The Hypocrisy of Humanity Depicted in Harper Lee’s To...
Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird, has many stories from Scouts little town in Alabama that
teaches the reader the good and bad sides of the human being. When all these come together, the
result is this fantastic novel. One of the stories that stand out is the one when Mrs. Gates and
Cecil Jacobs have a conversation in the classroom. They talk about Adolph Hitler and the
malicious things he did to the Jewish people. Mrs. Gates tries to tell her students that what he
did was wrong in a very firm tone of voice. At this point in the story, the reader feels anger for
everything the Nazis did. However, the main point of this passage is to make the reader realize how
two faced Mrs. Gates is.
In this novel, Harper Lee implies that humanity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Underneath this paragraph, a picture shows how the celebrity, who is riding the private jet, is being
hypocritical about his actions even though he does not seem to notice that he is harming the
environment. This picture was meant to be for Al Gore, director of the World Famous documentary
An Inconvenient Truth. This documentary show cases the effects that polluting gases have in
wildlife and natural catastrophes around the world. The whole point behind this picture is to
show the hypocrisy of Al Gore. He wishes to convince great audiences around the world to
change their way of living and to strive to be better to help save the environment. The paradox,
is that how can he teach one thing, if he is not going to do it? At his conferences, he tells the
public to stop polluting the world and try to make a difference in order to reduce the amount of
carbon dioxide there is in the atmosphere. However, he is not a good example when he comes off
the stage and one looks at his real life. The picture shows the truth about him and the environment.
The luxury his life style requires damages a lot to the environment. He truly states, ``I m here to
talk about global warming and reducing energy usage``. One can perceive that both of the vehicles
he is using to transport him self, are the most fuel inefficient there has ever been in our century. The
artist has drawn exactly what happened in Sunday, August 26, 2007 in

Investigating The Concentration Of A Hydrochloric Acid A...
The objective of the lab was to prepare standardize solution (titrant: NaOH) of sodium hydroxide,
and to determine the concentration of a hydrochloric acid and KHP solution using acid‐base
titration. Standardization is the process of determining the exact concentration (molarity) of a
solution. The molarity (M) of a solution is used to represent the amount of moles of solute per liter
of the solution. Titrationis one type of procedure often used in standardization process. A titration is
a technique where a solution of known concentration is used to determine the concentration of an
unknown solution.
In a titration, an exact volume of one substance(NaOH) was reacted with a known amount of
another substance (HCl). The point at which the reaction was complete in a titration is referred to
as the endpoint. We recognized a solution which reached the endpoint: when we saw a solution
completely turned into pink color. A chemical substance known as an indicator was used to indicate
the endpoint. An indicator is a substance that undergoes a distinct observable change (pink color)
when conditions in its solution change. The indicator we used in this experiment was
phenolphthalein because Phenolphthalein is a weak acid. The weak acid is colourless and its ion is
bright pink. And the solution turned pink when we added a basic solution (NaOH) into the solution
because adding hydroxide ions removes the hydrogen ions from the equilibrium which replace them

I. HARDWARE IMPLEMENTATION: A. Power Supply First power comes from 240v,59 Hz
Ac supply. We cannot apply those power directly to Arduino. Because capacity of Arduino is 5v

to convert AC current to Dc current. The block diagram is shown below. B. Arduino Arduino Uno

ATmega328P (datasheet). There are 14 pins for doing the input output operations. There are also
various other buttons like the reset button the USB connector. We can connect it to the computer
and can program. You can tinker with your UNO without warring too much about doing something

Squatter By Thomas King Summary
The idea of a home is a broad one that has very different ways of responding to it. This is the way
of thinking that to writers use in their short stories. For the writers, the way they view home is
one of identity and culture. While these two themes are positive the writers show how they get
people in trouble with law and day to day life. In the short story borders by Thomas King, the
concept of home is illustrated on the focuses on the nationality and identity of a person rather than
the place they call home. The viewpoint of the home creates a diverse idea in which a home is not
where one lives but who the view themselves as. This is seen I the interaction of the mother and the
border patrol over who she claims her citizenship as. citizenship ? Blackfoot, my mother told him
(pg. 257). This starts an altercation between the mother and the patrol officers in which Blackfoot is
not a citizenship but still an identity of home. This the way mother identifies her sense home in

The transformation of home or heritage can be one of the hardships as the usual and accepted
become wrong and unacceptable, this sequentially leads to the embarrassment of a person s own
identity. This is seen in the way that Sarosh asks for help from immigration. It s a different kind
of problem. I ... I don t know how to explain ... it s an immigration related problem (pg.309). the
reality of having the lifestyle of a person being a problem to be ashamed of reflects that their
home is in away wrong. At the same time, this is a choice that is made as a person creates a new
home. The old ways and beliefs are in a sense never lost to the new home but instead, they are
used as building blocks and promises to the residents of the old home. The contrast of both stories
is seen by the same defining theme that is seen in the

A Brief Summary Of Documentar Documentary Films
Smith was able to narrative a story of a filmmaker as he struggled with his addiction of drugs and
alcohol. He also captured how Borchardt s best friend fixed his alcohol addiction by adopting a
new addiction, gambling. His friend wanted to make money so he could help fund the short films
that were in production. The main subjects seemed as they were actors because they were so
different that it felt almost fake. Smith also showed Borchardt s obsession with creating and
finishing a short horror film. Borchardt consistently talked about how badly he needed to finish
Coven throughout the documentary. He does get the video done because he was also obsessed
with finishing his project in order to get money for his next project. He was so obsessed to get
his film done he asked his dying uncle Bill for money continuously. After his uncle passed away
he left him money in his will so Borchardt could finish Northwestern. Borchardt did everything he
could in order to finish the film. Even though it seemed as if he had a drinking problem he was
still able to complete a product he was happy about. Borchardt is still making short films today
including movies like Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever and Hamlet: A. D. D. but none have been very

Most of the first one reel films could be considered experimental projects because recording an
event was new. Over the years the filmmaker s intention and approach changed as society and taste
changed. Rachman (1997) has done a great deal of research on obsession and stated that they are
unhealthy. He stated, obsessions are caused by catastrophic misinterpretations of the significance of
one s unwanted intrusive thoughts. By deduction, any increase in such interpretations will produce

Selma Alabama Dbq Analysis
I gave a little blood on that bridge in Selma, Alabama for the right to vote. I m not going to stand
by and let the Supreme Court take the right to vote away from us [African Americans] John
Lewis. Within 100 years, African Americans overcame many obstacles such as paying poll taxes,
passing multiple tests, and violence to be able to vote. They had to pay taxes, such as poll taxes.
They also had to pass multiple tests, such as the Property and Literacy tests. Violence was also
an obstacle African Americans had to face in order to vote. First of all, African Americans had to

Essay On News Consumption
Background and Research Question Survey questions and questionnaires can always be improved
upon. This can be done through changing the wording of the question, choosing a different
response scale for the question, or reordering the questions in the questionnaire. There are various
ways to find out if a survey questionneeds revision, such as identifying grammar and concept errors
in the question using specific techniques, or conducting in depth interviews to find out if survey
respondents have any issues in answering the survey questions. I will be using questions about
news consumption provided by Pew Research Center(Pew) to show how questionnaire improvement
can be done. The questions about news consumption were implemented by Pew to... Show more

I will use a few different methods. One method is by using the Problem Classification Coding
Scheme (CCS). The CCS is a process to test for issues in the question answering processes. It is a
series of 28 questions that go through each stage of answering a survey question. It tests to see if
there are any issues in any of the states of answering a question (Schaeffer and Dykema,
2011:919). Another method is to the Question Understanding Aid (QUAID). QUAID is a
mechanism to test for issues in wording of a survey question, such as vague words or question
length or even grammatical issues. The goal of QUAID is to ensure that each question is
grammatically correct, and easy for the respondent to comprehend (Schaeffer and Dykema, 2011,
921). A third method and last method is to use cognitive interviews. Cognitive interviews are
small group discussions to talk about issues or topics to help in the process of writing survey
questions and making the survey process go quicker (BCB, 2014:434). All three methods will be
used for questionnaire improvement. For the cognitive interviews, two interviews were done with
people I knew. A summary about the people interviewed is presented in Table 1.
Analysis
After conducting the cognitive interviews and using the CCS and QUAID, there are a few
problems present. For each question, the reference period is vague. The preamble asks for general
news habits. This is a problem since general could have very different meanings

The California s Prison System
California s prison system is facing a number of infrastructure changes as a result of a judicial
decision that came down from the United States Supreme Court, Governor of California et al v.
Plata et al. California s prison system was deemed inadequate and dangerous due to severe
overcrowding which led to needless suffering and death (Rogan, 2012, 262). The court ruled that
the State must reduce the number of inmates in California s thirty three state prisons. This ruling
came about after two class action lawsuits were filed, Coleman v. Wilson in 1990 and Plata v.
Davis in 2001 (Rogan, 2012, 261). These lawsuits were filed by inmates that claimed they received
poor medical and mental health care within the State s prisonhealth care system (Vicini, 2011,1).
The evidence presented in these cases showed several shortcomings in California s prison health
care system (Rogan, 2012, 264).
These shortfalls were a result of severe overcrowding within California s thirty three state
prisons. At its peak in 2006, California s prisons were filled with approximately 172,000
inmates. However, these prisons were designed to hold about 80,000 individuals (Vicini, 2011, 3).
At that point, State prisons were filled at 215% over capacity. Because of overcrowding, prison
inmates faced chronic and severe shortages in basic medical and mental health care services
(Vicini, 2011, 1). Despite attempts by the CDCR and the legislature to reduce the prison population
between 2006 and 2011, the

The Importance Of Public Human Resource Management
Public Human Resources Management operations include four fundamental functions that reflect
the activities needed to manage HR. those functions are symbolized by the acronym PADS
(planning, acquisition, development, and sanction) which is used in public, private, and non profit
organizations. Among with those fundamental functions, HR management is strongly influenced
by the four traditional values linked to the four traditional public systems (political responsiveness
/representation patronage/spoils system, efficiency civil service, employee rights civil service
merit, and social equity affirmative action). Though those functions, values, and systems, HR
management reflects the interactions between political influence and public agencies as well as
public organization s level of responsiveness to the citizens needs through effective and efficient
delivery of goods and services. The structure of Little Elm HR department is based on those
concepts and follows the same PADS functions: planning procedures on HR activities based on the
available budget and political influence; acquiring new employees through internet and their own
website applications; development (increasing the employees willingness to perform well) by
training employees on their duties; and finally the sanctioning of employees whom does not fit on
their atmosphere of serving the public. The HR director, Mrs. Deidre Hale proudly presented their
four core values: customer service, integrity, efficiency,

The American Filipino War And The Filipino Revolution Essay
The American Filipino war, the Filipino Revolution, the Filipino Insurrection, whatever name
you give to the armed conflict between America and the Philippines that occurred at the end the
eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth century, it happened and it stays as a
footnote on both America s history and the Philippines history. This war, or how my friend
humorously called it, A chain of war atrocities , ended in the Americans favor. However, the
question stands, did the Filipino forces ever stand a chance against the Americans? Also, did the
Filipino war help the Filipinos get what they wanted all along, Filipino Independence? For the
former, you have to look at the belligerents on both sides as well as their tactics along with the
reasons of why my friend called the conflict a chain of war atrocities rather than a war; for the
latter, you must instead look at the different states the Philippines was in after the war leading
up to its independence in order to find out if the American Filipino war acted as a factor.
Philippines for a long time could be considered the Russia of the Pacific. Nations just kept on
coming to conquer them. However, unlike Russia, the Philippines failed to keep its independence
every single time. After America, Japan came and took over for a while. Before America, the
Spanish occupied the Philippines. Ferdinand Magellan was a Portuguese explorer who had a

Mr. Frank Gilbreth, Sr. once said, There is no waste in the world that equals the waste from

Differences Between Feminist Theology And Christian Theology
If one were to ask ten modern day theologians to define the word theology, it is likely that they
would hear ten different answers. Even within the various types of theology, for example, Christian
theology, there are a wide spectrum of attitudes and beliefs. Even more so, if one were to compare
evangelical theologywith feminist theology, the differences would add up quickly. Two modern day
theologians, Stanley Grenz and Catherine Keller, well known in their respective fields, have
approached their theology from different backgrounds. The most obvious is the difference in
gender. However, their theological methodologies, the definition, and nature of their theological
goals and their approach to being biblically faithful are vastly different. By careful examination,
these two theologians and their specific ideologies in relating to evangelical theology and feminist
theology will influence how a person approaches their own theology.
Considered a prolific theologian, Stanley Grenz was a leader among evangelical theologians
(Warner, 2005, p. 42). Author of a multitude of books on diverse subject matters including
eschatology, ethics, Trinity, and homosexuality, Grenz initially defended his Baptist customs
(Warner, 2005). However, considered as his greatest contribution, was his ability to bridge the
evangelicals from their own world of thought to engage the larger scholarly world (Warner, 2005, p.
43). He was the first to consider postmodern thought, recognizing

In this paper the discussion goes around the main definition of social engineering and part of the
history of social engineering. Some places where social engineering could be applied and who gets
benefits out of it. These days we use social engineering a little bit differently where social
engineering can help many companies protect themselves from hackers.
Social engineering is a mix of science, psychology and art(1). Social engineering is any act that
influences a person to take an action that may or may not be in their best interest. Criminals use
social engineering tactics because it s easier to exploit our natural tendency to trust than they hack

Nowadays we use social engineering for many proposes including computer policies and many
other situations. As technology advances everyday new vulnerabilities arises all the time. In
computer word we have many vulnerabilities where social engineering can be applied. Take
baiting for instance, an attacker leaves a malware on a device, such as USB flash drive in a place he
or she knows that it will be found. When found and picked up the device the finder would load it
into their computer, accidently installing the malware. Furthermore, Baiting is one of many
ways social engineering used. Phishing on the other hand is another way social engineering is
used. Where a hacker sends a fraudulent email to pose as a legitimate email from a trusted
source. When the receiver opens the email the hacker starts to trick the recipient in sharing
personal or financial information or by asking the recipient to click on link that installs malware.
Also Pretexting is another type of social engineering where someone lies to another person to
gain access to their private data. When you get a call from someone who is pretending to be a

Liberal Democracy In Canada
When evaluating the liberal democracy or constitutional monarchy in Canada it is imperative to
identify that the Canadian governing system cannot unambiguously be either correct or incorrect.
Hence, Canada s democratic system functions well enough; nonetheless it would further benefit
from adopting a Nordic democratic socialist model as well as adopting a proportional
representation electoral system. A Nordic democratic system would benefit the citizens by
providing them with universal health care, closely similar wages, free and inexpensive education,
public pension plans, and virtually free trade. Second, if Canada is to adopt a proportional
representation system the citizens will be better represented. Despite these flaws in the liberal...

This is an often overlooked freedom because one may forget that this freedom is not a freedom
that every individual has. Specifically in many third or second world countries, people are
eradicated because of their opinions or request for freedom and reform. Something as simple as
civil disobedience has severe consequences in these countries. On the other hand, in Canada there
are little to no consequences for civil disobedience or requesting the government to change their
decision. Furthermore, in a sense the government allows pressure groups to be formed, and non
government organizations to help other s lives. Additionally, courts in Canada are open to those
who wish to challenge the laws. Finally, the media is not censored for those who wish to promote
their beliefs. In many totalitarian countries, people are unknowingly snatched of the right to think

We can measure a countries production based on GDP, PPP numbers. In terms of GDP, PPP the

GDP, PPP rankings you see huge nations like the US and China, while on a per capita basis you
see rather small countries with great output like Qatar or Singapore. There is a vast difference in
the countries on the list as not one country is placed on both lists. The main reason is due to
population size. GDP per capita is measured by dividing GDP by total population. Thus, the

The most apparent convergences are between Canada, France, and Japan. You see the great rise

had very high ratio s. Japan converged with Canada in 1990 where Canada s economy to the US
was beginning to the decline, while Japan was keeping up with the US and even surpassing a
1.0 ratio. Meaning they had a higher GDP per capita than the US. On the other hand, Chile has
been diverging from countries like India, and Algeria. Starting in the early 1990 s Chile s
economy was fully revamped into capitalism with open borders that helped the country s
economy. Thus, their ratio they began diverging away from the norm and upper ward. India s

Algeria converged many times. However, as those early 200 s happened you can see how the
ratio was effected by the technological and outsourcing wave that influenced India but not
Algeria. India s ratio came closer to the US while Algeria remained sluggish. In terms of 1970

Big Dat An Essential Part Of Every Business Operation
Introduction:
You may have heard the term Big Data often these days and the importance of analytics attached to
it. The availability of good data set and analytics of it provide organizations ability to understand
consumer behavior and future prospects. This has now become an essential part of every business
operation. Data itself is not a new thing to humans, written records have been in existence since 4th
millennium BC. What has changed recently is that with digital inventions and significant growth in
internet access, most people are on the electronic grid for longer periods and spending lot of time
on emails, messaging, entertainment and social media applications. This huge growth in data
generation has given birth to the concept of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For most organizations, data analysis is a challenging task, as first it require dealing with both
structured and unstructured forms of data. Then an organization may have to deal with data
stored across many separate silos (as various groups such as sales marketing; operations and
supply chain management etc., may have separate IT systems). It is also quite possible that most
of the silo systems do not talk to each other, this is especially true of the legacy platforms which
may have technical challenges in connecting to each other or may require use of special software
interfaces. Lastly the volume of data is large to process and the traditional tools may not be
effective to do such analysis. To handle various types of data (structured and unstructured) and large
data volumes, many vendors have developed specialized software which can perform predictive
analysis, data mining, forecasting and optimization. Together these tools are referred to as high
performance analytics.
In comparison to the traditional business intelligence, big data does provide major improvements.
Traditional business intelligence is top down approach whereas big data is bottom up and
empowers end users with a valuable analysis thus enabling them to take prompt and smart
business decisions. The value generated from big data analytics is applicable to all sectors. The
advantages of big data analytics are huge but it also raise serious concerns

Social Aspects Of Social Norm
A social norm that strikes my fascination is in the initial actions, responses, and facial
expressions individuals convey when greeting other people, whether a person is acknowledging
a friend, co worker, family member, or a stranger, one would think that each person would greet
everyone in somewhat the same manner due to the nature of one s personality and regardless of
their relationship to that individual. I had the assumption that when people have a very bubbly
and outgoing personality they would greet everyone in the same vivacious way. Likewise, when

stranger, I figured they would be more shy and quiet in their responses. So what I wanted to do
was count to three out loud before saying, Hello back to my friends, co workers, family members,

social norm I chose to break was failing to respond directly to a persons greeting in the normal
response rate and additionally counting out loud to three before replying.
To get a fairly accurate conclusion of my findings, I responded to sixteen greetings in this
peculiar way. I gathered the reactions from four friends, four co workers, four family members

the twelve individuals I know personally, all of their personalities vary in the

Assembling In The Iliad

Assembling in The Iliad
(Holding councils of war or holding assemblies) Every great war in history has been determined,
to some extent, by the powerful strategies executed by one party of the war. These strategies ,
most of the time, are not the brainchild of one individual, but more or less a group of people
collaborating toward one strategy effective enough to turn the tides of battle. The most effective
way for important leaders to voice their opinions for their next endeavor is achieved through the
use of assemblies. Assemblies were very important to the armies in the Trojan War
, as both sides
had great power, meaning that cunning strategy would be the winning factor for one of the
parties involved in the Trojan War. However, assemblies held during the Trojan War were more
one sided toward the authoritative figures rather than a true collaboration between leaders and
wise men. These assemblies follow a simple pattern: a leader calls out to the army to form an
assembly when he sees it fit; then, the leaders and wise men then collaborate and voice their
opinions on the matter at hand; and finally, the figure with the highest authority in the assembly
decides what to do next as a result of the assembly. The assembly begins with an important leader
calling for one when he sees it fit to form one. For example, an assembly was called by Achilles
due to concerns from the plague in Book 1; it was revealed that

Dengue Fever Personal Statement
I grew up in a family of doctors and engineers so my interests were naturally shaped around the
sciences. However, my dad was the black sheep of the family who decided to pursue business. I
remember listening to his phone calls about product development, marketing and accounting and
although at the age of eight I had no idea what he was talking about, he gradually pulled my
interests into the world of business. In a way, I could say I had the best of both worlds.
Although I was often told that studying science and business was unfocused and unnecessarily
challenging, I disagreed completely. I was engrossed in dissections, the immune system and
neurology during biology and the colorful yet sometimes dangerous experiments during chemistry.

Living in the tropical island of Sri Lanka meant heavy exposure to mosquitoes and Dengue fever is
a horrifying yet rather common disease that most Sri Lankans suffer from at least once in their
lifetime. I remember when it was my turn. I was diagnosed at a time where dengue fever was at
a peak high in Sri Lanka and my parents struggled to find me a room at a hospital because so
many patients were admitted due to dengue fever. Although I was fortunate enough to find a room
eventually, I remember passing the children in the hospital hallways who could not find a vacant
room. Why don t people understand that there is a huge demand for better healthcare that isn t
being met? I thought. As I lay in my bed surrounded by the four white walls of my room, I realized
that this was only in Colombo, where most people had access to healthcare. Imagine the dengue
patients in other areas of Sri Lanka, poverty stricken areas. They did not have access to
healthcare in their regions. Although I felt lucky enough to have a bed to sleep on and doctors at
my footstep, I could not sleep peacefully at night knowing that somewhere in a shanty town,
another girl like me could be suffering from dengue fever too but she is probably sleeping on the

The Matrix By The Wachowski Brothers
Just what is The Matrix? This is the question that the extremely entertaining and absurdly
thought provoking movie The Matrix, by The Wachowski Brothers, hopes to answer. How can
we know that WE don t live in the Matrix? That is the question that the movie hopes that we can
answer for ourselves. The movie opens with the apparent double life of Thomas Anderson.
Thomas Anderson works a normal job as a computer programmer, but spends his free time as a
freelance hacker known by the name of Neo. He is contacted one day by the team of the
Nebuchadnezzar, a ship in the real world full of a crew that has been pulled from the Matrix. After

Not the movie the Matrix, but the Matrix in the movie, The Matrix. The Matrix is pulls on the
problem of perception. Humans are grown in fields, harvested, and then their brains are hooked
up to a machine that simulated life while their energy is harvested. The problem is however,
when your senses are being perfectly spoofed and you are in a near perfect simulation of the
world you will not know that you are not living the real life. The movie makes some interesting
parallels to the idea of dreams. We have all had those dreams that seemed very real when they
happened, only to wake up the next day and think about how ridiculous they were. The idea of the
Matrix is to be close enough to the real world that the human mind doesn t catch on. This raises an
interesting question though. If the humans are really grown and harvested and the Matrix is the
only thing that they ever know, why did the Matrix have to simulate the reality that did exist.
Would it not be equally possible for the simulated Matrix to be completely different in physical
laws and color spectrum and general makeup from the world that humans are accustomed too? The
Matrix was extremely successful, in my experience, with illustrating this problem that we have. In
the movie, there was someone there to clue the main character into the fact that he was being
deceived, and there was an easy way out the real world was but a phone

Siege Of Tobruk Essay
How the Siege of Tobruk Influenced and Shaped the Outcome of World War Two Now this is not
the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.
(Churchill, 1942) After months of incongruity between British and American war planners
regarding the viability of a cross channel invasion in 1940, the Americans accepted the British
strategy and approved the North African Campaign. It included campaigns fought in the Libyan
and Egyptian deserts, where one of the lesser known battles of World War II was fought by a
small yet valiant force of Australians in the North African port city of Tobruk. Not only did Tobruk
facilitate access to one of the greatest ports on the North African shoreline, it helped... Show more

Also, in the insightful and detailed words of Mark Owens, if the Axis had managed to seize Tobruk
in 1941, there may have been a crisis where the Axis could ve threatened Britain s positioning in
both Egypt and the Middle East (Owens, 2016). The Germans would ve controlled the waters
around the port, allowing them to supply provisions such as oil, food and weaponry to men on the
offensive. In this regard, the German penetration and Iraqi Rebellion would ve continued to
infiltrate the area, giving them control over the Mediterranean and granting them a foothold in the
war. Therefore, the Allies stake in Tobruk allowed them to gain access to one of the greatest ports
on the Mediterranean, ultimately giving them the upper hand over the Axis. The Siege of Tobruk
helped boost morale, which enabled the initial capture of Tobruk, before ultimately assisting the
Allies in their success. The Germans likened the fighting style of Australians to that of rats, with the
hopes that this propaganda would express supreme confidence, reassuring the Australians of their
defeat. Convictcreations, who entertain an Ally perspective, declare that the Nazis discovered that,
Germans responded to words of optimism and success with great heart ; so they employed a similar
tactic against the Australians, but in a destructive manner (Convictcreations Thieves of The

Book Of Judges Jesus Comparison
One of the most interesting things to me in the book of Judges, are the parallels between the men
and woman, and Jesus. What they were called to do, what they did, and the consequences of those
actions foreshadowed what occurred with Jesus (Clowney, 2013, p. 141, 146 147). Albeit Jesus
was perfect, and perhaps that contrast is another lesson that we are to learn. Samson was blessed
from birth to be an instrument of God. His weakness and immorality caused him many problems,

the Israelites out from under the Philistines. Regardless of Samson s faults, with the help of The

Taxing Dilemma Case Study
Introduction
The taxing dilemma case study is the case that shows two different considerations of two assistants
of the deputy director of the state s budget and planning, Jill Scot, about an idea of eliminating
personal income tax in the state (Fenske, n.d.).
Background
Jill Scott is the deputy director of one of the states, and she worked in the public sector for six
years. One day, she was called in the office of the director to make a study about the idea of
eliminating personal income tax in the state. She had no idea of what to do even if her boss called
this activity a significant work.
Scott had no idea about what to do. As a result, she directly called the meeting with her two
assistants to conduct a study about what could be the result of the idea if implemented. She
believed her staff would offer valuable alternatives so waited to see what their views would be.
Surprisingly, the two assistants brought two different ideas. Robert Gomez, one of Scott s
assistants argued with the idea of removing personal income tax, whereas Drishti Ghosh opposed
this idea.
To support the idea, Robert showed that nine states already adopted the policy, and he showed
various considerations to support his idea. He mentioned that removing the personal income tax
would allow agencies be more efficient, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

negative effect on people. Then if it is found to be a problem, several measures should be taken

both Robert and Drishti to explore more about this topic, especially from the political perspective.
In other words, I am with the solution given by the deputy director Jill Scot concerning making a

Kate Bornstein Essay
Kate Bornstein is a Queer and Pleasant Danger was an incredible documentary. As someone who

such a wide array of topics to be covered I certainly didn t expect to hear about Scientology, but
Kate Bornstein and Sam Feder didn t seem to shy away from any aspect of the former s life. One
of the most interesting parts of the film for me involved Bornstein s interactions with presentist
queer activists through Twitter and her blog posts. She doesn t shy away from discussing how her
use of the term tranny upsets a great majority of her younger audience. In the film, Bornstein
claims that her use of tranny marks her as transphobic to plenty of queer folks. Differences
between Bornstein s perspective and modern transphobia is discussed yet again when Bornstein is
speaking with a friend who slips and uses the wrong pronouns Bornstein lightly teases them, saying
that if the wrong audience had heard him misgender her, they would have called him transphobic.

never going to be my call to make. With that in mind, though, Bornstein s insistence in regard to...

Theme Of An Outsider
The Outsiders by S.E Hinton and The Clay Marble by Minfong Ho both center around the motif
of being an outsider. The theme of both books is that you are never an outsider when you have
friends and family. This is shown through the two main characters, Dara and Ponyboy. While
they share similarities, the two are also vastly different. Dara starts her story as a very innocent
and hopeful girl. When she arrives at the refugee camp, she says I had the strange feeling that
somehow I had finally come back home on page 22. This is showing how even after she lost her
home, she still had enough hope to believe she could find a new one. She s also still a young girl.

He also starts off as The Innocent, hopeful for a better future and seeing the good in everyone.
On page 26 he says, I didn t get why we talk about girls in that way, which is showing how even
though he s tough he is still young and innocent and doesn t get why his gang talks dirty about
women Also like Dara, Ponyboy s archetype changes to The Loner or Outcast and he loses his
hope. After Johnny kills a Soc to protect him, they go on the run from the police. They hide out
in an abandoned church away from their families and society. On page 63 it says he must have
been as homesick as I was showing how Ponyboy wants to go back to his family. Again, this also
shows the theme of The Outsiders. Even though he s a greaser and on the bad side of society s
view, Ponyboy is really only an outsider when he is without his family and gang. Following
Dara, after Johnny s death, Ponyboy becomes The Hero. On page 145 the text states Yessir, I
said, I ll try. What s the theme supposed to be on? Anything you think is important enough to
write about. And it isn t a reference theme; I want your own ideas and your own experiences .
Ponyboy then writes a theme paper based on Johnny s life, letting everyone know what they ve
gone through. He has an honorable purpose, allowing him to be The Hero. Ponyboy also faces a
great deal of problems, although his are not the same as Dara s. Like her, he is also driven from
his home and placed in an intense war. Unlike her, his war is of the social classes and not
countries. While Dara must overcome her fears, Ponyboy must discover who he is as a person and

students discover the kind of information that provides a basis for creating value, (i.e., not
information about bottom line, but about interests and priorities).
5. The question about feeling vulnerable raises the issue of trust. Ask whether trust was established,
and how. Generally, trust results from the process of reciprocal information sharing, and proposals
that are responsive to information shared.
To make the job offer, either the Texoil representative must reveal information about Texoil s long

Analysis Of Franklin Delano Roosevelt Signed Into Law
Following his election in 1933, Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed into law something radical for
its time: The Social Security Act. This act changed America s economic landscape completely, by
minimizing the long existing problem of retirees and the elderly living below the poverty line.
Simply put, Social Securityis a way to guarantee that older people, namely retirees, have at least a
minimal source of income in their later years, by providing around 40 percent of the average
person s yearly income. Social Security both is and functions as a defined benefit plan, wherein
benefits are decided by the amount of quarters than a person works, and are decided by a sliding
scale with caps (United States). As directed by the sliding scale, per dollar benefits are much
higher for people of lower incomes, while overall benefit amounts are higher for those of higher
incomes (Benefit). Both the scale and the caps are adjusted yearly according to inflation. Social
Security accumulates its funds into a trust fund, and puts excess money into investments in US
Treasury Securities, where interest is accumulated and put back into the fund. Social Security s
benefits are not affected by the investments. Since 1982, the Social Security trust fund has
experienced a net increase and in 2015, the asset reserves sit at 2.8 trillion dollars (Financial).
Despite this, the misinformed often point their fingers at the trust fund and claim that it is on its
last leg, and will soon run out. Every few

The Secret Service And A Protective Security Policy
Introduction
Assassination is always a serious business. It is unfamiliar to most of us who live in liberal
democracies. The Secret Service found that assassination seems clear is that, for almost all
subjects, attacks or near lethal approaches occurred after a period of downward spiral in their
lives (Dedman, 1998). The most often motive that assassins gave for attacking a public figure
was to achieve notoriety or fame, and only a few wanted political change or acted in a group.
Other assassins wanted to end their pain by being imprisoned or to avenge a perceived wrong. In
this article, some of the incorrect stereotypes associated with assassins or near lethal approachers
who direct their activities against prominent public officials and public figures, and how these
stereotypes can create blind spots in a protective security policy.
Blind spots in a Protective Security Policy
Portraits of assassins are fixed in the American mind as the deranged madman, the lonely loser
obsessed with his target, the political killer following threats with violence. Dedman (1998) shows
that half of the assassins has mental illness symptoms, where many shifted from one target to
another, valuing the act more than the victim. Not one had communicated a direct threat to the
target or to law enforcement authorities.
Many studies found there was no set profile, although there were some patterns like histories of
social isolation, weapon use or harassing other people. Yakin (2011) discusses

Why Education Matter To Health
Having more education can result into positive things. When people get higher education they
have more opportunities in life. To support this idea I interviewed an educator and she explained
how education can be very important. She stated, Having little education limits people s choices.
They may not be able to enter a profession or trade they would like to (Kummerow). This
exemplifies the idea that more opportunities are open for people that get more education. For
instance, a person can have a better job. This is beneficial because it will result in more money

It is known that yeast can ferment sugars such as glucose, sucralose, fructose, saccharin, and
maltose but not ferment Truvia, starch, and lactose as efficiently. Simple sugars are known as
monosaccharides whereas complex sugars are polysaccharides because they are made up of
monosaccharides through dehydration reactions. A dehydration reaction occurs when a water
molecule is removed from the reacting molecule and the two molecules become covalently
bonded. Glucose and fructose are monosaccharides whereas, maltose, sucralose, starch, saccharin,
and lactose are polysaccharides. Truvia is the only sugar that is not either a monosaccharide or a
polysaccharide. All monosaccharides and polysaccharides are composed of some multiple of CH2O.
The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae was used for determining the fermentation of various sugars
because it is convenient to use and ferments quickly. Throughout the experiment, the only factor
that wasn t constant was the sugars used in the fermentation process. Based on this, it was
hypothesized that there would be differences in yeast fermentation of sugars.
Methods
2g of yeast, 2g of glucose, and 100 mL of distilled water at 40В°C were combined in a 250 mL
flask. A stir bar was placed in the flask. After the flask was gently stirred, the flask was placed on
the stir plate. Then, the stir setting was turned up to 8 slowly and stirred for two minutes. Another

The reality that countries like North Korea, Iran, and Iraq are working on ballistic missiles. And
that terrorists who fly no national flag are trying to acquire chemical and biological weapons.
George J. Tenet, June 14, 2001
I. Introduction Terrorism is far from new to nations around the world. Attacks that make the
headlines in international news occur almost daily. However, each act of terrorism provides its
own goal or objective, which may or may not have a different aim than a previous attack, which
makes the threat even more difficult to prevent. Terrorism is a concept that is hard to define, but
many government organizations and authors around the world have defined or attempted to
provide a definition of terrorism. In spite of the lack of a single definition, terrorism is commonly
referred to as a phenomenon because it is constantly evolving. This, in turn, makes terrorism even
more difficult to predict and forecast.
Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) have been a significant fear since the attacks of 9/11. Al
Qaeda s use of airplanes as a weapon became the cause of mass terror and destruction to the
American people as well as the world. The threat of Chemical, Biological,

Polish Culture Observation
Observations
Since the time of my interaction I have made more observations about the speech community
involved. My first observation that I found was that gourmet Polish deli produced a YouTube
video. The deli is called Piast Meats and Provisions Inc. and is located in northern New Jersey. Piast
Meats and Provisions Inc. created a video titled Polish Culture and it took place at a Polish
heritage festival in Holmdel, New Jersey. The video asked individuals at the festival What do you
like most about Polish culture? Many individuals in the video stated that the enjoyed Polish food,
music, people, and the language. This video helped me to better understand what Polish Americans
value from their culture of origin. Also about the amount of pride they feel for the Polish customs
and traditions.
Another observation I discovered was a PBS special from WGBY documentaries, The Polish
Americans. This documentary looks at the immigrant history of the Polish people and how the
Polish culture is represented or lost while living and adapting to American culture. They used
vintage film and personal experiences including family photos to demonstrate the Polish culture in
America. Discusses how the Polish made communities for themselves in America from creating
Polish schools and building churches. The Polish Americans take great pride in their differences in
music and art along with their strong faith and traditions. Even when the country of their origin
Poland was suffering from hard

Edward Taylor Vs Anne Bradstreet Essay
Edward Taylor and Anne Bradstreet are two 17th century Puritan writers. Very so like most
Puritans, their works reflect their beliefs. Even though the writers are Puritans, they share some
similarities while having some differences. Taylor s works have a single focus which is totally
religion based; on the other hand, Bradstreet s works have a multiple focus of a personal level and
of God. Alternatively, both writers highly respect God.
Bradstreet uses metaphors and analogies of her own experiences and struggles with life to show
God s grace. In her poem, Here Follows Some Verses upon the Burning of Our House , Bradstreet
uses her skills to illustrate the destruction of her home and belongings. Like some may mourn the
loss of their belongings, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She personifies the poem as a child Thou ill formed offspring of my feeble brain (Line 1). The
offspring poem is horrible and ill formed. When she first writes her book, it is not good and she
does not want it to be published. Throughout the poem, she describes the process of her book
being published and her as a poet accepting her work. As for Edward Taylor, he writes with a
narrower focus and that is a focus on God. In all of his poems, he centers on God, but he is best
known for his great poem, Huswifery. In this poem, the speaker compares God making him into a
better man to a woman s spinning wheel. The poem opens with the pleading statement, Make me,
O Lord, Thy spinning wheel complete (Line 1). The speaker wants God to take control and thread
him into a man of his Holiness and righteousness. The speaker will then be a creation from God
himself. Hence, these two 17th century poets share similarities, but not in their style of writing.
Both poets share their beliefs of Puritanism, but Anne Bradstreet also, gives readers a glimpse of
herself. Moreover, they share similarities of their Puritan backgrounds, but there is not much
similarity in the style of

Indi An Emerging Economy Country
INDIA: AS AN EMERGING ECONOMY COUNTRY
India, whose name is derived from the River Indus, is moving forward and away from its
traditional agricultural economy which has been undertaken for decades, and with an approximate
population of 1.2 billion people, the second most populated country in the world, is categorized as
an emerging economy. The term emerging marketswas first put down by economists at the
International Finance Corporation in the year 1981, when the group was endorsing their first
mutual funds in evolving nations. References to emerging markets have become popular in the
media, annual reports, documentation, foreign policies and investment fund prospectuses since then.
India is a democratic, secular and liberal country, and I chose the country because I wished to
learn, read and get detailed insights about the country since I do plan to venture out in India in
the future. All eyes are on India and China as they have been renowned to become Superpowers
of year 2020 . I would like to point out that India with its young population with an average age of
27 only, along with the fact it has second largest English speaking population in the world gives it
a benefit over The Republic of China, where English is still not spoken fluently. On the contrary
other industrial countries are ageing quickly, India will have loads of fresh talent, young individuals
and entrepreneurs. Having said that, corruption is an epidemic gashing into India s economic well
being, since

Skepticism in the Modern World
Philosophical skepticism, according to Scottish philosopher David Hume, is asking whether human
beings can perceive the world around us with any degree of accuracy. Practicing this school of
thought means that a person initially never believes anything to be true, but at the same time, does
not say everything is necessarily false; instead, he maintains a position of doubt. The final source of
truthfor a skeptic is experience. In terms of skepticismvs. rationalism vs. romanticism and their
usage today, the school of skepticism is the strongest way of thinking, drawing the best conclusions.
Rationalism, which uses reasonand logic for its basis, is flawed, according to skeptics, in that their
rational thought is swayed by desires. As for romanticism, which moves away from the emphasis
on science and focuses more on the freedom and creativity of mind (and idealism, where reality
varies per person), it is not always applicable in a world that seeks definite answers.
In today s world, it is necessary for people to maintain a skeptical attitude towards life. Without
the kind of doubt skepticism entails, people can be constantly deceived. Take, for example, a
man who is on the Internet and finds interesting ad with appealing claims. These ads, some of
them, at least, can be fake and be part of some criminal or company s scheme to make money;
however others can be real. If the man were to think skeptically, he would remain wary because ads
have the potential

Congress Review Act Analysis
With Republican President, Donald Trump, and the Republican Party holding the majority of both
chambers of the 115th Congress, passing environmental protection legislation doesn t seem to be a
priority (or even a thought). Not only are Congress and the President ignoring environmental
protection, but they have also worked together to reverse current environmental protection
regulations. Normally, repealing any form of legislation is a lengthy and challenging task.
However, during the spring of 2017, the Legislative and Executive branches were able to quickly
and easily get rid of two environmental protection rules. This ease of change definitively had do
with the legislation being bureaucratic agency rules and laws. Though, not only were... Show more

Additionally, the intent of the procedure is pretty pointless because the president could just
override an agency rule. Though, because the tool is meant for Congress but has a road block of
the presidency, this Congressional tool has barely left the toolbox. In fact, it has only worked
one time before 2017 (Feller). However, since Trump was sworn into office, the CRA has
resurfaced. When a political party takes over the Presidency with control of both Congressional
chambers this device can be very affective. Because the CRA allows the 60 day disapproval
window, many of Obama s midnight regulations were at risk of being overturned. Specifically, in
the Congress and Trump were able to roll back 14 out of the 15 Obama regulations that fell into
the 60 day window (Larkin). The Stream Protection Act was one of these 14 disapprovals that
was passed in the spring of 2017. In December of 2016, the Federal Office of Surface Mining
Reclamation and Enforcement issued a regulation requiring coal companies to monitor water
quality near mines. Specifically, the rule established a buffer zone rule, blocking mining within
100 feet of streams. In general, the rule put stricter regulations on coal mining companies in
efforts to reduce pollution and preserve natural resources (Feller). This rule was in effect for a
very short period before the new President and Congress changed it. This rule disapproval was

Sustainable Development Of Green Logistics
Based on sustainable development of green logistics in China and the countermeasures (2007),
China is especially vulnerable to climate change due to its complex climatic conditions, a fragile
ecological environment, a massive population and frequent natural disasters. Insufficient per ca pita
resources and very sharp contradictions between development and environment force China to
further develop a cycling economy. Green logistics is an important tool for sustainable development.
However, logistics in China is in its infant period. Hence, there are some problems, for example,
immediate economic benefits to the enterprise and ecological and social benefits faced, which
results in negative environmental issues in China. It is worth noting that there is a need for the
sustainable logistics system inhibiting cause harmful to the environment while forming a modern
logistics system that can promote economic. There must be a combination of sustainable
development and logistics applying the principles of sustainability in green logistics. Nevertheless,
there are still many people who are not aware of green logistics and even suspect the necessity of
establishment of green logistics.
This essay aims to introduce the basic theory of green logistics in China, analysis of the
development situation of green logistics in China, countermeasures, suggestions for implementation
of green logistics in China as well as the future of Chinese enterprise s logistics development in

Tiny Moments
In The Epic of Gilgamesh food and drink appear in tiny moments and events with huge
significance and symbolism. If you delve deep into the details and themes of food in The Epic of
Gilgamesh, you will discover symbolism with profound meaning. One of the most obvious
examples is how Enkidu wandered the wilderness as a beast surviving on only grass and water. He
is transformed by his first taste of bread and beer. Food and drink represent much more than
sustenance, it is what separates humans and animals, the underworld from the above and it serves
as a transformative metaphor for life.

Hysterectomy Essay
As previously mention, hysterectomy is the most frequent non pregnancies related surgeries
performed on women in the United States (Qi et al., 2013). Hysterectomies are the 2nd most
commonly performed procedures among women of childbearing age (Everyday Health, 2015). The
majority of women that undergo hysterectomy are usually between the ages of 35 and 54; within
that group women between the ages of 35 and 44 have the highest risk of undergo the procedure

  • 2. The Hypocrisy of Humanity Depicted in Harper Lee’s To... Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird, has many stories from Scouts little town in Alabama that teaches the reader the good and bad sides of the human being. When all these come together, the result is this fantastic novel. One of the stories that stand out is the one when Mrs. Gates and Cecil Jacobs have a conversation in the classroom. They talk about Adolph Hitler and the malicious things he did to the Jewish people. Mrs. Gates tries to tell her students that what he did was wrong in a very firm tone of voice. At this point in the story, the reader feels anger for everything the Nazis did. However, the main point of this passage is to make the reader realize how two faced Mrs. Gates is. In this novel, Harper Lee implies that humanity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Underneath this paragraph, a picture shows how the celebrity, who is riding the private jet, is being hypocritical about his actions even though he does not seem to notice that he is harming the environment. This picture was meant to be for Al Gore, director of the World Famous documentary An Inconvenient Truth. This documentary show cases the effects that polluting gases have in wildlife and natural catastrophes around the world. The whole point behind this picture is to show the hypocrisy of Al Gore. He wishes to convince great audiences around the world to change their way of living and to strive to be better to help save the environment. The paradox, is that how can he teach one thing, if he is not going to do it? At his conferences, he tells the public to stop polluting the world and try to make a difference in order to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide there is in the atmosphere. However, he is not a good example when he comes off the stage and one looks at his real life. The picture shows the truth about him and the environment. The luxury his life style requires damages a lot to the environment. He truly states, ``I m here to talk about global warming and reducing energy usage``. One can perceive that both of the vehicles he is using to transport him self, are the most fuel inefficient there has ever been in our century. • 3. Investigating The Concentration Of A Hydrochloric Acid A... The objective of the lab was to prepare standardize solution (titrant: NaOH) of sodium hydroxide, and to determine the concentration of a hydrochloric acid and KHP solution using acid‐base titration. Standardization is the process of determining the exact concentration (molarity) of a solution. The molarity (M) of a solution is used to represent the amount of moles of solute per liter of the solution. Titrationis one type of procedure often used in standardization process. A titration is a technique where a solution of known concentration is used to determine the concentration of an unknown solution. In a titration, an exact volume of one substance(NaOH) was reacted with a known amount of another substance (HCl). The point at which the reaction was complete in a titration is referred to as the endpoint. We recognized a solution which reached the endpoint: when we saw a solution completely turned into pink color. A chemical substance known as an indicator was used to indicate the endpoint. An indicator is a substance that undergoes a distinct observable change (pink color) when conditions in its solution change. The indicator we used in this experiment was phenolphthalein because Phenolphthalein is a weak acid. The weak acid is colourless and its ion is bright pink. And the solution turned pink when we added a basic solution (NaOH) into the solution because adding hydroxide ions removes the hydrogen ions from the equilibrium which replace them turning the indicator ... • 5. Squatter By Thomas King Summary The idea of a home is a broad one that has very different ways of responding to it. This is the way of thinking that to writers use in their short stories. For the writers, the way they view home is one of identity and culture. While these two themes are positive the writers show how they get people in trouble with law and day to day life. In the short story borders by Thomas King, the concept of home is illustrated on the focuses on the nationality and identity of a person rather than the place they call home. The viewpoint of the home creates a diverse idea in which a home is not where one lives but who the view themselves as. This is seen I the interaction of the mother and the border patrol over who she claims her citizenship as. citizenship ? Blackfoot, my mother told him (pg. 257). He also captured how Borchardt s best friend fixed his alcohol addiction by adopting a new addiction, gambling. His friend wanted to make money so he could help fund the short films that were in production. The main subjects seemed as they were actors because they were so different that it felt almost fake. Smith also showed Borchardt s obsession with creating and finishing a short horror film. Borchardt consistently talked about how badly he needed to finish Coven throughout the documentary. He does get the video done because he was also obsessed with finishing his project in order to get money for his next project. He was so obsessed to get his film done he asked his dying uncle Bill for money continuously. After his uncle passed away he left him money in his will so Borchardt could finish Northwestern. Borchardt did everything he could in order to finish the film. Even though it seemed as if he had a drinking problem he was still able to complete a product he was happy about. This can be done through changing the wording of the question, choosing a different response scale for the question, or reordering the questions in the questionnaire. There are various ways to find out if a survey questionneeds revision, such as identifying grammar and concept errors in the question using specific techniques, or conducting in depth interviews to find out if survey respondents have any issues in answering the survey questions. One method is by using the Problem Classification Coding Scheme (CCS). The CCS is a process to test for issues in the question answering processes. It is a series of 28 questions that go through each stage of answering a survey question. It tests to see if there are any issues in any of the states of answering a question (Schaeffer and Dykema, 2011:919). Another method is to the Question Understanding Aid (QUAID). QUAID is a mechanism to test for issues in wording of a survey question, such as vague words or question length or even grammatical issues. The goal of QUAID is to ensure that each question is grammatically correct, and easy for the respondent to comprehend (Schaeffer and Dykema, 2011, 921). A third method and last method is to use cognitive interviews. Cognitive interviews are small group discussions to talk about issues or topics to help in the process of writing survey questions and making the survey process go quicker (BCB, 2014:434). All three methods will be used for questionnaire improvement. For the cognitive interviews, two interviews were done with people I knew. A summary about the people interviewed is presented in Table 1. Analysis After conducting the cognitive interviews and using the CCS and QUAID, there are a few problems present. • 9. The California s Prison System California s prison system is facing a number of infrastructure changes as a result of a judicial decision that came down from the United States Supreme Court, Governor of California et al v. Plata et al. California s prison system was deemed inadequate and dangerous due to severe overcrowding which led to needless suffering and death (Rogan, 2012, 262). The court ruled that the State must reduce the number of inmates in California s thirty three state prisons. This ruling came about after two class action lawsuits were filed, Coleman v. Wilson in 1990 and Plata v. Davis in 2001 (Rogan, 2012, 261). These lawsuits were filed by inmates that claimed they received poor medical and mental health care within the State s prisonhealth care system (Vicini, 2011,1). The evidence presented in these cases showed several shortcomings in California s prison health care system (Rogan, 2012, 264). These shortfalls were a result of severe overcrowding within California s thirty three state prisons. At its peak in 2006, California s prisons were filled with approximately 172,000 inmates. However, these prisons were designed to hold about 80,000 individuals (Vicini, 2011, 3). At that point, State prisons were filled at 215% over capacity. Because of overcrowding, prison inmates faced chronic and severe shortages in basic medical and mental health care services (Vicini, 2011, 1). The Importance Of Public Human Resource Management Public Human Resources Management operations include four fundamental functions that reflect the activities needed to manage HR. those functions are symbolized by the acronym PADS (planning, acquisition, development, and sanction) which is used in public, private, and non profit organizations. Among with those fundamental functions, HR management is strongly influenced by the four traditional values linked to the four traditional public systems (political responsiveness /representation patronage/spoils system, efficiency civil service, employee rights civil service merit, and social equity affirmative action). Though those functions, values, and systems, HR management reflects the interactions between political influence and public agencies as well as public organization s level of responsiveness to the citizens needs through effective and efficient delivery of goods and services. The structure of Little Elm HR department is based on those concepts and follows the same PADS functions: planning procedures on HR activities based on the available budget and political influence; acquiring new employees through internet and their own website applications; development (increasing the employees willingness to perform well) by training employees on their duties; and finally the sanctioning of employees whom does not fit on their atmosphere of serving the public. • 11. The American Filipino War And The Filipino Revolution Essay The American Filipino war, the Filipino Revolution, the Filipino Insurrection, whatever name you give to the armed conflict between America and the Philippines that occurred at the end the eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth century, it happened and it stays as a footnote on both America s history and the Philippines history. This war, or how my friend humorously called it, A chain of war atrocities , ended in the Americans favor. However, the question stands, did the Filipino forces ever stand a chance against the Americans? Also, did the Filipino war help the Filipinos get what they wanted all along, Filipino Independence? For the former, you have to look at the belligerents on both sides as well as their tactics along with the reasons of why my friend called the conflict a chain of war atrocities rather than a war; for the latter, you must instead look at the different states the Philippines was in after the war leading up to its independence in order to find out if the American Filipino war acted as a factor. Philippines for a long time could be considered the Russia of the Pacific. Nations just kept on coming to conquer them. However, unlike Russia, the Philippines failed to keep its independence every single time. After America, Japan came and took over for a while. Before America, the Spanish occupied the Philippines. • 13. Differences Between Feminist Theology And Christian Theology If one were to ask ten modern day theologians to define the word theology, it is likely that they would hear ten different answers. Even within the various types of theology, for example, Christian theology, there are a wide spectrum of attitudes and beliefs. Even more so, if one were to compare evangelical theologywith feminist theology, the differences would add up quickly. Two modern day theologians, Stanley Grenz and Catherine Keller, well known in their respective fields, have approached their theology from different backgrounds. The most obvious is the difference in gender. However, their theological methodologies, the definition, and nature of their theological goals and their approach to being biblically faithful are vastly different. By careful examination, these two theologians and their specific ideologies in relating to evangelical theology and feminist theology will influence how a person approaches their own theology. Considered a prolific theologian, Stanley Grenz was a leader among evangelical theologians (Warner, 2005, p. 42). Author of a multitude of books on diverse subject matters including eschatology, ethics, Trinity, and homosexuality, Grenz initially defended his Baptist customs (Warner, 2005). However, considered as his greatest contribution, was his ability to bridge the evangelicals from their own world of thought to engage the larger scholarly world (Warner, 2005, p. 43). He was the first to consider postmodern thought, recognizing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The glycoprotein has two sets of disulfide bridged AО±, BОІ and Оі chains. Each molecule has two outer D domains which is connected to E domain (a central domain) by coiled coil segment 242 244. The experiment was conducted to observe any effect of crude N. kaouthia venom on various chains of bovine fibrinogen. In brief, bovine fibrinogen (2mg/ml) was dissolved in 50mM TrisHCl buffer, pH 7.4, 0.15M NaCl for overnight. Various amounts of crude venom from 1 10Вµg in 150 Вµl of buffer (Tris Cl buffer, pH 7.4, 0.15M NaCl) were incubated with 300Вµl of dissolved fibrinogen for different time intervals (0, 30, 60, 120, 240, 480, 960 and 1440mins) at 37В°C 240. The collected mixtures at various time intervals were then run on a 12.5% SDS PAGE to observe any changes in the protein bands of fibrinogen. Staining was done with 1.2% coommassie brilliant blue R250 and destained with Methanol: Acetic acid: Water (40:10:50) to observe any effect on the AО±, BОІ and Оі chains of bovine fibrinogen. 2.2.12 In vitro coagulant assays 2.2.12.1 Recalcification time Recalcification time test was performed according to ... Liberal Democracy In Canada When evaluating the liberal democracy or constitutional monarchy in Canada it is imperative to identify that the Canadian governing system cannot unambiguously be either correct or incorrect. Hence, Canada s democratic system functions well enough; nonetheless it would further benefit from adopting a Nordic democratic socialist model as well as adopting a proportional representation electoral system. A Nordic democratic system would benefit the citizens by providing them with universal health care, closely similar wages, free and inexpensive education, public pension plans, and virtually free trade. On the other hand, in Canada there are little to no consequences for civil disobedience or requesting the government to change their decision. For most organizations, data analysis is a challenging task, as first it require dealing with both structured and unstructured forms of data. Then an organization may have to deal with data stored across many separate silos (as various groups such as sales marketing; operations and supply chain management etc., may have separate IT systems). It is also quite possible that most of the silo systems do not talk to each other, this is especially true of the legacy platforms which may have technical challenges in connecting to each other or may require use of special software interfaces. Lastly the volume of data is large to process and the traditional tools may not be effective to do such analysis. • 19. Social Aspects Of Social Norm A social norm that strikes my fascination is in the initial actions, responses, and facial expressions individuals convey when greeting other people, whether a person is acknowledging a friend, co worker, family member, or a stranger, one would think that each person would greet everyone in somewhat the same manner due to the nature of one s personality and regardless of their relationship to that individual. I had the assumption that when people have a very bubbly and outgoing personality they would greet everyone in the same vivacious way. Likewise, when individuals are more reserved and less likely to take the initiative in introducing themselves to a stranger, I figured they would be more shy and quiet in their responses. So what I wanted to do was count to three out loud before saying, Hello back to my friends, co workers, family members, and strangers greetings and see how they would react to this social norm violation. Therefore, the social norm I chose to break was failing to respond directly to a persons greeting in the normal response rate and additionally counting out loud to three before replying. To get a fairly accurate conclusion of my findings, I responded to sixteen greetings in this peculiar way. I gathered the reactions from four friends, four co workers, four family members (although three were over the phone), and four random strangers who came up to talk to me. Assembling In The Iliad Ethan Medley English 2332 877 Professor Brooks 28 September 2017 Assembling in The Iliad (Holding councils of war or holding assemblies) Every great war in history has been determined, to some extent, by the powerful strategies executed by one party of the war. These strategies , most of the time, are not the brainchild of one individual, but more or less a group of people collaborating toward one strategy effective enough to turn the tides of battle. The most effective way for important leaders to voice their opinions for their next endeavor is achieved through the use of assemblies. Assemblies were very important to the armies in the Trojan War , as both sides had great power, meaning that cunning strategy would be the winning factor for one of the parties involved in the Trojan War. However, assemblies held during the Trojan War were more one sided toward the authoritative figures rather than a true collaboration between leaders and wise men. These assemblies follow a simple pattern: a leader calls out to the army to form an assembly when he sees it fit; then, the leaders and wise men then collaborate and voice their opinions on the matter at hand; and finally, the figure with the highest authority in the assembly decides what to do next as a result of the assembly. The assembly begins with an important leader calling for one when he sees it fit to form one. For example, an assembly was called by Achilles due to concerns from the plague in Book 1; it was revealed that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The problem is however, when your senses are being perfectly spoofed and you are in a near perfect simulation of the world you will not know that you are not living the real life. The movie makes some interesting parallels to the idea of dreams. We have all had those dreams that seemed very real when they happened, only to wake up the next day and think about how ridiculous they were. The idea of the Matrix is to be close enough to the real world that the human mind doesn t catch on. This raises an interesting question though. If the humans are really grown and harvested and the Matrix is the only thing that they ever know, why did the Matrix have to simulate the reality that did exist. Would it not be equally possible for the simulated Matrix to be completely different in physical laws and color spectrum and general makeup from the world that humans are accustomed too? But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning. (Churchill, 1942) After months of incongruity between British and American war planners regarding the viability of a cross channel invasion in 1940, the Americans accepted the British strategy and approved the North African Campaign. It included campaigns fought in the Libyan and Egyptian deserts, where one of the lesser known battles of World War II was fought by a small yet valiant force of Australians in the North African port city of Tobruk. The Germans would ve controlled the waters around the port, allowing them to supply provisions such as oil, food and weaponry to men on the offensive. In this regard, the German penetration and Iraqi Rebellion would ve continued to infiltrate the area, giving them control over the Mediterranean and granting them a foothold in the war. • 33. Analysis Of Franklin Delano Roosevelt Signed Into Law Following his election in 1933, Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed into law something radical for its time: The Social Security Act. This act changed America s economic landscape completely, by minimizing the long existing problem of retirees and the elderly living below the poverty line. Simply put, Social Securityis a way to guarantee that older people, namely retirees, have at least a minimal source of income in their later years, by providing around 40 percent of the average person s yearly income. Social Security both is and functions as a defined benefit plan, wherein benefits are decided by the amount of quarters than a person works, and are decided by a sliding scale with caps (United States). As directed by the sliding scale, per dollar benefits are much higher for people of lower incomes, while overall benefit amounts are higher for those of higher incomes (Benefit). Both the scale and the caps are adjusted yearly according to inflation. Social Security accumulates its funds into a trust fund, and puts excess money into investments in US Treasury Securities, where interest is accumulated and put back into the fund. Social Security s benefits are not affected by the investments. Since 1982, the Social Security trust fund has experienced a net increase and in 2015, the asset reserves sit at 2.8 trillion dollars (Financial). Despite this, the misinformed often point their fingers at the trust fund and claim that it is on its last leg, and will soon run out. Every few ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Secret Service found that assassination seems clear is that, for almost all subjects, attacks or near lethal approaches occurred after a period of downward spiral in their lives (Dedman, 1998). The most often motive that assassins gave for attacking a public figure was to achieve notoriety or fame, and only a few wanted political change or acted in a group. Other assassins wanted to end their pain by being imprisoned or to avenge a perceived wrong. Not one had communicated a direct threat to the target or to law enforcement authorities. It is known that yeast can ferment sugars such as glucose, sucralose, fructose, saccharin, and maltose but not ferment Truvia, starch, and lactose as efficiently. Simple sugars are known as monosaccharides whereas complex sugars are polysaccharides because they are made up of monosaccharides through dehydration reactions. A dehydration reaction occurs when a water molecule is removed from the reacting molecule and the two molecules become covalently bonded. Glucose and fructose are monosaccharides whereas, maltose, sucralose, starch, saccharin, and lactose are polysaccharides. Truvia is the only sugar that is not either a monosaccharide or a polysaccharide. All monosaccharides and polysaccharides are composed of some multiple of CH2O. The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae was used for determining the fermentation of various sugars because it is convenient to use and ferments quickly. Throughout the experiment, the only factor that wasn t constant was the sugars used in the fermentation process. Based on this, it was hypothesized that there would be differences in yeast fermentation of sugars. • 45. Skepticism in the Modern World Philosophical skepticism, according to Scottish philosopher David Hume, is asking whether human beings can perceive the world around us with any degree of accuracy. Practicing this school of thought means that a person initially never believes anything to be true, but at the same time, does not say everything is necessarily false; instead, he maintains a position of doubt. The final source of truthfor a skeptic is experience. In terms of skepticismvs. rationalism vs. romanticism and their usage today, the school of skepticism is the strongest way of thinking, drawing the best conclusions. Rationalism, which uses reasonand logic for its basis, is flawed, according to skeptics, in that their rational thought is swayed by desires. As for romanticism, which moves away from the emphasis on science and focuses more on the freedom and creativity of mind (and idealism, where reality varies per person), it is not always applicable in a world that seeks definite answers. In today s world, it is necessary for people to maintain a skeptical attitude towards life. Without the kind of doubt skepticism entails, people can be constantly deceived.
