Children s Eating Habits Are Not Consistent With...
Gardening can range from fruit orchards to residential yards to fields with rows of crops. It involves a
very active participation in the growing of plants and includes labor intensive activities. Gardening
can be considered a relaxing activity for many individuals. Many classrooms and parents have taken
to teaching their children the skills of gardening at a young age. Involving children in the process of
growing their own food improves their fitness, causes them to eat healthier, makes them feel pride in
growing something, gives them a sense of self reliance and instills in them skills and values that
become important for the rest of their lives.
Current research shows that children s eating habits are not consistent with recommended ... Show

The program lets children grow their own food which creates interest in eating what they grow and
instills in them the values that children can learn from growing food and cooking it From Water s
experience, when a child has been involved in the whole process of growing they take pride in it when
it is ripe and are more likely to eat the crops they produced. In an interview Water stated, When kids
grow food and cook it and serve it, they want to eat it. All of the very important ideas about
sustainability and nutrition come in by osmosis. They re engaged with all of their senses. Once they ve
spent a year in the program, they know where the compost heap is, they know what compost is, they
know when the raspberries are ripe, they know how to plant seeds. (Broache, p. 50). Water witnessed
firsthand the benefits of gardening through observing the children who participated in her program.
Another nutrition education program called Hearty Heart and Friends was created in the 1980s. The
program lasted for ten weeks, involving twenty sessions with school based curriculum. Sixteen lower
school classes participated in the study. Half the students were the control while the other half
participated in the experiment. Those participating in the experiment received the Hearty Heart and
Friends program in their classes while the control classes learned in the traditional style of education
curriculum. Data was

Successful Class Assessment
Within a high school, there is a great divide. It separates the successful students, those were doing well
and all of their classes, from the unsuccessful students, those who are barely passing their classes or
struggling to get passing. The qualities that the successful students have that the unsuccessful students
have not yet mastered are the ability to be attentive in class, the initiative to organize all aspects of
their school life, and the intuition needed to ask the right questions. These are the bricks in the
foundation of one s achievement. To elaborate, the first step to getting good grades and doing well on
class assessments is to being able to absorb all the given information in class. The most fundamental

the purpose of asking meaningful questions is to insure that a subject is understood. Asking questions
helps to avoid later confusion. I can relate personally to this attribute because, ask anyone who knows
anything about me, and they will inform you of how inquisitive I am. I ask questions often to ensure
that there are no gray areas. For example, I was once given an assignment in an English class and I felt
the instructions weren t clear so I asked for a rubric. Turns out, my instructor had forgotten to hand out
the rubric and she also confessed that it would have been 10 times more difficult to complete the
assignment without this handout. That is one out of many times where asking questions was useful. In
addition to gathering information, asking questions will encourage free communication between the
student and the teacher. The fact that a student is asking questions shows that they re humble enough
to admit that they don t know everything, and teachers admire this. It also shows the craving for
knowledge which teachers always love to see in their

Essay On Fluoride
Fluoride (the thick fluid dentists put on your teeth that feels strange) was put in the water supply to

could that help be toxic?
Fluoride has been put into the public water supply to help babies. When you re older it helps with
resistance to enamel destroying acids, cavities, and other kinds of tooth decay as said by the American
Dental Association. Gradually Studies show that fluoride in community water systems prevents at

people opposing this view think of it as a harsh chemical but really it s naturally present in

the adjustment of fluoride to a recommended level for preventing tooth decay. and fluoride is similar
to fortifying other foods and beverages, like fortifying salt with iodine, milk with vitamin D, orange
juice with calcium and bread with folic acid. People oppose water fluoridation because they think it is
an unsafe practice ...there is no dispute that fluoridation is causing millions of children to develop
dental fluorosis, a discoloration of the teeth that is caused by excessive fluoride intake. this may be

The Life Of Narcissa Whiteman
The life of Narcissa Whiteman:
1. Discuss the background, marriage, and goals of Narcissa Whitman.
Narcissa grew up in a devoted Presbyterian family, in a village of Prattsburg, New York. Narcissa was
an enthusiastic and highly influenced young woman, reading popular biographies of American
missionaries in the 19th century. Influenced by Harriet Newell, an evangelist who traveled and worked
in India, Narcissa was captivated by Harriet s spiritual struggles, letters and sermons. As a young
teenager, she felt life was slipping away, time was wasted, as she was ready to adventure out and start
ministering the word of God. 19th century American missions, was influenced by the cultural attitudes
and practices within their culture. Not interested in children, marriage and traditional lifestyles,
Narcissa struggled being a single woman, in a man s world. She knew the way to a missionary
appointment meant she would have to marry. Luckily enough, she slightly knew someone, who had
the same goals and same need of marriage, in order to find placement within the American Board of
Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM), an organization dealing with foreign missionary
efforts. Years had passed, and eventually, Narcissa and Marcus Whitman would marry (February
1836), allowing their ultimate dream of missionary work to begin. With means to an end, Narcissa s
goals would be met by wedlock. Narcissa s goals were to leave instantly, head west and bring to life,

Social media websites and activities such as Facebook, Instagram, Blogs, and open forums allows
people to seek the attention from others. Apps and websites that focus on a persons appearance affects
how one might think of themselves. The self esteem of Young adults and adolescence ages 15+ are
greatly affected. The thought of being appealing and gaining status is a target for young adults to
change their color or dark personality traits as an accommodation (Furnham, 2014). Posting self
portraits of oneself in a provocative position, videos illustrating a wild personality are behaviors will
lead to instant gratification that a typical young adult craves. Various factors such as cell phone use,
the likely hood one might join a site based on the big five personality traits and others factors caused

The Importance Of The Chinese Garden Architecture
In the early 1636, the place where the Chinese kings live, the construction of the Chinese garden
architecture first started, when the Chinese emperor chose a city as the earth and the use of financial
resources in his hands. The King s builder s team started building the Yu palace garden building,
which has a beautiful grand mansion that provides the emperor with a place to live in. The Yu Garden
is primarily located in the Yellow River basin in South China, in the Beijing area. This is the product
of China s two thousand years of the feudal dynasty regularly change; and the development of China
has stopped developing for millennia. As a consequence, the government at that time stopped
communicating with other countries. For a significant number of years, China kept up maintained
social type of antiquated progress. In 1994, the Chinese imperial garden had been taken as the world s
social legacy rundown and was the value abundance of all humankind (Haritatou, 2012). This paper
will examine how the Chinese imperial gardens bring positive emotions, the dimension of Chinese
ancient designs, Chinese history, and the natural and human dimension.

Essay about Jack Kerouac’s On The Road
On The Road and the American Quest
Jack Kerouac s On The Road is the most uniquely American novel of its time. While it has never fared
well with academics, On The Road has come to symbolize for many an entire generation of
disaffected young Americans. One can focus on numerous issues wh en addressing the novel, but the
two primary reasons which make the book uniquely American are its frantic Romantic search for the
great American hero (and ecstasy in general), and Kerouac s Spontaneous Prose method of writing.
On The Road is an autobiographical first person book written in 1951 and based on Kerouac s
experiences of the late 1940 s. At the time, America was undergoing drastic changes and the sense of

Dean and Kerouac s alter ego, Sal, represent one of the three main types of character patterns seen in
50s literature: that of the Rebel. And while representative of the rebellious James Dean like figures of
literature, they are perhaps even more repres entative of 50s youth culture in their endless searches.
For what? The quest is left open for debate. Tim Hunt suggests that Kerouac could be searching for
several things in On The Road: a father (or brother) figure, the chance to regain lost joy, or a type of
revelation (91). Hipkiss contends that Neal s
speeding dashes down the road are as much flights of panic,
the fear of never making it, the fear of losing all the life
he ever had, as they are quests for ecstasy, which is itself
an escape from fear and the frustrations of desire. (43)
Of course, elements of restlessness surface in earlier American novelists such as Hemingway and
Fitzgerald,
but Kerouac s search for a type of identity in an era of increasing conformity sparked rebelliousness
On The
Road style and encouraged many to, as Tim Leary would put it several years later, tune in, turn on,
and drop
out.
As Kerouac s searches for the great American hero and ecstasy in general made On The Road
uniquely American,
so too does his style of writing. Kerouac s search for ecstasy naturally led to the exploration

Symptoms And Treatment Of Celiac Disease
Countless plagues, disorders, and diseases have cut many human lives short over the 160 thousand
years since Homo sapiens evolved from their ancestors. Since then, human s increasing knowledge of
medical science has allowed for them to thrive for much longer than their primitive predecessors.
These conditions have evolved in a costimulatory way with all species throughout life s evolution, and
although some of these situations are beneficial (symbiotic) many diseases benefit only one organism
at the expense of another (exploitative). Much like an exploitative situation an organism can cause a
disadvantageous situation for itself, such is the case in hypochondriasis which is when a person
believes that they have an illness and starts to develop symptoms because of this belief. Celiac disease
is an intestinal disorder caused by an autoimmune response to an individual s own tissue, this is
triggered by the ingestion of anything which contains gluten or gluten related products. On the other
hand, Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) mimics some of the symptoms found in Celiac disease
and it is generally a self diagnosed disease. From this, it is clearly seen that NCGS is a primary
example of hypochondriasis. Celiac disease is a very real, documented medical phenomenon while
NCGS, with little proof of its actual existence, is nothing more than a placebo that has started to affect
(for the most part) those in Western society.

Essay about Depiction of September 11th 2001 in the Media
It was Tuesday 11th September 2001 when two hijacked passenger aircrafts collided with the World

newspaper, television and radio journalists were reporting, all with different views, opinions and facts.
The ways in which the tragedy of September 11th was reported and presented, in newspapers,
magazines and television broadcasts was striking and they varied greatly, in particular by The Sun a

The Financial Times a broadsheet newspaper, complies mainly with the usual stereotype of itself, that
broadsheet s deal very much with the information and actual events of a situation. Smaller picture to
text ratios are used and headlines are rather more discreet. The Financial Times uses a picture that
concentrates very much more on the whole skyline of New York and the Statue of Liberty stands tall
in the foreground. The Financial Times has used this in their front page picture to demonstrate how the
tragedy has affected people on a much bigger scale across America. The presence of the Statue of
Liberty is included to show freedom and hope for the American people, or, indeed to highlight the
terrorist attempt to destroy this. Bullet points at the top of the front page also show that The Financial
Times is a newspaper which focuses more directly on issues that affect the whole world, some of these
issues being, Finance, Travel and Tourism and Political issues.

different political and social aspects. The scale difference of pictures between the two newspapers,

Nazi Ideology And The Nazi Party
There has been many eras in history that have been appauling to human rights; Nazism in Germany
was one of these eras. After its defeat in World War I, Germany was humiliated by the Versailles
Treaty, which reduced its territory, drastically reduced its armed forces, demanded the recognition of
its guilt for the war, and stipulated it pay reparations to the allied powers. Therefore with the German
Empire destroyed, a new parliamentary government was formed. And so, in 1933, Adolf Hitler, was
named chancellor of Germany. After the Nazi party won in the elections of 1932, the Nazi party
conducted propaganda campaigns. Propaganda appeared to depict the Nazi government as stepping in
and restoring order. This propaganda was used to maintain power, implement policies, and justify the
extermination of millions of Jews and others considered inferior by Hitler and the Nazi party.
Therefore, Nazi ideology was defined as theories of racial hierarchy and Social Darwinism, which
identified Germans as part of what Nazis regarded as an Aryan or master race. This ideology aimed to
overcome social divisions and create a homogeneous societies, or national unity. The Nazis aimed to
unite all Germans living in German territory, as well as gain additional lands for expansion. The
German people were reminded of the struggle against foreign enemies and Jewish Disruption through
propaganda campaigns. Thus, the effects of Nazism were Anti Semitism, Euthanasia programs, and
the Holocaust.

The Perspective of Plato and Aristotle on the Value of Art
As literary critics, Plato and Aristotle disagree profoundly about the value of art in human society.
Plato attempts to strip artists of the power and prominence they enjoy in his society, while Aristotle
tries to develop a method of inquiry to determine the merits of an individual work of art. It is
interesting to note that these two disparate notions of art are based upon the same fundamental
assumption: that art is a form of mimesis, imitation. Both philosophers are concerned with the artist s
ability to have significant impact on others. It is the imitative function of art which promotes disdain
in Plato and curiosity in Aristotle. Examining the reality that art ... Show more content on

Art is removed from any notion of real truth, an inherently flawed copy of an already imperfect world.
Art as an imitation is irrelevant to what is real.
Aristotle approaches reality from a completely different premise. While his ideas do stand in sharp
contrast to Plato s, they are not simply a refutation of his former mentor s views. To Aristotle, the
world exists in an infinitely diverse series of parts. These various parts are open to human observation
and scrutiny. Rather than an eternally regressing truth beyond the scope of human apprehension,
knowledge of truth and good are rooted firmly in the observable universe; truth, or at least gestures
toward it, lies in existence rather than essence. Aristotle encourages embracing the particular in order
to possibly gain a sense of the universal. There is, however, no universal system of inquiry to
investigate each part of the whole. Different parts require different methods of discourse. In The
Poetics, Aristotle attempts to articulate a method of inquiry, not a rigid system or standard of
evaluation, applicable to tragedy. Tragedy attempts to imitate the complex world of human actions,
and yet tragedy is itself still part of a larger, more complicated world of human existence. Tragedy is a

However, before this stage can take place there are such things which need to be taken into account,
the main thing would be deficiency needs . These have been put into a pyramid which is shown below:
It is important for any health and social worker to posses certain vital skills. They need to understand
how important it is to communicate and interact with other, along with knowing and understanding
their own individual needs. Basically Maslow (1) theory is explaining how an individual person
should strive to develop their individual ability and potential. Before the individual can develop their
own potential the levels in the pyramid will need to be met. This deficiency needs play a role in
fulfilling individual needs, and it is therefore it is imperative that social and health workers are fully
aware of these deficiency needs.
Communication that takes place in an early years setting has to that of a high standard to enhance the
potential of the clients, especially when working with children because they tend to pick up on things
much easier. Therefore teachers need to be trained, so they are fully aware of all their communication
skills they use, this even means from the way they dress to the manner in which they speak to the
children. Everything has to be adapted to the client s level, like the manner in which they talk. Usually
they would talk

Horror
Carrie is a story about a girl who has never fit in at school. All the other kids were always mean to her.
They ether never thought of her feelings, or didn t care. One day, in the girls locker room, the teasing
got out of hand. This time, a teacher caught them. This time, revenge was in order. At least, that s what
Chris Hargensen thought. The punishment for their crime, no prom. Chris wasn t going down without
a fight, but she sure went down. When a vicious prank is pulled on Carrie at the dance, she snaps and
unleashes he telegenic power on all the kids, teachers, parents, and the rest of the town. The town will
burn with Carrie s revenge, but will she burn with it?
Carrie White Carrie is the main character (you can tell by the title), but I would also say she is
partially the antagonist. Her mother raised her to be very religious and told her almost everything she
did was a sin. When Carrie wasn t like the other kids, they made fun of her. When they would make
fun of her, she got mad. And when she got mad, bad things happened. Carrie learned she had
telekinesis. The older she got the more interested she became in her power, so she learned to control it.
But a horribly treated girl and a dangerous power don t mix.
Sue Snell Susan Snell is the perfect girl every parent wants as their daughter. Good grades, nice to
everyone at school, and very pretty and popular. But when the teasing broke out in the locker room
she joined in.

Mass Media And Culture Essay
It is interesting that Raymond Williams creates a division between high class culture and lower class
culture, suggesting that culture is ordinary, shared and common. If this is the case why does he
emphasise a division in light of this concept? And if we all share a common culture can there be a
division?
It is difficult to understand the term culture. What is culture? Is it a utopian dream, is it a shared group
of interests that bring a community together, or is it just simply a way of life? There are so many
questions surrounding culture and its meaning. Raymond Williams described culture as maps of
meaning through which the world is made intelligible , whether we agree with this definition or not,
he was right in saying that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But before I discuss Internet culture it is imperative that I decipher the essence of mass culture and
mass media. To understand the term mass , it is important to study Gustave Lebon. Although there
have been many more recent theorists that have discussed the term mass ; including Karl Max, John
Stuart Mills and Mathew Arnold, Lebon s theories on mass have pervaded disputes on the subject ever
since. A quote specifically that is questioned today is his warning that the age we are about to enter
will in truth be the era of crowds ([1895] 1916, p. 3), at a time when working class parties were more
present and when western societies were dealing with the growth of industrialisation and mass
migration to popular cities. His book La psychologie des foules was cited for its treatise to crowds,
however is much more about the advent of mass society in physiological terms. He discusses
contagion, loss of individuality, and regression to a more primitive mental state were his favourite
terms . The reason for the book being described as a treatise for the mass is his connotation of crowd
behaviour within a larger mass. For example Lebon quotes, thousands of isolated individuals may
acquire at certain moments, and under the influence of certain violent emotions such, for example, as a
great national event the characteristics of a psychological crowd . However, the mere coming together
of a crowd is not sufficient enough to cause the disappearance of the conscious

Four Major Sociological Paradigms
The four major sociological theoretical paradigms are; structural functional, social conflict, symbolic
interaction, and postmodern perspectives.
Structural functional paradigm is based on the system being stable, where most of the community
believe in the same set of values, beliefs and behavioral expectations (Kendall, 2017, p. 17). Society
has put together social structures that play a large role in aiding in the survival of the society. These
social structures include; family, education, government, religion as well as the economy. If something
unfavorable happens to any of these social structures then the system cannot work properly.
Social conflict is where various groups in society are embarked in a struggle for power or control of
scarce resources (Kendall, 2017, p. 18). It could be in politics and litigation, as well as negotiation, or
even financial issues within the family. It is recognizing the importance of economic conditions which
produce inequality and conflict in society. It also focused ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Symbol is defined as anything that meaningfully represents something else, such as gestures, written
language, values which are shared, as well as signs. It is the interaction that which happens when
individuals communicate using symbols. These interactions could include, facial gestures, tonality of
one s voice, a person s posture. A good example of symbolic interaction is mentioned in our readings,
where if someone yells fire! into a crowd at a movie theater, it generates a response, which is to find
the nearest exit and get out (Kendall, 2017, p. 21). However, if an individual doesn t share the same
meaning for the word fire then they will not know what the message means and therefore won t know
they need to get out to

Propaganda Techniques In Animal Farm
The Use of Propaganda Techniques in Animal Farm Oppressive dictators will go to extraordinary
extremes and use tyrannical techniques to manipulate their citizens. Animal Farm, a satirical novel
written by George Orwell in 1944 45, offers powerful political commentary on totalitarian regimes
and the extent that leaders will go to in order to control their subjects and maintain political power.
Napoleon is a pig on the farm that supports the rebellion against a human named Mr. Jones, embraces
the philosophy of Animalism, ascends to power, and ultimately rules ruthlessly, evolving into a
corrupt and terrorizing character. In Animal Farm, Napoleon utilizes propaganda devices such as the
big lie, scapegoating, and manipulation of language to control the other animals on the farm. The big
lie, a ploy that offers a misrepresentation or distortion of facts, is used by Napoleon in order to
intentionally deceive the inhabitants of Animal Farm. At the start of the novel, Old Major, a respected

Use Of Language And Concepts Depicted Throughout The...
Expression is imperative to the human condition and is the primary reason why music has managed to
subside throughout the centuries in various forms. For many, music extends beyond rhythm and beat,
and is a means of communicating one s experiences and narrating those experiences to their
comprehension of the world. For African Americans, music was a symbol of cultural identity and a
way to translate the daily oppressions they were forced to endure. Insight and evidence into this is
depicted widely throughout the Spirituals and the Blues, where the hardships of slavery and troubles
associated with being African American are greatly expressed. While African American music has
evolved and new genres have sprung into existence, differences in the ways that they communicate
and express themselves have arisen. However, some aspects have remained similar and language
usage has demonstrated a correlation between the two. The songs Soon I Will Be Done and Trouble in
Mind demonstrate how use of language and concepts depicted within the Blues emits evidence to its
emergence from the spirituals. In the spiritual Soon I Will Be Done , the writer discusses how the
sufferings and difficulties that they are momentarily facing will transcend into a distant memory due
to the hope that is near. This hope is evidently God as the writer clearly states Soon I will be done with
the troubles of the world. Going home to live with God . Throughout the Spiritual, the writer s

Quentin Tarantino s Inglorious Bastards
Quentin Tarantino s 2009 film Inglourious Bastards entails a Jewish revenge fantasy that is told
through a counterfactual history of events in World War II. However, this story follows a completely
different plot than what we are currently familiar with. Within these circumstances, audiences now

Inglourious Basterds is a Jewish revenge fantasy that forces us to rethink our previous understandings

The Jew Hunter is very polite yet vicious and frightening and displays this again through a silent
brutal strangling of one of the spies. These scenes depict Jewish and supporters revolt against Hitler s
reign and the war in itself it was before American involvement.
Inglourious Basterds argues that the American lens of Jews in World War II is inaccurate by
contrasting the traditional American lens with a strong Jewish lens through parallel plots in the story.
In Inglourious Basterds, we mentioned the opening scene which starts with the Jew Hunter in
complete control and using fear tactics to make a French farmer give up the Jews he is harboring. This
scene shows the Jew Hunter in full control of the situation with all power resting solely in his hands.
The Jewish family being harbored is completely helpless as they hide under the floorboards. The Jews
in this scene are in line with what the American perspective of Jews in World War II, helpless and at
the mercy of the Nazis. However the Basterds violently contradict the American lens of Jew s role in
World War II history. This is done so in the way the film is laid out with alternating five different
chapters, which alternate between Jews having power and lacking power. The Basterds reverse the
power structure and become the ones inflicting fear. They begin to not only kill Nazis they make the
Nazis fear Jews. This can be seen in one scene where the Bear Jew walks out of a dark tunnel, bat

Cide In The Rocide Genocide
genocide the deliberate killing to eliminate of a group of people of the same race, religion or ethnicity.
This word is derived from a combination of a Greek word genos ( race or tribe ) and a Latin word cide
( killing ). In 1994, in the beginning of April, the same has happened in Rwanda. A genocide.
Before the colonial period in Rwanda, there were three classifications of people. Hutus, who made up
the majority of the population 84%, Tutsi who were only 17% and Twa who only made up 1%. Hutus
were from less privileged families and were cultivators, Tutsis were cattle herders and from rich
families, and Twa were potters and were outshined by the other groups (Stapleton 28). However, these
classifications were based on the number of cattle people owned. People who owned 10 cows or more
were considered Tutsi and people with less than 10 cows were considered Hutu. People could shift
from being a Hutu to a Tutsi or vice versa depending on the number of cattle they had. Before
colonization Tutsis and Hutus lived peacefully (Warren 19).
During the colonial period tensions from all corners, politically, educationally and socially were
created such that hatred and violence was harbored in Hutus and they decided to eliminate fellow
Rwandese, Tutsis. The existence of ethnicities itself did not lead to the Tutsi Genocide since they
existed even before the colonial era.
In 1914 after Germany lost all its colonies, Rwanda which was also one of Germany colonies was

Catapult Project Essay
This catapult project exemplifies and strengthened my current knowledge of parabolas that we have
learned during class. Using our skills, my group Katrina, Brandon, Michelle, and I created an
interesting catapult which would thrust a ping pong ball across creating an upside down U shape, also
known as a parabola. During our time as a group, we learned to create our own equation, create a
graph and table, but also learn from our mistakes by trying to make the ping pong s journey consistent.
Not only this, but we worked together as a team to get this task done.
Before even beginning to measure the ping pong ball s journey , we had to create our own catapult.
Using materials provided by Ms. Csigi, such as popsicle sticks, hot glue, rubber bands, and a spoon,
we created the our own, unique catapult. First off, we created a square with four popsicle overlapping
each other. Then we created another square and connected the two by the edge, with one side upwards.
Then we got a spoon and glued it on another popsicle stick. Because the spoon needed to be at an
angle, we hot glued the bottom facing the bottom of the square. We connected rubber bands to the

Themes And Values Of Walt Disney s The Tempest
In the year of 1995, the release of the thirty third film in the Walt Disney Animated Classic series
created a substantial amount of controversy that has continued to this day. Many people think that
Walt Disney s Pocahontas was a recreation of the classic Shakespearean play known as The Tempest.
There seems to be apparent evidence for this case within the characterization and the story line.
However, it can be difficult to fully see the relationship between both of these works without
understanding the purpose behind each one. As a result, by reviewing the original themes and values
that were apparent in Shakespeare s final masterpiece, one will be able to see the validity of this
argument and determine whether or not Disney tried to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first evident piece of the characterization of civilization is portrayed through the representation of
language and communication between Prospero and Caliban. In the opening act, Caliban was able to
use his local knowledge of the island to assist Prospero and help him survive after being exiled away
by his brother, Antonio, who had taken away his power and shamefully exiled him out of Milan. In
fact, without the help of Caliban, Prospero may not have survived. In return for the kindness of
Caliban, Prospero decided that it would benefit Caliban to learn how to communicate using proper
language skills (I.ii.517 519). Essentially, Prospero used his civilized mind to enrich the mind of
Caliban with new thoughts and a new way of communication. Many of the representations dealing
with civilization in this play revolve around the concept that new ideas will have a substantial benefit
over the old ideas that are used as a representation of society. The idea of civilization coupled with the
use of theatrical elements within this play allow the reader to be able to comprehend the comparison
between classic Shakespearean works that have been modified and recreated to meet the needs of
today s modern society. In other words, the plot and story line of many of Shakespeare s plays have

District Plan is the most important document in the process as it includes the services and

The Wife Of Bath, By Geoffrey Chaucer
The Wife of Bath, emphasizing The Prologue of the Wife of Bath s Tale and the The Prologue in
Geoffrey Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, is an example of the Middle English concept that male authors
reflect misogynistic ideals of society onto female characters. With the Wife of Bath, she is a fictional
character, as told by Chaucer, going on a Pilgrimage, with constant ridicule for her sexuality and
multiple marriages. Chaucer portrays her as a previously battered wife who uses her sexual
promiscuity as a way of control. He uses his progressive views to give the Wife of Bath power, but
also reflects societal views from the period through responses and actions taken during her life.

This subtle judgment alludes to the importance of her sexual habits and her compromised chastity, but
also objectifies her as well. The narrator continues on by pointing out the fact that she had been
married five times, an atypical habit for women during this time, which continues to oversexualize her
character. Later in Canterbury Tales, during The Prologue of the Wife of Bath , she addresses the
abnormal amount of marriages she has had. She recognizes that Jesus is said to frown upon more than
one marriage, but she quickly backlashes those accusations and claims no word of what the number
was to be/ then why not marry two or even eight? And why speak evil of this married state? ( The
Wife of Bath s Prologue Chaucer 259). She also claims that she would gladly take a sixth husband,
and, due to her interpretation of Bible, it is completely acceptable to marry as many men as she wants.
At the end of his introduction to the wife of Bath, the narrator points out that she is adventurous and
well traveled, an accomplishment unfamiliar to most women. The narrator simply states and she had
thrice been to Jerusalem,/ seen many strange rivers and passed over them;/ she d been to Rome and
also to Boulogne,/ St. James of Compostella and cologne,/ and she was skilled in wandering by the

I did notice a flaw in the story line in relation to therapy, however. The flaw was that Bob seemed to
get progressively better at a very fast rate. In relation to his diagnosis of multi phobic personality
characterized by acute separation anxiety and the extreme need for family connections along with the
ones I found such as OCD, agoraphobia and dependent personality disorder. All of the problems seem
to go away with little to no time except for the dependent personality disorder which would not
happen in any typical case. The movie did portray the dependent part right because Bob always put his
happiness above the Doctor which fits what a person with dependent personality disorder would do.
Another thing that I noticed was that Dr. Marvin never tries to realize why Bob is actually at the
house. He never tries to have a session or get to the bottom of why he is at the house and will not
leave. Instead of being so wrapped up with getting rid of Bob, Leo should have tried to treat Bob.
With the right treatment Bob might have gone back to New York. Another major flaw, done for
comedic purpose, was that counselors are not supposed to attempt to kill their patients. This movie
was a pretty accurate portrayal of a patient with dependent personality, multi phobic personality
disorder, extreme need for family connections and acute separation anxiety. This movie is not only
funny to watch but also a psychological movie for counselors to

It involves a very active participation in the growing of plants and includes labor intensive activities. Gardening can be considered a relaxing activity for many individuals. Many classrooms and parents have taken to teaching their children the skills of gardening at a young age. Involving children in the process of growing their own food improves their fitness, causes them to eat healthier, makes them feel pride in growing something, gives them a sense of self reliance and instills in them skills and values that become important for the rest of their lives. Current research shows that children s eating habits are not consistent with recommended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The program lets children grow their own food which creates interest in eating what they grow and instills in them the values that children can learn from growing food and cooking it From Water s experience, when a child has been involved in the whole process of growing they take pride in it when it is ripe and are more likely to eat the crops they produced. In an interview Water stated, When kids grow food and cook it and serve it, they want to eat it. All of the very important ideas about sustainability and nutrition come in by osmosis. • 3. Successful Class Assessment Within a high school, there is a great divide. It separates the successful students, those were doing well and all of their classes, from the unsuccessful students, those who are barely passing their classes or struggling to get passing. The qualities that the successful students have that the unsuccessful students have not yet mastered are the ability to be attentive in class, the initiative to organize all aspects of their school life, and the intuition needed to ask the right questions. These are the bricks in the foundation of one s achievement. To elaborate, the first step to getting good grades and doing well on class assessments is to being able to absorb all the given information in class. The most fundamental way to ensure this occurs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... the purpose of asking meaningful questions is to insure that a subject is understood. Asking questions helps to avoid later confusion. I can relate personally to this attribute because, ask anyone who knows anything about me, and they will inform you of how inquisitive I am. I ask questions often to ensure that there are no gray areas. For example, I was once given an assignment in an English class and I felt the instructions weren t clear so I asked for a rubric. Turns out, my instructor had forgotten to hand out the rubric and she also confessed that it would have been 10 times more difficult to complete the assignment without this handout. While it has never fared well with academics, On The Road has come to symbolize for many an entire generation of disaffected young Americans. One can focus on numerous issues wh en addressing the novel, but the two primary reasons which make the book uniquely American are its frantic Romantic search for the great American hero (and ecstasy in general), and Kerouac s Spontaneous Prose method of writing. And while representative of the rebellious James Dean like figures of literature, they are perhaps even more repres entative of 50s youth culture in their endless searches. For what? The quest is left open for debate. Tim Hunt suggests that Kerouac could be searching for several things in On The Road: a father (or brother) figure, the chance to regain lost joy, or a type of revelation (91). Hipkiss contends that Neal s speeding dashes down the road are as much flights of panic, the fear of never making it, the fear of losing all the life he ever had, as they are quests for ecstasy, which is itself an escape from fear and the frustrations of desire. (43) Of course, elements of restlessness surface in earlier American novelists such as Hemingway and Fitzgerald, but Kerouac s search for a type of identity in an era of increasing conformity sparked rebelliousness On The Road style and encouraged many to, as Tim Leary would put it several years later, tune in, turn on, and drop out.

Symptoms And Treatment Of Celiac Disease Countless plagues, disorders, and diseases have cut many human lives short over the 160 thousand years since Homo sapiens evolved from their ancestors. Since then, human s increasing knowledge of medical science has allowed for them to thrive for much longer than their primitive predecessors. These conditions have evolved in a costimulatory way with all species throughout life s evolution, and although some of these situations are beneficial (symbiotic) many diseases benefit only one organism at the expense of another (exploitative). Much like an exploitative situation an organism can cause a disadvantageous situation for itself, such is the case in hypochondriasis which is when a person believes that they have an illness and starts to develop symptoms because of this belief. Celiac disease is an intestinal disorder caused by an autoimmune response to an individual s own tissue, this is triggered by the ingestion of anything which contains gluten or gluten related products. On the other hand, Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) mimics some of the symptoms found in Celiac disease and it is generally a self diagnosed disease. From this, it is clearly seen that NCGS is a primary example of hypochondriasis. It is interesting to note that these two disparate notions of art are based upon the same fundamental assumption: that art is a form of mimesis, imitation. These various parts are open to human observation and scrutiny. Rather than an eternally regressing truth beyond the scope of human apprehension, knowledge of truth and good are rooted firmly in the observable universe; truth, or at least gestures toward it, lies in existence rather than essence. Aristotle encourages embracing the particular in order to possibly gain a sense of the universal. There is, however, no universal system of inquiry to investigate each part of the whole. Different parts require different methods of discourse. In The Poetics, Aristotle attempts to articulate a method of inquiry, not a rigid system or standard of evaluation, applicable to tragedy. His book La psychologie des foules was cited for its treatise to crowds, however is much more about the advent of mass society in physiological terms. He discusses contagion, loss of individuality, and regression to a more primitive mental state were his favourite terms . The reason for the book being described as a treatise for the mass is his connotation of crowd behaviour within a larger mass. For example Lebon quotes, thousands of isolated individuals may acquire at certain moments, and under the influence of certain violent emotions such, for example, as a great national event the characteristics of a psychological crowd . However, the mere coming together of a crowd is not sufficient enough to cause the disappearance of the conscious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Four Major Sociological Paradigms The four major sociological theoretical paradigms are; structural functional, social conflict, symbolic interaction, and postmodern perspectives. Structural functional paradigm is based on the system being stable, where most of the community believe in the same set of values, beliefs and behavioral expectations (Kendall, 2017, p. 17). Society has put together social structures that play a large role in aiding in the survival of the society. These social structures include; family, education, government, religion as well as the economy. If something unfavorable happens to any of these social structures then the system cannot work properly. Social conflict is where various groups in society are embarked in a struggle for power or control of scarce resources (Kendall, 2017, p. 18). Propaganda Techniques In Animal Farm The Use of Propaganda Techniques in Animal Farm Oppressive dictators will go to extraordinary extremes and use tyrannical techniques to manipulate their citizens. Animal Farm, a satirical novel written by George Orwell in 1944 45, offers powerful political commentary on totalitarian regimes and the extent that leaders will go to in order to control their subjects and maintain political power. Expression is imperative to the human condition and is the primary reason why music has managed to subside throughout the centuries in various forms. For many, music extends beyond rhythm and beat, and is a means of communicating one s experiences and narrating those experiences to their comprehension of the world. For African Americans, music was a symbol of cultural identity and a way to translate the daily oppressions they were forced to endure. Insight and evidence into this is depicted widely throughout the Spirituals and the Blues, where the hardships of slavery and troubles associated with being African American are greatly expressed. While African American music has evolved and new genres have sprung into existence, differences in the ways that they communicate and express themselves have arisen. However, some aspects have remained similar and language usage has demonstrated a correlation between the two. The songs Soon I Will Be Done and Trouble in Mind demonstrate how use of language and concepts depicted within the Blues emits evidence to its emergence from the spirituals. In the spiritual Soon I Will Be Done , the writer discusses how the sufferings and difficulties that they are momentarily facing will transcend into a distant memory due to the hope that is near. This hope is evidently God as the writer clearly states Soon I will be done with the troubles of the world. Going home to live with God . Throughout the Spiritual, the writer s circumstances are ...
