A sneak peek at our ‘from the lab’ material showing the up andcoming features, functions and products still in development, including AVEVA Everything3D, AVEVA Engineering 15.1 and thenew AVEVA Electrical & Instrumentation 15.1.
AVEVA Engineering enables multi-disciplinary engineering teams to collaboratively develop and manage project engineering data in a centralized database. It allows each discipline to control its own data for items while providing visibility of full data to other teams. The software automatically records changes to the data and allows users to highlight and view modifications. It also generates reports from the database and checks for data inconsistencies across engineering, 3D, and schematic documents.

Jacobs has used Endeavour (AVEVA NET) for more than 12 years for delivery of project data. The use has been primarily driven by customer or contract requirements for data handover, but over time both Jacobs’ project teams and customers have recognized the value of having trustworthy and complete data at the completion of a project, and is giving a focused effort to execute data-centric projects moving forward. To support this, Jacobs is implementing AVEVA Engineering to drive a data-centric collaboration between disciplines to enable greater work efficiencies. This game-changing approach using Endeavour and AVEVA Engineering will provide data alignment across the full project spectrum of EPC delivery.

BIM is a digital representation of physical and functional characteristics of a built asset that contains design, construction, operation, and maintenance information. It enables richer analysis than traditional processes by integrating large amounts of multi-disciplinary data throughout the asset's lifecycle. Productivity benefits of BIM include fewer errors, reduced rework, shorter project durations, lower costs, improved communication and understanding between stakeholders, and optimizing design decisions early when changes are cheap to make. Studies show BIM can reduce construction changes by 40% and project durations by up to 37% as users gain experience with the technology.

Agile integration architecture in relation to APIs and messagingKim Clark
This document discusses agile integration architecture from three perspectives: application integration, APIs, and messaging. It outlines how traditional centralized integration approaches are moving to more decentralized models with fine-grained deployments, application autonomy, and cloud-native implementations. APIs are shifting from system-centric to consumer-centric exposure, while messaging is evolving from self-managed to platform-managed infrastructure. Microservices require both asynchronous communications via events and synchronous APIs to fully decouple components. Agile integration architecture enables independent, scalable, and resilient digital applications and services.

This document discusses the potential for EPC 4.0, which would involve transitioning from document-centric engineering, procurement, and construction project management to a data-centric model utilizing a shared database. The current document-focused EPC 3.0 model is estimated to involve high transcription and checking costs, indirect costs, and change management costs. EPC 4.0 could reduce these costs by having all project stakeholders contribute and access a single source of standardized engineering data. This is estimated to potentially reduce total installed costs on projects by up to 10%. However, a full transition would require changes to people, processes, and business models across project teams.

information handover meant to reduce the inefficiencies and costs in the information supply chain. As one of the initiative’s earliest adopters, Mike Curtin, VP Capital Project IM/IT, discusses how Shell’s project execution approach is evolving to align with the new standards, the impacts of CFIHOS on the industry and who is affected, and finally how technology is changing to support the shift. Mike also covers Shell’s journey from document to data centric information management for CFIHOS readiness, and finally, the next steps in their path towards digitalization across greenfield project execution and operations of existing assets.
Americas LFM User Meeting 2018 - Matt Craig, Becht EngineeringAVEVA-Americas
For many years, LFM Server has been the leader in providing laser scan software solutions for Terrestrial Laser Scan data capture market. LFM Server provides a platform for users to visualize and interact with point cloud data within most engineering design tool applications used in the industry. Becht’s presentation will demonstrate the functionality of two different point cloud formats (i.e. Terrestrial and Aerial).
This presentation demonstrates how this type of functionality will provide new opportunities for users who use multiple point cloud formats, but need one common platform to visualize and work with the integrated data.

Major capital projects continue to be over budget and behind schedule, meanwhile, discussions on how to improve center on better collaboration between the OO/EPC/Constructor, contractingstrategies and better upfront design definition.
This presentation covers how technology is disrupting the capital project execution landscape with potential savings of 10% of total project installed cost (TIC). These savings are made available through the optimization of data-centric engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning strategies enabled by the Cloud, advanced analytics to measure progress in real time, augmented and virtual reality for breaking down silos between engineering and the field.
Are we truly ready to embrace industry 4.0 to not only thrive in today’s marketplace but, more importantly, to survive?

This presentation discusses using laser scanning and 3D modeling technology to digitally replicate physical field walkdowns of industrial assets. By extracting tag data from laser scans, validating it against 3D models, and linking it to other tools, it enables intelligent digitalization of assets throughout their lifecycle. This is called a "Virtual Field Walkdown". The goals are to safely verify documentation, create live linked data, and digitalize non-intelligent systems. Benefits include accurate up-to-date information and improved safety over traditional physical field inspections.

Many businesses are struggling to adapt in a networked world in which digitization is fundamentally disrupting trading relationships, business attitudes and delivery capabilities. Contract Management sits at the intersection of all these forces and is transforming from a largely administrative task to a dynamic role that orchestrates change and makes sense of business relationships and performance.
Many believe that automation will largely eliminate the need for human activity in designing, preparing, negotiating and managing contracts. Are they right? Will key aspects of the contracting process will be undertaken through technology?
This discussion with industry thought leaders explores the continued impact of global contract trends and technology and how our industry can use them to improve business activities.

Even with all the technology available today, the oil and gas engineering design process remains mostly document-based.
The majority of our work processes, specifications, organizational structure, and discipline responsibilities were developed at a time when data/information was recorded on paper. As a result, we are set up to think in documents instead of data and our work processes and organizational structure is set up to think in terms of document transfer, not data transfer. This legacy of a document based engineering design process has placed limits on the oil and gas industry’s ability to adapt to changes in technology, compress engineering design schedules, and implement changes late in a project. This talk will propose an alternative engineering execution process in ‘oil and gas capital projects that can realize the benefits of machine learning and the latest digital technologies that are transforming similar industries.

Embedded machine learning-based road conditions and driving behavior monitoringIJECEIAES
Car accident rates have increased in recent years, resulting in losses in human lives, properties, and other financial costs. An embedded machine learning-based system is developed to address this critical issue. The system can monitor road conditions, detect driving patterns, and identify aggressive driving behaviors. The system is based on neural networks trained on a comprehensive dataset of driving events, driving styles, and road conditions. The system effectively detects potential risks and helps mitigate the frequency and impact of accidents. The primary goal is to ensure the safety of drivers and vehicles. Collecting data involved gathering information on three key road events: normal street and normal drive, speed bumps, circular yellow speed bumps, and three aggressive driving actions: sudden start, sudden stop, and sudden entry. The gathered data is processed and analyzed using a machine learning system designed for limited power and memory devices. The developed system resulted in 91.9% accuracy, 93.6% precision, and 92% recall. The achieved inference time on an Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense with a 32-bit CPU running at 64 MHz is 34 ms and requires 2.6 kB peak RAM and 139.9 kB program flash memory, making it suitable for resource-constrained embedded systems.
