The document lists and describes various props that were used in a music video to portray the artists and genre in a specific way. 2. Ukulele
 We decided to use a ukulele due to the fact that we were inspired from previously
watching Edward and The Magnetic Zeros music video – Home. The props used within
their music video such as the guitar, ukulele and other musical instruments represent
that indie movement is based around a group of people playing their instruments and
enjoying themselves. Therefore, we wanted our artists to be represented as
expressive/chilled out by our target audience of 16-25 year old male and females and
thought that the use of a ukulele would help portray this theme towards our target
audience.
 The image to the right demonstrates our female artist holding the ukulele in this
particular frame and this therefore conforms to The Magnetic Zeros music video –
Home as both the male and female artists take turns when holding/playing the
instruments presented within that particular music video, which we will then to follow
as a result.

3. Picnic blanket
 We have also decided to use a picnic blanket in order to represent intertextuality
throughout our music video by relating the close up of the picnic shot to a key shot
within the Fault In Our Stars movie trailer, which our target audience may recognise us
re-creating.
 However, we also wanted to use a picnic blanket in order to demonstrate our artists
secret lust for one and other and the multi-coloured patterns on the picnic blanket
could also represent our artists emotions at different points throughout our music
video.
 Therefore, the images to the right represent the close up shot in which we were going
for and the similarity in which we wanted to achieve. However, although Hazel from the
Fault In Our Stars trailer doesn’t lay on a blanket we wanted to juxtapose to the film
trailer slightly so that the prop would conform to our indie genre.

4. Picnic bench
 We decided to use a picnic bench as a prop as we thought that it would demonstrate
our artists feelings towards one and other. However, at the same time we also wanted
to portray that fact that it was a ‘secret love’ in which they expressed towards each
other, therefore this is why we have decided for their heads to be facing away from
each other.
 We decided that a bench would be an appropriate prop in order to demonstrate our
artists love for the outdoors and the fact in which they want to be seen as free, due to
them being out in the open. We used this prop as we thought that it would be able to
symbolise their day-to-day life, due to the fact that they’re looking at their hometown.
Therefore, the suitable use of the bench will therefore connote that are artists are at
one with each other and know what the other one likes even without expressing their
true feeling towards one and other.

5. Shell
 We have decided to use a shell as a prop whilst filming at Southend Beach due to
the fact that it will be a connotation to the setting. We felt that a shell would be an
appropriate prop due to the fact that it connotes a calming vibe. However, we
discussed to film our reverse shot within the shell due to the fact that the circle in
the shell could allow us to do this.
 However, looking back on this idea we found it hard to achieve, therefore we
scrapped this idea, yet we still used/kept the shell as a prop throughout.

6. Sunglasses
 We decided for Erica (our female artist) to wear sunglasses whilst we filmed at the
beach in order to juxtapose the different in shots from the nature shots and to
reinforce the different setting and lighting towards our target audience.
 We also wanted to represent her as stylist throughout our music video and felt
that sunglasses would be an effective prop in order to represent/reinforce her
style towards our audience.

7. Overall …
 The props we decided to use were all suitable due to the fact that they
represented our indie genre well and connoted our artists as vibrant individuals.
We felt that all of the prop include throughout were effective as they all achieved
their purpose in which we required them for. Therefore, adding to the uniqueness
of our song as a result.
