This document discusses how augmented reality (AR) can help with emergency management through the use of geographic information system (GIS) and building information modeling (BIM) data. It proposes using an AR application called Augview to provide live access to spatial asset data during disasters to help with: 1) Faster response by locating underground infrastructure like storm drains. 2) Improved collaboration between organizations by sharing updated GIS data in real-time. 3) More efficient recovery through accurate damage assessments, which could reduce costs and timeframes.
