propaganda to help achieve that goal. There are six primary strategies used in campaign
propaganda: stacking the deck; testimonials/endorsements; plain folks; negative ads; glittering
generalities; and guilt by association/coat tailing. A campaign is measured by its effectiveness,
whether it is informative, and if it is ethical. An effective campaign wins votes; an informative
campaign gets the message out to the voters; and an ethical campaign respects the opponent and is
truthful (Campaign Propaganda Mini Q). Using these measuring sticks to evaluate the six strategies,
the most valuable (in order of strength) are: negative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bush campaigned against Michael Dukakis in the 1988 presidential election (Document D). Bush used
negative ads to influence voters into believing Dukakis, if elected, would make the country weak in
defense based on his voting patterns. Bush wanted voters to mistrust Dukakis so he could win the
election. Dukakis failed to effectively counter Bush s negative attacks. Consequently, the negative ad
strategy worked in his favor, as Bush became the 41st President of the United States. However, using
the measuring sticks as a gauge, the strategy was not ethical as it was not completely honest and was
disrespectful. Similarly, during the 1992 presidential election, Bill Clinton used the same strategy to
defeat his opponent, the incumbent George H.W. Bush (Document D). Clinton used ads that sent a
message that Bush could not be trusted because he promised no new taxes, but then raised taxes.
Using the measuring sticks, this strategy was effective as Clinton was elected over Bush; however,
Clinton was not completely honest and was disrespectful to his opponent. In the 2012 presidential
election, the incumbent Barack Obama campaigned against Mitt Romney (Document E). Both
candidates used glittering generalities to appeal to voter s emotions. Obama used Hope and Forward
and Romney used Believe in America. Neither of these catch phrases were informative as they did not
provide any real information to the voters. While the strategy may

  • 2. How The Cloud Is A Time Consuming And Ultimately... wanting to send folders and multiple documents this method can become time consuming and ultimately inefficient. There is an option to zip files when emailing however this only compresses files to a point, some are still too big. An alternate way to saving on the cloud is using Google Drive, which in reality, most students at John Paul II (or at least in my year) do not have a lot of experience with, so generally do not use it. This would be able to securely store larger files. Since we cannot work on some files within the Google interface it would require the file to be downloaded each time it needs to be updated on a different computer. This is one disadvantage which is inefficient but as Google continues to develop more file types may be editable reducing this problem. Personally I prefer the USB for larger files and transferring files in general. However an issue at our school especially within the main computing room there are issues with USB s connecting so whenever attempting to transfer data onto the school computer to work on it there is an uncertainty whether it will successfully connect or not. The benefits as mentioned above are the USB can transfer large files and load them quickly when USB is connected. An example of this is when working on the internal assessments for digital media or digital information. When working on these assignments there is often a main folder containing many sub folders with multiple files contained within them. This type of data ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Exploitation Of Women In Advertising Research Paper The exploitation of women in Ads What are the dangers for the companies to use such types of ads? What are the different reactions of men and women to this kind of ads ? Introduction The exploitation of women in the media has been part of the advertising industry since its beginning, although the level to which women have been exploited has changed drastically. Advertising is a highly visible and seemingly controversial agent of socialization (Paff, Lakner, 1997). Indeed, it appears everywhere in our lives, on television, on the internet, on busses, in our mailbox, in magazines, and now in the toilets of our favourite restaurants or nightclubs. Jean Kilbourne, one of the best known advocate of raising awareness about the exploitation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Advertising ideologically shapes our perceptions of beauty and strongly influences our ideas, attitudes and values within one s culture. Advertisers achieve this powerful and direct communication through signifying practices which gives meaning to words and images (Kang, 1997). For example, the exploitation of women is most apparent in TV beer commercials, where the promise of sex and fun is the norm (Hall, Crum, 1994). For example, the Swedish Bikini Team commercial for Old Milwaukee beer. In this commercial, large breasted blond women wearing bikinis were portrayed as fun companions brought in especially to party with very few men.. Through the exploitation of women in advertisements, this oppression leads to social problems, such the development of eating disorders by young women attempting to achieve the conditioned idea of the ideal image (Kang, 1997). A lack of identification which creates negative attitudes The notion that female products are sold from a male perspective is an important concept because it is a form of systematic male oppression, that most are aware of, yet still support and surrender to, or at the very most give minimal opposition. Visual images are especially important when influencing women s buying behavior as most readers of advertisement look at the illustration, read the headline, read the body copy, in that order (Kang, 1997). Shawn and Taylor use various symbols and imagery to illustrate what goes and comes out of leaving a relationship. Their lyrics not only contain symbols and imagery, but also both share their different views of ending a relationship. Shawn s song Stitches, talks about a teenage boy getting over his first breakup verses Taylor s song Clean, goes in the direction of a girl that went through a relationship that she cannot get over, but eventually has to in the end. These two songs have many details that correlate with the artist s personal thoughts on torn relationships. For that reason, imagery, song structure, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the chorus of the song he says, And now that I m without your kisses, I ll be needing stitches . What he means, is that it takes time to get over a relationship that once was passionate, but now broken. That once burning with love feeling that he had turned into a broken heart that s getting mended over time. Another line in the song, in which he says Needle and the thread, gotta get you out of my head . He says this line a number amount of times throughout the entire song. He s trying to get over the entire relationship, but keeps remembering the good things that came out of the relationship. The way he set up his song one can already tell the emotional pain he has probably gone through. The emotion came throughout the song when he fused a broken relationship with the act of stitching. Relationships start to get stitched up piece by piece until the pain of a broken heart is forgotten. While in Taylor s song Clean, her perspective comes through the various references of water. From the start of the song, The drought was the worst, When the flowers that we d grown together died of thirst. Which automatically references water, but also that the relationship she once had died out like flowers dying of thirst. She references relationships fizzling out, to the point of not having the same feelings anymore. These two songs illustrate the anger and sadness that one goes through in a relationship that doesn t work out in the end, but once all those feelings go away, so that major changes will form in ... Fast food only represents about five percent of restaurant sales, which means that the Belgian fast food sector still lags behind many of its European neighbors. As traditional eating habits change with an increasingly diverse Belgian population, an excellent opportunity exists for American fast food franchises to expand into Belgium. Fast food has been able to compete with other restaurants because of their perceived fast service, clean facilities, reliable taste and affordable prices. The most popular fast food items are hamburgers and pizza, but Belgians are generally open to new tastes and are willing to support new fast food concepts. • 8. What Internal Pressures Are Impacting On The Organization Q1 What internal pressures were impacting on the organisation in your situation, and how did the organisation respond to those pressures? Kaplan International is the type of company that relies its sales growth on technology. The organisation uses a wide range of online marketing options in order to get the attention of potential customers and create lead generation. To create leads is the term the company uses for acquiring a new potential customers contact details that can lead to a closed deal. As web technology is the main tool to increase sales, Kaplan International needs to improve their websites constantly by making them more user friendly. This improvement can go from changing the website s colour to creating a new navigation structure. And this was the challenge Kaplan International had to face two months ago, when its growth sales report was released to web marketing and sales department managers, stating that the sales numbers were lower than last year. According to the report the current website was not generating as many leads as usual. This change in numbers was the result of people just clicking on the company s website, but never filling forms in order to request further product information. The main internal pressure Kaplan International had to confront was to increment its leads. As technology affects most operations within Kaplan International, effective decision making was crucial for the company s improvement. Key questions such as: How do we ... • 9. Literary Analysis Of Racis Hutcheson Phil 9029: From Natural Law to Moral Sense James Belford Dr. Benjamin Hill Hutcheson Secondary Literature Analysis Francis Hutcheson s (1694 1746) account of sympathy is highly nuanced and intricate, along with his philosophy in general. In his account of sympathy, Hutcheson proclaims a variation of disinterested love and an actual sense of another s meaningful suffering. Many of his contemporaries within the 18th century Britain misinterpreted this account of sympathy and tried to reduce it to a psychological egoist account. In his essay Moral Sense and Sympathy, Luigi Turco gives as account of sympathy throughout this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hutcheson then defines internal senses as analogous senses, which are given to us by God in order to cohabitate with others.3 Sympathy then is not merely a passion that is based off of the imagination, but a sense no different than sight sound and touch. When we reflect, we gain a sense of pleasures in thinking about people acting in a benevolent way, even if there is no direct benefit to us involved.4 The narrow Hobbesian account of self interest is the ultimate principle o the individual, but benevolence is what governs us as a social body; our moral sense is the reflected sense that detects that benevolence is virtuous.5 We can therefore find it satisfying to be virtuous without this satisfaction being reduced to Hobbesian self interest. Hutcherson s notion of sympathy is a broader concept that does not equate self interest and self satisfaction. This concept of sympathy was held to be highly problematic by Samuel Clarke (1675 1729). Clarke agrees with Hutcheson that there is some notion of disinterested moral sense that is responsible for sympathy, yet he disagrees that this notion is enough; the pleasure from the moral sense and anticipated divine rewards are also morally relevant features. For Clarke, the love of benevolence is not disinterested; Sympathy actually involves a delight in the happiness of others and a misery in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Strong Writing Evidence Strong writing has strong support. In academic writing, a claim is my evidence did not introduce the relevant context, making it hard to understand if the evi supported by countless pieces of evidence. Having evidence is not enough though. The evidence must be comprehensively analyzed and connected to the claim. In essence, each piece of evidence acts like a pillar that supports a building. One weak pillar can cause a fatal flaw that could destroy the whole building. During Writ 1, I have felt that my writing was weak from not truly understanding how to use evidence. In my essays about The Garden of Forking Paths by Jorge Luis Borges, I have witnessed this misunderstanding from Professor Esin s comments that I did not explain my evidence sufficiently. In my earlier essays, I thought evidence could explain itself, so I did not give an in depth analysis of my evidence. That, however, is incorrect. Each piece of evidence needs a complete introduction, analysis, and conclusion to create a strong base for an argument. For example, In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Professor Esin even commented that the reader would not understand the evidence (Esin, 8/18/2015, 2). • 13. Persuasive Essay On Forgiveness In a biblical manner, forgiveness roughly translates to letting go . Instead of holding a grudge to the offender, we should give them pardon. In Luke 11:4, we are given the passage of: And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Jesus used an example of this when comparing a person seeking repayment from a debt found in Matthew 18:23 35. Likewise, the act of forgiving does not come easy. In order to begin the journey of forgiveness, one should first let go of any resentment towards the particular person or situation that is causing destress. Once the resentment is gone, one can attempt to abandon the notion of being rewarded for their loss whether financial, personal, or something else. Forgiveness also entails benefits that can improve health and increase our progress towards living a wholesome Christian life. Proverbs 14:30 tells us that a heart with a peace and calmness in it gives life to the body but one with jealousy and bitterness leads to wrong desires similar to rotting bones. However, the greatest part to forgiving others is to exemplify how God forgave us for our own sins. In order to be forgiven by God, we must forgive people for their sins. If we fail to do this though, God will not forgive us for our sins (Matthew 6:14 15). 2 Peter 1:10 dictates that Christians should be more eager in making their calling and election since doing these makes sure that we will never fail. Our calling is God s salvation for us while our election is God picking us to be saved. Since God called and elected on us from his own glory and goodness, we must serve as examples to others by pursuing Godly virtues while actively living in a Christian lifestyle. Numerous people struggle in letting go of their respective past and carry on their baggage into their future. Not only does this prevent them from growing, it prevents them from achieving a happy life. As we interact with people similar to this, we can show them that they too can be resolved from their past issues. Personally, I forgive pretty easily as I think holding grudges is a waste of time and does not accomplish anything positive. However, I did have a hard time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Strength Of Tensile Strength 2.1.8.4. Tensile strength: Lightweight and normal weight concretes have similar tensile strengths, though lightweight exhibits greater variability. The tensile strength of normal weight concrete of equal compressive strength may vary within a wide range depending, among other parameters, on the shape and surface texture of the aggregate. Experimental tests indicate that the tensile strength of concrete is highly variable and ranges from a bout 8 12% of its compressive strength. The actual value depends on the type of the test and crack propagation pattern at failure. (Ghoneim and El Mihlmy, 2008) (Fabian, 2010), the tensile strength of concrete is important when considering cracking. For specimens loaded under uniaxial compression, cracking parallel to the line of action of the load implies some influence of the tensile strength of the specimens units. Lab On A Chip Lab Report Introduction The research is specifically carried out on Particle Sorting using the interplay between the Travelling Surface Acoustic Wave and the Stationary Surface Acoustic Wave. Sorting individual cells/particles of interest from a heterogeneous population has been of critical importance in biological studies and clinical applications, such as single cell sequencing, rare cell isolation, and drug screening. The introduction of lab on a chip (i.e., small sized analytical devices) has spurred steadily increasing interest and research efforts in the microfluidics discipline (upon which lab on a chip devices are based). Displacement of acoustic waves is also helpful in creating particle mobility required for separation of particles in a static fluid volume. In batch systems, with very small samples in contact with a substrate, separation has been shown using acoustic streaming in droplets, in an open chamber and in a channel. SAW is generated by a spatially periodic electrical field to create a resonant condition on a piezoelectric substrate. Further, in TSAW a wave travels through the substrate and in case of SSAW, there are 2 counter propagating wave. We will utilise both TSAW and SSAW; the former acts to push the particles across the chamber, the latter to capture particles in bands of minimum force potential. Now that we are well into the new Millennium society has begun to recognize serious concerns with issues that kids have to deal with today. The first having to deal with women having higher verbal abilities, the second being mathematical in where men are higher and third being spatial abilities which also has men being higher. With the spatial abilities though there is evidence that women have an advantage on some tasks. Cognitive sex differences I think are more social than environmental because of things like stereotype threat in where the person knows of the stereotype and it negatively affects their performance. In the Smith and white 2012 study found that the performance of college women was worse on a math test when they heard that men do better on this type of test, but men performance also declined when they heard that Asians outperform whites. the knowledge of stereotypes has many effects on boys and girls one it makes them not try as hard because they think it is expected of them to do worse. Yes, I believe that real differences can be reduced through interventions. Johns et al (2005) found that women who were informed of the potential effects of gender based stereotype threat performed better than women who were not. This finding suggests that having explicit conversations with stigmatized students about stereotype threat and its effects may be a simple yet highly effective intervention. However, this doesn t mean that it wasn t as dangerous as plagues later on in history. In total 100,000 people died which is equivalent to more than one third of the Greece population. In the book The Plague , the city of Oran is overrun by a deadly disease. In both the Plague of Athens and the novel The Plague by Albert Camus, similarities occurred such as the diffusion of the disease, the symptoms and causes, and the social change. In both plagues, rats played a big part in spreading the disease. In the two separate plagues rats were one of the known reasons for the start of the plague. As stated in an article by the New World Encyclopedia, In addition, crowding caused by the influx of refugees into the city led to inadequate food and water supplies and an increase in insects, lice, rats, and waste. ( Plague of Athens ). Not only were the rats spreading the disease to fellow rodents, but they spread it to people also. This was the main reason why both plagues spread so fast. In the novel, the rats were found before the main disease started. The author wrote, He saw a big rat coming toward him from the dark end of the passage. • 30. Short Essay On The Impact Of Technology On Education Today, it is easier than ever to access information. If one can read and has access to the Internet, he or she has virtually all of mankind s knowledge at his or her fingertips, whereas only a generation ago, one would need to go to the library if he or she wanted to learn new information. It seems that people today take this privilege for granted, not realizing that the ability to look up on a search engine the average height of a giraffe, for example, would have been highly coveted only fifty years ago. People can get knowledge with less effort today, but perhaps the wide variety of sources we have access to presents a new set of challenges. While knowledge was a coveted resource in the past, perhaps the ability to choose the most credible source when given a wide range of options to choose from is more coveted today and in the future. Modern technology has vastly impacted the way people participate in school, their community, and the world at large. Modern technology is both a hindrance and a help on a student s education. In any given classroom, one can often find students stealthily texting their friends or scrolling through Facebook on their cellphones. Students are fascinated by the shiny pieces of technology in their pockets, especially when the teacher is talking about something with which they are not particularly fascinated. Although technology can detract from the learning experience, it can also add to it. The Internet gave me access to information that the library simply did not have. Similar to how it affects school, technology can both inhibit and assist participation in a community. Persuasive Speech Logos No matter what discomforts and expenses you had to bear to come here, there will be seven minutes tomorrow morning that will make you feel it was worth it, said a NASA guide to a group of guests on the day of the rocket launch. The purpose of each of these articles have large distinctions between each other. The first article, In Event of Moon Disaster, by William Safire, is meant to comfort the audience. The second article, The July 16, 1969, Launch: A Symbol of Man s Greatness, by Ayn Rand, is meant to describe the amount of happiness and pride the nation as a whole felt that day. The purpose of these articles is also tremendously impacted by how the authors present the subject to the audience. Because the speaker of the second article, Ayn Rand, was present in this particular occasion there is an intimate influence on the text from the speaker. Both of these texts appeal to the audience with ethos considering they are both prevalent people in society. The President has automatic ethos, and the author also has ethos with her position as a novelist. On top of that both articles appeal to the audience with logos because it is very logical that the nation would either be upset and mourning the case of a loss, or the nation would be jubilant and elated with the successful landing on the moon. Lastly, the articles appeal to pathos in that they trap the american hearts with either sadness or happiness. The articles hook into the reader s emotion through talking about families mourning and using figurative language about the image of the launch. Both of these texts are equally effective in completing their purposes. Furthermore, the purpose in these two articles are completely variant, but they still have similarities. The first article, In Event of Moon Disaster, is just the President trying to comfort the American people and maybe even those who have theoretically died. The President is reaching out and reassuring his people that America will not give up, and that these two men were not lost in vain. • 32. The, Fun Home, By Alison Bechdel Essay Intertextuality troubles the definition of autobiography in Alison Bechdel s Fun Home. Fun Home is a retelling of Alison Bechdel s life through the lens of her relationship with her father. However, because of what she considers to have been his suicide, Alison is left with an incomplete picture of who he was in life. By calling Fun Home an autobiography, Bechdel enters an autobiographical pact with the reader that ensures that what Bechdel is telling us is the truth. However, elements out of her control leave Bechdel unable to provide certain objective facts necessary to her narrative. As an attempt to remedy these absences and in turn maintain the validity of her story, Bechdel uses intertextuality to fill in the gaps of in her retelling. By overlaying masterplots of fictional narratives over her own, the reader is able to get at an understanding of the kind of person Alison s father was. In this way Bechdel is able to reveal things about her father that she can t prove to be true, but are reflective enough of his life to become true. Although only referred to as autobiography in paratext, Fun Home falls under the umbrella of narrative non fiction because it tells a true story. A campaign is measured by its effectiveness, whether it is informative, and if it is ethical. Consequently, the negative ad strategy worked in his favor, as Bush became the 41st President of the United States. Clinton used ads that sent a message that Bush could not be trusted because he promised no new taxes, but then raised taxes.
