The document discusses the theory behind how rotor and stator angles in an axial compressor vary from the root to the tip. It presents equations showing how angles, velocities, and other parameters change based on radial position. The analysis aims to evaluate these variations while maintaining constant specific work input at all radii, which provides a constant stage pressure ratio up to the blade height. The equations derived indicate that for certain rotor and stator velocity distributions, the two design conditions of constant specific work input and arbitrary whirl velocity profiles are compatible.
This power point presentation has for post graduate student in mechanical engineering in thermal engineering. This presentation is quite simple and perfect to explain the axial flow compressor and fan.It is the best presentation.
This presentation had been prepared for the aircraft propulsion class to my undergraduate and graduate students at Kasetsart University and Chulalongkorn University - Bangkok, Thailand.

“ALIGNMENT OF SINGLE MIRROR IN CLOSED LOOP”Divya Aggarwal
The realignment of a mirror in resonator requires a closed loop feed back control system. The system utilise PSD, Laser Diode, stepper motor, digital encoder, data acquisition card and motor controller card, motor driver for controlling the sequence of operation. In aligned position of mirror, beam from diode laser fall on to centre of the mirror which reflects the beam back to the centre of the PSD. The central position of spot is taken as reference position. When the mirror is misaligned, the position of light beam on PSD shifts from its reference position. The output signal from PSD is then compared with the reference position. These data are processed in data acquisition card in to find the misalignment of mirror. The necessary command is then generated through controller to move mirror in correct direction through stepper motor for realignment of mirror. The no of step counted with the help of digital encoder.
Consists of two sets of windings:
3 phase armature winding on the stator distributed with centres 120° apart in space
field winding on the rotor supplied by DC
Two basic rotor structures used:
salient or projecting pole structure for hydraulic units (low speed)
round rotor structure for thermal units (high speed)
Salient poles have concentrated field windings; usually also carry damper windings on the pole face.Round rotors have solid steel rotors with distributed windings
Nearly sinusoidal space distribution of flux wave shape obtained by:
distributing stator windings and field windings in many slots (round rotor);

Previous discussion covers the theory behind the
calculation of rotor and stator angles at mean
radius.
Further study on previous theory enables
compressor designer to evaluate the change of
angles from root section up to tip section of rotor
and stator (covering all stages in axial compressor).

Apart from regions near the walls of the annulus^, the stagnation enthalpy (and
temperature) will be uniform across the annulus at entry to the compressor.temperature) will be uniform across the annulus at entry to the compressor.
If the frequently used design condition of constant specific work at all radii is
applied, then although h0 will increase progressively through the compressor inapplied, then although h0 will increase progressively through the compressor in
the axial direction, its radial distribution will remain uniform. Thus dh0/dr = 0 in
any plane between pair of blade rows.

When considering possible sets of design conditions, it is usually desirable to retain the constant
specific work-input condition to provide constant stage pressure ratio up to the blade height. It would be
possible, however, to choose a variation of one of the other variables, say Cw, and determine the variation
of Ca. The radial equilibrium requirement would still be satisfied.
In this note, we use the normal design condition:
(a) Constant specific work input at all radii
(b) An arbitrary whirl velocity distribution which is compatible with (a)
To obtain constant work input, U(C - C ) must remain constant across the annulus. Let us considerTo obtain constant work input, U(Cw2 - Cw1) must remain constant across the annulus. Let us consider
distributions of whirl velocity at inlet and outlet from the rotor blade given by:
