Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

BBFC stands for The British Board of Film Classification.
It is an independent, non-governmental company that classifies
films by age ratings.
It was created in 1912.
It has rated videos/DVDs since the Video Recordings Act was
passed in 1984.
The BBFC also rates video games in the way it does with movies.
3. How does it rate films?
The BBFC rates films depending on its content. It looks at individual films in
order to give warnings and prevent younger people seeing things that
may be damaging. The following are some examples of what may
increase a movies age rating:
Discrimination,
Drugs,
Imitable behaviour,
Language,
Nudity,
Sex,
Threat,
Violence.
4. What rating is The Pyre likely to be
and why?
After doing research into our target audience and
looking at other horror films, for example the audience
profile and detailed video analyses, we have obtained
multiple good reasons to aim for a 15+ rating. The main
reasons for this is that our potential audience would be
largest than if it was an 18+, which is important seen as so
our audience questionnaires revealed a large amount of
15-18 year olds favour horror over other genres.
As a result, this is likely to increase the amount of money
made from the film. Evidence of this working can be
shown in other 15+ rated films such as I Am Legend and
Insidious, which are both recognised as very popular and
successful modern horrors.
5. How will we obtain this rating from
the BBFC?
We aim to follow the rules set out by the
BBFC that make a film allegeable for the
age rating of 15+. These can be seen on
their website, they show specific
information on the lenience of each thing
that effects the rating. We believe it will
not be difficult to follow these guidelines
as our film will not contain nudity, sex or a
large amount of imitable behaviour.
Although we may have to focus on
language, threat and violence.
