Editor's Notes

  • #5 Our school organises several events.
  • #6 The day of freshmen (ninth-graders): It is still in August when freshmen are introducted to their form-masters and participate in humours games. The week of freshmen: This week they have to do different types of funny things like dancing and singing and have to wear funny clothes.
  • #7 Graduates are celebrated on a prom event, when their families and friends with their teachers watch their performance. This day their form-masters pin up a ribbon as a symbol of entering the adulthood. Then they sing and dance for long hours.
  • #8 There is a ball for the graduates where only the graduates and the teachers take part. Students are served dinners and they have lots of fun. In the end a video is shown by the students. During the serenade the students go to the houses of their teachers, sing them and the teachers serve them dinner in return.
  • #9 There was a special event last year. We said goodbye to our seniors and the seniors from 1972 because they repeated the ceremony after forty years. Also ,we awarded five teachers the title of eternal teachers of BGSSoE. Even some of our partners from Switzerland came to see this uncommon event of ours.
  • #10 Here are some pictures about the ceremony 1. The headmaster opens his welcoming speech. 2. Here is a haversack of a senior student. 3. The seniors are releasing the balloons
  • #11 Peter Swoboda one of our honoured Comenius partners became a honorary teacher of BGSSoE and he recieved a BGSSoE tie.
  • #12 Everyone can recognise a BGSSoE uniform. We wear this uniform since the very beggining of our school history. We wear it with pride and confidence.
  • #13 In Hungary compulsory education begins at the age of 6 when children have to start elementary school. It lasts for 8 years. The standards of education are laid down in the Public Education Act. In secondary schools students can choose between grammar schools and vocational schools. There is a written entrance exam before applying to any school. Admission depends on how many points you get for your written exam plus your last two years marks in the primary school. We are required to go to school till the age of 16.
  • #16 Hódos Imre wrestling champion , in 1952 he won the title of champion in the Olympics of Helsinki. In Naples he achieved to get the silver-medal. He retired after the Olympics in Rome. One of the institutions in Debrecen is named after him.
  • #17 Járai Zsigmond , during his career , he was nominated as the chairman of the Hungarian exchange market, the minister of finance, the president of the Hungarian National Bank (MNB) and the president of the budgetary committee , he resigned from this position on the 10th of January 2012.Quite the career, right?
  • #18 Kovács László Iván, one of our fallen revolutioner heroes of the revolution in 1956. For some political reason, he was not admitted to the university of law. He took part in several protests. Because of his acts against oppression, he was executed.
  • #19 BGSSoE since 2003 took part in 5 projects. Participating countries: Germany,France,Italy,Poland,Sweden,Turkey. Project meetings we went to : Tarragona three times, Paris once, Fürth it is second time, Göteborg once, Siedlice once and even in Italy. Our exchange project is with the Swiss school 7 years old.
