1. There is an informal balance using the colour of the

connotations of the black jackets represent rebellion,
aggression with the rock indie image attracting a
younger rebellious audience. The fact the front man is
looking away from the camera connotes a statement
of rebellion against the camera, the media. The plain
brick background the fact they’re outside makes them
seem of a working class nature (like everyone else)
attracting a wider fan base. This image represents the
indie theme of rebellion with political statements and
aggression aimed at a younger audience and
represents a masculine attitude .
The name of the band is shown in the terminal area
showing the focus is on the title. There’s a colour
imbalance shown in the costume choice blue t-shirt ,
black leather jackets. The black leather jackets also show
connotations of aggression rebellion in terms of them
being associated with the Rock image. The picture is
imbalanced because of the newspaper flying around
them which takes the focus slightly off the band but the
lighting in the primary optical area still focuses the
audience to the band. Also the alignment of the band
with the main singer being closer forward in the image
displays him to be the stronger personality in the group.
The image represents the rebellious attitude similarly to
the previous image a rebellious aggressive masculine
attitude, making a political statement. There’s also
connotations of a statement against the media the fact
that there’s a newspaper flying around them also that
there popular having their name in the paper..

2. The use of the rule of thirds is used in
this photograph .In comparison to the
band images; this image is a closer
focus. It has bright lighting in the
Primary optical area. Also she’s
wearing a lot of jewellery which would
attract the attention of young girls.
Furthermore in contrast to the band
images Rihanna is wearing White
clothes lighter colouring representing a
mainstream less rebellious attitude.
The expression on her face smiling in
contrast to the stern serious looks of
the band photos represents a friendlier
mainstream image attracting a female
audience.
