California Maps
V. Beginning the Unit
Introduce three maps of California and the concept of Regions .
Show students three different maps of California (See Appendix 1, 2, and 3). Ask students what they
see, what do the maps show and what details do they notice? Students should point out the obvious
such as cities, highways, the Pacific Ocean, compass, other states surrounding California, different
colors on different maps. Tell students that map number two shows the valley in the centered colored
green, and the surrounding mountains are colored brown, as I tell them this I will point to the sections
I am talking about. With map number three, tell students that that particular map is a map of the USA,
but I am showing them so they can see where California ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Have students share with the class and have students think about the focused inquiry question.
Introduce Focused inquiry question Is life better near the coast, dessert, valley, or mountain region?
Students do not need to answer question but just bring up the question to get them engaged and
thinking where would life be better depending on the region.
YouTube Video of California s Regions and Introducing compelling question and supporting questions
Introduce Compelling question What are the main characteristics of the four geographical regions of
California? Introduce the question to students to get them thinking and engaged so they can pay
attention when watching the video.
Since some students might have prior knowledge in regards to the four regions while others might
have no knowledge, I decided to start off my unit with a video about California Regions which is a
song about the regions. After students view the video students will fill out a four square chart.

Marshmallow Research Papers
In an archeological dig at a 60,000 year old Neanderthal burial ground, discoveries were made that
indicated these early people used marshmallow, yarrow and groundsel, which are still in use today. An
ancient papyrus believed to have originated in the 16th century BCE before common era), lists over
800 recipes which refer to 700 plus herbs used medicinally, including wormwood, peppermint, myrrh,
aloe, henbane and castor oil. The papyrus also notes the used of moldy bread on sores and wounds to
prevent infection. This is interesting, but are these herbs used today? How do I use them and what are
their uses? Let s find out. On the previous slide, you discovered, 60,000 years ago, people used

bloom from June to September. The roots prefer constantly moist soil so It needs a constant supply of
water to thrive but can tolerate some dry conditions and does not like totally waterlogged soils. This
plant comes back year after year. If you have deer in your area, take care because they enjoy them for
their meals. It is recommended to plant these in the fall as the fall aids in the germination of the herb

Summary Of The Banking Concept Of Education By Paulo Freire
Paulo Freire is an author who poses questions and arguments that challenge everything that his readers
think and know. The Banking Concept of Education from Pedagogy of the Oppressed poses the
question about the education system and how teachers are narrators and students are recorders. In his
essay he discusses how the students who he refers to as containers receive their information from
teachers. However, the teachers never communicate with their subordinates. The idea of banking
suggests that students are only receiving, memorizing and receiving facts from the depositor which
made the students depositories. The main ideas drawn from this article are related to education,
knowledge and communication.

Burnout And Overtraining And Sport Psychology
This week I read the chapter on Burnout and Overtraining and Children and Sport Psychology. I found
this to be an interesting topic that many people do not consider. Due to the competitiveness of sports
or a performance setting, people are encouraged to continue training and to not take time off.
However, excessive training can lead to overtraining and burnout. This can then cause athletes to be
more susceptible to injury, concerns in interpersonal relationships such as not having time to be with
friends or added stress from parents, psychological concerns such as losing enjoyment for the activity,
etc. That is why it is important to take time to prevent burnout from happening. I know for dance, my
teacher always commented on how taking a week off from dance during the holidays can be helpful.
This is because during the school year we were stressed with academics and in November/December
we finished a stressful, busy season with Nutcracker performances. By the time of winter ... Show

Then, when we returned from the break, I found I was more in tuned to my dancing, able to balance
better, and felt more focused. That is because taking that relaxing break helped to prevent burnout. It
is important to take breaks every now and then. It can be beneficial to advancing forward in technique
and healthy for the mind. People may think taking breaks would be counterintuitive, but short breaks
can be effective for athletes or performers.
In addition, the chapter of Children and Sport Psychology discussed reasons children participate in
sport but also reasons for why they drop out. Again, applying this to dance, it is very interesting to
look at the numbers of those that start dance and those

My Day Last Year, I Played A Soccer Player Essay
One day last year, I played a soccer game. How two kids slid at me, not knowing what I was going to
get myself into that day and how it would change my life. This is a story, of how an injury impacted
my dream of becoming a soccer player. In return, that injury shed light in another direction for me.
Saturday, early morning, birds were chirping, we had the earliest game that day. I arrived early, as well
as other players. As always, we greeted each other and began to complain how early it was and how
tired we were. Our coached arrived and we began to warm up before the game and we started to do
high knees and lunges. We also, did quick sprints back and forth and we gathered in a circle and
stretched our hamstrings, quads, calf s, and hips. We began to huddle up and our coach gave us the
same generic speech. That we need to communicate and work together. He began to choose the
starting lineups; I was starting off as middle, my brother as defense and so on and so forth. We started
to line up on the filed prepared to play. We were ready to win the game, most of all just to play. This
game was also a friendly match, which there is technically no competition for anything, no trophy, no
medals just competing for the love of the game and as well winning.
The referee blew the whistle and we began with the ball. We started to play with it. I always receive
the ball second, after the forward passes it back to me I turn around and passed the ball to one of my
defensive players. We

Regulating Hypertension
Regulating Hypertension Through and Activity and Exercise Intervention According to Ackley,
Ladwig, and Makic (2017), the nursing process is an organizing framework for professional nursing
practice, a critical thinking process for the nurse to use to give the best care possible to the client (p.
2). This process is a series of steps with the intention of gathering information from an individual to
analyze if there is a problem within one s medical history. One way that a disease entity can be found
is by creating a genogram. For the purpose of this paper, the author created a genogram and was able
to determine a disease entity that was most prevalent in his or her family medical history. The disease
that was found to be the most significant was hypertension based on the assessment of each family
member and the author s strengths and risks. With the information that was observed through the
initial steps of the nursing process, the author will continue to use this process to assess and diagnose
the disease entity found within the family genogram to plan an evidence based intervention with
desired outcomes to fix the problem, to then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gordon s (2008) Functional Health Pattern will evaluate the health status and make judgment about
whether a problem or potential problem exists that requires nursing intervention. It also assesses the
status of a previously identified problem or condition in relation to projected outcomes. Lastly, it

used to help solve problems. (p. 1)
There are a couple health patterns that can be used to help control hypertension, but the functional
health pattern that will be addressed throughout the rest of the paper to help with the prevention of

Racial Prejudice and Bias Against Hispanics Essay
Racial Prejudice and Bias Against Hispanics
At some point in life, every individual has been treated like an outsider. It occurs often with children
or teenagers. However, one can still be regarded with this attitude as an adult. Furthermore, an entire
group can feel as if they are being treated as an outsider, and sadly enough, it does happen regularly.
One author, David Hernandez, spoke about these occurrences through his poem Pigeons. With his
poem, Hernandez argues that
Hispanics are never treated or viewed as insiders, but always as outsiders. Sadly enough,
I would have to agree with Hernandez s argument, for in his poem he concludes that
Hispanics are viewed as weird because of their culture, are deprived by ... Show more content on

Another argument that Hernandez brings up in his poem is that pigeons, or
Hispanics, are deprived by society. The author explains the deprivation by bluntly saying, [n]obody
wants to give pigeons a job[;] / [p]arakeets, canaries, and parrots / have the market sewn up as far as
that goes (Hernandez 1023). This is a very true statement.
Even though Hispanics can be seen working at jobs, these jobs are frequently minimum wage for pay
in which they cannot advance to higher positions. It is rare to see a
Hispanic person working in an office in which blacks and whites are the dominant customers or
employees. Also, this act of depriving is done within the school system.
Often times a child with a Hispanic background is not given the opportunity to rise to his or her level
of learning. They are often kept back and placed in lower level classes. As the author of Pigeons so
clearly argues, Hispanics are not given as many opportunities to succeed by American society.
Hernandez makes another clear argument statement with his poem Pigeons. He makes the point that
his ethnic group is not accepted by many Americans. He asks a simple but strong question within his
poem: When was the last time you saw a pigeon in someone s home? (Hernandez 1023). Hispanics are
not usually welcomed in the homes of whites or blacks for the main fact

The Wonderous Mystery of Black Holes
Just a hundred years ago in 1915 was the time Einstein created his theories of General Relativity, thus
the makings of what is known today. These theories helped predict that black holes actually occupy
the universe vastly (Wiki authors). Because black holes are virtually invisible to the human eye, since
not even light can escape their clutches, it is hard to understand something that can t be seen or even
assume it exists. Though the concept of black holes can be traced back to 1795, to Pierre Simon
Laplace, who originally proposed the idea. It was Karl Schwarzchild to be the first to start proving
black holes exist from the research of Einstein and others (Freudenrich). This was just the start of
black holes becoming a major focus of astronomers and astrophysicists globally.
The common misconception of black holes is that they are a hole in space, but the fact is, they are a
dense orb of matter that continuously grows and consumes. Popular believe is that a black hole is a
gateway through time and space but that is not the case. All someone would find at the center of a
black hole would be a dense orb a matter called the singularity, or core (Freudenrich). Black holes do
in a way distort time and space because of their immense mass yet one would die and be burnt to a
crisp before even coming close to reaching the highly dense core. If watched from the earth, it would
take an infinite amount of time to be consumed by and become a part of a black hole, but

Female Promiscuity And False-Analysis
While growing up with two brothers and one sister, we had wrestling matches between us at all times.
Showing aggressive behavior is typical amongst boys, and it is one of the most consistent documented
psychological differences between the sexes. A meta analysis was constructed showing a moderate
difference in boys having a higher rate of aggression than girls at a d=.55 (Hyde, Else Quist, 2013).
We were not punished for wrestling each other, although as soon as my parents saw my sister was
involved, we were immediately scolded. It did not matter that she was the second toughest out of us
four. This installed a certain perspective and idea that we must protect her and not put her in dangers
way.
This coincides with the Social Learning theory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The women s role varied from working alongside men in the field, in house chores, and finishing off
her day caring for her own family and community back in the slave quarters (Abrams, 2012). Men
back in those times were mainly in the field, but also worked in specialized areas such as carpenters,
blacksmiths, and shoemakers (Abrams, 2012). Later, they returned to their quarters to provide for their
families by hunting and gathering animals and making household items for the community.
African American views on gender today haven t changed drastically as women are still the main
caretaker of the family (Hyde, Else Quist, 2013). The most surprising fact was that since 1986 women
have outnumbered the men in the workforce (Hyde, Else Quist, 2013). Although forty four percent of
families are headed by black women, it notes that fifty six percent of families must be headed by men
or men and women together (Hyde, Else Quist,

Level Of Certainty
The measure of doubt or levels of certainty arguably are negotiable for either being good or bad.
Levels of certainty may be destructive upon an individual s ability and even talents. Yet the measure of
doubt can withhold someone s ability to ever find out who they are destined to be. All the while when
utilized right they can be inarguably healthy for an individual. Examples ranging from Marilyn
Monroe an extraordinary model to Lance Armstrong a cyclists in 2000 known for his legendary career.
Often many acceptors of religion tend to use their religion as a base of certainty to belittle doubts
while navigating their lives. All the while of using this new found certainty they become incoherent to
unfamiliar ideologies. This is frequent with individuals of to date, so fed up with their own ideologies
(not always having to be of religion) and ways that they can t learn anything new. Often times causing
simple tasks to be overwhelming and ultimately very frustrating for they don t see any other valid way
to solve these tasks. Leaving certainty to become more of a nuisance and way of ignorance. Just
because one door opened when you twisted the knob doesn t mean all the other doors will open with
the same twist. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Theme Of Allusion In Grass And English Con Salsa
History and Allusion in grass and English con salsa According to Kennedy and Dana, an allusion is
where a person, place or thing is referred to indirectly, either by text or as an illustration (Kennedy and
Dana 408). When allusions are used in a poem, it is assumed that the poet and the reader share a
common body of knowledge. The poems grass by Carl Sandburg and English con salsa by Gina
Valdès are both similar in the sense that they both employ allusions in their narratives. Furthermore,
the allusions in these poems discusses history and reflecting on the role of a person in history. The
poem grass has five allusions which are Austerlitz, Waterloo, Gettysburg, Ypres, and Verdun. On the
other hand, English con salsa alludes to Xochicalco, Tuxpan River, Benito Juarez, George
Washington, Donald Duck, Batman, Teocaltiche, UruapĂ n, Oaxacan, JuchitĂ n, Zapotec, Nahuatl,
Santa Tristeza, Santa Alegria, Santo Todolopuede, Lake PĂ tzcuaro, Jalisco, Santee, and La Jolla.
Interestingly, both poems discuss renowned history through the illusions. In grass, line 1 in the first
stanza states that Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo (Sandburg 126). The use of the word
Austerlitz points out to the historic Battle of Austerlitz. Historically, the Battle of Austerlitz occurred
in 1805 involving armies from French, Austria, and Russia. There was a high number of casualties in
the battle, which the phrase discusses by stating pile the bodies high (Sandburg 126). Similarly,

Cuban Reform
Since the Cuban revolution, Cuba has been characterized as having a powerful centralized government
and as being socialist in nature. Fidel Castro maintained leadership of Cuba from 1959 until 2008 and
guarded Cuba away from capitalistic ideology. Throughout his presidency, he was able to curtail the
establishment of privatization and economic liberalization. For instance, as late as 2006 the public
sector made up 78% of the economy and the private sector only made up 22% of the economy
(Oxfam).
However, with the election of Raul Castro in 2008 by the National Assembly, there seems to be a shift
in ideology that is less antagonistic toward decentralizing power, privatization, and economic
liberalization. Raul Castro has brought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Provisions to this plan include bonuses of as much as 5%of an employee s base salary just for meeting
production quotas and managers will be limited to a 30% wage increase for improved performance
(Robles). Similarly, people doing different tasks within the same premise are now being paying
differently as well. Because payment is now based on merit, and not on communitarian equality, a
person working an office position in a government company is no longer paid the same as the person
who cleans the office (Robles).
This creates ranks between different jobs and divides, in a way, blue collar work from white collar
work. This is important to the economy of Cuba in two ways. First, it promotes motivation because
people now work harder to obtain higher paying jobs. Therefore, employees now work with the
assumption that if their dedication towards their job is recognized they may be promoted to a higher
ranking job, furthering their career. Therefore, in an attempt to be promoted or hired to do a better
paying job they will work harder where they are currently. Secondly, those who were previously
underpaid are now being recognized adequately for the tasks and functions they perform. People with
more skills are now being paid what they expect to be paid. Thus, because the Cuban people are being
paid in ratio to their work status, there work ethic is much higher. It has lead to higher outputs which

Hallmark Aficionados In The Film, When Calls The Heart
If you are a fan of Hallmark s When Calls the Heart, or if you have seen a couple recent Hallmark
films in which a snobby, rich guy never seems to win the heart of his presumed intended, you may be
quite familiar with the masterful, young actor, Marcus Rosner. Though he seems to be typecast as the
bad guy, or the guy who never gets the girl, there is no denying that this dashing and delightfully
gifted actor is rising quickly in the hearts and minds of loyal Hallmark aficionados. Recently, I had the
opportunity to chat with Marcus about most things Hallmark as well as his upcoming film, Appetite

Even when I was auditioning, I was very impressed with the script. While the story might be typical,
the approach is anything but typical. I would call it a story with many layers.
An underlying theme in the film is that of being environmentally friendly. The hip approach today is
that of restaurants serving better foods and using environmentally sound methods. Fast food places are
consistently in competition with the places that serve better quality, fresher foods. And all too often,
those fast food places lose the battle.

Essay on Manet s Olympia
Art History 15 September 2008 Manet s Olympia Artist and people viewing the art work have always
had a fascination with the female nude. Even when I was a child my attention was captured by the
nude art not because I was a kid and I saw a nude lady , but it forced me to wonder more about why
the female nude was so amazing as a tool for art and why this is repeated so many times throughout
the centuries. One female nude painting in particular was the subject of controversy and exposed the
syncretism and or the power of the female nude painting. When Edouard Manet s painting Olympia,
was painted in 1863. It was hung in the Salon in Paris in 1865.It was one of Manet s most famous
paintings. It is saluted with taunts, laughter, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many didn t know what to make of it. The model in the painting was viewed more as a real subject or
person and less as a generic face of upper class in a work of art. It was so odd to some viewers they
seek to find the real women in the painting witch was unusual. It is believed Manet s technique further
inflamed the controversy surrounding Olympia. Rejecting his traditional art training, Manet chose
instead to paint with bold brush strokes, implied shapes, and vigorous, simplified forms. The paint sat
there on the surface of the canvas...It wasn t just the fact that she s a nude and she s a lower class nude,
but also the fact that she was painted in...what many people read as almost childish or unskilled
fashion, explains art historian Anne McCauley in the film. Olympia shocked in every possible way.
That is to say formally, morally, in terms of its subject matter. It had the whole range of outrage, adds
art historian Linda Nochlin. This was a good film, I enjoyed the presentation and it help my view of
art work and more of what it s about. The shock value is hard for us to understand today but at the

Protien Molecules Research Paper
The production of protien molecules happends in two stages, transcription and translation.
Transciption takes place in the nucleus. First, DNA in the nucleus, its double stranded in eukaryote
cells. DNA molecule unfolds forming two templates of DNA. RNA polymerase attaches itself to a
template of DNA and synthesizes mRNA. DNA contains the cistrons/genes which code for specific
polypeptides. The part of the strand that forms the cistron is called the transcribing strand. It acts as a
template and is transcribed to mRNA. The complementary strand which does not carry the cistron is
called the non transcribing strand. An enzyme RNA polymerase attaches itself to the promoter site
next to the cistron on the DNA and initiates transcription. The enzymes ... Show more content on

During the process of transcription, an enzyme called RNA polymerase binds to DNA at a gene s
promoter, then begins unwinding the DNA and making a complementary strand of RNA from the
exposed DNA template. Depending on the gene being transcribed, the result can be a molecule of
mRNA (messenger RNA), tRNA (transfer RNA), or rRNA (ribosomal RNA). Each type of RNA
performs a specific function later in translation. Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) along with ribosomal
proteins make up ribosomes, the workbenches on which polypeptides (proteins) are synthesized. It
turns out that it is actually rRNA, and not a protein, in the large subunit of the ribosome that performs
the peptidyl transferase function of linking amino acids together via peptide bonds. In eukaryotes, the
genes coding for rRNAs are located in the nucleolus of the nucleus. A ribosome has 3 binding sites: an
A (aminoacyl) site, a P (peptidyl) site, and an E (exit) site. The message carrying the information
needed to make a particular polypeptide exists in the mRNA molecule. It binds with a ribosome and
the ribosome starts reading it one codon 3 consecutive mRNA bases at a

What Australopithecus Afarensis Skeleton Known As `` Lucy...
Multiple Choice: 1. (D) Donald Johanson discovered the australopithecus afarensis skeleton known as
Lucy . Lucy was named as such after the Beatles song Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds , as it had been
playing in the expedition camp. Using a famous song to name the skeleton increased public awareness
of early humans and evolution studies. Donald Johanson s discovery allowed researchers a much
better understanding of what australopithecus afarensis looked like. 2. (D) A specialist in the study of
early civilization and early humans is known as a paleoanthropologist. This makes sense as the root of
the word paleoanthropologist is the Greek palaeos (old/ancient), and anthrōpos (man). As such,
paleontologist is a person who studies ancient man, which would cover both early humans and early
civilizations. 3. (B) The recognizable remains of a plant or animal are known as fossils. Unlike
artifacts, fossils are not made by man and instead come from living things. Those who study fossils
are known as paleontologists. The word fossil comes from the Latin word fossilis , which means
found by digging . 4. (D) Charles Darwin wrote On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural
Selection , published in 1859. His book explained the theory of evolution, and the process of natural
selection. Darwin s work was met with much dissent at the time of its release, as what he proposes
directly conflicts with many Christian beliefs on the creation of the world. Today, the

Anatomy of Digestive, Circulatory, and Urinary Systems
A Fantastic Voyage Anatomy of Digestive, Circulatory Urinary Systems This is me, Beth Cooper. I
have been shrunk again to the size of 8 microns only. In my mini sub, I am now entering into the
mouth of a 55 years old man. He just had a lot of junk food including Hamburger, French Fries and
Root beer (which is my carrier as well). It is amazing to see that the digestion process has already
started in the mouth of this man. The food has been broken down in to swallow able portions during
chewing process. Bits of French fries coupled with beer are still present in his mouth and enzymes are
acting on this food. It is the saliva which acts as the first digestive reactor, secreted through salivary
glands. Now that the food has been chewed well, it is now swallowed into esophagus. Esophagus is a
long tube which acts as a path to the main digestive organ: the stomach. However, it is important to
note that it s not just a carrier of the food but also a digestive organ itself. The enzymes secreted in the
esophagus further facilitate the digestion process. The esophagus is a long muscular tube. I can feel its
rhythmic motion while I am moving down the tube along with the food. This rhythmic motion helps
the food to reach the stomach. I can t help noticing the gall bladder while passing by the liver while
entering into stomach (Netter, 2006). I am now entering into stomach which is a big bag itself. It is a
sac like structure which is moving in a churning motion and is full of

Kanye West, Matisyahu and Lupe Fiasco
In 21st century North America, there is a strange, seemingly unanimous idea that, to fit the norm, one
must be white, Christian and male. While, over the course of the latter 20th century and in the past
decade, this has changed, the norm is very much still Christian and male; African Americans now fit
into the All American stereotype, for the most part. However, there are, of course, outliers deviants
from the standard norm; these outliers make one wonder what the norm truly is, why it is so, how did
it get to be that way, and what the norm will be in the future. Kanye West s 2004 single titled Jesus
Walks is written as a ode to Jesus helping him and every other Christian through hard times in their

The main theme of King Without a Crown is that, in order to truly worship God, people need to leave
their egos on the wayside and realize there is something better in life that can only be found with God.
While Jesus Walks was more of a persuasive song, attempting to turn atheists into Christians, this is
not seen in King Without a Crown. Matisyahu is only praising God; he says, without [God] there s no
me, you re the air that I breathe, for example. Matisyahu describes his relationship with God as one
that is like the relationship one has with food, for nourishment. He also says that he no longer has the
need for drugs, sinesemilla, for it would only bring [him] down. The most notable portion of the music
video is at the very end; Matisyahu is walking down a street and, as he turns around a corner, meets a
boy. Matisyahu touches the boy on the shoulder and, it is as though the boy has reached a sort of
enlightenment. This is symbolized by the immortalization of the boy s portrait on the high, wooden
fence behind them, which had previously shown a video of Matisyahu performing the song. Finally is
Lupe Fiasco s Muhammad Walks, which is a direct sample of Jesus Walks. Everything is the same
minus the lyrics, which are rapped by Lupe and is about Islam and its prophets comparable to Jesus
Walks, but from a Muslim perspective. The most notable aspect of the song is how Jesus

Definition Of Income Inequality
In my opinion, one of the most controversial topic in the recent election was Income Inequality. The
real reason people are unable to talk others into believing them when they argue on the Income
Equality is because not everyone knows the correct definition of Income Inequality. Income inequality
means unequal distribution of household and income in the economy. Income inequality is also
presented as the percentage of income to a percentage of the population ( Income Inequality ) which
means the difference between the amounts of money each family spend on themselves. On the other
hand, economic inequality is measured among groups in the population or between countries.
(Wikipedia, Economic inequality ) In my opinion, income inequality is a problem that is faced by
every country, but it is not a problem that should be tackled immediately. The rich are money making
machines. Today, the top mega wealthy the top 1% earn an average of $1.3 million a year. It s more
than three times as much as the 1980s, when the rich only made $428,000; on average... Meanwhile,
the bottom 50% of the American population earned an average of $16,000 in pre tax income in 1980.
That hasn t changed in over three decades (Long, Inequality in America is getting worse); state that
the way the United States economy has been it is a home of many rich people. One of the downsides
of living in US that top 1% earning are increasing dramatically every year, whereas the bottom 50% of

Persuasive Essay On Stem Cell Technology
I partially support the development of this technology, however; I am not completely sure if this

The War of the Roses and Shakespeare
There are two sides to every issue. The Wars of the Roses went from 1455 1485 AD, which were
fought between the Lancastrians and the Yorks. The Lancastrians was a house descended from John of
Gaunt, this sides symbol was a Red Rose. The York s was a house descended from the second and
fourth son of Edward III, their symbol was a White Rose. Shakespeare wrote a play about Richard III,
taking place three months after the Wars of the Roses ended. Shakespeare s play is summing up
Richard doing anything and killing whoever he had to so he could get to the throne. This play was full
of drama and gore. Shakespeare generally does a good job of explaining historical information, but not
everything was accurate about Richard III. The Wars of the Roses was caused for a number of
different reasons. Some of the causes were social and financial problems as a result of the Hundred
Years War, descendants of King Edward III fighting for the throne, and disgust over the Lancastrian
ruler King Henry VI, who was mentally unstable. General information about the Wars of the Roses
was that it was a battle between two families both wanting the throne, each family was represented
with a rose. The wars occurred over the course of thirty years. From 1455 1460 Richard of York and
his sponsors fought against Margaret of Anjou acting inlace of her husband Henry VI. On December
30, 1460 Richard of York was killed in the Battle of Wakerfield. The descendants of Edward the III

Dramatic Elements In Aunt Raini
In this theatrical production Aunt Raini, directed by the playwright Tom Smith and produced by
Pacific Lutheran University, has successfully perform theatrical elements within different perspective
of the performance, while the performance has connected and integrated the content based from the
script stories. For instance, from a stage production perspective, the constructing style of the scenes,
walls, flats or hand props and the accurate placement of stage properties on stage has specified the
background story setting while different style of composing, designing and painting of the scenery
represent the amount of efforts and works that whole crew had put in during the process of theater
production.
The story of the theatrical performance Aunt Raini was inspired by Leni Riefenstahl, a world
renowned filmmaker who creates the documentary Triumph of the Will of the Reich Party Congress
1934 in Nuremberg. Sadly, most of Riefenstahl s works after this documentary are reference as pieces
of propaganda for the Nazi Party, which led to her to be misunderstood and isolated within the art and
film communities throughout her lifetime. In this performance, Leni Riefenstahl, also reference as the
protagonist character of Aunt Raini , has come to New York City to visit her grandniece Katherine. On
the other hand, Katherine, known as The Great Revealer for her ability to find the best up and coming
artists on the Time magazine, is a successful art gallery owner. Meanwhile, One of

The Impact Of Lesbian And Gay Marriage
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) issues have continuously triggered debates and
controversies among various individuals across the globe. The rising concerns leading to the
differences in opinions regarding LGBT emanate from the point of perceptions, cultural beliefs,
religious values and political basis. Due to the dynamics of not accepting the existence of the LGBT
people by some individuals in their communities, the LGBTs have found it hard to express themselves
freely and enjoy equal rights just like a regular citizen should.
In some communities, extreme measures have been taken against individuals suspected to be lesbian
or gay because of the way the public views the LGBT people. It is disheartening and traumatizing for
most of them to come out and express themselves openly. Some have been forced to lead double
standards. However, the situation has changed in Brazil and in America where laws and policies have
been developed to support and protect the LGBT community. Several states in the United States of
America and Brazil have demonstrated recognition and acceptance of the lesbian and gay community
through the passing and legalization of same sex marriages. The governments have issued bans on
discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity in the workplace and other areas
where the lesbians and gays got unequal treatment.
One of the policies considered significantly within the LGBT rights is the same sex marriage. Gay

The Indian Act Was Enacted In 1867 By Parliament Of Canada
The Indian Act was enacted in 1867 by the Parliament of Canada. The Department of Aboriginal
Affairs and Northern Development administered the act. The act defines who an Indian is and the
legal rights of the Aboriginal people in Canada. Regulation of the economic system between
aboriginal people and the government of Canada is included in the Indian Act. It also includes the
power the ministers have on the aboriginal people including children and disabled Aboriginals. If the
laws are not obeyed, the punishment is written in the act. The Indian Act was influenced by the
legislative foundation of the Royal Proclamation, 1763, which recognized Aboriginals as a distinct
political unit (Residential schools). The Royal Proclamation, 1763, thought that it was their duty to
protect the Aboriginal people from the Canadian society. The Royal Proclamation, 1763, had the
responsibility for Aboriginal affairs in Canada with British imperial authorities. However, by the mid
1800s Britain began to transfer this responsibility to Canadian colonies. Then the Canadian authorities
passed the First Indian Act. Over the years many amendments have been made to the Indian Act.The
Indian act passed out a law that any children under the ages of 16 had to study at Residential schools
(Residential schools), the children there were physically abused, especially girls. (Churchill, 55 56).

Positives And Cons Of Neo Liberalism
Neo liberalism has its ruts in 1938 when it was firstly introduced by the German scholar Alexander
Rusto in a conference hold for intellectuals by Luis Rougier, at the time to be neoliberal meant to
encourage a modern economic policy with state intervention.
Although often used as a trend of globalization and studied mostly in economic, neo liberalism is very
complex. The varieties of values, ideologies, and practices of neo liberalism have a significant affect
in the economic, political, and cultural aspects of the society. Martinez and Garcia(2000) define neo
liberalism as:
A set of economic policies that have become widespread during the last 25 years or so. You can
clearly see the effects of neo liberalism here as the rich grow richer and the poor grow poorer. Around
the world, neo liberalism has been imposed by powerful financial institutions like the International
Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and the Inter American Development Bank. The capitalist
crisis over the last 25 years, with its shrinking profit rates, inspired the corporate elite to revive
economic liberalism. That s what makes it neo or new.
The term neo liberalism it references in the majority of the cases to the policies and processes which

Breakfast Is Essential For Children And Adults Alike
Breakfast?
While most people would not consider skipping lunch or dinner, numerous people think nothing of
trying to get through the morning on an empty stomach. In the hustle and bustle of the morning,
breakfast falls last on their list of priorities. Some may even think that a sip of coffee or Redbull will
give them enough energy until lunch. A well balanced breakfast can be a cup of yogurt with granola,
and some fruit, scrambled eggs with toast and orange juice or cream cheese on a whole grain bagel
with orange juice or milk. Eating a well balanced breakfast is essential for children and adults alike
because it provides fundamental nutrients, improves mental and physical health.
The word breakfast was first used in 1463 by an English women, but breakfast was eaten way before
then. Breakfast goes as far back as 7000 B.C. Back then people in the middle east were eating cereals
made out of wheat and barley. The Roman soldiers ate a kind of porridge called pulmentus in the
mornings to strengthen them for battle. Breakfast officially started to be a daily activity for everyday
people in the early 19th century. The English extended breakfast to include 2 courses. The first course
consists of porridge. It is followed by a full English breakfast which includes toast with eggs and
bacon or fish. Later, breakfast expanded to include cold joint of meat, game pies, broiled mackerel,

Music Is A Product Of Human Intention And Perception Essay
Without the human intention, perception, and interpretation of sound, then the existence of music
would be imaginary. Music includes talking words in a way that the person creates a sound that is
made with the intention of being music (Deutsch, Diana 10 13, Justus Timothy., 33 40). Besides,
people can perceive silence and sound and put them together so as to call the outcome music. In
Bakan s fourth proposition, he identifies the approach as the Human Intention and Perception (HIP)
approach (Resnicow, Joel E., 10 22). In other words, the proposition tries to suggest that music is
inseparable from the makers; or more specifically the people who perceive and experience it. Bakan
gives numerous examples to show that music is a product of human intention and perception. This
paper conducts research and gives appropriate examples to show that music is only identified as music
if the person is making it has the intention for their words to be music.
To understand why music is a product of human intention and perception, we start by defining or
understanding the nature of music. Music is defined as the sounds or combination of vocals and
instruments in a way that it produces a form of beauty, expression, or harmony of emotions. Arguably,
people compose or make music through many ways (Resnicow, Joel E., 20 29). While some people
might compose music without incorporating instruments, others use instruments to produce beats that
match with their sounds. However, to argue that the

The Los Angeles Area Is A Major Development Boom
Introduction
The Los Angeles area is currently undergoing a major development boom but it has not included
enough affordable housing to to address housing shortages and great housing costs. Within the past
few years the area has begun to address its severe urban sprawl issues by providing developers with
density bonuses and improving the walkability of certain urban centers but this still has not done
enough to keep pace with the housing demand.
How can Los Angeles meet the housing needs of this extremely large and rapidly growing population
in a sustainable fashion? The Los Angeles area doesn t need more sprawl that s for sure and the shear
size of the city itself lends itself to a logical step: Urban Infill.
What is Urban Infill?
Urban infill is defined as new development that is sited on vacant or undeveloped land within an
existing community, and that is enclosed by other types of development. The term urban infill itself
implies that existing land is mostly built out and what is being built is in effect filling in the gaps. The
term most commonly refers to building single family homes in existing neighborhoods but may also
be used to describe new development in commercial, office or mixed use areas. (National League of
Cities, Sustainable Cities Institute)

The Banking Concept of Education from Pedagogy of the Oppressed poses the question about the education system and how teachers are narrators and students are recorders. In his essay he discusses how the students who he refers to as containers receive their information from teachers. However, the teachers never communicate with their subordinates. • 6. Burnout And Overtraining And Sport Psychology This week I read the chapter on Burnout and Overtraining and Children and Sport Psychology. I found this to be an interesting topic that many people do not consider. Due to the competitiveness of sports or a performance setting, people are encouraged to continue training and to not take time off. However, excessive training can lead to overtraining and burnout. This can then cause athletes to be more susceptible to injury, concerns in interpersonal relationships such as not having time to be with friends or added stress from parents, psychological concerns such as losing enjoyment for the activity, etc. That is why it is important to take time to prevent burnout from happening. I know for dance, my teacher always commented on how taking a week off from dance during the holidays can be helpful. This is because during the school year we were stressed with academics and in November/December we finished a stressful, busy season with Nutcracker performances. By the time of winter ... That is because taking that relaxing break helped to prevent burnout. It is important to take breaks every now and then. It can be beneficial to advancing forward in technique and healthy for the mind. People may think taking breaks would be counterintuitive, but short breaks can be effective for athletes or performers. In addition, the chapter of Children and Sport Psychology discussed reasons children participate in sport but also reasons for why they drop out. • 7. My Day Last Year, I Played A Soccer Player Essay One day last year, I played a soccer game. How two kids slid at me, not knowing what I was going to get myself into that day and how it would change my life. This is a story, of how an injury impacted my dream of becoming a soccer player. In return, that injury shed light in another direction for me. Saturday, early morning, birds were chirping, we had the earliest game that day. I arrived early, as well as other players. As always, we greeted each other and began to complain how early it was and how tired we were. Our coached arrived and we began to warm up before the game and we started to do high knees and lunges. We also, did quick sprints back and forth and we gathered in a circle and stretched our hamstrings, quads, calf s, and hips. We began to huddle up and our coach gave us the same generic speech. That we need to communicate and work together. He began to choose the starting lineups; I was starting off as middle, my brother as defense and so on and so forth. We started to line up on the filed prepared to play. We were ready to win the game, most of all just to play. This game was also a friendly match, which there is technically no competition for anything, no trophy, no medals just competing for the love of the game and as well winning. The referee blew the whistle and we began with the ball. We started to play with it. I always receive the ball second, after the forward passes it back to me I turn around and passed the ball to one of my defensive players. We ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Regulating Hypertension Regulating Hypertension Through and Activity and Exercise Intervention According to Ackley, Ladwig, and Makic (2017), the nursing process is an organizing framework for professional nursing practice, a critical thinking process for the nurse to use to give the best care possible to the client (p. 2). This process is a series of steps with the intention of gathering information from an individual to analyze if there is a problem within one s medical history. One way that a disease entity can be found is by creating a genogram. For the purpose of this paper, the author created a genogram and was able to determine a disease entity that was most prevalent in his or her family medical history. The disease that was found to be the most significant was hypertension based on the assessment of each family member and the author s strengths and risks. With the information that was observed through the initial steps of the nursing process, the author will continue to use this process to assess and diagnose the disease entity found within the family genogram to plan an evidence based intervention with desired outcomes to fix the problem, to then ... • 10. Racial Prejudice and Bias Against Hispanics Essay Racial Prejudice and Bias Against Hispanics At some point in life, every individual has been treated like an outsider. It occurs often with children or teenagers. However, one can still be regarded with this attitude as an adult. Furthermore, an entire group can feel as if they are being treated as an outsider, and sadly enough, it does happen regularly. One author, David Hernandez, spoke about these occurrences through his poem Pigeons. With his poem, Hernandez argues that Hispanics are never treated or viewed as insiders, but always as outsiders. Sadly enough, I would have to agree with Hernandez s argument, for in his poem he concludes that Hispanics are viewed as weird because of their culture, are deprived by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another argument that Hernandez brings up in his poem is that pigeons, or Hispanics, are deprived by society. The author explains the deprivation by bluntly saying, [n]obody wants to give pigeons a job[;] / [p]arakeets, canaries, and parrots / have the market sewn up as far as that goes (Hernandez 1023). This is a very true statement. Even though Hispanics can be seen working at jobs, these jobs are frequently minimum wage for pay in which they cannot advance to higher positions. It is rare to see a Hispanic person working in an office in which blacks and whites are the dominant customers or employees. Also, this act of depriving is done within the school system. Often times a child with a Hispanic background is not given the opportunity to rise to his or her level of learning. They are often kept back and placed in lower level classes. As the author of Pigeons so clearly argues, Hispanics are not given as many opportunities to succeed by American society. Hernandez makes another clear argument statement with his poem Pigeons. He makes the point that his ethnic group is not accepted by many Americans. He asks a simple but strong question within his poem: When was the last time you saw a pigeon in someone s home? (Hernandez 1023). Hispanics are not usually welcomed in the homes of whites or blacks for the main fact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Wonderous Mystery of Black Holes Just a hundred years ago in 1915 was the time Einstein created his theories of General Relativity, thus the makings of what is known today. These theories helped predict that black holes actually occupy the universe vastly (Wiki authors). Because black holes are virtually invisible to the human eye, since not even light can escape their clutches, it is hard to understand something that can t be seen or even assume it exists. Though the concept of black holes can be traced back to 1795, to Pierre Simon Laplace, who originally proposed the idea. It was Karl Schwarzchild to be the first to start proving black holes exist from the research of Einstein and others (Freudenrich). This was just the start of black holes becoming a major focus of astronomers and astrophysicists globally. The common misconception of black holes is that they are a hole in space, but the fact is, they are a dense orb of matter that continuously grows and consumes. Popular believe is that a black hole is a gateway through time and space but that is not the case. All someone would find at the center of a black hole would be a dense orb a matter called the singularity, or core (Freudenrich). Black holes do in a way distort time and space because of their immense mass yet one would die and be burnt to a crisp before even coming close to reaching the highly dense core. If watched from the earth, it would take an infinite amount of time to be consumed by and become a part of a black hole, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Showing aggressive behavior is typical amongst boys, and it is one of the most consistent documented psychological differences between the sexes. A meta analysis was constructed showing a moderate difference in boys having a higher rate of aggression than girls at a d=.55 (Hyde, Else Quist, 2013). We were not punished for wrestling each other, although as soon as my parents saw my sister was involved, we were immediately scolded. Levels of certainty may be destructive upon an individual s ability and even talents. Yet the measure of doubt can withhold someone s ability to ever find out who they are destined to be. All the while when utilized right they can be inarguably healthy for an individual. Examples ranging from Marilyn Monroe an extraordinary model to Lance Armstrong a cyclists in 2000 known for his legendary career. Often many acceptors of religion tend to use their religion as a base of certainty to belittle doubts while navigating their lives. All the while of using this new found certainty they become incoherent to unfamiliar ideologies. This is frequent with individuals of to date, so fed up with their own ideologies (not always having to be of religion) and ways that they can t learn anything new. • 15. Theme Of Allusion In Grass And English Con Salsa History and Allusion in grass and English con salsa According to Kennedy and Dana, an allusion is where a person, place or thing is referred to indirectly, either by text or as an illustration (Kennedy and Dana 408). When allusions are used in a poem, it is assumed that the poet and the reader share a common body of knowledge. The poems grass by Carl Sandburg and English con salsa by Gina Valdès are both similar in the sense that they both employ allusions in their narratives. Furthermore, the allusions in these poems discusses history and reflecting on the role of a person in history. The poem grass has five allusions which are Austerlitz, Waterloo, Gettysburg, Ypres, and Verdun. On the other hand, English con salsa alludes to Xochicalco, Tuxpan River, Benito Juarez, George Washington, Donald Duck, Batman, Teocaltiche, UruapĂ n, Oaxacan, JuchitĂ n, Zapotec, Nahuatl, Santa Tristeza, Santa Alegria, Santo Todolopuede, Lake PĂ tzcuaro, Jalisco, Santee, and La Jolla. Interestingly, both poems discuss renowned history through the illusions. In grass, line 1 in the first stanza states that Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo (Sandburg 126). The use of the word Austerlitz points out to the historic Battle of Austerlitz. Historically, the Battle of Austerlitz occurred in 1805 involving armies from French, Austria, and Russia. Fidel Castro maintained leadership of Cuba from 1959 until 2008 and guarded Cuba away from capitalistic ideology. For instance, as late as 2006 the public sector made up 78% of the economy and the private sector only made up 22% of the economy (Oxfam). Similarly, people doing different tasks within the same premise are now being paying differently as well. Because payment is now based on merit, and not on communitarian equality, a person working an office position in a government company is no longer paid the same as the person who cleans the office (Robles). This creates ranks between different jobs and divides, in a way, blue collar work from white collar work. This is important to the economy of Cuba in two ways. First, it promotes motivation because people now work harder to obtain higher paying jobs. Therefore, employees now work with the assumption that if their dedication towards their job is recognized they may be promoted to a higher ranking job, furthering their career. Therefore, in an attempt to be promoted or hired to do a better paying job they will work harder where they are currently. Secondly, those who were previously underpaid are now being recognized adequately for the tasks and functions they perform. People with more skills are now being paid what they expect to be paid. First, DNA in the nucleus, its double stranded in eukaryote cells. DNA molecule unfolds forming two templates of DNA. RNA polymerase attaches itself to a template of DNA and synthesizes mRNA. DNA contains the cistrons/genes which code for specific polypeptides. The part of the strand that forms the cistron is called the transcribing strand. It acts as a template and is transcribed to mRNA. The complementary strand which does not carry the cistron is called the non transcribing strand. An enzyme RNA polymerase attaches itself to the promoter site next to the cistron on the DNA and initiates transcription. The enzymes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the process of transcription, an enzyme called RNA polymerase binds to DNA at a gene s promoter, then begins unwinding the DNA and making a complementary strand of RNA from the exposed DNA template. Depending on the gene being transcribed, the result can be a molecule of mRNA (messenger RNA), tRNA (transfer RNA), or rRNA (ribosomal RNA). Each type of RNA performs a specific function later in translation. Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) along with ribosomal proteins make up ribosomes, the workbenches on which polypeptides (proteins) are synthesized. It turns out that it is actually rRNA, and not a protein, in the large subunit of the ribosome that performs the peptidyl transferase function of linking amino acids together via peptide bonds. In eukaryotes, the genes coding for rRNAs are located in the nucleolus of the nucleus. A ribosome has 3 binding sites: an A (aminoacyl) site, a P (peptidyl) site, and an E (exit) site. The message carrying the information needed to make a particular polypeptide exists in the mRNA molecule. The Department of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development administered the act. The act defines who an Indian is and the legal rights of the Aboriginal people in Canada. Regulation of the economic system between aboriginal people and the government of Canada is included in the Indian Act. It also includes the power the ministers have on the aboriginal people including children and disabled Aboriginals. If the laws are not obeyed, the punishment is written in the act. The Indian Act was influenced by the legislative foundation of the Royal Proclamation, 1763, which recognized Aboriginals as a distinct political unit (Residential schools). The Royal Proclamation, 1763, thought that it was their duty to protect the Aboriginal people from the Canadian society. The Royal Proclamation, 1763, had the responsibility for Aboriginal affairs in Canada with British imperial authorities. However, by the mid 1800s Britain began to transfer this responsibility to Canadian colonies. Then the Canadian authorities passed the First Indian Act. The varieties of values, ideologies, and practices of neo liberalism have a significant affect in the economic, political, and cultural aspects of the society. Martinez and Garcia(2000) define neo liberalism as: A set of economic policies that have become widespread during the last 25 years or so. You can clearly see the effects of neo liberalism here as the rich grow richer and the poor grow poorer. Around the world, neo liberalism has been imposed by powerful financial institutions like the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and the Inter American Development Bank. The capitalist crisis over the last 25 years, with its shrinking profit rates, inspired the corporate elite to revive economic liberalism. That s what makes it neo or new. The term neo liberalism it references in the majority of the cases to the policies and processes which influences the social life ( whereby a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 41. Music Is A Product Of Human Intention And Perception Essay Without the human intention, perception, and interpretation of sound, then the existence of music would be imaginary. Music includes talking words in a way that the person creates a sound that is made with the intention of being music (Deutsch, Diana 10 13, Justus Timothy., 33 40). Besides, people can perceive silence and sound and put them together so as to call the outcome music. In Bakan s fourth proposition, he identifies the approach as the Human Intention and Perception (HIP) approach (Resnicow, Joel E., 10 22). In other words, the proposition tries to suggest that music is inseparable from the makers; or more specifically the people who perceive and experience it. Bakan gives numerous examples to show that music is a product of human intention and perception. This paper conducts research and gives appropriate examples to show that music is only identified as music if the person is making it has the intention for their words to be music. To understand why music is a product of human intention and perception, we start by defining or understanding the nature of music. Music is defined as the sounds or combination of vocals and instruments in a way that it produces a form of beauty, expression, or harmony of emotions. Arguably, people compose or make music through many ways (Resnicow, Joel E., 20 29). While some people might compose music without incorporating instruments, others use instruments to produce beats that match with their sounds. However, to argue that the ... • 42. The Los Angeles Area Is A Major Development Boom Introduction The Los Angeles area is currently undergoing a major development boom but it has not included enough affordable housing to to address housing shortages and great housing costs. Within the past few years the area has begun to address its severe urban sprawl issues by providing developers with density bonuses and improving the walkability of certain urban centers but this still has not done enough to keep pace with the housing demand. How can Los Angeles meet the housing needs of this extremely large and rapidly growing population in a sustainable fashion? The Los Angeles area doesn t need more sprawl that s for sure and the shear size of the city itself lends itself to a logical step: Urban Infill. What is Urban Infill? Urban infill is defined as new development that is sited on vacant or undeveloped land within an existing community, and that is enclosed by other types of development. The term urban infill itself implies that existing land is mostly built out and what is being built is in effect filling in the gaps. The term most commonly refers to building single family homes in existing neighborhoods but may also be used to describe new development in commercial, office or mixed use areas. (National League of Cities, Sustainable Cities Institute) Literature Review In my research I found that according to a recent McKinsey Global Institute report Los Angeles County happens to have an abundance of vacant lots as well as underutilized lots that are zoned ...
