• Improve traffic flow through the intersection by improving
geometry, signal operations, accessibility, and safety.
Project Purpose

Project Background
• Partial funding for alternative analysis was included in the
Transportation Priorities Plan approved by the Board in 2014
• Study started March 2016
• Conceptual design and analysis of four alternatives

Summary of Public Comments
• 32 comments received
• Many comments indicated an improvement is needed for
the congestion in the area
• Roundabout and T-Intersection (A.1) were the
suggested alternatives citizens preferred
• Pedestrian and cyclist access is important for mobility
and access to McLean’s Downtown and recreational use
• Improvement will ease cross-neighborhood access for
residents

• Right-of-Way needs to be compared between the
Roundabout and T-Intersection Alternatives
• Better termination points for pedestrian connectivity
needs to be addressed in design
