This document provides information on the Biodiversity course offered by the Faculty of Basic Industries and Soil Sciences. The course introduces students to biodiversity with an emphasis on species diversity. It examines the diversity of prokaryotes, plants, and higher animals at different taxonomic levels. Students will learn about the characteristics, adaptations, relationships, and interactions with the environment of different organism groups. The importance of these organisms will also be discussed, particularly agrobiodiversity. Emphasis is placed on conservation and sustainable use of agrobiodiversity for commercial, food security, and climate change impacts on agriculture.
