Basic dyes are water-soluble cationic dyes that contain amino groups and produce bright shades on textiles like wool, silk, and acrylic. They have an unlimited shade range, are soluble in water, have good wet fastness properties but poor light fastness. Basic dyes are commonly used for dyeing wool, silk, acrylic and paper and show good brightness and tinctorial value though have limitations of poor shade stability and lightfastness.
