SINOPSIS (SYNOPSIS):
This course will expose the students to the aspects that are related to the field of
biochemistry as well as microbiology. In biochemistry, the discussion will be focused on
the basic cell structure and the macromolecules of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and
nucleic acids and also on their building blocks such as amino acids, fatty acids and
monosaccharides. The metabolism, control and biosynthesis will also be discussed.
In microbiology, the emphasis will be given to the biology of microorganisms, their
importance and involvement in industrial processes, agriculture, environment and
medicine. The skill aspect will be emphasized through hands-on lab practicals especially
in the basic biochemical analysis and techniques in maintaining microorganisms.
MATLAMAT (GOALS):
The goal of this course is to expose the students to a few field that related to biochemistry
and microbiology.
OBJEKTIF (OBJECTIVES):
Apabila mengikuti dan melaksanakan kursus ini, pelajar diajar :
1) Understand the fundamental concepts of biochemistry and microbiology;
2) Understand the concepts related to cells and molecules;
3) Understand the importance of microorganisms in various industries;
4) Have the basic skills and techniques in the biochemical analysis and maintaining
microorganism.
HASIL PEMBELAJARAN (LEARNING OUTCOMES):
Di akhir kursus, pelajar dapat:
(1) Define the knowledge in biochemistry and microbiology. (C1)
(2) Explain the concept of metabolisme and rection in the cell. (C2)
(3) Discover knowledge in biochemistry and microbiology in order to used in
industry. (C3)
(4) Relate the knowledge and information in biochemistry and microbiology.( P1)
