the idea of the band being rebellious, like school
teenagers. This idea is developed through the setting
of the image, the band are stood within very close
proximity to each other in front of a black brick wall
creating a sense of imprisonment. The fact that the
image is a wide shot represents the unity of the band.
It also uses the rule of thirds, as it has a primary
optical area which focuses on the brick wall, followed by the centre of the image consisting of the lead

any makeup. She is presented as a very natural looking artist and again
we can link this with nature which we associate with country music.
The bright colours on her dress represent the genre pop. The pink lip
gloss/lipstick she is wearing shows that she is feminine, and it is also a
colour that connotes love which many of her songs are about. The
terminal area consists of a white chair/bench which she is sat on, and
this use of colour presents the innocence and calmness in her music.

band. The image uses the rule of thirds in which the lead singer
is positioned in the primary optical area so he is the first person
we see, just how we would expect for this type of band.
Moreover, he is positioned further away from the rest of the
band, more towards the camera than the other members. Both
of these are to show his importance in the band. In the centre
of the image is a lamp which is the brightest thing in the image.
The colour yellow is bright to represent some of their more
upbeat songs. It is positioned besides the dark, dull clothing
they are wearing so the image represents both the genres of
their music, rock and indie. They also all have long hair which
we would associate with both genres of music.
